My fallout 4 companion head canons:

Preston is insecure and internally blames himself for the state of the minutemen, that's why he prefers the SS to be the general.

Strong loves nature and animals and specially admires Yao Guais.

Curie developed claustrophobia after spending so much time stuck in vault 81.

Nick Valentine's is secretly a fan of the silver shroud and never misses his radio shows.

Paladin Danse is short (about 1.60) and likes to use power armour because it makes him look taller.

Hancock is a fan of history and loves to read books about popular revolutions.

MacCready is really good in wood carving and loves to make toys and give them to children of the wasteland.

Codsworth has interest in tailoring and is always looking for fabrics, buttons and zips to patch up the clothes of the settlers of Sanctuary.

Cait loves to sing, but is too shy to sing in front of anyone, instead she whistles and hums all the time.

X6-88 is afraid of the bugs of the wasteland and is specially disgusted by radroaches.

Piper likes taking ugly pictures of her friends and making poto albums with them.

Old Longfellow loves teaching others his skills in hunting and fishing, specially kids since he could never have children of his own.

Gage isn't actually missing an eye, he just uses his eye patch to look tough.

Deacon is always looking for new pieces of clothing for his costumes, he has a special interest for hats.

Favorite thing about my current playthrough is that I decided not to romance macready and I think that it made him glitch and now every 30 minutes hes constantly asking me if he overshared and also what we are to each other and I just have to keep freindzoning him. Horribly in character for the pathetic rat man. 10/10 great job beyhatzda

I’m convinced most of the Fallout 4 companions are touch-starved. I’ve never seen anyone hug. No one touches anyone except to kill them. They don’t kiss. They don’t hold hands. I can’t even imagine what it must be like to only ever know physical touch as a threat and not as affection. If I move to hug Preston would he recoil?

Headcanon alert: no matter how bad off on caps or hungry Mac is, he’ll always share whatever scrap of food he has with whatever or whoever is keeping him company. Maybe it’s a trait from his lamplight time, maybe not? Who knows.
