From a Mydei lover standpoint, I'm devastated to see my beloved son fighting for every second of his life.

But from the extremely pedantic lore-nerd standpoint... This lightcone is hilarious because:

It implies that nine-year-old Mydei managed to not only find clothing and armor that would fit a child just conveniently floating around in the Sea of Souls, but that he also felt like jewelry was a necessity in his life, despite having (if we approach this logically) neither any social context for jewelry wearing nor jewelry having any practical application for someone fighting daily to survive. You can't slay without slaying, I guess.

This lightcone also implies that Mydei picked an outfit at nine-years-old and never changed his fashion choices again in his entire life. Bro really said, "This outfit slaps; I'm set for good." He's literally is still wearing the exact same style as he was rocking as a homeless refugee of the abyss; I can FEEL Aglaea internally screaming.

(Yes, realistically I can guess that the artist just didn't know what else to put Mydei in and defaulted to his current outfit for reference but ssshhhhh, let me have something to laugh about right now...)

call me crazy but there is a difference between treating your adult players like they are new to the world and treating your adult players like they have the memory of a goldfish and the vocabulary of a 9 year old

#the new players excuse is always going to be a cop out to me #new players can use the codex #or the fucking wiki #inquisition had tons of new players too #it wasnt written like that #its a deflection #also i had to change the age i put from 11 to 9 because i remembered #that i taught 6th grade language arts #and we did vocabulary #and 11 year olds have a bigger vocabulary than what veilguard uses in 99% of its writing #veilguard critical #they act like dragon age is special in its lore depth and complexity and plot #and that they had no choice but to over-explain because the plot is just SOOOOOO complex #when its not unique #every fantasy video game is like this #people enjoy exploring new worlds #meanwhile bg3 throws you into the forgotten realms lore and says learn to swim or die bitch!

#dead leaf for leafpool and gull feathers for feathertail #like yeah it's funny that cherith does whatever the hell she wants as soon as she's in the driver's seat #but it's also baffling and frustrating that she wanted this in the first place #crowfeather or at least the version of him in my head is a fun and interesting character because he's shitty #in the newer books there's been a weird attitude toward him where the other characters think he's irritable but also noble and attractive #also tawnypelt is such a nothing character it's upsetting that all she's ever been is an accessory to the men around her #her father her brother her mate her son her grandson(s)#and her pov is no longer merely boring but actually insufferable thanks to her poorly handled “kids these days” plots #if it were up to me #the new prophecy would focus more on tawnypelt feeling out of place in shadowclan and struggling to prove her loyalty #contrasting brambleclaw who is generally accepted in thunderclan but victimizes himself due to his insecurity #i would also explore how tawnypelt and rowanclaw get together since he hates her in one scene and then they're lovey dovey in the next #although this does seem to be the basis of many warriors relationships #i'm not sure how i feel about tawnypelt getting a second mate as an elder but i don't want to begrudge old people finding love again #so i'm fine with it as long as it's not crowfeather #as for crowfeather #he would fall hard and fast for feathertail because she's pretty and shows him kindness but i want it to be one-sided #then he would fall hard and fast for leafpool for the same reasons #she runs away with him not because she loves him but because clan society is suffocating and she needs an escape #so when they get back to the clans she moves on pretty quickly but he lives a long and miserable life pining after her #his clanmates quietly avoid him because they don't like him that much because why would they and so he never becomes deputy #i can see him trying to reconnect with breezepelt and nightcloud as an elder #not necessarily because he realizes how shitty he is but because he wants a relationship with his granddaughters but it's strained #and then he dies! i'm tired of writing and being frustrated by these stupid books so i'm ending it here #crowfeather #warrior cats #eel art #eel talk

realizing that despite how old she my be, marcille will be younger than falin very quickly. Marcille will have walked the earth for many decades to be a young adult, but only in a few heartbeats will falin look at her with an infinitely more worldly glance. Falin's face marked with wrinkles and her mind filled with the wisdom only approaching death can bring you, marcille will be unable to understand her. Marcille will be too immature, too naive, and too many worlds apart for them too love each other the way they used to. tbh I think a good way to view tales from the pizzaplex is that it's in addition to and not instead of

#meaning that the book story is additional to the game story so it has a chance to actually be fleshed out and detailed #when they couldnt get to the same level of detail even if they tried in the games #like they couldnt have made a game showing mimic living with edwin and david and their interactions and stuff #and the tagline 'if you've read the books you dont know the full story'#in addition to not instead of #and i think a great way to show that this isnt a bad thing is ggy #ggy the book enhances ggy as a storyline soo much its crazy #it makes it feel so much more rich and makes ggy feel genuinely threatening and interesting #and fleshes him out more making him actively very different from vanny visibly in his story and plot and role in everything #and yet theres still so much left to cover with him that they have plenty to do in the games #idk i think months/years ago it was a different ballpark but now that rheres more info #+ they're actively showing drive to explain and reveal things in the games and make them more rich at the same fime #so things arent locked behind paywalls and hours of read time #its not nearly as bad and condemning as it felt before #i think theres still the thing of 'plotline revealed in book that only a small percentage of fandom knows about #so the new content and interesting concept is barely explored in the book itself but also in the fanbase bc the recieval is so small #and underwhelming #and these plotlines will take years to be explored in the games #but you already know about them so it isnt as connected with the rest of the fanbase as you'd like'#i think thats definitely a thing but it depends #that's why i felt tired abt escape the pizzaplex bc it was like great nothing was progressed and now theres another setup #that we have to wait for again to be talked about in the games #when theres already stuff piled up #pandas.txt #thoughts #discourse

So with @edennill mentioning isekai recently (a week ago? Idk), I started thinking and realized something: (if we ignore part of meta that's self-contradictory anyway or if we squint hard enough) if we are contemplating the concept of "isekai-ed into ME", landing there as an elf makes just as much sense as landing there as a human. Because the difference between the two kindreds is how they're tied to Arda and since we are getting thrown into a different world anyway (because this is the only way this premise makes any resemblance of sense, because time travel is a total mess) we can as well be more strongly tied to it. It makes just the same amount of sense as being more loosely tied.

(Tolkien said that there is no inherent physical difference between Men and Elves; the only difference is the nature of their bond with Arda and stuff like this, purely spiritual or whatever to call it.)

it’s a common known issue with zari 1.0’s post s5 appearances that her plotlines seem to revolve around nate and like. i can def say in terms of z1 storylines i would kinda take her interactions with the tarazi siblings over steelhacker plotlines

but it’s also worth mentioning that most of the other characters who she was really close to were like… gone? aside from sara, like s3 she was really close with amaya n ray, then s4 was a lot of her with charlie and mona outside of romantic plots with nate

so like. i kinda get why they’re stuck in a hole with her where they can’t do much outside of nate regarding the other legends

they both struggle with art-related physical and mental health issues, and complicated families

#outdrawn #aroaessidhe 2024 reads #sapphic books #I thought this was decent! I liked the concept (even if I got distracted by some art related things…)#and the dynamic between the characters was good. I enjoyed their relationship development broadly speaking #and the emphasis on communication; though it was a quick flip into being together all of a sudden.#The sketchbook doodle flirting was cute. Some interesting exploration of their complicated family situations too.#There’s a lot of exploration of burnout and carpal tunnel and the dangers of artists overworking which I think are important conversations #and are done with some nuance. But it’s pretty much all discussed in the context of the personal pressure they put on themselves #rather than the industry corporate greed and artificial competition created by the comic platform - which are significant in this story!#It felt odd that that connection wasn’t really ever made?#I know that this is a romance and nitpicking the background plot is beside the point and also that I am not a big romance reader #but the premise that the comic hosting site archives everything; wipes the leaderboard; and out of nowhere has a comic competition for #new weekly chapters…I’m sorry but the art world would riot. Even if people enter because they’re desperate for the cash they’d be pissed #People live off the income from their webcomics! if they were erased (temporarily) with no notice…..there would be crimes committed istg #I simply don’t believe that it would be doable to create a new weekly webcomic with no notice while you also have a full-time comic job #(especially as the only stylistic choices mentioned are full-colour) - not to mention what happened to their 8-years-running webcomics #that were archived? they don’t think about them at all after the beginning? surely they’d care about that?#And then with their new comics they make for this competition (after work I guess) we get vague snippets about them but barely anything #- if they’re consuming that much of your time I would expect to feel like they’re thinking about them all the time #rather than the vaguest discussion about genre and cast numbers only.#I guess I just think the whole comic site stunt felt unnecessary for the plot anyway -#it would have worked exactly the same if they were just competing on the normal leaderboard with their normal comics???#anyway - I’m not judging TOO hard about all that because again I know it’s not the point and maybe the industry is like that in some place #Unfortunately it was distracting enough to affect my feelings on the book tho lol.#Lastly: the audiobook………oof. The narrators talk at different speeds; for one.#And Sage’s VA does this deeply weird raspy-anime-teen-boy voice for Noah which is such an odd choice #and doesn’t match her character at all.#unforch my library only had the audiobook (what I usually prefer) so I just had to sort of….translate the narration into a normal voice lol #anyway the romance is good tho
