... soul-nursing, ruby lips.
[...] I am the bewildered Farhād,
and you are my sweet-tongued Shīrīn.

Despite their beauty, flowers in mythology often have their roots in tragedy. The anemone was born from the blood of Adonis, the sunflower (or sometimes the heliotrope) was once a lovelorn nymph named Clytie, and the tulip, according to Persian legend, was born from the star-crossed romance of two lovers. There are many versions of the tulip’s origins, most revolving around the tragic love of Farhad and Shirin. In some versions Farhad is a prince who falls in love with the maid Shirin, in others Farhad is a common man who falls in love with the princess Shirin. It is the second version of the legend that we will be exploring.

a (not main-ish) character who you wish had more screen time and why? 👀
omg i have so many
probably jackie, tbh. i don’t have much of an explanation other than the fact that i loved her storyline and she was so sweet😭 like i just wanted to see her at least one more time to see how she’s doing- which is probably not great, but still.
also holly, she’s unironically one of my fav characters even though i didn’t necessarily like her. i saw a lot of myself in her and she played a pretty big part in debbie’s storyline despite not being in a lot of it. i would also have liked to see ellie again, like she and debbie didn’t have beef post-s5, we see them interact in s6. instead of adding megan as debbie’s fellow teen mom friend and being all “hey guys remember debbie’s friend from high school? no? well you should because we just decided she’s been here” they could’ve brought us ellie. it would’ve made more sense anyways since ellie had a kid at 13 and megan had a shitload of kids for someone whos only supposed to be around 19.
OH AND ALSO FARHAD. no explanation we all love farhad here
and then finally sue. i just wanted ian to have more friends and he had a ton of chemistry with sue. she was so funny and cool and i HATE HATE HATE that she wasn’t at ian’s wedding. mandy and sue were both there idc idc
