Jan - Gekiranger

Feral cat boy (as in "literally raised by tigers" feral) SUPER BRATTY especially early on. he does become less bratty over the course of the show as part of his character arc (his domestication arc if you will) but its a really well done character arc. mega genki and utterly precious. also he has the speech pattern of a toddler. you'd think that would be annoying but it only adds to his kitty charm

Gekiranger also just a great show I'd recommend it to anyone

Sosuke - Go-onger

Absolute menace to society. def in the "asshole" category of red, massive ego and braindead stupid. I mean all of the go-ons are stupid, that's their in-canon strength as a team, but he's like "undiagnosed CTE/chimpanzee on adderall" type stupid. and violent! utter bastard love him dearly

These last 2 reds aren't bratty or mean BUT they do suffer a lot and I wanna recommend these shows anyways

Red - Gaoranger

Yes his name is Red, the gaos refer to each other by their colors not their government names. moderately genki, a wee bit dumb and just plain strange. and hoooo boy does he get his shit rocked. all the gaos get their shit rocked, often out-of-suit and for several real world minutes at a time. several members die. they get better tho. I won't say which ones

Gaoranger is my personal favorite midtier sentai. barely a plot and zero character progression but its a fun brainless watch. even better to watch one handed wink wonk

Yamato - Zyuohger

Opposite of bratty and mean, he's super accommodating and nice almost to the point of being a pushover and his genki attitude is very obviously a mask, not helped by his teammates being a bunch of ornery animals (literal) plus a needy, emotionally volatile sixth. also mans got daddy issues. and mommy issues. and uncle issues. Yamato's suffering is just as mental as it is physical. and plenty of physical suffering is had

Zyuohger actual good show as well, even when not accounting for the plentiful ryona

Also I haven't watched dekaranger yet (I hear its just Fine) but I do know dekared is absolutely batshit. like dropkicking his teammates type batshit. if anyone wants to recommend more bratty/cunt reds from sentais I haven't seen yet to Anon, speak your truth x

I'm not hyperinvested in trying to get other people to to be vegan or vegitarian (mostly because meat/not meat isn't a reliable determinant of how environmentally destructive a food is) but I definitely have the least respect for meat eaters who are unable or unwilling to confront that their meat involves killing an animal. I don't think it's ethical for someone to eat meat and look away from how it got on their plate. Like regardless of physical access or ability, if you don't have the emotional fortitude to hunt and butcher an animal, you shouldn't be eating meat.

That Time Of The Month usually refers to menstruation but for me it's the day(s) my mom decides to tackle the bills in the most passive-aggressively confrontational way and my dad decides to be the most inefficient whiny martyr on earth who acts like we're oppressing him by asking questions about what charges are bc he doesn't tell anyone anything even tho he is not the one doing the bills every month.

So in Ireland (possibly the entire EU) there is a regulation stipulating that in order to sell potato crisps as "hand cooked", which often carries a luxury price point, a very specific part of the process has to be done manually (iirc, dipping the potato slices into boiling oil), while the rest can be largely handled by machines and mostly automated.

According to somebody involved in production line design many years ago, one of the major crispmongers of Ireland was interested in how they could save having a guy whose sole job it was to hand-operate the conveyor that conveys the sliced potatos into boiling oil and then back out of the boiling oil and back onto the automated bit that does the seasoning and packaging and so on, which would be an all-day mind-numbing job, but more importantly they'd have to pay the guy and companies hate that.

So these regulations are enforced by regular factory audits, where somebody from the regulatory body shows up with a clipboard (or these days, an ipad) and checks that everything is operating at acceptable standards and required processes are being adhered to. Which works, but factories can often... Plan for audit days.

So the compromise the designer came up with was that the oil conveyor would have a hand-crank. But that it didn't do anything. The entire machine was automated. Except for audit days, where they could have one of the engineers stand there and look really busy turning the crank.

I have no idea why most of the snout wasn't even painted, also I noticed I gotta give him pretty much all of his face markings below the eyes! I originally thought I'd just touch up the edges of white parts but alas!! Anyways, I'm really happy I decided to do this! 💚
