Felix Carpenter
Tumblr media
Felix shifted back into work-mode as Nadia spoke, the cadence of her words pleasant and the content familiar. "I think my dad's given me almost that exact same talk before." He had to hold his hands at odd angles for this next part, as there were two buttons in rather inconvenient locations that needed to be pressed. "I need to turn off the connection for a quick sec, so your arm will probably feel heavier for a bit." There was a click as he held the buttons down, and a quiet thud as the servos lost the signal that held themselves in place. From the tray, he grabbed some rubbing alcohol, a cotton swab, and a small tube of something. "This shouldn't hurt, but it might feel weird." He cleaned the neuroconnection sensor with a few swipes of rubbing alcohol on the swab, followed up with applying some official Vanguard-branded Connection Gel, which the presence of could probably get the shop shut down if not for their more dubious connections and protection.
As he positioned his hands again and re-activated the neuroconnection, he caught sight of her face. Her smile in combination with the compliment made him glad he was already done with the more delicate work. His heart skipped three beats, at least. "Well, thank ya kindly," he smiled back. "It would certainly make it much easier if people got seen as people instead of numbers. I think that's why we get so many return clients and referrals." He paused for a moment, just looking at her, before blinking and remembering what they were doing. "Go ahead and try wiggling your fingers now, see how it feels."
Tumblr media
Nadia felt her own cheeks flush slightly after catching and holding his gaze, glancing away and subtly clearing her throat, as if that would make the air between them feel any less charged. After taking a deep breath, she focused on a point on the wall at the far end of the room and nodded slightly. "Doesn't really seem fair, does it?" she said, glancing back at Felix. "Sticking the most vulnerable members of society into that vicious cycle. They can't afford brand-new cybernetics, so they are forced to resort to the affordable option; which is only affordable because it's faulty, and therefore needs to be repaired more often. Repairs are expensive, so people put them off until they can't, and which point it becomes a much bigger and more expensive problem."
For obvious reasons, she hadn't shared much about her past with Felix, although she did wonder if the day would ever come when he recognised her as the former heir to OmniCorp Holdings. In general, it had been surprisingly easy for her to avoid people making that connection. As Aulia's stepdaughter, she had always been the most low profile of her siblings, and stepping down when she did had afforded her a level of anonymity that she was grateful for. "I admire what you're doing here," she filled in, offering him a small smile. "I wish more people thought like you and your dad do."

Crew Headcanons: Jedi Consular Edition. Pt 1
- Nadia gets into trouble constantly for getting into everything.
-Qyzen is generally viewed by the others as a strange creature but a reliable guy.
-Courtesy of Zenith serval fights that could’ve been avoided were in fact escalated. Thanks to paranoia.
-Tharan is the number one cause of strife because of an addiction to playing the devils advocate.
-Felix is the voice of reason.
-Zenith has taken up pet sitting. Not one to just keep eye the animals, he actually does his best train said pets like they’re a K-9 unit. He’s very serious about it.
- Boardgames are competitive. Tharan was top dog but couldn’t resist sharing/bragging. So the others adopted his tactics and now Tharan has work to win.
- Zenith, Felix, and Qyzen spar and train together regularly. They also have shooting challenges.
-The guys all talk shop together about all things warfare (and tech).
-Everybody has time for Nadia. To teach her or talk to her.
- Tharan will do what he told but he does have running commentary about having to do it.
-Zenith and to lesser extent Felix are security nuts and are on everyone’s backsides to be vigilant.
-Qyzen and Felix are hunting buddies.
- Nadia and Felix can cook. So can Qyzen if like like meat. Zenith well he cooks but let’s say it tastes practical. Very practical and nutritious.
-Holiday the ship decorator no questions asked. She is also in charge of the crews schedules.
-Tharan is the most up to date on news and gossip because of Holiday.

SWTOR: Jedi Consular Companions
Listen, I like the Jedi Consular story in SWTOR. It was the first story in the game I completed, and I still enjoy replaying it. I downloaded the game to play a Jedi, and the consular story gives, at least I think it gives, a better Jedi experience than the Jedi Knight story does. The big drawback for me however, is the companions.
We'll start with Qyzen, the first companion. He's a trandoshan and friend of the PC's master. At first, I actually liked him. The thing of him declaring the pc to be the Scorekeeper's Herald was not good, and I really think shouldn't have been there in the first place, but it was a single drawback. The Jedi Council is shown to have concerns about Qyzen and Yuon's (pc's master) friendship. When I first started playing, that last point got some eyerolls out of me. I've seen the movies, I know Jedi are allowed to have friends. However, on this 2nd playthrough, I'm fully on the Jedi Council's side concerning Qyzen, if anything my opinion is harsher than theirs'.
Qyzen, as he is, should not be allowed at the Jedi Temple. This guy has hunted Wookies for sport and shows no remorse for doing so. He doesn't believe hunting wookies is wrong. What if there are any wookie Jedi? Padawans? Initiates? Younglings? Their safety is more important than Yuon's or Qyzen's feelings, get him away from the Temple and off of Tython.
What I think should've been done with Qyzen: honestly, he doesn't need that many changes, two are all that are needed. 1. no calling the pc Scorekeeper's Herald. This never made sense, the pc is not trandoshan, not part of trandoshan culture, and does things that many Jedi could do. A nickname does make sense, both in universe and from a game development standpoint. I think something like "young hunter" (possibly "master hunter" later) would make more sense. It would be an acknowledgement of the Consular as a fellow and friend in a transdoshan way without placing undue importance on them.
2. don't have Qyzen be a wookie hunter. This is really the big one. It would resolve a lot of the issues that are created by Qyzen's presences as it is in the game. Maybe there's a group of trandoshans who think there should be limits on what can and can't be hunted, sentient species can't be hunter the same way animals can. Qyzen could have been part of this group (or even still is). This could even tie into Qyzen's side quest later of the wookie killing trandoshans based on information from a trandoshan. In the version I'm suggesting, the trandoshan who gives the wookie info on who to kill is telling the wookie to kill trandoshans who have sworn off hunting wookies. The wookie kills these trandoshans anyway because they're blinded by vengeance. When Qyzen and the Consular encounter this wookie, they could help get said wookie off the vengeance path or kill them to avenge the dead trandoshans.
We'll do Tharan next. Why is he there? He could find excitement, and probably be happier, without the Consular. He doesn't seem to like much about the Jedi, especially not their using the Force. I interact with this guy and I wonder why he doesn't try to find excitement and adventure elsewhere. Surely it couldn't be that hard for him to get his own ship.
My ideas for Tharan: scrap him, introduce him many planets later, or change his character to fit someone who'd hang out with Jedi.
Ideally, I think he should be scrapped, I simply do not find him likable. If we're going to change him instead, I think I have a solution. Make him a scientist who used to study the force. Instead of seeing something he doesn't understand and being rather averse to it, he wants to understand how it works. His dreams and aspirations on this were crushed by not finding enough funding, or something else happened to prevent him from studying the force. Working with the Consular on Nar Shadaa could than reawaken that ambition, and maybe he could use the Consular for his research (if they consent of course), it would give a clearer reason for him to travel with the Consular specifically. And maybe Syo and Fain tried to help with that study back in the day. It would change Tharan's focus, but it would make his extensive time around Jedi make more sense and explain why he'd have an anti-mind trick device (is that really part of exo-tech? that bit struck me as odd). Perhaps Tharan's working on Nar Shadaa could have been him seeking the most profitable work he could get since he couldn't fulfill his ambition. He could still have his tech knowledge, it just wouldn't be his main interest.
Now for Zenith: Zenith on his own is okay, not great but okay. He doesn't quite have the glaring issues some of the others do. My problem with him isn't really him, so much as that he's yet another companion who doesn't approve of the Jedi Consular acting like a Jedi. I think if we had at least one companion before him who did, I'd have a better opinion of Zenith.
Finally talking about companions I like, let's talk about Felix. Felix himself is fine, good actually. He's the only Jedi romance I actually like (I'm squicked by master/padawan romances, and Doc is just awful). The problem with Felix isn't Felix, the problem with Felix is that he shows up far to late. He's the first companion the Consular who fits the bog standard playthrough and is one of the romance options, and yet he doesn't appear until the last planet of chapter 2. This means he doesn't get the time he needs to be explored, as his own character or his relationship with the Consular.
Given his being a love interest and having the Sith holocron in his head that does absolutely nothing during the class story, Felix just screams underexplored to me. The fix with him, introduce and make him a companion in chapter one, maybe he could be on Tatooine so he could still be on a miserable middle of nowhere planet. And do something with the holocron during the class story, maybe we run into a Sith who knows about the holocron in Felix's head, and Felix and the Consular have to work together to deal with the problems that come from this. The love between Felix and the Consular (whether friendship or romance) could be used to help him in this. Also, don't end his romance with marriage. Instead, just have him and the Consular agree for them to be permanent, it accomplishes the same general goal without doing something that would make certain the Consular would have to leave the Jedi.
Now for Nadia, I like Nadia as a character, but there are some problems, especially with her as a love interest. The big issue with her, like Felix, is that she becomes a companion to late in the game. I think she should have become a companion at Quesh. This would allow her and her and the JC's relationship more time to develop.
As for the Nadia romance, it has so much wrong that I'm seriously considering saying it should be thrown out. The game's romances in general have power imbalance issues, but JC/Nadia has got to be one of the worst in this regard. I can ignore it with Felix cause it's not highlighted (it also helps that Felix is the one pursuing the Consular), but I can't do that with Nadia.
Okay, so the JC becomes her Jedi master and she starts to see the male JC as something of a father figure. This would have been genuinely adorable if she wasn't expressing romantic interest in the JC, and soon after her father's death.
Another part of the power dynamic in this is that Nadia is a Senator, she is the JC's boss. This doesn't get highlighted in the game with Nadia specifically, but it is the case.
Honestly, Nadia just shouldn't be a romance option, so much would have to change to make it not concerning that I don't even want to bother.
But what about male consulars? Shouldn't they get a romance option? A female one since this game came in 2008 and queer romance wasn't gonna happen?
Ok, genderbend Tharan and make her the male Consular's love interest. Keep Holiday, she could be a friend and assistant instead of a girlfriend (maybe there could be subtle hints of Holiday and lady Tharan being friendly exs) No I'm not elaborating more on that.

Swtor: Who Gives the Best (and Worst) Gifts
The best gift-givers:
Kira Carsen
Felix Iresso
Risha
Akaavi Spar
Vette
Malavai Quinn (He just knows EXACTLY what to get.)
Ashara Zavros
Mako
Torian Cadera
Vector Hyllus (His gifts are kind of weird, but sometimes end up being practical. Mostly they're just sweet momentos and keepsakes from the places you've been.)
Raina Temple
Lana Beniko
Koth Vortena (Idk why but I just feel like this guy KNOWS how to shop and exactly what to get.)
The worst gift-givers:
Nadia Grell (She's trying so hard.)
Corso Riggs (Gave you a blaster/explosive/weapon for the 50th time.)
Aric Jorgan
Elara Dorne (Genuinely thinks her gifts are great and useful. They unfortunately aren't.)
Jaesa Willsaam (Light)
Jaesa Willsaam (Dark)
Theron Shan
Doesn't even bother:
Scourge
Zenith
Andronikos Revel (Honestly it might be he just forgets to sometimes.)
Kaliyo Djannis (She also might even have the gall to expect something from you, but wouldn't care too much otherwise.)
Arcann (Unless you can pressure him to, he doesn't see the point, and reserves gifts for very special occasions.)
The only gift you need is him:
Doc (Has absolutely no idea what to get you, and all the audacity.)
Khem Val
Lol I started this before Christmas to try and get it done before then. Anyways, as I am creatively bankrupt, send me ideas! Of any kind!

felix being referred to more or less exclusively as "your soldier" in-game speaks to how little the writers put into his character beyond his noggin full of sith secrets & his relationship with the consular; still, i do find it kind of sweet and funny, in a way. he's not a republic soldier, not even your personal bodyguard; he's your soldier. the consular is a small nation-state in and of herself
#accurate.#felix iresso#swtor#jedi consular#open tags for My Rant:#going back through rishi and doing the cute little holocron quest got me brooding - as i often do - on my best boy felix#that the writers could not think to give him anything in KOTXX that wasn't Torture Angst is deeply shitty but a little understandable.#all the other consular comps kind of have a way forward that isn't consular-related when the consular goes away#nadia has the jedi. zenith has balmorra. tharan has his old illustrious career. qyzen has little baby clan and also his religious directive#meanwhile felix isn't involved with your order or a supergenius or a politician or even someone with a lifelong goal#he was a guy doing his best at a dead-end job that turned into a far more enjoyable but still lowkey dead-end job#i would argue they could (should) have sent him to ossus but i can see them balking because Doc was already there#that's a little narratively redundant especially bc Doc has an extremely useful set of non-martial skills you would want to center#when telling a story about survival and persistence against the odds like with ossus#(also he was in the group of companions second-closest in proximity to the emperor in base game)#HOWEVER.#because i am immensely sexy and cool and have a huge brain i think i've cracked it#the way to give felix a compelling story post-consular is to put him the fuck in charge.#no longer your soldier or anyone's. his own. maybe even in charge of a large group of people in need of someone to follow#considering he used to be really good at that#a group like...idk...maybe the rest of the people incarcerated on his prison colony?#much to think about.

felix ranstrom and nadia belcourt @ofwrxth
Despite Nadia's reputation for her directness, Felix always found it easy to engage with the Belcourt witch. Her steady yet unwavering demeanor was something he appreciated, even more so after a wine-infused conversation when he was kindly invited along to their family trip to Italy. This dinner, however, had a different undertone. There were significant matters to discuss, despite Felix's initial attempt at light-hearted conversation. It wasn't until they were already enjoying their meal that he prepared himself for the shift in conversation.
"I owe you an apology, Nadia." Felix began, diving right in with a calm tone. A faint smile tugged at his lips as he looked at her, knowing she was more than likely well aware of what was about to follow. "I, erm…" Felix took a brief pause to gather his words. "I didn't plan to propose to Bella exactly when or how I did. I wanted to talk to you first." his eyes held sincerity, and he gave a small nod. "I thought I had more time, truthfully. Maybe another year until it felt right but…" he gestured vaguely to the fact that, clearly, the moment decided for itself. "I think I knew that I wanted to marry Isabella the moment I met her. Or rather, I knew I would marry her someday. But I'm sorry for not including you in that discussion or asking for your blessing. Traditions can be archaic, but some have their place, and I happen to like that one. I always have done, for some reason." he shrugged lightly. "Your blessing and approval still matters to me, even though this is the wrong way around. I would still like to ask for it."

Crew Head Cannons: Jedi Consular Edition. Pt 2
- Tharan will sometimes take the crew out to experience ‘culture’ ie eating at fancy places or going to the museum. Felix is the most receptive to it.
- Zenith puts up with Nadia taging along, and actually is gruff uncle type to her.
- when the consular goes on diplomacy mission Zenith and Nadia are the ones actually interested in politics. Tharan and Felix pay attention but are more there for the good food.
- Felix and Qyzen share a favorite swoop team the Pit Screamers.
-For Felix it’s because the team’s daring stunts appeal to the part of him that wants to be a hero. Qyzen just likes how the Pit Screamers overcome danger and totally not because their team captain is also trandoshan.
- Tharan and Holiday like the Blatant Beks because spectacle.
- Qyzen respects Zenith, and Felix as capable warriors, and Nadia the Heralds student. Tharan is tolerated because his importance as the caretaker of the Herald’s ship and special understanding old metal things.
- Nadia has surprisingly found Qyzen to be helpful teacher about force things because of his deep spirituality.
- Holiday is the second person (first is consular) Nadia goes to when she needs somebody to talk to.
- Tharan is the one who teaches Zenith to dance as well as the other formalities that one needs to know for the social gathering that enviably await the politically involved. Zenith hates it.
- Felix and Nadia are probably the most interactive with Holiday, talking to her likes real. Zenith sees her something like tool. Qyzen doesn’t really know what make of her, he does take her for granted, the way you take the floor for granted for just existing.
- Tharan favorite people to take places besides Holiday are the consular, Nadia, and Felix.
- Felix a pretty good friendship with all the other members of the crew.

+ FELIX / PATROL
Tumblr media
It only took one scathing look from Nadia to have Levi change her shift from the cafe to patrol, and to make him aware that she's never to be put on cafe duty again unless he's keen to lose his writing hand. But the threat served its purpose as she joins Felix on his patrol with watchful eyes. Nadia is mostly quiet for the first hour of their shift before, finally, breaking the silence without so much as casting a glance his way. "Do you still think of yourself as a soldier, Felix?" Direct and to the point. No words are ever wasted where Nadia is concerned but the same can't be said for her writer. @manybcdthings

hand kisses
Fen/Zenith
kiss prompts
Tumblr media
The sociable guests of the charity ball crowded the entire villa, adorned in whimsical attire that could have been straight out of a children's fantasy book. The sheer amount of people--humans, mostly, though a decent mix of alien species as well--practically drowned Fen from Zenith's sight.
The Barsen'thor stood with his Padawan across the way, near an entrance to the balcony. Zenith, keeping Felix company, tapped impatiently at his glass of fancy, high-end champagne. His nerves were all sorts of prickled and on-edge. Big crowds meant more safety concerns, better targets for someone wanting to create chaos.
Fen urged Zenith to relax a little, enjoy his time here, or make some attempt to. And, granted, Zenith was beginning to let loose--until his Jedi was promptly dragged away. Some representatives from Alderaan had been keeping Fen from him for at least thirty minutes now. Was whatever they were chatting about that important?
Felix must have pushed another glass of champagne into Zenith's hand at some point. Had he even finished the last one? No, there was still a quarter of the glass left. His attention had been fixated on Fen the whole time; he couldn't even recall finishing that much.
Somebody Zenith hadn't noticed before was chatting particularly close to Fen, going so far as to feel and stroke the collar of his coat. The Jedi's outfit was well-tailored, by no means humble. The outer coat was ivory in color, decorated in golden trim and embroidery, and his pants matched the style. Around his chest and resting over his right shoulder was a drape of deep, navy blue. He wore boots the same shade as his pants, gold trim at the top, the toes and the heels, and they rose just below his knees.
By no means did Zenith stand out in the crowd like Fen did. He kept to muted tones and added just a splash of green and a hint of dulled gold for variety. A color scheme fitting for the Balmorran people, he thought.
His gaze remained fixed on Fen, even through the sea of people. And yet for whatever reason, he felt some kind of pull on his mind--and his eyes shifted to Nadia. She was looking straight at him, her face holding a tense smile. He got the urge to walk over.
Downing the rest of his first glass and setting it aside, and without giving a head's up warning to Felix, Zenith promptly marched over. He wove through the crowd, hearing Felix following behind. Must've caught on, Zenith thought.
Nadia's smile had widened as the pair approached. "Two more of the Barsen'thor's brilliant crew," she said, turning to address the representatives from Alderaan.
"Lieutenant Felix Iresso," Felix stood in salute. "A pleasure."
The same ambassador that had been touching Fen's clothes was still considerably close to the Jedi, Zenith noted. Heat pooled in his stomach, his chest, as a wave of jealousy coursed through his blood. He was probably glaring. Felix gave him a small nudge, prompting him to introduce himself: "'Zenith' is fine. Representative of the Balmorran Resistance."
"Wonderful to meet you both," said the ambassador as they leaned further into Fen now. Zenith's jaw clenched, but they continued: "The Barsen'thor was just singing your praises! He's quite humble, really, speaking almost exclusively of his crew's grand accomplishments and hardly a word of his own."
"Truly, I wouldn't be anywhere without them," Fen said, politely pardoning himself from the stranger's grasp and walked to Zenith instead. "Especially this one."
And Zenith's heart skipped a beat as Fen took his free hand and pressed a kiss to the back of it. His face darkened with a red hot blush. Fuck. Here? Right now? Oh, he'd have words for the Barsen'thor later. His eyes wildly flicked to Nadia, to Felix, to Fen again, and he was frozen for a few seconds before Fen released his hand. The touchy ambassador had a surprised look upon their face, too. Zenith took rather morbid pleasure in their realization of Fen turning down their flirtatious advances.
"Did you bring this for me?" The Jedi's smooth voice brought him back down to reality, and Zenith noticed him gesturing to the glass of champagne.
"I, um. . ." Zenith failed to find the words. No, he had words--just none that could make it past his lips. The sudden realization hit him, once again, that he was still amidst a sea of people. All the eyes in this specific group--the ambassadors, his crew, Fen--were all on him now. "Yeah." That was all he could manage.
"Such a dear. Thank you." Fen took the glass as Zenith hesitantly passed it to him. "Ambassadors, it was delightful talking with you. I believe I should take my partner outside for some fresh air."
Even without the Force, Fen could clearly tell that Zenith needed to decompress. Thankfully, the representatives gave nods of their heads, and Nadia offered to stay with Felix and keep them some company. And relieved, Zenith and Fen traversed the rest of the crowd toward the balcony entrance and stepped outside.
Zenith was still getting used to the sights on Coruscant; it was nothing like Balmorra. His home planet was highly technologically-advanced, with all sorts of factories scattered across the planet. But the Republic's capitol world was covered in buildings; not a fresh patch of grass or soil anywhere to be seen. Sky vehicles whizzed by below in layering rows and lanes, and the city was beautifully lit now that the sun had set. Lights from building windows and some from the hundreds of vehicles stood out in the darkness, illuminating their surroundings.
Fen quietly sipped the champagne beside Zenith, looking him over with a loving gaze. "I've had my fill of this party," he muttered. "You have, too. I know."
"Had my fill the second we stepped inside," Zenith grumbled, leaning against the railing. "Everyone here can't get enough of you, though. You're pretty popular."
"They'll find another Jedi to flock to eventually." Fen took another sip. "I could feel your frustrations from across the room. That one ambassador had no concept of personal space, I'll tell you."
"They were all up in your shit, Fen. That one was giving you intense bedroom eyes. Tch, probably wrinkled that fancy coat with all the clinging they did. Should charge 'em if the rental place gives you shit for it." Zenith straightened his posture, folding his arms over his chest. "I'm gonna assume you told them in some kind of politely sugar-coated way to fuck off, though."
"I tried, yes. Nadia had also made a vague mention of my involvement with one of the crew."
"You worry about your reputation too much. I shouldn't have had to come over for them to back off."
Fen idly swirled the rest of the champagne in the glass. "I'm sorry."
"Don't--" Zenith sighed, rubbing his forehead with one hand. "It's not you I'm mad at. Sorry I came across that way." He drummed his fingers on the railing. "Subject change. Know if this glorified apartment has any private lounges?"
Fen raised a curious brow. "Fresh, polluted air isn't doing it for you?"
"Not really." A faint smirk tugged at Zenith's lips. "Lounge would be a lot quieter, too."
