Ravenpaw and Barley role swap?

I've been thinking about what Ravenpaw and Barley were like in the first arc, and wondering what it would be like if Ravenpaw had been a clan cat who left for the barn when he was a young apprentice, and Barley was just a clan cat who ended up being Tigerclaw's apprentice instead. However, I'm not sure if it's worth incorporating into my wc au (especially since I'd have to figure out how all their relationships change) so I'm asking tumblr to decide instead :)

I don't know, I don't think they should have went there with Marius. They could have kept Armand's history with being sex trafficked & his relationship with Marius would have still been problematic enough with their power imbalance...etc without this pimping him out line they've added.

The issue now is I'm not convinced how well they'll handle this going forward. What are they going to do when he does show up? Marius is a main character later & while he's as complex as the rest of them, Anne never wrote him as a villain, she completely adored him & even praised him as her teacher. While he has plenty haters, go to any AR post & he's a big favourite, hell any poll here on fave TVC vampire & he's right behind the big 3. I do worry that this has soured some to this show completely now & the writers have backed themselves into a corner as this is not something you can just brush away later to get him into the main group. Armand's feelings of abandonment, betrayal & wondering if he was ever loved at all was more than enough to propel their dynamic later.

... I am NOT trying to paint Armand as the big liar here, but he canonically lies to Louis (and Lestat) AND Louis reacts to the parallel he tries to draw there with Magnus and Lestat in a rather telling way.

Which... might be our cue that this tale... is also, de-facto, a tale. Oh, not a whole lie. In fact most of it I think was brutally on point. And as said before, Marius did send him to brothels to "learn", canonically. Took him to that banquet, where the men there... well, took liberties. And so on.

But Armand told that tale for an effect there. Took Louis there to make a point. In this show? In this tale? That cannot be dismissed.

So, with that said, let's keep in mind that we do not have the whole story there either.

Which, btw, does not lessen anything Armand experienced in any way. His life was a shit show, and it fucked him up.

I was curious to see her account and… Why is it all about calling Elriels stupid, saying that their existence revolves around Elain (lol her bio is literally “obsessed with Gwyn-etc/G’a girlfriend” 💀, how we created some fake accounts and reposting, as far as I understand, some ‘insider’ with a special info about polls. Including some random Facebook poll??

I feel so genuinely sorry for the Gwyn. She’s such a good character, but her stans are worse than Nesta-kill-IC fans.

Emerie doesn’t exist to them. She’s no one - its all about Az, Nesta and Gwyn. Thats the only thing they took from acosf, the erasure of Emerie is sad but they’ve erased Gwyns character and made her Az-obsessed so this isn’t a suprise.

Hi! yeah um no worries i’m always happy to answer questions.

but if you want some more in depth personally for me it’s because of the themes of yellowjackets. it’s a story very much centered around girlhood, ESPECIALLY in the wilderness. 

(gonna be using she her for travis. for the sake of the post)

we start off with only three guys - javi, travis, ben (coach martinez immediately dies lmao)

lets look at each of their fates - javi? killed and eaten. ben? isolated, off in his own world and… probably going to be killed and eaten. but the outlier is none other than travis. why? she becomes part of the group. 

the wilderness is at its core a place where there’s a complete shift in power and gender dynamics. in early season one travis plays up this big though guy, something that she very clearly is not. and everyone can tell because it doesn’t work out in the slightest. similarly to ben, besides his hunting (and other stuff) trips with nat he’s relatively outcasted from the rest of the girls. it’s when we get into season two when things really start to change. after javis disappearance it’s a rough spiral for travis, out of the rigid social dynamics of wiskayok new fucking jersey and into the fluid and very female wilderness. 

i’m not like. a pioneer of this idea at all and it’s relatively new to me but it is something i thing is very very compelling and interesting and i do really think it makes sense. i do think @periwinklekryptonite’s (though introductory) write up is very very good and he’s writing more in the future i think so im going to add that here vvv

I know you wrote, you have a ton of projects till the end of the year, but! I saw Ruki/Jeri in your poll and would you care share your two cents about them girls? Only if you have time. I loved them since Ruki was teaching Jeri to play the digimon card game 🥺 I think they are my fave f/f ship in digimon

First things first: You can ALWAYS drop messages in my ask box, I'm always happy and up to discuss and share my own meta about ships and characters!

While my personal favourite f/f ship in Digimon overall will always be Sora/Mimi, I can actually draw some parallels between their dynamics, particularly when it comes to the similarities between Sora and Ruki - I'll try to keep this as short as possible, but the main aspect here is: Both Sora and Ruki have incredible soft spots for Mimi and Juri respectively and thus break through the initial trope(s) you associate with them. You would not expect the more introverted tomboy (who start off actively rejecting typical femininity) to care so much, be so protective of and overall get along so well with the supposed girly-girl at first glance, would you? While Sora is having more of a big sister vibe going on towards the other/younger characters, it's less likely for someone like Ruki, who used to push everyone away and wasn't even seen interacting with girls prior to meeting Juri.

You would expect her to look down on "card game newbies" the same way she used to ridicule Takato and Jenrya for being "too soft" - luckily for Juri, Ruki had already started contemplating her approaches and view points and, probably for the first time ever, seemed to feel some kind of pride in being able to teach someone. It's interesting how she just... Immediately feels drawn to Juri, how softly she talks to and smiles at her and has all the patience in the world for her. Sometimes I feel like some scenes/moments didn't make it into the final product, because Ruki's softness increases a lot faster during the midpoint of the series (and it's really a shame because the more the cast grows, the less you see individual interactions between certain characters). Either way, looking at how she treats Juri, it's no surprise that, aside from mimicking Takato's card slash pose, Juri also copies Ruki's initial card holding pose. Juri is admiring Ruki greatly and through the course of the series, whenever possible, she does cling to her - whereas Ruki is there to protect and comfort her, but without EVER belittling her. She knows Juri isn't weak, but worries for her for very understandable reasons after the loss of Leomon.

Tamers overall has a very interesting framing theme when it comes to Ruki, her reltionship to her family (mostly influenced by female figures) and to Renamon - as mentioned, she is initially rejecting feminity due to a difficult relationship with her mother. Not only does she not want to be "like her" (a model obsessed with beauty and not having time for family anyway), but she's also obviously rebelling, lashing out due a sense of having to prove herself and displaying strength. We know she longs for the attention of her father and can assume that there is underlying trauma of feeling rejected as a daughter that causes her to bottle up. She appears incredibly detached and/or lashes out when others show her affection, which is why she is initially still tough towards all the boys around her. But she improves almost all her relationships upon accepting Renamon more and more as an equal partner and friend, culminating in their Matrix evolution to Sakuyamon, which definitely represents the beginning of Ruki being able to embrace her own sense of femininity. One might argue that there are also potentially romantic undertones in how her behaviour changes towards Takato and Ryo (which, as we know, is a typical trope in media to portray boyish girls becoming more feminine). But I'd really like to add that the first human character that brought out her gentle side was Juri. And thus, my verdict is - Ruki wouldn't even have gotten that far if it hadn't been for Juri contributing to her soft side coming to the surface. (Renamon still has the biggest impact here and despite being proof of Digimon having no gender, Renamon is still associated with the female gender and thus being another female influence.)

There is... A lot of wlw subtext here in my opinion (the RenaRuki subtext in particular is INSANE, if you think about it), but unfortunately, Digimon has never dared to cross that line officially. I do see the appeal in people shipping Ruki with the aforementioned Ryo and Takato (though I personally feel like the former is a little forced, disruptive of the group dynamics and also a bit too stereotypical - the latter is somewhat difficult when you see Juri as semi-official love interest for Takato, it makes the whole thing a little messy). But in my opinion, it would have been nice to at least show the girls being important to each other. Because they absolutely are, even if my memory on the final Tamers episodes is a bit rusty.

Ok so Ryou masks his trauma and pain behind smiles and Seto masks his trauma and pain behind frowns…Seto opening up slowly to Ryou so they can heal together is the most beautiful thing 😭 They’re just lonely, sad boys that think nobody can understand them. Plus they both have obsessive gamer personality, are super smart, and very competitive in their respective games. I love them so much | The fact that Kaiba's type is literally blue eyes / white hair (Kisara + BEWD) and Ryou fits that is so underrated. Also they could be weirdos together. | Wouldn't it be funny if Kaiba fell in love Ryou of all people

Ah, it's all written, I'm just editing. But I LOVE the last chapter. It's a bit self indulgent, and damn it I DON'T CARE!

I've struggled with the last chapter, which features Teddy Lupin, and I've finally cracked what I want to write - basically drawing parallels between Teddy and his godfather, contrasting Teddy's radically different his experience of growing up surrounded by love. And once that is done, it's just a bit of polishing and I'm good to go!

I'm looking forward to exploring Ginny's appreciation for her body, even after the end of her athletic career, when it is reshaped by motherhood.

There will be a scene where Harry learns the real identity of the attractive but mysterious office admin he fancies. Complete with dramatic wig removal. Will be less rubbish than I have made it sound!

do you have any favorite gif sets of yours from throughout the years?

i mean not really non they're all shit 🧍‍♀️

there are, i would say, three reasons people make gifs: to participate in the community, to keep a visual archive of their hobbies, and for the satisfaction of gifs coming out super prettily and lovely to the eyes. when it comes to giffing this kind of tv content, it's easy to nail the first two but the third? half of the shows are low quality "hd" ripped from youtube, not 1080p hdtv blah blah, so it's so hard to make anything that actually, truly looks spectacular, so you have to have other motivations apart from the satisfaction of decent photoshop skills to keep going (and i only became about 40% decent maybe 5 minutes ago anyways) >.<

that's why anything i'd say i like is probably not even a standout set but just something that's in really lovely quality, like this?

BUT FOR THE SAKE OF HAVING A FUN THROWBACK and you being so kind to ask such a nice question(!!) let me think about it for a moment...

the 2019 female top 5 poll was soooooo fun and i think the gif sets came out decently! i wanna do another poll super super soon

i always love this one of david and love how much everyone else loves this one from my fave series of taskmaster (everyone also seemed to like the latest sean set which was very kind)

for no reason other than having a lot of time on my hands and loving him i did this extra ass response to this anon and i still think it's funny heh

also my david x victoria sets are fun ALWAYS and actually i have another one coming up hehehe

from recently? kayvan turned out sexy (ugh speaking of handsome devils i always love f.05 alan) and also the s16e01 sue set hahahaha she is sooo funnyyyy

often the ideas, parallels, throwbacks, whatever i come up with are pretty good but the gifs themselves aren't anything special or even decent at all — which is why sometimes i remake the same moments a couple times over, thinking i'll immortalise it better each time (and never really do lol)

i'm glad you guys accept 1) that i'm not a world class gif maker and 2) we're dealing with so much low quality video that it wouldn't matter either way ↁ_ↁ
