An overview of Fault Tree Analysis and it’s synergy with FMEA
A fault Tree is a graphical representation of a collection of events and conditions that lead to an undesired event or system failure. It is a powerful methodology that assesses the various causes and consequences that can lead to system failure. This blog aims to give readers an overview of Fault trees, explore their components, and highlight their significance in safety risk analyses.
Before we start exploring Fault trees and their application, a short glimpse into the history of Fault trees. The concept of Fault trees originated in the field of nuclear engineering during the 1960s. Bell Laboratories, under the leadership of H.A. Watson, was at the forefront of developing fault tree analysis to evaluate the safety of complex systems. The motivation behind this innovation was to understand the causes of system failures and identify critical areas that required improvement. These techniques were later used by Boeing in the Minuteman missile programme. (https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/4740894).
Components of a Fault Tree
Events: A fault tree is comprised of different events that represent either a basic or a higher-level occurrence within a system. Basic events signify the lowest-level causes of a failure, while higher-level events are a combination of basic and other intermediate events. Relationships between events are established through logical gates.
Logical Gates: Logical gates play a crucial role in fault tree analysis, as they define the relationships between events. The most common types of gates used in Fault trees are AND gates, OR gates, and NOT gates. An AND gate signifies that all input events must occur simultaneously for the top event to happen. Conversely, an OR gate implies that at least one of the input events must occur. NOT gates represent negation, allowing the engineers to model negative conditions.
Top Event: At the apex of a fault tree lies the top event, which represents the system failure being analysed. It is the outcome of multiple events and logic. Understanding the causes and probabilities associated with the top event is crucial for assessing system reliability.
Approaches and applications of FTA
Fault trees can be created by inductive and deductive methods. We need to explore both approaches, examining their characteristics, applications, and advantages to gain a comprehensive understanding of their role in fault tree analysis.
Inductive Method in Fault Tree Analysis
The inductive method involves building a fault tree based on available data and components “in use history”. It begins with the identification of basic events, which are the lowest-level causes of a system failure.
Data Collection: The first step in the inductive method is to collect relevant data regarding system failures. This data can come from various sources, such as historical records, incident reports, expert opinions, and simulations. The goal is to gather a comprehensive dataset that covers a wide range of failure scenarios and associated events.
Basic Event Identification: Once the data is collected, the engineer identifies the basic events by examining the data and extracting the specific failure causes. These events represent the specific conditions or component failures that contribute to the system failure. They are then arranged in a logical structure using gates, such as AND, OR, and NOT gates, to depict the relationships between events.
Probabilistic Assessment: To assign probabilities to the basic events, statistical analysis or expert judgment is often employed. The probabilities can be derived from historical data, expert opinions, or established industry standards. This step is crucial in quantifying the likelihood of each basic event occurring and helps in understanding the overall system reliability.
Deductive Method in Fault Tree Analysis
The deductive method in fault tree analysis starts with the top event, which represents the system failure under investigation. It involves breaking down the top event into its contributing events and determining their relationships and probabilities. The deductive method is often used when the system under study is well-defined, and the failure modes are known.
Top Event Identification: This event is typically derived from system specifications, design documents, or safety requirements. The top event is then broken down into its contributing events using logical gates, representing the relationships between the events.
Event Decomposition: The engineer decomposes the top event by identifying the contributing events that lead to its occurrence. These events can be either basic events or intermediate events, depending on their level in the fault tree. The decomposition process continues until all contributing events are identified, forming a hierarchical structure of events.

Understanding Functional Architecture
One crucial aspect of developing an accurate and effective fault tree is the establishment of a robust functional architecture. It refers to the hierarchical representation of a system’s functions and their interdependencies. It provides a structured framework to comprehend the system’s behaviour and the relationships between various functional elements. A well-defined functional architecture forms the foundation for fault tree analysis, aiding in the identification and analysis of failure modes.Figure 3 – Functional Architecture
Importance of Functional Architecture in Fault Tree Analysis
System Understanding: By defining and organising the system’s functions and their relationships, the functional architecture allows engineers to gain insights into the system’s behaviour, failure modes, and critical components.
Event Identification: Each function within the architecture represents a potential failure mode or a contributing event to system failure. By examining the interdependencies between functions, an engineer can identify critical events and their relationships, enabling the construction of Fault trees that encompass all significant failure paths.
Relationship Establishment: The hierarchical structure of the functional architecture provides guidance for the logic gates used to depict the relationships between events.
Failure Mode Propagation: By analysing the flow of functions and their dependencies, the determination of failure in a component or function can propagate and affect other parts of the system. This knowledge allows for the accurate representation of failure paths in Fault trees, capturing the potential cascading effects and enabling a comprehensive reliability assessment.
Challenges and Considerations
While functional architecture is crucial in fault tree analysis, it also presents challenges that need to be addressed:
Complexity: Developing a comprehensive functional architecture can be complex, particularly for large and intricate systems. Analysing the system’s functions, their interactions, and failure modes requires careful consideration and expertise.
Accuracy of the Architecture: The accuracy of the functional architecture directly impacts the quality of the fault tree analysis. Errors or inaccuracies in the architecture can lead to incorrect event identification, improper relationship establishment, and ultimately, flawed fault tree construction. Therefore, meticulous attention to detail and validation of the functional architecture are vital.
Integration with Design Process: Functional architecture should be integrated into the system design process to ensure that it reflects the intended system behaviour and operation. Collaboration between design and functional safety engineers is crucial to accurately capture the functional relationships and potential failure modes.
Synergy Between FMEA and Fault trees: Enhancing Risk Analysis
In the realm of engineering and risk analysis, two powerful techniques stand out: Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA). While each method has its distinct purpose and approach, their relationship is symbiotic, as they complement and strengthen each other in assessing and mitigating risks. Failure of the function often forms the base event of a fault tree without further examining the typology of failure. A function failure can be represented in a fault tree as a base event, but the type of failure and possible causes are examined in FMEA.
Understanding Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA): The Relationship between FMEA and Fault trees
Event Identification: FMEA provides valuable input to the event identification process in Fault trees. FMEA captures the potential failure modes at the component level, while Fault trees allow for the systematic identification and modelling of the events that contribute to system failures.
Decision-Making and Mitigation Strategies: The integrated use of FMEA and Fault trees aid decision-making and the development of effective mitigation strategies. FMEA provides insights into potential failure modes and their causes, while Fault trees reveal the relationships between events and the systemic implications of failures. Together, they enable engineers and decision-makers to identify critical components, failure paths, and the most effective strategies for risk reduction, system improvement, and reliability enhancement.
Validation of Results: Cross-validation of results between FMEA and Fault tree Analysis is essential to identify any discrepancies or inconsistencies. The base events of a fault tree should be derived from a FMEA. Without understanding the base events, fault tree construction can be a lost cause.
Summary
Fault tree analysis is one of the most reliable methods to identify causes of failure events in safety critical systems.
A technically sound functional architecture is essential to develop robust Fault trees.
Ensuring traceability through a common set of functions and their failures between FMEA and Fault trees, is vital for correctness, completeness and consistency between both analyses. By aligning functions upfront and fostering expert collaboration, the analysis provides a comprehensive understanding of failure modes, causes, and consequences.
In the next blog, we will examine FMEAs and how to construct one to support the identification of single-point failures along with dependent failure analysis.

fandom loves to joke about how caleb must have covertly disliked zayne all this time because he sees him as love rival. and while i think those kind of insecure attitudes are not out of question with caleb i find it way more interesting to imagine how zayne probably witnessed a lot more vulnerable sides of caleb than mc because caleb felt he had to constantly project strength in front of mc as they grew up. and caleb despises himself for those weaknesses and by extension zayne for knowing about them but also can't help but start to relax more around zayne :)

So I do some writing on the side and recently a couple friends of mine started making this DND style AU about their WL/SOL/CTM maps, I’ve, accidentally, become obsessed with this AU and figured I’d put some writing on here for fun
These were made with a one time pass through as a fan of the AU, if you want to learn more about it, most of the content of this AU and its basics are here, and spread through out Lew’s blog. it’s creators are Lew (Ellery), CJ (Syyrin). Smurg (Flint), Chris (Iscariot), and Maruu (Mar).
Please check it out. They have made me insane about this. There is so much art and things I will post because of them.
Card Games
“You ever play cards before?” Iscariot blinked out of his half-asleep state and glanced over to Flint, who was waving around a small box in his hands. Iscariot looked to the box, noticing the similarities to something he had seen some of the other people in the cult hold onto whenever it was a particularly long day. He blinked back to reality when he remembered Flint was waiting for an answer.
“Uh, no.” Iscariot said bluntly, recalling that no one ever really offered to teach him cards. It made sense to him, he wasn’t supposed to show weakness, and play was a form of weakness. It may have been a good way to pass time, but it was never, well, in the cards.
“Really??” Flint said, sitting up straighter with his face shifting to confusion. “Not even Crazy Eights? Go Fish? Poker??” Flint pushed, only getting closer to Iscariot as the man shook his head and leaned back in response. Flint huffed and sat back, opening the box and pulling out a stack of cards.
Flint shuffled the cards in front of Iscariot, confusing the hell out of him, before the deck was placed on the grass in between the two, and cards were being given to him. He held the cards gently, not trying to put a hole in them, as Flint held his own row of cards, looking up at him with a mischievous glint in his eyes.
“So first, I’m going to teach you the easy basic card game, Go Fish. You can play this anywhere at any time basically, no matter what cards you have, as long as you have a full deck.” Flint started. Iscariot listened closely, not wanting to mess up what Flint deemed the “easy basic card game”. While every inch in his body told him that he shouldn’t be playing games, the other parts of him said that he should at least give it a shot, and he shouldn't back down from a challenge.
So, he started playing Go Fish. He slowly got the hand of it, sometimes fumbling his cards, or messing up the names of the suits, but overall he wasn’t terrible. He had even won a couple of times. After the fifth game, Syyrin came over and joined in, wanting to play as well after she saw the two “having fun”, which Iscariot wanted to protest. but he bit his tongue.
Eventually, Mar also came over, deciding to join the game. She made it her life mission to target Iscariot, obviously, with her one goal being to make Iscariot lose at any opportunity. And yet, despite all that, Iscariot felt… something weird. It wasn’t what he usually knew, it felt new, fresh, it was similar to a feeling he got when Ellery…
Whatever. Regardless, it was peaceful, calming, and-
“Can I join too?”
Iscariot’s breath caught in his throat, he turned to look at Ellery who was looking at them all playing cards with an expression Iscariot couldn’t place. He didn’t get a chance to say anything before Flint lit up
“Yeah! Of course! Here, after this game we’ll get you some cards.” Flint spoke excitedly, the group watching as Ellery sat between Mar and Iscariot. He watched the rest of the game, Syyrin won, and held the cards that Flint handed to him
Iscariot was fine. He could be fine. Being so close to Ellery was perfectly fine. It was just, a normal, card game. There was no reason for the pit of guilt to-
“How do I play?” Ellery asked. It was a seemingly normal question, something that anyone would possibly ask, but the way Flint and Syyrin’s faces dropped at Ellery’s question, only made the pit inside Iscariot grow.
“You- you don’t know how to play?” Syyrin asked, to which Ellery shook his head.
“Did I?” Ellery asked again, confused as he stared at Syyrin and Flint.
The space went silent, the cracking of the fire and the rush of wind being the only noise heard. Iscariot, however, could only hear his heartbeat, the loud, drumming sensation of his heartbeat as Flint and Syyrin looked devastated, and Ellery realized why. The new feeling he felt earlier vanished without a trace, falling into the deep pit of guilt that took its regular place in his gut.
He stood, dropping his cards on the grass before stepping back, causing the others to look at him.
“I will… check around the area. Play without me.” Iscariot mumbled, heading over to his weapon and grabbing it before vanishing into the woods, leaving behind the stares of the other four as Flint once again taught someone how to play Go Fish.

Thinking about how Osiris in ENNEAD is not written as a mastermind and, like a lot of historical monsters and powerful men, relies on the trust, affection, and goodwill of others, and a lot of luck, to accomplish anything, so assuming he's playing 4D chess with everyone else is basically always wrong. It's more like he kind of accidentally Xanatos Gambits his way into typically brief almost-success.
Osiris, like a lot of powerful men, is seemingly not that smart and also lacks creativity. He abjectly refused to believe - even when told directly by both Ra and Seth - that Seth could just like/love someone for who they are, and assumes instead that Seth must love Nephthys/any female god because she can make babies. Osiris' obsession clouds everything, even his ability to listen to reason or consider alternatives. His beliefs are the only ones that matter. He cannot fathom that Seth just doesn't like him that way. Osiris is so obsessed with himself and his own wants and is so used to people's adoration that he's unable to think outside of them.
Osiris says, "I tried everything to seize your unapologetic and ever-fleeting spirit" (S1E49), key word being seize. Did he try talking or explaining things without drugged wine or a brainwash mirror being involved? Flirting? We don't know, but Seth seems oblivious enough about the concept of Osiris being into him that way that Osiris seemingly never did (at least not in a way Seth noticed). At some point Osiris made the "I can make babies so Seth will love me" plan, which fails (S2E78). He seemingly creates/uses this giant place to experiment in order to chase a reason he made up based on a guy he doesn't at all know or care to understand, and he fails. And he also tries the brainwashing mirror plan, to force Seth to love him, which fails. It is possible there was a point in their relationship when he was trying, without force, to be with Seth, but everything we see - ignoring what people tell him, attempting to "seize" Seth, the brainwash mirror, and the sexual assault - indicates he can only think through forcefully taking.
He lacks the intelligence to imagine Seth as a person who has wants of his own that Osiris would have to work to match - and could possibly never attain - rather than just force to go his own way. He can't imagine a world outside his own head.
Heck, I think it's interesting while Ra is trying to convince him out of it, Osiris interrupts, "It's too late", likely because whatever plan to get rid of Ra was already in place (as shown by the heka staff around Ra's neck) (S2E78). Osiris wasn't there to listen to Ra convince him to try something else. Osiris was focused on his goal, and refused to listen to anyone else.
He's intelligent enough to marry Isis, maybe, securing his power and throne (S1E1). Without the Nile doing well, Egypt would suffer. He's literally relying on her, Seth, and Nephthys to maintain his power, though.
His ineptitude is particularly present during the mirror plan. He comes up with this idea: use the mirror to brainwash Seth. How? Divvy out the loot to his siblings so no one catches him acting directly (we can see Isis' feelings on the mirror once she learns what it is, he definitely had to tread carefully, so I imagine she was a big reason for the subterfuge) . Which means... first Isis might keep the mirror apparently (S2E99). She decides not to keep it, by apparent luck. Maybe Osiris knew her well enough that he reasoned she wouldn't keep it out of lack of interest. But it just feels like luck, particularly given the rest of it.
The mirror fortunately ends up with Seth's share. But Seth's not vain (Osiris cannot fathom other people not being vain like him), so why would he care about a hand mirror? There's also an increased risk Nephthys would look at it. Seth and Nephthys are married/engaged, the mirror seems more like her thing. The chances of success were next to nil and the chances of failure were high. Osiris seemingly went with Nephthys' idea of giving her his seed because he might as well, plus, it got him the power of creation, and meant Seth maybe wouldn't try as hard to have kids of his own with Nephthys, especially when Nephthys demonstrated she wanted Osiris' child, not Seth's, and it's her choice when babies happen. Osiris was lucky he still got something out of it and the mirror didn't end up moldering away in a corner somewhere, useless. I kind of doubt he actually planned for Nephthys looking into it as a back-up.
[As a side note on Seth not being vain: Seth has notably disliked being humiliated and not having his bodily autonomy respected, such as being dangled like a toy, having his clothes switched out or removed without his permission, or having his abilities or manhood mocked, which is all very different than being specifically vain (I think most people dislike being disrobed without their consent, or being mocked, especially when people they care about have already targeted things about them to insult, like Seth in his power and Osiris).
His annoyance with the fake sha mask when he faced Sebek's priest was because it got in his way while he was moving, not because he was vain about how he looked]
The night of usurpation wasn't planned, outside seemingly Osiris taking Anubis' soul (but we'll never know what Osiris originally planned to do after that, or if he did it while he was chatting with Seth; it's unclear when he took Anubis' soul, particularly given Anubis was still alive when Isis found him; even Isis speculates on Osiris leaving him somewhat alive for some reason). Sekhmet acted, and Seth acted on that. Osiris did drug Seth, so there was planning there, but Seth knocked the cup over first (S1E40). Even in little ways, Osiris' plans are random, badly thought out, and somewhat easily thwarted by accident. Who knows when he planned to reveal himself, maybe he needed longer to work with Anubis' soul, who knows? Maybe he planned for Anubis to appear dead so he could make the child from scratch elsewhere; I think Sekhmet interrupted him; maybe she acted because Osiris went after Anubis, but who knows? Osiris didn't find Seth first, Seth came to him after talking to Sekhmet and Nephthys.
Osiris ultimately failed to place the power of creation inside Seth (S1E42), and it's actually Osiris' own, single plan - drugging Seth with a cup full of life-energy wine - that is his undoing, because Seth uses that wine to survive being ripped in half (S1E49). Osiris fails to out-think Seth and throws himself into Duat (S1E48). Why? Because Seth has more real-world experience in strategy and winning wars. Osiris maybe won one war somehow we don't know (the humans describe it as Osiris shooting an arrow and striking the sun, which Isis describes as "horrific" (S2E97)).
Contrast this with Seth.
"Do you know how I remained undefeated despite fighting in all those wars? It's because wars are meant to be fought using your head." - Seth, Season 1, Episode 48
Seth doesn't rely on people loving him or trusting him to accomplish things (the one time we see him do that was seemingly with the caravan, and he knew they were already trying to double-cross him), in fact he seems to have gone out of his way to avoid involving any of his family in his job as the god of war, out of a need to protect them. He fought hard and suffered - without support other than humans - and gained experience. He can't do magic. And yet, even drugged and weakened and fighting against a god who can control life and death (to some respect), he still triumphs. Meanwhile, Osiris has all this power and he relies exclusively on it and goodwill for most everything, and Osiris still fucks up.
It's pure luck (from Osiris' perspective) that Anubis ended up in Duat after committing suicide. Yeah, Seth was fucked up by Osiris (and Isis and Nephthys) and that's why Seth hurt Anubis so much that Anubis went to Duat, but it had nothing to do with Osiris directly. Osiris took advantage of Anubis' affection to turn Anubis into a servant. Without Anubis doing that, he'd have had to... what, try to get Kuentamen to sneak into Heliopolis? His single semi-successful experiment who was in Heliopolis long enough to see Seth sleeping but not do anything else (S2E21)?
To Anubis, Osiris was just this uncle he was maybe affectionate with, who "saved" him when he was suffering, particularly in Duat. He has no apparent idea why Seth "killed" Osiris, let alone is he aware that Osiris took his own life. And Osiris took advantage of that ignorance.
Osiris relies on goodwill and ignorance from the other gods at the trial opening to let his half-truths stand the test of Maat's scales. He says very little and is lucky Isis has her own reasons for keeping questioning brief. Ra almost forced more information out of him (S1E8).
Osiris cannot control his pawns, and they are not good at what they do in semi-accordance with his will. Seemingly of his own volition, Horus steps up to challenge Seth when Seth starts attacking the room in S1E9. Osiris goes along with it. Judging by Isis' reaction, unless they had a private conversation, I don't think Horus and Osiris planned this in advance. Most of the story, Horus appears very distant from Osiris, and although their relationship is something of a mystery, it seems like they had very little to no connection prior to the opening of the trial. Horus actively opposes Seth dying, which is the opposite of what Osiris wants.
According to Horus, Osiris never even planned to have kids (S2E38). That Horus exists at all is not something Osiris apparently calculated into his plans, and he's, again, just going along with it because it increases the chances of Seth being sent to Duat as punishment for his crimes/being killed in combat. He was in fact mad when he discovered Seth and Horus banged (S1E34) (though I don't think he knows it was Horus).
Osiris fails to take Seth to Duat in S1E37, because Seth and Isis are too strong. He fails to take Seth to Duat in S1E63 because Seth and Nephthys are too strong. Isis is the one who intervenes for her own reasons in S1E72 to avoid revealing Osiris' actions/plans. Osiris fails to take Seth to Duat in S2E22: he's already dissolving and Horus, a demigod, crushes him in one movement.
Kuentamen (Osiris' one semi-success) + co only take advantage of Seth because Seth is a demigod at the time and trying to distract them from what FG is doing destroying the caravan (S2E21). And Kuentamen rebels against Osiris in his own way because Osiris' magic is imperfect (S2E21).
Osiris repeatedly fails to control Anubis, with the kiss, with Anubis staying with Seth, and possibly with Anubis going to Heliopolis to talk to Nephthys. The instant Anubis starts being around other gods (Seth, but mostly Nephthys and Isis), they help him. Even Horus and FG are matches for Anubis, and Ra can seemingly make him run away with her sunlight (S2E32).
Anubis still gets away from Osiris and Anubis was getting answers from Nephthys and Isis and they're now working to fix him, while Osiris possibly wants to ensure Anubis doesn't have any memory of his past to possibly better control him (S2E87).
Again, Osiris cannot even control his own creations: Kuentamen (and Anubis, and again, to a degree, Horus).
Osiris' plans, such as they are, are a string of failures with some luck relying on the powers he was born with and a supportive network of family and followers, which has allowed him to destroy most of his family on the way to his goals, and still he fails at it all. He doesn't really make back-up plans. He just flails, screaming at Ra, other creator gods, Seth, and Anubis, in his rage at his own ineptitude, blaming everyone else for not going along with his masterful design and belief in how things should be.
(Lots of rich and powerful men do that)
He did manage to hide all of it for hundreds if not thousands of years, mostly relying on people trusting him and viewing his actions in the best light possible (and seemingly because gods don't forget things (S2E73), something Nephthys is surprised to experience in S2E97, so the idea of a god forgetting things is strange, so they fail to suspect there's a hole in their minds about him), and having people who know what's going on who have reasons to keep silent that have nothing to do with his orders: Seth and Isis are ashamed and furious, and Sekhmet has her own plans. He couldn't cover his bases even if he wanted to (though I kind of wonder if that's why he agreed to Horus' birth, to try to ensure Isis stayed on his side, since she's been a friend and ally to Seth in the past (S1E46, S2E69)).
Osiris is adaptable as the situation demands, to a degree anyway, but falls back on anger easily, which makes him fail.
He can also figure out how to talk to hit people where they hurt, and that requires some intelligence, but that's it, and he uses lies to do it, striking at Seth's insecurities (and Maat's too in the opening of the trial). A manipulator, yes. Master manipulator? Ehhhh... Going after someone like Seth who already has insecurities, or going after someone (Maat) during a public trial with a powerful god ready to explode (Seth) hanging out, and twisting things, doesn't really require mastery of anything, especially if you're a trusted ally and close family member with hundreds of years of relationship between you and your target. It just requires determination. Seth was already insecure when Osiris got to him (S1E41). And we have demonstrably seen Seth is powerful (e.g., the underwater match, building the stone boat, fighting Horus, hunting beasts, diplomacy with Sebek's priests, fighting off mobs of humans, sweet-talking kids, pretending to be a slave) and rather good at most things he tries, barring the limitations of being a demigod and when he's distracted by fear, insecurity, pain, sickness, and rage. He's needed help from other people like Isis and Horus, but he's capable; Osiris needed to convince Seth of his weakness for his own reasons, in part because Osiris is so conceited he probably genuinely believes Seth is only as strong as he is because of Osiris. Given Osiris seemingly had no idea Seth could hear the souls of those killed in war (S1E48), I kind of question just how much Osiris even knew of what Seth's duties entailed.
Conversely, every plan Osiris has had has failed: he has yet to make Seth want to be with him, he didn't place the power of creation within Seth, he hasn't made any babies without a goddess being directly involved, he has yet to bring Seth down to Duat, he has yet to properly come back from Duat, and he cannot control his wife, his sons, or even fully the court. To keep Ra, an enemy he allegedly defeated, from spreading the truth of his backstory, Isis had to intervene (along with Seth, Horus, and Maat). He couldn't even control Nephthys, whom he's brainwashed. The only times Osiris was successful at anything was destroying everything around him and seemingly, to some degree, defeating Ra once(?), maybe through archery. That's it.
Osiris is not a mastermind. He's lucky, and barely that, because of how often he fails, particularly in things that matter to him. He's most lucky in that the people around them, for all the terrible things they do, are more trusting and supportive of the people they care about than he is, or else have insecurities he can control, and he abuses it all.
I think this is very intentional on Mojito's part, particularly to highlight how much powerful men in patriarchal societies, whether in families and/or governments, can get away with, particularly with the weight of bureaucracy not moving fast enough to stop them (and how much damage can happen while waiting for the wheels of bureaucracy to spin), what damage they can cause in the doing, and how they deal or fail to deal with the fallout of their own ineptitude, often turning around and blaming the more vulnerable people around them for the man in question's failings. And how even close-knit families in particular enable abuse.
He's clearly cottoned onto the fact that Horus is competition for Seth's affections, and is trying to get rid of him by marrying him off to Hathor. But outside of somehow setting Bastet on fire and trapping Hathor in a room, man's screaming in his tree, surrounded by dead servants, where even Anubis can't hear him anymore.
#ennead#ennead osiris#ennead manhwa#ennead by mojito#man's screaming in his tree and writing his edgelord diary about how all his failures are the fault of other people#there's possibly also other things in here about how patriarchy also fails men#by building them up to expect everyone to submit to them#and to only respond to other situations with anger#you can see isis' weariness with all the nonsense#she's so fed up with it#in the censored version of S1E43 she's just Done and she's been Done before#fallfthoughts

Hey y'all! Work's been more stressful than usual (I'm covering for a coworker's vacation) and I'd love to hear some funny work stories if y'all have any you'd like to share. I'll start it off with some of the weirdest contractor interactions I've ever had: - the contractor who never went anywhere without his cat carrier full of live ferrets - the contractor who, every single time he called me, said "aren't you proud of me? You're proud of me, right? I'm your best contractor?" (he was not) - another time I was covering for a coworker and so handling paperwork for contractors I usually don't work with, and one of them spent a long time on the phone trying to persuade me to move into his cabin in the woods. His methods of persuasion were twofold: he explained how cool his truck is in intense detail (I do not care about trucks) and he bragged about how many laws he was breaking while contracting with the company I work for. I, of course, told my boss, because a lot of the laws he was breaking were basic safety things???? But him trying to brag about breaking laws to the person who handles the paperwork he just admitted to falsifying was hilarious to me
#the person behind the yarn#tj talks about work#there's also the time I had to call a contractor and be like hey! why does the customer's box truck have a big hole in the side???#and he tried to prove it didn't have a hole in it (by sending me a photo that showed the hole in the truck)#and then said it wasn't his fault IT WAS THE TREE'S FAULT#and I had to say at work while maintaining my professional tone: trees don't move#if you were driving and ran into the tree the fault does not lie with the tree#also the guy who tried to convince me to move to his cabin in the woods during our first conversation#wanted to mail me champagne???#he was baffled when I said thanks! but I am allergic to alcohol

More family members gossiping at the reunion.
Yes I’m posting more stuff about the Jon Matteson (+ Curt Mega) character family tree. This time including more Jon Matteson Characters!
I went to bed thinking about this last night btw.
Bonus: Ed knows when he’s being talked about and Peanuts will hear about it. They interrupted his nap.

If you can’t read it’s all under the cut.
First picture-
Boy Jerry: Little Ed has a son? But he was so good at being celibate! I can’t believe he’s a dirty sinner now!
Officer Bailey: I didn’t even know he knew how to talk to girls.
Daniel: guys, it’s a squirrel.
Second picture-
Officer Bailey: Oooh! Yeah that makes way more sense!
Boy Jerry: taking care of another one of Gods creations in need, he’s such a good child of the Lord unlike the rest of you.
Daniel: Hey! I’m just 15!
Third picture-
Proud Papa Ed: Someone’s talking shit Peanuts. I bet it’s Bailey.

When Centipede-sama first saw the group of teens in the car it knew that they were probably tired. As much as it loves it's home. Centipede-sama isn't stupid, it knows it's a hard place to get use to. And it's home wasn't made for humans. So it knew what it had to do.
Play a game with them, of course!
Sure, they may be teenagers. But who doesn't love a game? Also they could use something to remind them of their world. So Centipede-sama decided to play one of it's favourite games. Tag! Oh, they were going to have so much fun. As soon as it started chasing the group in the car they immediately sped up. Perfect they know how the game works already, saves it explaining the rules to them. As they spun around a rock, Centipede-sama heard something break. And then they saw a boy fall out of the car.
What?
Nobody was meant to get hurt while playing this game. It's just a game. Nobody gets injured while playing tag. Did that boy really get hurt? O-Or maybe they just were really good at playing tag! Yes, of course. They knew that it would follow the group so the boy jumped out of the car and rolled away. That boy was clever. He must have played alot of tag when they were younger.
It was just about to finally reach the car. It was a tiring chase, but a fun one. Centipede-sama could only hope that they were having just as much fun as it was.
Just before it could tag the car a fellow Centipede came out and smashed into it. W-Why would someone do that to it? Turning around to face the attacker, it saw a familiar face of a centipede. It was him, Kyle. The bully. Kyle had been bothering Centipede-sama ever since it was young. They used to be friends, but eventually Kyle moved on and Centipede-sama stayed in place. It stayed at the old park where they use to go together.
No matter how much he battered and bruised it. The attacks never stopped hurting. Every single time it felt like it was being betrayed all over again. The feeling always brought them back to the memory of the first attack.
Centipede-sama learnt the lesson long ago that it wasn't strong enough to fight back against him. So, like always, it ran away. Like a coward. Running away from it's problems like always.
The next day Centipede-sama knew they had to find the group to apologise for cutting their game short and making sure that the young boy who jumped out of the car was okay. It heard from Tree-kun that the boy (Tyler?) Fell on top of him. And then was taken away from Tree-kun. It remembered how distraught Tree-kun was and it could only imagine how broken Tyler was feeling.
After a bit of searching it finally found the group in the school. So, Centipede-sama poked it's head through the windows to try and spot the gang. Finally, it saw the group and they stared back at it. It waved excitedly at them, but they started running away. Oh! They must still think they were playing tag. It quickly broke into the building and started chasing after them. It had to make sure they were okay. Especially Tyler, who it could see being carried by one of the taller boys. Poor kid. So heart broken that he couldn't even stand.
It was about to call out to the group, but then something small and sharp pierced it's skin. It cried out in pain as more bullets joined in on the assault. "S-Stop it!" It tried to call out voice weak and fragile. "P-Please, just l-leave me alone." It pleaded weakly. It was no use though as eventually it's vision started to fade and the sharp bullets became a dull ache in it's mind.
There was no way it wouldn't die. It would probably be for the best anyway. It's not like it ever did anything useful.
Slowly, it started to regain consciousness. Something was laying by it's side. Gradually, it found the will to turn it's head and see the presence beside it. Fighting through the pain, it was shocked it find Kyle laying next to it. "K-Kyle..?" It's voice was hoarse and scratchy. Suddenly, Kyle's head snapped towards it as he huffed. "Took you long enough." His harsh voice cut through the tranquility of the forest. "You need to be more careful. One day you're gonna get seriously hurt." Centipede-sama wanted to ask more questions. But he was being shockingly nice to it and it didn't want to ruin it.
So the questions remain unspoken and unanswered... For now

I don’t think I can understate just how much The Last Unicorn was a core feature of me realizing what I am??
because this movie’s song with the “I’m alive” line, DUDE I WAS LIKE… 9 and could not stop singing that song even when at that point I hadn’t seen the movie since I was 5, shit was imprinted on me
not only did the movie make me want to be the forest itself at the AGE OF 5… but even after watching it I never got over how relatable it felt!!
I sound like a madman maybe I don’t know, but the bit where the unicorn is howling to be returned to her body was a core memory for me dawg… live footage of a 5 year old undergoing metamorphosis while watching the funny unicorn movie
#rambles#IM INSANE HAHAHAAA#DUDE ITS MY FUCKING GRANDMAS FAULT DUDE#THIS HO SHOWED ME THR SECRET OF KELLS AND THE LAST UNICORN#AND EXPECTED ME NOT??? TO BECOME THE TREES OUTSIDE??#my whimsy cannot be contained !! In 5th grade I would talk to my friends about becoming dragons in the forest#living in the trees and watching humanity with curiousity
