It looks like fun and games. It’s not. What we do takes a lot of effort and is never a completely finished product, but a work in progress. There is tons of give in the internet. Yes you can “play” / dabble here too, but understanding the reflection that it has on all your possibilities says, don’t play too much. I often consider taking a hard break, from SM. Especially now that one of my askings has manifested in @samuelmosching. The issue is I have had lots of askings since Feb 2021 and based on manifestations, I cannot. What I can be is harshly specific, if that’s what it takes. If you know the direction I’m headed in, you won’t take any of it personal and trust that it is for all parties betterment. As a dj, my tenure has shown me quite a few spaces. There’s always room for improvement. Normally, the dj is an after thought, based on the fact that owners see entertainment budgets as a loss. This is a new age, where everyone interested in taking advantage of impressions, to garner more interests and opportunities. #fbf 2018 Took a virtual trip back to #chicago today and was reminded of all the work I put into #smm and #djing at a craft cocktail bar, in the south loop. @abstonconsulting A wonderful opportunity to be mindful that drinks aren’t always purchased, though the room is full. I used to believe alcohol sold itself. We need PSA’s to remind guests, that all the amenities we provide in spaces require purchases to keep and maintain. Right now I’m reading that musicians / entertainment want to increase rates, with no guarantee of guests supporting with purchases. As if we are out of the pandemic, the misconception continues. My postings are hardly ever about vanity. These SM sites like faces. We can have a deeper conversation about what they want, from a performance stand point. What’s more important is that I received yet another indication that I’m being watched. Last night I was reminded, once again how important dancers are for djs. The internet has created a necessary facsimile, during these most interesting times, yes. I normally carry my own energy when I play, thank god. Though, it wasn’t easy last night. I’ve also had a FEW hair raising moments, listening to djs spin on twitch. One was Tuesday night while @djkemit played. (my whewwws in chat are real) He is responsible for two of the three times, I’ve felt like we were all in the same room again. (My let go at the host stand at RS last year was quite memorable, for all💃🏽) Tuesday, I even turned away from the tv screen and headed to my “dance” floor, to catch a quick boogie. After having a few technological issues, during my session yesterday, I was brought right back to the space of knowing how much MORE time and energy some of us are putting into streaming. Right now it seems as if it’s more work than it’s worth. Yes I’m an advocate for maintaining a presence, as a means for branding and the future opportunities that may come.
