#fabric buying

Okay, so as I think I've mentioned here I like to shop at a local fabric store that resells deadstock, what I haven't mentioned is that that place is an absolute bloodbath when they get now stock. They send out an email to their email list at midnight on friday when something new comes in, and you have to get it fast. So this week they had vintage fabric which I desperately wanted, so I go in. Literally in the time it takes me to put a few things in my cart and go to check out everything in my cart except one piece sells out (don't ask me why they don't 'hold' something for you when it's put in your cart, but basically it seems it's not yours until you hit the buy button). Which was a bit devastating because I really wanted this pink wool for some vintage 1930's patterns I have coming in the mail.

BUT I got the vintage Velour!! I had been searching for something like it for ages and I feel like I really lucked out getting it here, so I can celebrate for that at least

I'm a stiff breeze away from custom ordering my own organic fabrics and making my own damn clothes and im not joking

now that the first images of him are being picked up it reminded me to show him finished! my scorchsona made from @beanbagbuddies4life’s pattern. It was a difficult little thing to put together but i trusted the process and he turned out super cute. I love the vintage fabric i picked up for this pattern as well.

Throwing my hat in the butch/femme/nun presenting Harrow debate:

Harrow found a top and bottoms that fit her the way she likes and bought twenty of each in black. She put ten away in storage in case the manufacturer stops making them and only trades one out when it can't be repaired.

i would buy so many more shirts from artist if they were transparent on the printing process. please i need to know if it's a digital on demand print that will flake off in a few washes or a good screenprinted shirt where the print lasts longer than the shirt itself. please tell me in your product description i am begging.

Re: the lack of demand for wool thanks to propaganda causing more waste; my parents live part-time in a small village in Ireland that is about half populated by sheep farmers. ALL those farmers have had to pivot away from wool production to mutton production, because they can't survive off selling the wool anymore. So now they are killing exponentially more sheep than they were killing before, since. You know. You don't have to kill the sheep to harvest the wool!

God, this is incredibly sad

all that wool that could become, not just winter/cold-weather fabric, but summer-weight wool that's excellent for temperature regulation!

and of course, the irony of killing more sheep because P*TA told you the non-lethal sheep product was evil
