had an identity crisis, prime time for a slight sona redesign!

it's cow! (again!)

+ a closeup because i'm really proud of the eyes

#i felt really extremely disconnected from cow and was like welp. time to make new fursonas #and made like four drafts before drawing cow with short hair and going 'oh.'#i ...... just need a hair cut. so i gave my fursona a haircut while i'm waiting to go #fucking. my new near’s resolution in 2022 was to fill an entire sketchbook by the end of the year and I only managed to get about halfway through it but last night I took that same sketchbook to a figure drawing session and filled all the remaining pages by the end of the night. and it makes sense because with the nature of the session, you’re allowed (expected even) to make shitty art. the whole point is that it’s not supposed to be a perfect finished piece, it’s practice. especially the quick 1-2 minute gesture drawings. and with the longer poses, you don’t have to spend the whole time working on one drawing, you can start over and do multiple iterations using different techniques! and that’s something I struggle with so much when I’m drawing on my own in an unstructured environment. anyway I think it’s really cool that I got more practice and experience out of a single night than I did in an entire year because I allowed myself to not be perfect at it and I encourage you all to do the same

#feels really good to get back into traditional art/life drawing #especially in an environment where I’m not being graded? I’m learning and practicing for me and that’s cool #and there were so many people with different skills/backgrounds/techniques #but I didn’t see them as competitors but rather people I can learn from and share the experience with #fuck I love healing my relationship to art and academia #anyway all this to say I had fun and I think I’m gonna go again #but first I gotta buy a new sketchbook lol #just katie things
