The 18th Century was a major time for advances in dentistry. It is believed that the French physician Pierre Fauchard started dentistry science as we know it today. In 1723, Fauchard published “The Surgeon Dentist, a Treatise on Teeth.” His book was the first to describe a comprehensive system for caring and treating the teeth. Thus, he is considered the father of modern dentistry. Fauchard was responsible for many developments, including the introduction of dental fillings and the use of dental prosthesis.

Things that happened to me during larping that made me reconsider playing a fighter character:
had someone in an opposing line hook their poleaxe behind my leg and pull me forward, with me ending up on my back inbetween opposing lines
me and a small group attempted to escape from enemies through a small door into a building. recreated a station night club fire type of situation where five grown men got stuck in the very narrow 2m long hallway right behind the door. I was the only one to get through before the Great Stuckening, and proceeded to dramatically flail & fall over some chairs.
someone standing in second line behind me swung his fauchard at the opposing line. the only thing he hit was the side of my head, hard enough to let my ears ring for a minute
countless instances of misjudging where someone was aiming, ducking the wrong way and being struck right in the face
there is something very funny about facing someone one on one, sword and shield raised, making eye contact and then turning and running like a hare. playing a coward is so fun sometimes
speaking of running: if you end up behind opposing lines on accident, your best option to get back is to just dash for it. in my experience turning around to see someone sprint at you full force from the wrong fucking side is, for two seconds, disorienting enough for people to not immediately knock you over like a bowling pin
noticed that, during a charge, I was the one up front. for context, I am about as threatening as oliver twist himself. Yelled over my shoulder "Why's it me up first, I'm like five feet tall!". One of the guys we were charging at lowered his shield and called out "Did you just say 'watch out, I'm five feet tall'?"
on a similar note: upon proposing a duel with someone from the opposing line while everyone from my side was already slowly retreating, the guy next to me simply went "NO?", picked me up and carried me away
In conclusion, the funniest fighting characters to play are cowards and idiots. I'm also surprised that our injury rate isn't higher.

Predictions for Magia Record 2024
A new year is coming up, and f4samurai is showing us some promising things for Magia Record. Here is my prediction on the schedule for the year. January
First half, Kyoko (Haregi ver.): they always do a new years unit, considering they wouldn't do two Mami units in one month, I think Kyoko is the second best contender. Possible alternatives would be Felicia or Sana. Second half, Mami (Scene Zero ver.): The next scene zero update is in January, so its pretty much confirmed we'll get her this month.
February
First half, new Valentine's unit: Perhaps a Leila/Seika unit (with their doppel uncaps) maybe a new welfare unit too. Also, some more Doppel Syndrome doppels from the anime as battles? Second half, first possible ending to Scene Zero: At this point, the entire holy quintet will be featured in Scene Zero, so I personally am wishing for Mabayu's uncap with a doppel, and the proper reveal of Different Story's Minotaur Witch's lore. If not, then maybe a Scene Zero version of Nagisa utilizing her new recolor.
March
First half, second possible ending to Scene Zero Second half, Yu and Shi: It's confirmed to be happening in March, my guess is late March, after Scene Zero, its closer to summer (the introduction point of the original event)
April
April Fool's: A new Magia Report unit, I personally want to see Degarashi Mana, Iroha-chan's VTuber persona. It'd be really fun if Degarashi had a different witch form from Iroha. Also confirmed at some point this year, we're getting a bunch of magireco girl's true witch forms. It'd be fun if they also do the opposite, and reveal the human forms of the established witches, such as Zenobia, Teresa, and Lucy.
Also, maybe the start of Arc 3 at some point? Possibly? Who knows.
Personal Predictions:
These are characters and witches I would love to see debut in Magia Record in the upcoming year in the other two thirds of the year: Human forms of any pre-established witch
The 5 girls Madoka saved in episode 12 (The tibetan girl, savannah girl, viking girl, volcano girl, and bear girl)
Cleopatra & Himiko
Portable witches (Itzli and Quitterie)
Mobage content, any member of the Mobage quartet (Elise, Claire, Hiyori, and Komachi), or the witches.
The other Different Story Witches, the earwig witch, the postman witch, the moth witch, and the bee witch.
The two unnamed sisters who also appeared in Different Story who became the pin and pincushion witches.
Literally any Oriko Magica character
The remaining members of the Pleiades Saints (Saki, Niko, Satomi, and Mirai)
Villains from Kazumi Magica, such as Souju, both versions of Yuuri, and Kanna
The original Michiru Kazusa
Kagari and Ichika Kasumi from Suzune Magica(Maybe Kanami too)
Fleche and Lame from Tart Magica (Also maybe Fauchard too)
Riz's former partners (Machete, Frusta, and the Falce sisters)
Torte
Some of the witches from Tart Magica, maybe some of the background witches from the war against Isabeau?
Minor magi from the game (Aneka, Yumi Yuuki, Suwe Mikoshiba, Hatsu Tokime, Manatsu, and Ruri Mizuna)
The doppel used by Ikumi as a White Feather.

What is a Glaive ?
In a way that is appropriately confusing for polearm talk, it is in fact two things. The word glaive itself is French and refers to a gladius (itself the Latin word for sword), or by extension all swords if you’re a thespian or a douchebag c.Middle Ages. In the English language however it came to be used to designate a type of polearm known in French as a fauchard, meaning ‘reaper’, or sometimes as a voulge or vouge, the later of which overlaps with other types of polearms.
Tumblr media
Going by that definition, glaives are hafted infantry weapons featuring a broad, single-edged blade with a curved edge and a varying amount of protuding spikes or hooks, from none at all to a few. Note that there is no extremely rigid standard for the shape of polearm blades, leading to a variety of overlapping name for whichever blade and spike and hook configuration that exists. Glaives are not the most representative examples of that trend, but it's good to be wary of polearm nomenclature even on the best of days. These weapons, whatever they were named, were usually used by men-at-arms more than knights, and famously so by medieval Swiss infantry in the 15th century along with many long implements of bodily injuries, that would evolve into the pike squares of the Renaissance. Note furthermore that even in English some fascine knives/short swords were called glaives because of their French origins, such as the Mle1816 or the American Model 1832 inspired by it. These weapons were designed at a time were antiquity became popular again (for the first time since the Renaissance) and led to a surge in neoclassicism.

As both and empath and a rather paranoid individual at heart, Hriob has always made sure every aspect of his appearance and countenance is carefully maintained in its symbolism and meaning - his choice in weaponry is no exception.
Hriob is competent with a sword and hand-to-hand, especially Savate and Grappling techniques, but his favored/most skilled martial art revolves around the use of Polearms. He was taught by his adoptive mother as a pre-teen and teenager how to fight and survive when it became clear he would never be able to live a life of peace and quiet given his heritage and fate.
While he was first taught on the Halberd, he grew to prefer and eventually forge his own Glaive, a weapon similar to both the oft-simpler Fauchard and its far more improvised cousin, the War-Scythe. The latter was historically made not by practiced warriors in Europe, so much as peasants and farmers who had reason to fight back and, in this instance, rework their harvest scythes into something more combat-oriented. Even if his self-made weapon is indeed purpose-made for combat, reforged from dozens of far smaller spearheads smelted together, the sentiment remains that his is a weapon of a man who will fight for himself and those he cares about, but it in and of itself is not truly a weapon of War.
…if ever that changes, if he truly decides to make a weapon specifically for battlefields, he would probably make a polearm with a far straighter, double-sided blade such as a 'sword-spear' - with the lack of a blunted edge showing that he has decided to forego mercy as an option for the fighting ahead...
Tumblr media
Once Upon a Time, in a long-past lifetime, he made such a war-forged weapon for a young warrior named Hector during a conflict that would later be known as the Trojan war... said blade survived its owner and several centuries untarnished, even if it lost most of its pole, eventually being recovered by a wandering knight and restored to legend as the sword Durandal.
