*clicks the pen* How do you draw Vincent's curly fuzzy hair? I imagine you got a good brush for it but how about shading it?

So a lot of it has to do with the brush, which is actually my all-purpose brush I use for most aspects of my painting.

it has a sponge-like texture, as seen below:

you can see how the edges form that perfect fluffy shape, which is ideal for highly textured hair

I actually put a step-by-step of this latest piece up on my patreon wip tier, so I can show you how the hair was done:

so it's basically just blocking in the shape, using the airbrush for the initial gradient, then constantly adding more texture by dabbing the brush in short bursts, from darker shadows to the lighter brown/gray highlights~

I know it's not a super thorough explanation, but I hope this helps <3

sure! here's how i did the text for this gif:

first make the regular name. i used the Louis George Cafe font with these settings:

i also added a shadow with these settings (right-click the text layer, click Blending Options, then check off Drop Shadow)

that gives you this:

to add the initials behind it, make a similar layer with these settings, the style set to Bold Italic. and make sure the color is white! (i hid the other name layer just for now)

then change the Blending Mode to Difference:

now add the glow effect by right-clicking the layer, clicking Blending Options, and checking off Outer Glow. use these settings and make sure the Blend Mode at the top is also set to Difference.

now instead of being black and white, i want it to be blue. to do that, create a Gradient Map adjustment layer by clicking this button:

click on the gradient preview at the top right to change the colors. you have to set it to the darkest and lightest colors you want.

now, make a layer group and put just the initials text layer into it. put the Gradient Map layer right above the group, right-click it, and click "Create Clipping Mask"

now unhide all your other layers and you're set to go!

can i ask how you got into making gifs? and how difficult was it at first, was there a steep learning curve? it's something i've been interested in but it just seems so daunting. esp when gif creators post their process and i'm like wow??? that's how much work u do to make like four gifs??

when i was 13 i used to repost marvel gifs 😭 but i only started making gifs 3 years later in 2019 and my first gif turned out to be this below <3 (as of today, it has 4 notes)

biggest piece of advice is that, like any hobby or creative task that u undertake, its a steep learning curve constantly, and there are so many new techniques/ideas to try!

luckily there are a lot of tutorials out there, whether you want to make tv/film gifs, light pastel gifs or strong contrasted big gifs; or if you want to make kpop/stage gifs as well <3

sometimes i spent more time trying to find hacks and ways to shorten the gif process, instead of taking the time to just make the gifs but over time, you pick up on things instinctively i think! to me, its worth it bc i genuinely do enjoy it <33 and i enjoy the things i gif 😭
