Stepping away from the Bobby of it all and the grief for a moment, let's talk about Tommy.

That flashback was fascinating to me just in terms of how yes it was absolutely necessary for the story they wanted to tell with Athena and I like that she processed some of her initial grief that way. I understand that getting a Bobby who was freshly in LA and still in the depth of his grief for his kids is important, but that could have still happened during S1...but instead Tim decided to go prior to Buck joining the 118 and including Tommy.

Personally I think this has a little to do with explaining Tommy being a pallbearer because it reiterates to the audience that Tommy did work with Bobby and we have the added lore that Tommy saved Bobby back then.

In story this works, but it also puts some importance on Tommy because to be completely clear, Tommy did not need to be in this episode at all. Everything that happened in this episode could have happened without him. The flashback could have happened without him. The funeral could have happened without. And yet...he was included. And yet, tptb decided to include Tommy.

idk i think its pretty cool that a lot of x reader fan/smut on tumblr (not all of it) is for the most part, can act as a reclaiming of pleasure for minorities (women, poc, lgbtqia+) in a world that largely creates literature and media that overtly fetishes us. like, we're imagining these "silly" lil licentious scenarios about fictional characters for funsies, yes, but also how cool is it that like, we're allowed to an even encouraged to express these desires that clearly also resonate with hundreds and sometimes thousands of other people, in a space that's not at all catered to the stereotypical "white male gaze"?

idk ppl can say what they want about x reader being cringe or whatever but just rmbr that dante alighieri wrote self-insert fanfic about his favorite writer leading him thru hell where he gets to then go and meet all his other favs, and then he gets to heaven where the girl he fell in love with (bc he met her literally only twice) was there to welcome him with open arms. like. yeah.

Michael interview with Sabrina Barr for Metro, 10.7.2023

‘I think it’s very clear how they feel about each other,’ the 54-year-old answered suggestively.

‘There are all kinds of complications and obstacles that get in the way of all that, and I think that’s part of the joy of their relationship. They clearly have such strong feelings for each other but with all kinds of conflicting things going on as well, and that’s part of the joy of it.’

However, Michael was reluctant to give too much away, so that the story isn’t spoiled for viewers.

‘Seeing how that works itself out through the story I think is part of the pleasure of it, so I wouldn’t want to spoil that,’ he added. 

‘It’s certainly part of the sort of secret story – I feel like every story has a surface story and then a secret story. It’s always the secret story that really works on us as an audience deep down and I think that’s how they feel about each other.’

As for working with David, 52, Michael is ‘definitely’ hoping that their professional collaborations will continue, after the success of their lockdown TV series Staged.

Speaking of their working relationship paired with their friendship, the actor shared: ‘It’s just easy, you know? That’s what’s lovely about it. There’s always two aspects to working with someone. There’s whatever chemistry you have as characters on screen, on stage when you’re acting, and then just the experience of it as well. 

‘There can be people that you love working with, you have a great time with, but maybe there isn’t quite that same chemistry in terms of the performing, or people that you have great chemistry with performing but it’s not the same sort of chemistry off-stage, so to speak.’

When asked about the prospect of doing more projects together in future, he replied: ‘I can’t speak for David, but I feel like we would both be really into doing whatever.

‘I’m sure we’ll be on the lookout for something else to do together. Unless we just keep doing Good Omens until we’re in our 90s.’
