I drew a gold bg with copics for something on non-tmnt acc and that got me in a mood. I went "huh, neat, liquid gold would be so nice" and then got hit with inspo and here we are. More input under the cut.

So, stay with me for a hot minute, this is not little Present Day Leon, this is Future Leonardo, but in baby, sorta. I just went with the notion of dripping gold and drew Leo and he became progressively more unsettled and then I was like "yeah no that is the Leo who had to go through live without his older self being there to pick up the pieces." Also F!Leo is, in my story, canonically deeply unsettled and lowkey terrified by larger bodies of water - so rule of the thumb could be that if I draw a Leo not having a good time with H2O it is probably F!Leo in his youth. Which will make sense once I get around to explain it organically in like.. what.. Chapter 2 maybe. (they say, having not even fully drafted Chapter 1, while already dreaming of Chapter 3) But while we are on that topic, one thing I could ramble about is that all the kids mystic powers are more rooted in elements, and here I had to play a bit fast 'n loose with both the 4 element and 5 element systems because I have six kids to account for so I hope I can be forgiven that Wood and Air exist both in this one. But yeah so Leo's mystic powers are related to water, the element fits him and in my head it makes the most sense to link his powers up to water, especially the portals when I think about how still waters and mirroring water surfaces are linked to doorways to other worlds, the afterlife, and so on. Imagine Leo just pulling the humidity right out of the air to manifest his portals or something like that. Manifesting swords outta thin air due to water. Also idk okay I just think, with water being so versatile, being wild and calm capable of changing on a dime, treacherous, nurturing, dangerous but without it we could not even exist. I always just linked Leo in general to water but that association runs all the way back to the 2003 series (I need to rewatch the 1987 series to see if the association hits me there too tbh)

But yeah, in general, I have a lot of concepts and little things that pop up while I focus on the core story and the element thing will come up here 'n there, but it ain't the main focus. I just think it is funny to mention how Leo's powers are absolutely based in the element water and F!Leo is terrified of water. (which will come up and become a rather important at some point both the why and what that meant for him and his powers or the lack thereof) I also have another picture in the works of Leo in the water, but it is little Leo who has no water based trauma so he is having a better time in the drawing than his counterpart.

Crab/Crawfish Boil! Coloring the food was a challenge of "what shade of Copic Marker is this?"

The last time I had a Crab Boil was in… middle school? My friend’s mom dumped the whole thing on a giant plastic sheet on the dining room table and it was DELICIOUS. Definitely made an impression, that's for sure!

random top gun headcanons bc I'm bored part three ✨ secret Santa edition ✨

(I actually drew names for this) (while I was at work and doing nothing better)

1. Jake draws Mickey's name and gets him a set of blue copic markers. Mickey mentioned on a double-date once that Delta Airlines had lost his other set of markers (fanback and hangster go on double-dates this is fact). Jake pretends he doesn't pay attention to other people's lives but we all know that's a lie

2. Mickey gets Bob and gets him a hoodie with his helmet design on the hood and "Badass On Board" on the back. (Jake feels bad for calling him baby on board but Bob doesn't hold grudges)

3. Bob has Reuben, he gets him a tall purple orchid (idk orchid varieties so that's all I got) and some exotic flower seeds (Reuben's a plant guy)

4. Reuben gets Natasha a blown glass ornament: a phoenix rising from ashes. Bob has to convince her not to glue it to their plane

5. Natasha gets Mav (Mavdad is part of the squad, they had to include him) and she has no idea what to get him so she enlists Bradley's help. she gets him a handmade model F-14 with "Maverick" and "Goose" painted on the sides

6. Mav gets Javy a custom set of DnD figurines, each modeled after the squad. now he has more leverage for the squad to join his campaigns

7. Javy gets Jake a new pair of cowboy boots (they are sorely needed but according to Jake if the soles aren't falling out, he doesn't need new shoes). they have custom stitching based on things in Jake's life (the navy, horses, Bradley, etc.)

8. Bradley draws his own name. he's supposed to tell someone so that they can redraw, but he doesn't. he decides to use secret santa to get himself a gift that he wants but doesn't want to admit to wanting. he buys himself a t shirt that says "cowboys make better lovers"

✦ ESPECIALLY if you go to school with charlie , you keep reminding him to tell you and tori if harry and his rugby mates ( that title sound so stupid to you and tori ) mess with him .

Hanging Tree

"Are you, are you comin' to the tree? Where they strung up a man, they say, who murdered three Strange things did happen here, no stranger would it be If we met at midnight in the hanging tree" F!Leo and his horse Comet.

Just... I listened to the song from Hunger Games and got hit in the face with this image so I drew this almost in one go in one day expect for some details and colour corrections today. Peepaw is not well before he goes into the past TM. Comet tries her best. Comet is a Percheron bc I figured a tall Leo needs a strong big horse. Next to the youngsters and their horses both are huge.

I tried some different approaches with the colouring and which media to use first because I used inks, copics and watercolour pencils in this one and there have been some mishaps because I keep forgetting how much the coloured pencils seal off the paper if used first so those are definitely going to be the last step of any process if used. (comet has actually some blue shading via coloured pencils but the scanner ate those lol) But all in all I got out what I saw in my mind so I am very pleased. I could've worked some more details into the hazy background, make the clouds more apparent but the vagueness actually works well for the image as it is more a symbolic thing.

On that note, while the image is meant more symbolic for the struggles and grief Leo is going through if there are any concerns on trigger warnings I should put in the tags for this one please let me know because idk if it is warranted because of the noose around Leos neck? But yah, let me be clear, this is more about grief than anything.

- Mabel Week Day 5 - Yew Drawn for @andromerot ‘s prompt list celebrating @mabelpodcast! I really wanted to do a No Children lyric here but tomorrow is the King and Luna, so I needed to save it. Can we get an f in chat.

Actually amazing ‼️‼️‼️ blown away ‼️‼️‼️ I bought 6 more on Amazon !!! Yabai 😱😱😱 ohuhu is good but I didn’t expect this much of a difference with copic. This tip is way better… doesn’t let out too much ink Easy to use as an actual brush as well. I feel a lot more confident holding this. Especially cuz they’re smaller!
