what if one day mu qing comes back severely injured from a mission in the mortal realm and he collapses before he can even step through the doors of his palace… it quickly turns out that he’s been cursed, and nobody really knows how to help him.
his spiritual power is almost gone, slipping out of mu qing’s body with every shallow breath and never replenishing itself. he’s badly injured, but the wounds don’t heal—they keep bleeding long after the attack. his deputies carried his body to his private chamber after he had fainted, but he’s yet to regain consciousness.
nobody knows what the curse is or how to break it. nobody has ever seen anything like this before.
feng xin shows up at the xuan zhen palace as soon as he finds out about the curse, even though it earns him furious gazes from mu qing’s deputies. he knows they’re just being protective of their general, so he doesn’t really mind.
he stays by mu qing’s side as long as he can, changing the bandages when the blood starts seeping through them and talking to mu qing when nobody else is in the room. it’s the only time he can openly take care of mu qing without feeling embarrassed about it.
and it’s the hardest thing he’s ever had to do, because he’s never seen mu qing so… weak before. so unresponsive, afflicted with a curse that even he can barely fight. thinking about it makes feng xin’s stomach twist unpleasantly, and his hands start to tremble every time he considers the possibility of mu qing… not waking up.
but no, that’s impossible. deep inside he knows much qing is strong, strong enough to even raise from the dead if it allowed him to annoy feng xin some more. he will wake up and beat the curse, eventually. and until then, feng xin will continue coming to the xuan zhen palace every day, just to check up on him.
for no reason whatsoever, other than to research the effects of the curse. not because he cares about mu qing’s well-being or anything of the sort. at least that’s what he tells other gods and his deputies, when they ask.
and he definitely doesn’t lay awake at night worrying about mu qing, sometimes even crying because he misses that infuriatingly pretty face and those snide remarks. he definitely doesn’t feel lost without mu qing by his side. not at all.
feng xin is a fool and a liar. and he really, really regrets not having confessed his true feelings to mu qing when he still had the chance to. now, he may never be able to speak to mu qing again, and that thought alone makes him want to… scream. cry his eyes out. punch a wall.
he isn’t entirely sure what to do when he walks into mu qing’s private chamber one day, weeks after the attack, and sees mu qing… awake. not quite looking like himself yet—there’s still dark circles under his eyes, and he seems so weak and tired—but his eyes are open, scanning his surroundings.
feng xin’s first instinct it to scream at mu qing, to tell him how stupid it had been of him to go on a dangerous mission alone and get himself cursed like this, how irresponsible and unprofessional! but a quieter part of him, nestled somewhere close to his heart, wants nothing more than to hug mu qing and tell him how terrible heaven has been without him. how lonely feng xin has left. how much it hurt him to see mu qing’s body growing weaker and weaker every day, and be unable to help him.
in the end feng xin only lets out a quiet sob, his hands immediately shooting up to wipe the tears welling in his eyes. he cannot cry in front of mu qing! he cannot! mu qing will never let him live this down!
but mu qing just… stares, his expression somewhere between perplexed and horrified. he has no idea that feng xin is crying out of pure relief, because a part of him had thought that he’d never be able to look into mu qing’s eyes again. that mu qing would never wake up, leaving him alone and grieving for eternity.
contrary to feng xin’s expectations, mu qing doesn’t make fun of him. he doesn’t laugh, or comment on feng xin’s reaction. he may not yet know how long he’s been… asleep, or what exactly had happened to him, but he can tell from feng xin’s behavior that it must’ve been serious, and he can’t bring himself to ridicule fx for having… emotions. for caring, even if they’re supposed to be rivals.
feng xin doesn’t plan to tell mu qing that he had been taking care of him, changing his bandages and brushing his hair. mu qing finds out anyway—his deputies are willing to tell him everything—and he may never admit this out loud, but he’s grateful. it feels nice to know that no matter how many times they fight and argue, feng xin still cares about him enough to check up on him every day. mu qing knows that if the tables were turned, he would do the same exact thing.
perhaps now that feng xin has experienced life without mu qing by his side, he’ll be more willing to have a honest talk with him, once mu qing gets fully better. to explain his feelings, and hope he won’t be ridiculed for having… fallen in love. with his rival, out of all people.
and, needless to say, feng xin will never let mu qing go on a mission alone ever again.

My reaction to TGCF Season 2 Ep 7 (Part 5)
*novel spoilers*
Tumblr media Tumblr media
His sword is so comically large idk it’s really funny to me when I see it
Ok but damn is LQQ animated so pretty
Tumblr media Tumblr media
RUOYE THE MVP!!
Was Ruoye smirking at LQQ? If so, what a sneaky silk band.
OMG WAIT
Now I need to see both Ruoye and E’Ming just playing and messing around together omg please
I love inanimate objects with almost animal traits to them, and I have the biggest soft spot for Ruoye and E’Ming you don’t know
Also not Xie Lian still talking to LQQ and giving him advice on the whole attack thing. I would have loved to see more of Xie Lian being the State Preceptor of Yong’An
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“You weren’t like this before, Guoshi”
“Wdym I was always like this, you just didn’t know”
AAHHHHH
This also reminds me of how both Mu Qing and Feng Xin, despite knowing Xie Lian for quite a long time, didn’t truly know Xie Lian either
And meanwhile Hua Cheng does
And the next line he says?? “Don’t create an inviolable monument to me in your heart without my consent”
I had to search that word up, but basically he told LQQ to not make an image of Xie Lian that was near perfect or something, and seeing the closest imperfection would make him think of someone different and make their image of him waver and therefore that image of Xie Lian be something that is not him?
Idk if I am writing it correctly like my thoughts want me to, but I guess I get the gist of it? Don’t know if that’s right. But again, the shot were it switched to Hua Cheng. I cannot deal with this anymore wtf
Except Hua Cheng’s image is different than everyone else, as it showed Xie Lian with all the imperfections (he was there for almost all of Xie Lian’s lowest moments) and he still loved Xie Lian
Tumblr media
And we get a small flashback
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ok but who is he?? I know he’s LQQ’s little guy, and he was most likely appointed by LQQ as his general or something in the heavenly capital, but who exactly is he?
I need a name for him now I am kind of invested in him. He also seemed to have a long relationship with LQQ, and while he’s not exactly standing up for Xie Lian against the Yong’An council or nobles (idk who they are tbh) he is standing up for the Xianle people to not be persecuted
We stan kings who fight against racism
Tumblr media
And despite LQQ’s complicated shit with Xie Lian, he still took his advice? Despite not knowing that XL was from Xianle, he still took care of the people of Xianle alongside the people of Yong’An because they were his people?
After all this he definitely deserves an explanation of what XL did, and while he is a bit foolish, I understand his reason for revenge.

tgcf fanfic recs - hualian
a pizza your heart (sorry/not sorry for the bad pun) - unitedwestan
In which XL tries to make pizza after having it ONE time, proceeding to give HC a panic attack.
it's a cute fic on xie lian being bad at cooking. what more could you want?
lucky contract - RyuuKevin
Or. The gang wanted to try what it's like to summon a demon. Due to Xie Lian's luck (or lack thereof), he managed to summon the demon king.... in his living room. ....and they became roommates...?
it's really cute and funny. does what the summary says. also, yin yu! this fic has yin yu!
not in rivers, but in drops - Naammah_Beherit
Death was supposed to bring them peace. And for a while, it did. Hong Diao and his sons have been carving a place for themselves in Ghost City for years, blissfully free of misfortune that plagued them in life - up till the day a blood rain brings changes and with them, the nightmare they believed to have left behind.
A really sweet fic that covers hua cheng's family in the afterlife. lots of face-slapping for the family that abandoned our dear san lang
straight from the horse's mouth - Alienu
If there's one thing that Feng Xin and Mu Qing can ever be on the same page about, it's Xie Lian. (Or; Xie Lian has a secret boyfriend. So in true best friend fashion, Feng Xin and Mu Qing don their detective hats and set out on a mission to find exactly who it is.)
SO FUNNY. featuring feng xin and mu qing trying (and failing) to figure out who xie lian's dating. it's sweet, it has xianle trio feels, and it's just wholesome all around. (also, background beefleaf! who could hate that?)
the boss rong gang in puqi shrine - tabulaxrasa
Boss Rong brings his outlaw gang to rob Puqi Village. It does not go as planned.
hilariousness when a gang tries to rob dianxia's shrine. featuring face-slapping and lots of dog food for the robbers, plus dianxia's bad cooking!
convenience store shenanigans - Lesbian_QiRong
Xie Lian and Shi Qingxuan often go to this corner store and get mistaken as a couple. ————————— “Is that every thing for today?” Claire asked in her polite customer service voice. The woman slightly nudged the man. He started blushing as he placed down a box of Magnum XL Condoms.
uhhhhh pure crack? outsider pov cuz it's near and dear to my heart and it's basically about ppl who come in buying condoms. featuring beefleaf, fengqing, and old pei x his lady of the day

heaven official's blessing (pt. 2)
(finished reading on April 1 2022)
my unedited annotations for books four and five (SPOILERS AHEAD):
BOOK FOUR
been too busy to read for the past few days but I'm super excited to dive back into this - that being said, I'm still scared of this book ending
and so we return to the past!!
okay so Xie Lian's already been banished? ngl I was kind of hoping to see the actual banishment because I'm still confused as to why exactly he was banished??
also it's weird because the Xie Lian of the past is vastly different from present him but you can also very clearly see how he became the way he is today
ah yes now we know exactly where Xie Lian's poison-cooking-specialty originates from lol
okay Mu Qing is being kind of a dick in leaving Xie Lian but also he's got a valid point, and I kinda sympathise with him?
oh fuck me it's Hua Cheng?? I knew he would be in this book somehow!!
“I want to protect them.” - no but this is his unfulfilled wish that ties him to the mortal realm?? like he just wants to protect Xie Lian, that's so pure and wow I'm actually going to start crying now
I hope one day to find someone who loves me as much as Hua Cheng loves Xie Lian, even if its just in a platonic way
‘“If you remain forcibly, you won’t be able to rest in peace,” Xie Lian said.
The nameless ghost didn’t seem to care. “I pray to never rest in peace.”’
no but this whole scene with Xie Lian and little ghost Hua Cheng is like the foundation of their current relationship - Hua Cheng protecting Xie Lian without ever speaking a word to him of it, suffering to keep his heart to himself
so Hua Cheng died in the war, that makes sense
wait what?? Xie Lian actually cooked something edible?? maybe his cooking skills are a plot device after all
oh so this is when Feng Xin gets all wifed up
no but you really feel the second-hand embarassment when Xie Lian is caught trying to rob someone, like he's really fallen from that gracious and honorable Crown Prince of the past
yo someone help this boy, he is literally having multiple panic attacks and has very severe PTSD and also probably depression, like boy needs some therapy stat
but tbf, that's all characters in every mxtx adaptation rip
okay but ghost fire Hua Cheng is genuinely adorable
oh so these are the thirty-three heavenly officials Hua Cheng becomes famous for killing - of course his reason for doing so was Xie Lian! I should have realised that sooner considering everything Hua Cheng does is for Xie Lian
“But, this hand had reached out too late.”
I think White No-Face's obsession with Xie Lian is because he is the Crown Prince of Wuyong who suffered a terrible fate and he wants Xie Lian to suffer likewise and join him so he won't be alone anymore
the one instance where Feng Xin and Mu Qing are actually getting along and it's Xie Lian who drives them apart, how ironic - I keep trying to make myself like Mu Qing and like, I understand why he does what he does but I still don't like him - Feng Xin though is my boi
I'm beginning to understand why book four is the most tragic and hardest-to-read section in the whole book
no but it makes sense?? killing makes you immune to the human face disease
oh fuck no I think I know what's about to happen
Xie Lian...what are they doing to you
fuck me but he is without a doubt the character with the most tragic backstory ever to exist
SOMEBODY FUCKING SAVE HIM
how painful this must be for Hua Cheng too seeing the love of his life bear so much pain and be unable to do anything about it
Xie Lian you need to tell Feng Xin what happened to you or you're going to lose him too
“It’s not like I’m a god, can’t I be angry? Can’t I hate?”
I understand why Feng Xin leaves but also fuck you Feng Xin! can't you see how much torment your best friend is in? can't you see that he's too broken to be left alone
wait the King and Queen have actually hanged themselves?
no okay this is too fucking much don't y'all leave Xie Lian alone like this, he doesn't deserve to be tormented like thus, he doesn't deserve any of this
Ruoye!! and now I understand what Xie Lian meant when he talked about forging his spiritual device with Pei Ming - I knew it would be tragic but never this tragic
he's on the verge of becoming the white-faced calamity isn't he?
Hua Cheng to the rescue!! and now I understand all the fan art of Hua Cheng in a smiling face mask
or maybe not Hua Cheng to the rescue? curiouser and curiouser
Xie Lian has definitely got something up his sleeve as always but it still hurts to watch him be so broken and in pain
and now we have the story behind the bamboo hat
Hua Cheng!!
ahh why do they both go through so much pain?? and because they're soulmates they feel each other's pain too - my heart -
I read a post that said all that happens to Xie Lian makes him “desensitised” to everything and that's exactly what it is - he bears so much pain and suffering and humiliation in such a short span of time that eight hundred years later present day Xie Lian just does not give a fuck about anything anymore, like he's reached the lowest it is posible to ever go and can go no lower and like my heart is in pieces for him but at the same time he's such a fucking icon
the truth behind his second banishment
and thus we have present day Xie Lian in all his adorableness, except now we know his full story
the only big mystery left now is his third ascension I think
now onto book five as we return to Mount Tongl'u
BOOK FIVE
I don't this even needs to be said but I loathe White No-Face with every inch of my being okay
no but its actually hilarious that Hua Cheng carved a inhumanly big statue of Xie Lian out of a literal mountain, like my man is whipped
the real question is why is Hua Cheng a ghost king and not a world-famous artist and sculptor?? like he should have his own museum and not be running the ghost version of las vegas lol
it's also hilarious how though all the gods supposedly find Xie Lian strange they're all still willing to do whatever he says, like Quan Yizhen and even Pei Ming
haha I knew Pei Ming totally ships it
its only been like a few hours since Hua Cheng and Xie Lian properly kissed with no pretensions (and they haven't even properly confessed their love yet - though they don't really need to to be honest lol) but I'm absolutely living for these casual displays of love, like Hua Cheng giving Xie Lian a forehead kiss makes me feel so warm and happy
I was wondering when Shi Quingxan would show up again - ngl, was not expecting this reunion though
absolutely love the fact that Xie Lian can quite easily kiss Hua Cheng in front of everyone when it's a high-stakes situation but gets flustered by kissing his cheek when they're completely alone, Xie Lian is just too adorable
Jun Wu is White No-Face?? what the fuck....
I thought Jun Wu was kind of sus but not to this extent
no I don't want Yin Yu to die, he's genuinely one of my faves and deserves so much better than he got
yasss we stan Lord Rain Master!!
hmm I wonder if Mu Qing's interrogation has anything to do with what Hua Cheng heard him and Feng Xin arguing about on Mount Tongl'u
I mean Hua Cheng isn't wrong, the two of them really have zero self-preservation instincts lol
yes finally, we're going to get the full story!
so Jun Wu/White No-Face has basically been manipulating everything from the very beginning? damn - and I thought Mengyao in mdzs was a psychopath, this is just on a whole other level
Guoshi ships it!! he's definitely confused about where all the gay came from though lol
I'm screaming Guoshi is definitely trying (and failing) to give Xie Lian some sex ed
this whole battle seems like some sort of crack dream
okay but Guoshi is actually the best
Guoshi referring to Quan Yizhen as a ‘fluffy child’ is the peak of hilarity
not Guzi!
this Hua Cheng is He Xuan isn't it
not gonna lie, I kinda ship General Pei and the Rain Master
Hua Cheng already imagining having a child with Xie Lian - I can't, that's too adorable
final battle approaches
Hua Cheng wanting to make a good impression on his boyf's ‘dad’
come on Xie Lian, you're so good at sussing out every other gods mysteries but you can't even figure out all Hua Cheng has done for you? you're so fucking obtuse at times
Hua Cheng thinking that Xie Lian was going to stab himself again - my heart - and then being reminded of when Xie Lian was stabbed by a hundred swords but Xie Lian just laughing it off - ahhh why did they have to go through so much pain
I think Feng Xin is slowly coming to the understand the depth of trust and love and mutual respect that is Hua Cheng and Xie Lian's relationship - he's definitely not against it now at the very least
also glad we're finally getting some character growth from Mu Qing, after 800 years
so this is the truth of Mu Qing and honestly, I can't really say I dislike him so much anymore, like I understand where he's coming from
he's still a dumbass for not realising that Xie Lian genuinely did want to be friends all this time though, but then again, if I met someone as good as Xie Lian I would be a little skeptical too lol
this whole scene is low-key hilarious, they're both dumbasses
scratch that, all three of them - Xie Lian, Mu Qing and Feng Xin - they're all dumbasses
‘Xie Lian responded, “IF THEIR ENTIRE FAMILIES ALL LOOK LIKE THAT, YOU SURE YOU WANT TO FUCK THEM??”’- I'm crying
okay now I'm starting to understand where all the shipping of Feng Xin and Mu Qing comes from, this whole bit with Feng Xin carrying Mu Qing and them bickering is kind of adorable
Mu Qing and Feng Xin definitely give the vibe of Xie Lian's brothers who don't really approve of Xie Lian's boyf in the first place but still don't want him to be harmed for the sake of Xie Lian - I actually love their friendship okay, however much history they have between them all
and now we get the rest of Hua Cheng's story!! I'm so ready for this
no fucking way - so Hua Cheng could have been a god??
he definitely chose the ghost life for the aesthetic lol
I love the trope when couples fight together as a team, like all the wordless communication and synchronisation
‘Because he wasn’t as good as Hua Cheng thought him to be.’
that's the thing though, Hua Cheng has seen every bit of Xie Lian and knows that he's imperfect, he understands him and sees him for who he is - Xie Lian, don't you understand? Hua Cheng cares about none of it, all he cares about is you, its all he's ever cared about
‘“Your Highness, don’t be afraid. Remember? The one basking in infinite glory is you; the one fallen from grace is also you. What matters is ‘you’, and not the state of you. No matter what’s happened in the past, I will never leave you. You can tell me anything.”’
nooo not ruoye!! :(
‘He couldn’t help but wonder—perhaps, to be defeated by someone, to end these relentless days of brokeness and madness, was possibly Jun Wu’s wish deep down.’
Xie Lian you are truly one of a kind - “shattering boulders on chest” lmao
‘All of a sudden, thousands of emotions, millions of words swarmed into his head. There was gratefulness, there was shame, there was heartache, there was wild joy, but above all else, there was incurable love.’
fucking finally!! it's taken Xie Lian way too long to realise the truth lol
‘Hua Cheng said quietly, “Your Highness, I understand your everything. Your courage, your despair; your kindness, your pain; your resentment, your hate; your intelligence, your foolishness. If I could, I would have you use me as your stepping stone, the bridge you take apart after crossing, the corpse bones you need to trample to climb up, the sinner who deserved the butchering of a million knives. But, I know you wouldn’t allow it.”
He said all this as the maple red of his robes slowly faded away.’
fuck me they better have a happy ending after all that or I'm going to scream
Jian Lan and Feng Xin deserved better, they all deserved so much better
I love how every little story arc is getting some sort of resolution as we near the end
‘Hua Cheng waited for him for over eight hundred years, so what did it matter if he waited for Hua Cheng for another eight hundred more? It could be a thousand years, ten thousand years, and he would still wait, and continue to wait.’
‘A smile hung on Xie Lian’s face, thinking, he wasn’t the only one who had fallen.’ - but I'm also bawling
‘Last time, they spent eight hundred years running towards each other. This time, it only took an instant to fall into each other’s embrace.’
final chapter let's go!! but also I don't want this to end
love that they've returned to Puqi shrine it's so wholesome
I'm screaming - this definitely means Hua Cheng and Xie Lian have already slept together lol - and Feng Xin and Mu Qing are just there like ‘we really didn't need to know that’
the elusive He Xuan??
I am living for domestic HuaLian
“I am forever your most devoted believer.”
---
after finishing the book:
screaming crying laughing I can't believe its over
this was a genuine masterpiece
also reading the post-script I think MXTX is legitimately a genius like wow, I aspire to be as talented as she is
(rated 5 stars)

Its my fandom experience and i get to make the rules. None of this is substantial and is just bits and pieces of whatever makes sense in my mind. Mu qing and feng xin r titan shifters that protect xie lian. He wants to fight The Walls so he joins the survey corp? Or maybe theres no political conflict and its just the xianle team meeting the other titans as a show of good faith to nurture positive interaction in the future? I feel like hua cheng is an ackerman like figure and his heart imprints on xl but they have a *teeth clenching* happy ending. Guoshi is the war general beast titan and is like a huge silver fox? Or wolf? Fx is either the armored titan or the attack titan i cant decide. Mq is a more androgynous female titan (the annie leonhardt ification of mu qing. Also i think hes built for the speed and adaptability of what the female titan requires. Maybe trans mu qing and he got the female titan before he realized? Maybe the name is changed to adaptive titan like ive seen before??) or mq could be the warhammer but i love his hair too much to cover it up. Ive said it before but he xuan is an evil ymir freckles his jaw titan is shaped after his bone fish he has an angler fish like face

Office Confusion
Thinking about modern AU with co-workers Hualian where XL thinks they’re dating while HC is just oblivious.
When XL sees he’s looked at and can distinguish the fondness HC unknowingly communicates, he quickly returns these sentiments. Considering how much time they spend together, presenting gifts, holding hands, etc. XL concludes that yes, he and HC are definitely dating.
On the other hand, HC needs more than a perceived mutual feeling because he doesn’t view himself as remotely likeable, especially to someone as out of his league as XL. For HC, to think that XL could ever be interested in him romantically seems impossible unless XL outright admits it.
Plus, HC is convinced XL likes FX.
(XL, offhandedly: “-but yeah, I like my men with long hair.”
HC, who has long hair: *thinking* “Oh great, Feng Xin has long hair. Wonderful.”
However, dating or not, HC is still grateful to have XL in his life. XL is truly the sunshine that lights HC’s world up, constantly bringing him coffee in the morning or sharing lunch breaks together. It never fails to blow HC’s mind how regardless of who else vies for XL’s attention, whether it’s SQX or a few random colleagues, XL will always include and choose HC in the end.
On a daily basis, if HC ever catches sight of XL in his peripheral while working on code, his eye will stray to XL but his fingers continue typing without a problem. HX—who usually sits in the chair next to HC working on the same code—won’t hesitate to whack the back of HC’s head with a rolled up magazine because “If there’s so much as ONE typo, we’re /fucked./ Focus your whipped-ass on this stupid code or so help me god-”
It’s a well known fact that XL gives the best hugs. Everyone knows this, even MQ will admit but never out loud. But to XL, it’s HC who gives the best hugs because HC is tol and warm and smells really good. HC always wraps his arms around XL so gently but also comfortingly; he caresses XL’s head, and if he speaks, XL can listen to the deep vibrations resounding from HC’s chest. The close proximity is the best kind of recharge!
Additionally, XL sneak attacks with back hugs and HC is always like 🧍🏻 before realizing relaxing-
(HC ready to tackle a bitch down: “😡”
HC when he realizes it’s XL: “🥰”)
***
SQX: “Xie Lian, are you going to the party tonight? At the new bar a couple streets down?”
XL: “Hmm, no. Maybe next time!”
HC, known not to go to office parties, nudges XL: “Gege, I thought you wanted to try out that bar since it opened last week?”
XL: “I do, but San Lang hasn’t eaten dinner and it’s already 8 PM. After work, let’s eat at the dim sum place we like!”
HC: *heart goes boom boom* “Are you sure? I heard Fengxin is going to the party…”
XL: “Okay? Good for him.”
HC: ??
XL: *boops HC’s nose* “And of course I’m sure! I love eating with my San Lang!”
HC: ;)
SQX: :/
***
HX to HC later: “What the fuck was that?”
HC, who is tired: ??
HX: “You’re dating Xie Lian and you didn’t tell me?”
HC, looking around: “Whomst?”
On the other side of the room...
SQX to XL: “What in the hell was that back there?”
XL: “I’m just as confused as you are.”
SQX: “I thought you two were dating?”
XL: “BUT WE ARE-”
The simultaneous words of “whomst” and “BUT WE ARE” clash in the stuffy atmosphere of the work room. HC and XL look at each other from across the room: 👁👄👁 or 👁👄
HX and SQX: 🤔🤔
HC to HX: “Why do you say that anyway? Gege and I haven’t even kissed before.” 🤨
SQX to XL: “You’re telling me you’re dating but haven’t kissed yet?”
HX to HC: “You’re not the most affectionate person, maybe he’s just taking it-“
XL, whisper-shouting to SQX: “I’M TAKING IT SLOW-”
XL: *pauses*
XL, sadly: “Oh no, what if he doesn’t want to kiss me at all?”
SQX: “Wait, Xie Lian, breathe-“
XL: “WHAT IF HE DOESN’T FIND ME ATTRACTIVE?” 💀
HC to HX: “How could Gege be dating me when he fancies Feng Xin?” 🤕
HuaLian making eye contact across the room again: ☹️☹️
They give each other the most awkward smiles ever, then slowly turn back to who they were talking to. Feng Xin walks into the room. HC visibly deflates as FX goes over to say hi to XL and SQX.
HC: “See? Gege’s face brightened up when Mr. Fuckface walked in.”
FX to XL: “See? Hua Cheng looked like he wanted to slaughter me as soon as I walked in.”
XL: “Nonsense. San Lang would never.”
FX: 😐 “Anyways, Mu Qing isn’t budging on his side of the proposal. We’re going to have to stay late again to come to an agreement.” 😑 “Are you going to the party tonight?”
XL: “Ahhh I was actually going to get dinner with San Lang-“ *gestures over to HC*
HC, previously glaring daggers: *blinks* “Why is Gege pointing to me?”
HX, sighing: “You’re hopeless.”
***
When XL finally has the guts to confront HC: “San Lang, we were taking it slow but right now, if you don’t stop me, I’m taking the first step.”
HC: ???
Upon seeing no negative reaction–granted, HC is too confused to react–XL just leans in and gives HC the softest kiss ever. It’s a bit crooked too-
HC: ?!?!?!??
XL in his mind: “Oh god, this feels so good! I really like him, I’m never going to stop kissing him-”
HC in his mind: “WHATHEFUCKWHATTHEFUUUUUCK”
When they part, XL: “I loved that, thank you.”
HC: “Thank me? Gege, what was that?”
Once again, they look at each other like: ??????
XL: “Was it too fast? Oh god, I’m so sorry!!”
HC: “W-what?”
(HC, on his bed wide awake at ungodly hours at night after XL kissed him: “I had a boyfriend all this time? AND I DIDN’T KNOW IT????” *screams into pillow*)
***
XL avoids HC after the kiss, too ashamed that they weren’t on the same page. HC tries to talk to XL about it. But XL being the clumsy ball of nerves he is, does a sharp 180 turn the other way whenever he spots HC approaching. One time, XL nearly runs into a wall, HC shouting from behind: “GEGE BE CAREFUL” but XL has already made his escape.
One week later, HC backs XL into a corner after finally catching his runaway-gege. HC places his arms next to XL’s head, caging him in: “Gege, please listen to me.”
XL, looking up at HC with wide eyes:  “Y-yes?” 😳😳😳
(XL internally: “s-sir”)
HC, searching XL’s eyes: “Be honest, are we dating?”
XL, avoiding eye contact: “If San Lang doesn’t want to, then no...“
HC, crowding into XL’s space even further to convey he most certainly wants to: “Yes or no, Gege?”
XL, pouting: “San Laaaang, don’t tease.”
HC, murmuring: “I’m not teasing you. I’m seriously asking. Because believe me, if I had known you thought we were dating since the start, I would have treated you like a king.“
XL internally combusts at HC’s words because how could HC be any kinder and lovelier to him!? HC is already peak boyfriend material in XL’s books. When XL hasn’t answered for a solid twenty seconds, HC begins to pull back. XL panics, he tugs on HC’s tie to keep him close.
XL: “San Lang, you already treat me so well! You don’t need to change anything! As long as you continue to be…with me, however you choose, just that much is enough.” 🥺
HC stares down at XL, wide-eyed because XL truly thinks the world of him. He exhales in relief, immediately engulfing XL in a bear hug: “Gege, you’re an absolute Angel.”
XL, happy to get a HC-hug: “no u”
HC: ???
HC: “Shush, I uno reverse card you.”
XL: “Okay but I literally fell for you the first time we met. I win.”
***
HX walking in to see HC coding with XL in his lap: *walks back out*
***
During Hualian’s lunch break in the small garden on the ground floor of their workplace...
HC: “Wait, so you never liked Feng Xin?“
XL: “When did I ever say that?”
HC: …
XL: “San Lang, we’ve gone grocery shopping together.”
HC: “You’re telling me you don’t do that with other people?”
XL: “Hmm.”
HC: “Not even Feng Xin?”
XL: “Especially not Feng Xin, he has Mu Qing for that.”
HC, double confused: “wat”
***
HC dropping XL off after a date. As XL is about to exit out of the passenger seat, HC unbuckles his seatbelt, muttering a firm, “Gege, wait.”
“Hmm?”
XL goes to turn around. Large hands lovingly cup his cheeks, angling his face to the side as HC surges forward to press their lips together, effectively stealing XL’s breath away. XL gasps as they part, not having any time to process before HC reconnects their lips, more confidently this time. He’s so gentle that XL can’t help but whimper as he closes his eyes in pure bliss.
So this is what it means to share a kiss with someone you’re completely smitten with.
XL tries to scoot closer except the middle compartment poses a barrier. Meanwhile, HC smoothly slides a hand down XL’s nape, holding him in place as they continue exchanging passionate kisses. When XL tries catching his breath, he feels the heart-stuttering sensation of slender fingers ghosting along his jawline, prompting him to relax his mouth. HC takes full control, languidly licking into XL’s mouth, mapping out every crevice like a promise to store it in memory.
Thirty minutes later...
HC: “Thank you for our first date.”
XL: “Well, for me this is like the twelfth date. But yeah, first sounds good too.”
***
Years down the road, HuaLian never agree on what their anniversary date is.
HC: “We’ve been dating for a year, three months and seventeen days.”
XL: “No! We’ve been dating for a year, eleven months and five days.”
HC: “Gege, you’re just making stuff up now.”
XL: “Well, I can’t help it that I love you more.”
HC: *pauses* “NOW HOLD ON-”
XL, bragging: “I’ve been San Lang’s boyfriend longer than he’s been my boyfriend.” *cheeky smile*
HC, prowling over with a challenging expression: “Fine, then allow me to make it up to you.”
XL: 😳
XL: “Wait, where’d your clothes go??”

QiQing (Qi Rong x Mu Qing) headcanons because I want more content and despite having the motivation and inspiration I completely lack the time at the moment
- Mu Qing loves and needs physical affection but will be damned if he admits it out loud/definitely struggles asking for it. Luckily for him, Qi Rong is very touchy. Hugs. Coming up behind him and wrapping his arms around him throughout the day. Handholding. Qi Rong LOVES handholding. He'll also check in with Mu Qing, though he does so in a way that makes it so neither of them lose face. After all, Xie Lian is/was at least beloved by many. Mu Qing has never had that privilege. If he was suspected of close relations with a ghost, he's sure he'd be laughed out of the heavens and never get any willing allies ever again.
- Qi Rong's trying to get better at acts of service for Mu Qing. He doesn't want his beloved martial god to ever feel lesser than or like he only lives and exists to serve others and never himself. Never again.
- Mu Qing is the only other person (outside of Lang Qian Qiu and Qi Rong) Gu Zi recognizes as a dad.
- Mu Qing shared his private communication array password with Qi Rong and Gu Zi. Usually they use it to ask when he'll come over/be free. Sometimes Qi Rong uses it for typical Qi Rong things, mainly complaining about the other gods or asking Mu Qing for child support payments (once Mu Qing was busier than he thought when he entered the communication array, so he tried to make sex noises to get Mu Qing's attention. Considering Mu Qing's cultivation route, it really backfired on him and he never tried again.)
- Both of them venting about how people always assume the worst of their good deeds :(
- Qi Rong is surprisingly a good malewife. He cooks pretty well and learned to sew. The only thing he does poorly with is cleaning/organizing (he tends to just stuff clutter out of sight and out of mind)
- Qi Rong's favorite thing about having a martial god husband? The fat tits/pecs. He likes "warming" his hands on them when Mu Qing finishes training
- Mu Qing's favorite thing about having a ghost husband? He's nice and cold, which helps since Mu Qing often feels like a walking furnace and it makes him quite uncomfortable. But Qi Rong? Qi Rong's like the cold side of the pillow. Very satisfying to hug.
- Aside from words of affirmation and physical touch, Qi Rong's love language is gifts and Mu Qing's is acts of service. It makes them both feel special
- Mu Qing was the one that suggested Qi Rong fashion earrings like the lockets the Shi brothers have (after Gu Zi accidentally twisted his ankle while staying in the heavens with Mu Qing and Qi Rong threw a fit when he found out a day later)
- He also has a matching ring with Qi Rong that functions the same way, but Qi Rong hates wearing it. It practically gives him a heart attack whenever he hears it cry until he remembers - Mu Qing is a martial god. He's going to get hurt, but he'll always get better. He needs to.
- Since they want to set a good example for Gu Zi, Mu Qing has an eyeroll jar and Qi Rong has a swear jar.
- They have (read as: attempted to have) had double dates with Hualian and later Feng Xin and Jian Lan. The latter ended in them all making fun/teasing of Feng Xin and the former ended in them becoming homophobic homosexual energy
please feel free to add on to this!! but my brain is fried and I just keep imagining them happy together and my thoughts get cheesier and more incoherent

@safaerax said: Only after the second? Or was it the third time Feng Xin had woken up in a daze did Xie Lian finally stop trembling. Visions of the attack had continue to plague him, questions about who had thrown the blade and why. It happened so fast, and before he knew it he was covered in his blood, watching as Feng Xin had courageously taken the hit. Xie Lian could feel the way the pain at seeing him fighting to stay strong, urging for him to run away. Feng Xin was no longer his bodyguard, he didn't have to continue to protect him and yet the fact that he did made Xie Lian chest so heavy.
his highness had been so worried, so insistent on staying next to Feng Xin he was still wearing the same robes from earlier, though the blood had long since dried, he didn't want to miss a moment where Feng Xin finally woke up. The first time he woke he was frantic, asking for him to make sure he was okay even when he was the one in a worse position. Xie Lian knew he needed to be here.
The prince was quite watching him sleep, trying to ignore how bandaged up his body was. Fingers moved through, brushing back his bangs and smoothing through the raven locks until he saw those eyebrows knit together, his body moving slightly before his eyes opened and Xie Lian was looking down at him. ' Feng Xin?' he called softly, not wanting to startle him. ' You're okay, please take it easy' // CUZ I HAVE A NEED.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Confusion  and  uncertainty  hung  heavy  like  a  fog  in  his  mind  as  Feng  Xin  slowly  started  coming  to  again  out  of  the  pained  sleepy  he’d  fallen  into.  He  could  vividly  remember  the  attack  ,  the  horror  on  Xie  Lian’s  face  that  had  almost  made  him  want  to  apologize  for  having  to  witness  this.  But  there  things  got  blurry  ,   he  remembered  breaking  the  top  of  the  sword  off  ,  some  fighting...and  then  nothing.  A  blur  of  some  medical  god’s  face  at  one  point  ,  a  frantic  moment  of  panic  for  his  highness  ,  and  that  was  it.  (  A  fact  the  to  anyone  else  would  make  sense  as  he’d  only  been  conscious  for  a  few  seconds  both  times  in  a  panic  for  His  Highness  only  to  immediately  pass  out  again.  )
Everything  hurt.  His  chest  ,  his  hands  ,  whatever  other  nicks  that  had  landed  on  him.  He  could  feel  the  tightness  of  the  bandaging  around  him  ,  a  slight  lingering  warmth  from  spiritual  energy  used  to  stabilize  him  filling  him.  Though  there  was  someone  caressing  his  hair  in  a  soothing  manner  and  distracted  from  the  pain.  The  god  forced  open  his  eyes.  His  Highness. He  remembered  something  about  him  being  okay  but...
The  small  spike  of  concern  disappeared  as  fast  as  it  had  suddenly  surged  forward  as  he  slowly  blinked  again  and  focused  on  the  face  peering  down  at  him.  His  brain  might  have  been  sluggish  to  process  what  he  was  looking  at  ,  but  he  knew  that  voice.  He  would  know  it  anywhere  ,  at  any  time  ,  no  matter  what.  Even  if  Feng  Xin  forgot  himself  and  everything  he  knew  ,  he  was  certain  he  would  still  know  Xie  Lian’s  voice.
“...Your  Highness.  “  His  voice  came  our  weak  and  hoarse  -  a  far  cry  from  its  usual  strong  tone.  How  long  had  it  been  ?  Hours  ?  Days  ?  Feng  Xin  made  an  effort  to  sit  up  -  only  to  squeeze  his  eyes  shut  and  stop  moving  without  prompting.  His  eyes  squeeze  shut  ,  swallowing  the  noise  of  pain  before  opening  his  eyes  again  to  stare  at  Xie  Lian.  He  could  still  see  the  blood  dried  to  his  skin  and  robes  ,  so  much  -  there  definitely  wouldn’t  be  salvaging  those.
He  managed  a  feeble  but  genuine  smile.  “  I’m  not...worried  over  me.  But  I...have  a  hunch...you  know  that.  “  He  murmured  ,  relaxing  under  his  highness’s  touch.  “  Sorry  about...your  robes....I’ll  make  sure  to...buy  you  new  ones...  “  He  got  out  in  labored  breaths  ,  turning  his  head  on  the  pillow  a  bit.  Despite  the  situation  ,  despite  the  pain  ,  he  offered  a  slight  smile  to  his  Crown  Prince.  “  Thank  you  for...being  here...  “  Talking  was  exhausting  ,  but  it  was  something  he  needed  to  say.  Xie  Lian  didn’t  have  to  wait  or  stay  beside  him.  But  it  looked  like  Xie  Lian  had  been  there  beside  him  for  a  while  and  it  tugged  at  his  heart.

I’m so unbelievably weak against characters who make terrible choices because they’re hurting and upset. I love the subtler resentful decisions that quietly build up ill will, and I love the big dramatic choices that end with everyone going down in flames. But more than anything, I love love love hurting myself with the emotional flavor of a character struggling with the tension of simultaneously realizing that people hate/mistrust them (or how much people hate/mistrust them, or which people hate/mistrust them), while also realizing that those people just have... no idea where they’re coming from.
I was thinking about this first because of Mu Qing, who is honestly a very low-key version of this scenario (and it’s also quieter since he’s not a lead character and rarely takes the spotlight himself). But the first big tgcf flashback honestly made my heart ache, seeing him trying to walk a line between maintaining his own independence/pride and not belonging to someone he wants to be peers with, but when he tries to be tactful, people decide he’s being shady.  He was picking cherries, to bring a treat to his poor mother (and the poor children around his home), but then got accused of stealing, and then didn’t want to say that it was because his only remaining parent was living in poverty. And it continues through the present day! He knocks out Feng Xin so he can save him from a burning city, because Feng Xin refuses to leave, and people are like ‘>:OOO MU QING ATTACKED FENG XIN??’ In some ways, this character hurts me more than the others, because he rarely does anything wrong, he has a bad attitude, but his most significant “missteps” tend to be like ‘you could have been a little more kind, tbh.’
But also too, I’ve been working my way through the svsss extras again, and... Shen Jiu. God, Shen Jiu. This character is agonizing, and I love him so much. He makes terrible choices! He does terrible things! He tries to set up an actual literal child to die horribly, because he resents that this child had a parent who loved him, and that he found his way to Cang Qiong young enough to reach his full potential! It’s absolutely unforgivable! But nobody except Yue Qingyuan has any clue how much Shen Jiu has been through and how to possibly help him grow or heal or how to support him into better decision making. And Shen Jiu is so hurt by the way Yue Qingyuan left him that he refuses to let Yue Qingyuan help him now. Like! This child was a slave, begging for food on the streets, then was sold to a rich boy who abused him in sexually-flavored ways and planned to marry him to his sister so he could keep him forever, and then his “rescuer” was a scumbag adult who taught him to steal and murder.
And while Shen Jiu was suffering, he thinks Yue Qingyuan, who came from the same beginning and who promised to come back for him, was living in careless pampered luxury in a prestigious cultivation sect. Shen Jiu’s own self-evaluations are incredibly harsh, from the moment he’s reunited with Yue Qingyuan. He calls himself terrible, he calls himself a thing, and once it’s clear that he’s going to pay the price for his bad decisions, he tries hard to shove away the one person who cares about him and find some way to protect him. Yue Qingyuan never stopped loving him and defending him, but literally nobody else in the world has any sympathy for him whatsoever. How am I not supposed to be heartbroken? Shang Qinghua sighs over how his readers used to hate on Shen Qingqiu for having no motivations, which, sure, that’s understandable from what’s on the “Proud Immortal Demon Way” pages, but seeing the trauma driving his choices in svsss and seeing his own self-awareness and self-loathing and knowing that one (1) person in-universe has any inkling of his internal world (and that person died trying to help him), I’m! In pain!!!
Plus, in svsss proper, I saw a post in passing once that was something like... ‘readers are hard on luo binghe, because he’s the only mxtx protagonist where we see the worst decisions of his life and aren’t in his head to understand why he’s making those decisions.’ Which I still find fascinating, and think about often. It makes sense to me. And as far as my terrible-decision-making children go, he’s very interesting to me because he doesn’t really deal with the widespread distaste/mistrust that mu qing and shen jiu experience, it’s very much targeted on one person. I live for the parts of svsss where all Luo Binghe has to do is breathe, and Shen Qingqiu flinches and bolts. And Luo Binghe is not acting in kind or well-considered ways, a lot of the time! But he was seventeen, and his beloved teacher had told him that ‘humans can be good or evil, demons can be good or evil,’ but the moment Luo Binghe turned out to be half demon, even though he’d just been fighting desperately trying to protect Shen Qingqiu, that teacher he trusted more than anything immediately turned on him, stabbed him in the chest, and threw him into hell.
That’s agonizing!!!! Even without the aftermath, that’s agonizing to read! And when Luo Binghe comes back, years later, he’s upset, he’s hurt, he’s lonely, he’s still stinging from that betrayal, of course he’s not making good decisions. I follow good blogs, because I haven’t seen any terrible Luo Binghe takes on my dash, but I’m kind of :c that these takes apparently exist. Again, it’s not that I think he makes good decisions, but I can see why he makes bad decisions, and I can see other characters missing that context, and I am rolling in terrible, glorious pain. Luo Binghe shows up secretly in Huan Hua Palace and starts taking it over and generally acts shady as heck? Well, Shizun wouldn’t let him beg for forgiveness when he was a disciple, and he’s afraid to face Shen Qingqiu until he can meet him on a semi-equal footing. Luo Binghe gets angry and spiteful when Shen Qingqiu asks if he’s responsible for the sowers? Yes he does! He’d always, always tried to do right by Shen Qingqiu, and trusted Shen Qingqiu when he said demons could be decent people, but the moment he turned out to be half-demon, Shen Qingqiu immediately started expecting the worst from him at every turn. It hurts! I don’t blame him for acting on that hurt! And I am so endlessly compelled by the way that Shen Qingqiu completely fails to recognize the context for where Binghe is coming from.
And like... I cannot leave out Xue Yang and Jin Guangyao. Xue Yang is fascinating in his own way, because the steps are... a lot more explicit and clear-cut than some of these other characters. Shen Jiu’s downward spiral is very internal and he curls up tight to hide his weak spots even with the person who values him most in the whole world, but Xue Yang very plainly tries to lay out his reasoning for his most important person. His whole world is crumbling by the time things reach that point, and it was probably beyond salvaging, but god! He tries so hard to explain the position the world placed him in, from childhood onward, helpless and vulnerable, and that nobody was going to defend him except himself.
But when Xiao Xingchen doesn’t understand what he’s trying to communicate, when he realizes that the person he values most isn’t willing to hear what he’s trying to say, he starts lashing out again and trying to hurt. It’s the same lesson he learned when he was young, in some ways. ‘If I’m stupid enough to trust you, you’re going to use that to hurt me.’ And then the logical next step, ‘If you’re going to hurt me, all I can do is try to hurt you worse.’ You can see the trauma playing out right there on the page, and it’s agonizing. I can understand some people not enjoying reading things that make them hurt that way, but I have trouble Getting it when people don’t at least find that kind of dynamic compelling as hell. I’ll sometimes avoid media that I know is going to make me sad, but if I’m in the mood to Experience Sadness, I know a dynamic like this is going to grab me by the heart and shake me like a ragdoll.
And... Jin Guangyao. He was on my mind too, partly because I’ve seen a few takes on his motivations lately that honestly kind of baffle me? Like, to each their own, especially since mdzs never takes us inside his head. But I see posts that like... he was bullying Nie Mingjue, or what if Lan Xichen could Tell he was never genuine and mistrusted him on some level, and how to put this. It’s not that I agree with the choices he made, though I really don’t want to play fandom purity police in any way, shape, or form (murder is good, actually), but I understand the choices he made enough that those sort of interpretations that skew towards the cruelty-for-the-sake-of-cruelty territory honestly kind of upset me.
There’s some interesting comparisons to be made with Mu Qing, in some ways. They both grew up poor, without a father, in “shameful” single-parent situations (a sex worker mother vs. a father being executed for being a criminal). They were poor boys with ambition, but no matter how they tried to carry themselves with dignity, those poor beginnings were rubbed in their faces, years after the fact. I think it does make a real difference that Mu Qing’s shame is mostly based in his own history (sweeping floors) while Jin Guangyao’s is more external (son of a whore), and that Jin Guangyao’s also insulted a parent who he loved dearly, and that Mu Qing was seeking the respect outside of famiial structures while Jin Guangyao was desperate to be accepted by his father.
There’s so much of Jin Guangyao’s early life that’s like ‘I’m Just Trying To Live My Life, My Dude,’ and it hurts me to watch. He really didn’t have goals that were all that excessive! If his goals were excessive in some way, it’s only by virtue of how highly ranked his father was, which isn’t his fault. His goal: ‘I want my father to accept me into the family.’ What the world saw: “oh my god, this son of a whore SERIOUSLY wants to be brought into this noble family, lmaooooo.’ There are characters who are more compassionate than that, and a lot of that reaction is down to the nature of the setting, but LORD, man! It’s honestly a pretty restrained goal for a kid to have! Especially when his father totally promised to come back for him someday, and he waited patiently for years before setting out on his own.
And even once he gets kicked down the steps of Koi Tower and dials back his ambitions, he gets so little space to breathe. He’s learning cultivation late, he takes a position as a nobody in a different cultivation sect, he’s just trying to live. But no matter how he rolls with the punches, no matter how he smiles and bears it, he’s being constantly, constantly prodded in that old, painful bruise. I’ve been finally working my way through The Untamed, and it was painful to watch, in Gusu, when he’s trying to present the Nie Sect’s gift to Lan QIren, and people just start focking gossiping about him, right there, perfectly audibly. And when we see him back in Qinghe, he’s perfectly polite and deferential, and that one disciple is still like ‘fuck you, ur mom was a whore.’
He makes bad decisions, but even when he makes good decisions, he can’t win. I don’t get anything from him at all that suggests he had Hugely Lofty Ambitions from a young age, he just wanted some kind of decent life, but almost nobody would cut him a break. Nie Mingjue did cut him a break, and Lan Xichen was gentle and kind to him, and that made such an impact on him. But I also think it made it that much worse, when he made later questionable decisions, and Nie Mingjue refused to let him explain himself. Nie Mingjue’s rigidity breaks my heart in lots of ways, but especially when it comes to Jin Guangyao. I don’t want to make this all about personal attachment, but it’s kind of inescapable in this situation. Nie Mingjue sends him a loud, violent message that if he’s not perfectly morally upright, he’s Done. But by now, Jin Guangyao has years of history of people being cruel to him based on a history he never was able to control. Nie Mingjue protected him, but hes made it clear that protection was... conditional. There could be arguments about how conditional, and what the non-murdery limits would have been, but the murder has been done, and it was already clear that Nie Mingjue never had the power to protect him from everything.
I can’t read Jin Guangyao’s later actions without also reading that fear and insecurity into his decisions. He even tries to say it outright, that he’s afraid of everyone and everything, and Nie Mingjue misses the point. Jin Guangyao hurts me a lottle, because he suffers both in terms of the general public’s judgment of him, but also in the judgment of someone he cared deeply about. I can see the reasoning and trauma, but so many other people in the story can’t. Jin Guangyao gets pushed to the edge by how his father holds him at arm’s length from the family, the atrocities he tells Jin Guangyao to commit on his behalf (and then maybe I’ll treat you like my actual son, maybe), but when he tries to express that, Nie Mingjue is like ‘can’t you just endure more, though??’ He builds a temple with a statue with the face of his dead beloved mother, and the public is like ‘omg, he made that statue with his OWN FACE, can you believe it??’
In some ways, the way Lan Xichen determinedly loves and trusts him makes it all hurt even worse. I absolutely believe Jin Guangyao when he says that he never once wanted to act against Lan Xichen. So many of the terrible decisions Jin Guangyao makes tie so directly to him seeking either safety or security. But he works hard in social gatherings to keep the peace and people think he’s two-faced. He endures years of mistreatment before hitting back and people judge him for hitting back at all and say that well, what else could we have respected from someone with that background. Nie Mingjue threatens to kill him multiple times, and he was a very straightforward, honest man, of course Jin Guangyao was frightened of him and decided it was safer to see him dead. I live for the pain of seeing a character I love make decisions I strongly disagree with, understanding why they’re making those decisions, and seeing other characters not understand, and simply hate them for the decisions.
This isn’t exactly new, this is why I’ll never be able to shake my love for Starscream, even if his quality of motivation... varies by continuity. And Pharma and Prowl are two of my favorite characters in all of idw1 for exactly this reason. I’ve got  at least three fics brushing up against Pharma’s resentment over ‘yes, i got ordered to run a hospital on a garbage planet I was sharing the most violent, sadistic decepticons in existence, I SURE WONDER WHY I WAS DRIVEN TO THIS DESPERATE POINT, BUT THE LOVE OF MY LIFE THINKS I’M JUST A TERRIBLE PERSON, SO I GUESS THAT’S THAT.’
And in the murderbot books, I genuinely get reduced to tears when murderbot has to deal with people compassionately interpreting its behavior instead of giving it no credit, the way its used to. I find the raksura books intensely, intensely satisfying in how Moon struggles to fit into a highly social, close-knit society after growing up so traumatized and alone, and how his colony gradually adapts to him and gets used to his quirks, instead of driving him out, the way he’s experienced so many times. No real conclusion here, I was just spacing out during a work training call, and got overtaken by how much I love characters who experience this particular flavor of emotional isolation.

on the study of eroticism
Synopsis: Xie Lian discovers that there are some parts of his body that invites certain sensations and he can’t quite figure out what to do with it. His husband helps. Rated M | 2500w | post-canon, domestic fluff, a little spicy [ Read on AO3 ]
A sudden heat comes from nowhere, slowly bubbling from the bottom of his stomach. The spot where Hua Cheng kissed is sending tingles down his spine. It’s…a weird feeling.
Then a mischievous tongue swipes at the same spot and—his body jerks.
“Ah—!”
Xie Lian quickly covers his mouth. Was that…him? Did that keen, airy sound, full of want and something else come out of his lips? He’s never heard himself like this before. So foreign to his own ears. So strange.
“I didn’t know Your Highness has so many…receptive spots.”
---
The first time it happens, Xie Lian is utterly mortified.
They’re lazing away the afternoon, sitting on a hill near Puqi Shrine. Xie Lian’s snug against Hua Cheng and entirely engrossed in a book he found in an old book store.
Hua Cheng is quiet the entire time. Xie Lian learns that he’s okay being the silent accompaniment as long as he gets to watch Xie Lian to his heart’s content. It’s also out of respect, ‘this one doesn’t wish to break gege’s concentration when he’s reading.’
The summer breeze brings a refreshing chill to the otherwise humid weather. Xie Lian swipes his hair to the side, getting some air to his neck. He should look into lighter clothing, now that the—
Xie Lian’s thoughts cut off.
He feels Hua Cheng’s lips against the back of his neck. Warm breaths tickle his skin that make goosebumps rise deliciously down his arms. Xie Lian’s about to make an off-hand comment when those same lips open and place a daring kiss.
So strange.
So…lewd.
Hua Cheng does it again and this time Xie Lian grabs the legs on either side of him in a panic. His shoulders shrink inwards, a weak attempt to both escape and invite for more (more more). Xie Lian’s whole body buzzes with this sudden onslaught of pleasure and he’s not sure how to process it.
Something pulls his legs together and he realizes it’s himself. Squeezing tightly to hide the embarrassment.
He’s hard. Full on aroused by just a kiss on his neck.
What is this?!
Xie Lian peers back to see Hua Cheng, his gaze loving as always in his carefree and youthful appearance.
“Yes gege?” His husband asks as if he has no idea just how much Xie Lian is affected by him. “Did I do something wrong?”
A voice tells Xie Lian that Hua Cheng knows exactly what, but the unassuming smile on Hua Cheng’s face pushes any suspicion away.
“N-no. It’s nothing.”
The rest of their afternoon go undisturbed. Hua Cheng doesn’t make any more advances and lets Xie Lian to his reading. At least he tries to.
The intensity from Hua Cheng’s stare weighs heavy on his back.
---
It festers in his mind for the next passing days.
What had happened seems so trivial yet profoundly curious. Xie Lian has experienced pleasures before (oh has he, with Hua Cheng’s relentlessness and skill in bed). But never has he imagined that a single touch to that specific spot can incite such a reaction.
From his voice. The sharp pitch, with just a touch of breathlessness, almost choking from the sudden amount of pure want. He doesn’t think himself capable of producing such a sound. Ought to be dying from embarrassment.
Not even the heat from the kitchen fire can match the fever running through his head. He should concentrate on the task at hand. Concentrate!
He’s making radish soup tonight, specifically requested by his husband. Despite having an army of servants at their disposal, Xie Lian prefers to do the cooking. Especially for dinner. It reminds him of slow days at Puqi Shrine, when Hua Cheng was San Lang who made sure to keep his distance and didn’t dare to step over the line. And now?
Now he sneaks to Xie Lian’s side with every chance he gets, pretending to move with innocent intent when they both know Hua Cheng is itching to cop a feel. Xie Lian lets him. There is comfort in close proximity.
Xie Lian pauses at cutting the radishes and touches the back of his neck.
Huh. Nothing.
Curious indeed.
“And then?” Hua Cheng breaks him out of his reverie.
“Hmm?”
“Gege was telling me how those idiots got into a brawl again.”
Xie Lian straightens himself up and says, “ah yes. It was the usual misunderstanding between them. Mu Qing said something about Jian Lan and Feng Xin took it the wrong way. You know how he can be.”
“Foolishly so.”
Xie Lian sends him a not-so-stern look that Hua Cheng shrugs at. Is he wrong? He supposes not. Hua Cheng is rarely wrong in many things. He boasts when time calls for it, rightfully so. It’s one of his traits that Xie Lian finds so charming.
Xie Lian finishes up chopping up the green onions before dumping them into the pot. The aroma smells right this time. No sourness hidden in the air. Last time, Hua Cheng had suggested to maybe leave the vinegar out. Good call on that.
“San Lang, come have a taste.”
Hua Cheng obediently saunters over, stopping behind Xie Lian. He towers over him, both hands resting Xie Lian’s waist and the latter naturally leans back. Xie Lian scoops up a small amount of soup and blows at it.
“Careful, it’s hot.”
Bending forward, Hua Cheng joins in and blows at the steaming spoon of soup. He shifts slightly and suddenly Xie Lian feels a soft stream of air tickling his ear.
A gasp escapes his lips before he could stop. His hand jerks, spilling soup over the pot.
There it is again. That tingling. The heat, travelling from the tip of his ear to the pool of his stomach and down to the place where he’s really trying not to think of right now. That blow of air to his ear had awaken something within his body, brought back memories of feverish nights and mind-blowing pleasure.
Xie Lian quietly swallows and wills his body to settle. It’s unseemly, getting this a strong of a reaction from such a meaningless act. It’s the same as when Hua Cheng had kissed the back of his neck. His body freezes then heats up in want, in need, in desire and—and what is it? There must be something wrong.
Hua Cheng, oblivious to all the turmoil battling inside Xie Lian, continues to blow at the soup. Or whatever’s left of it. Xie Lian should scoop another batch up. That’s right. Hua Cheng needs a taste. Why is his hand shaking?
Another steady stream of cool breath caresses his ear from behind and—
“San Lang!”
His cry comes out more as a desperate whimper, indecently so. Xie Lian’s other hand grips the edge of the counter so tightly that he can see veins lining out. He presses forward, willing his arousal away.
“It’s hot right? This one’s only taking measures to cool it down a bit,” says Hua Cheng coyly. “Can’t risk our tongues burning.”
Something else is already burning in Xie Lian and it’s definitely not his tongue.
Hua Cheng takes the arm holding the spoon and brings it towards to them. He takes a quick sip of the soup, waits, then gives Xie Lian an approving smile. Eyes bright and full of delight and…playful?
“Gege makes the best soup! It warms me up all nice inside.”
Xie Lian’s eyebrows twitch.
He watches Hua Cheng proceed to set the table in an easy-going manner. He wears a small grin that Xie Lian usually overlooks as contentment but now it seems to be carrying something more. Satisfaction. Amusement. Pride.
Is Hua Cheng catching on?
---
The ghost king is up to something. By now Xie Lian is sure of it.
Hua Cheng is an affectionate being, giving gentle brushes of their hands here and a soft nuzzle there. His husband is surprisingly rather tactile and he is all for it.
But lately, there has been a lot more sneak attacks. Ones that ruffle Xie Lian’s feathers, tickle his nerves, invoke those same strange and embarrassing sounds that Xie Lian is failing miserably at preventing. Some touches result in no reaction, just a weird look from Xie Lian. Others…oh how they make him shiver with unforeseen bliss.
It is almost as if Hua Cheng is looking for treasure chests hidden all over the map that is his body and the only way to uncover them is to blindly cop a feel or blow a kiss.
Today is no exception.
They’re having a stroll down the streets of Ghost City. Its civilians are delighted to see Hua Chengzhu out in public. A rare sighting. Of course, it is no surprise that beside their lord is his esteemed companion, the one with the bamboo hat and easygoing smile.
Xie Lian stops at a stall on the side, something catching his eyes. A display of old archives all crusty and tattered and really shouldn’t be up for sale. But Xie Lian is Xie Lian and knowledge is limitless so he curiously glances over the titles.
Chronicles of the Flesh-Eating Toad
A Thousand Nights in a Thousand Brothels
Great Conquests of Black Water Sinking Ships
“Anything catching our esteemed guest fancy?” The stall-owner asks. She’s a rather old woman, wrinkles marked deep into her leathery skin. One eye atrociously scarred and her attempt at a smile offers the opposite effect of warm and welcome.
Xie Lian hums in earnest, thinking seriously before answering. They quickly enter a conversation on forgotten literature and unwritten history. Hua Cheng, naturally, is already by Xie Lian’s side, a hand on his back.
That same hand, despite behaving at first, spread itself across the lower of his back, pressing just so. Xie Lian stops in his words then hitches a startled breath when he feels Hua Cheng’s hand slither upwards. It’s agonizingly slow, with fingers kneading ever so slightly against the bumps of his spine, inducing little humming shockwaves riding throughout his entire body.
The area below his stomach throbs, warming again to the same sensation. This time, Xie Lian keeps his voice in check and lets out only a choked breath.
“Gege?”
His ear tingles.
“Something on your mind?” Hua Cheng asks, leaning close. “Do you not feel well?”
His back. He’s thinking of his lower back and how it hums and makes him twist inside. He’s thinking of a kiss planted behind his neck and a sensual blow of breath to his ear tips. He thinks of cool skin and sweat, of long nights and vivid images, of a bed adorned in red and of highs he’s never ascended to before until Hua Cheng Hua Cheng San Lang—
Xie Lian staggers a little, alarming the stall-owner. She doesn’t want to offend Hua Chengzhu’s cherished person. But it is not her at all. It is the thumb now caressing lightly over the inside of his wrist and aaah, that’s another spot so sensitive to Hua Cheng’s touch. And he recognizes that this has all been done on purpose.
A whimper escapes his throat. Oh, how red his face must be.
“Gege doesn’t look too good. You’re warming up. Perhaps we should return for the night.” His voice is filled with worry but Xie Lian now knows the little game Hua Cheng is playing. He peers over and sure enough, that corner of Hua Cheng’s lips is gleefully curved.
“I didn’t know Your Highness has so many…receptive spots.”
---
His full assault comes when Xie Lian is at his weakest.
When the martial god is entangled in sheets, splayed across the bed in a state of helplessness. He writhes at every shock sent from below where ghost meets god, cries on each impact. Hua Cheng dominates from behind him, chest to back, and he takes full control of every nerve in Xie Lian’s body.
A hot tongue laps at the back of his neck and another wave of heat shoots straight to his arousal. This time, Xie Lian learns not to hold back and he moans keenly into the pillow.  When the same tongue moves to behind his ear, his voice shifts into an obscene-sounding whine.
“San Lang…San Lang—ah!”
He feels the incoming wave of pleasure, a tense ball forming inside just waiting to burst and he can’t wait. Oh the anticipation, oh the blissful release Xie Lian’s clumsily chasing right now. That Hua Cheng’s demanding.
“Gege is especially sensitive tonight,” Hua Cheng remarks, voice low and deceivingly calm. “He seems to be more vocal than usual.”
Xie Lian grinds desperately into the bed as Hua Cheng grinds into him. He always manages to hit that sweet spot that makes Xie Lian sing.
And he does. He sings brokenly into the night when Xie Lian finally comes wrecked and sweet. His whole body quivers, intoxicated in sheer delight.
But Hua Cheng doesn’t stop there. He mercifully gives Xie Lian a short moment before resuming his thrusts. The hand that had held Xie Lian’s moves to the base of his neck and slides sensually down his spine. Hot lips press against Xie Lian’s neck and begin to suckle at the skin.
It’s all too overwhelming. Xie Lian curves his back deliciously so, prying away from Hua Cheng’s touch yet yearning for more more more.
“S-San Lang..too much…”
His plead is in vain. Hua Cheng’s other hand wraps itself around Xie Lian’s wrist and the thumb languidly rubs over the erogenous area.
“What’s that, gege? Is this spot too much? This one doesn’t think so,” Hua Cheng murmurs as he blows softly at Xie Lian’s ear again. “Who knew gege had so many hidden treasures?”
Jolts of bliss come at every direction. His lower back, his neck, his ear, his wrist. Xie Lian can feel himself hard again and he can’t—he can’t again.
“San Lang, San Lang!”
Xie Lian abruptly knocks Hua Cheng off and flip them over, pinning his husband down with his legs and hands. His chest burns from heavy breathing and he takes a moment to gain composure. Hua Cheng wears an arrogant smirk.
He wants to wipe it right off.
“I like it when gege gets a little rough.”
Xie Lian huffs. “San Lang is being a bully.”
Hua Cheng raises a doubtful eyebrow. “This one merely wants to make His Highness feel good.”
Not fair, not fair at all. Hua Cheng lies there all comfortably, basking gloriously in the fact that he’s made Xie Lian this euphoric and happy. Knowing he’s made him feel so loved and adored and deserving.
Leaning down, Xie Lian presses a long kiss to Hua Cheng’s lips before moving down his jawline. Soft, lingering pecks trail along his husband’s neck. He stops at the Adam’s apple and gives a lick before continue. Hua Cheng takes one deep breathe—good, he’s relaxed.
Xie Lian arrives at his collarbone, gives a good stare, then gently bites on the edge.
Hua Cheng jolts beneath him, his abdominal clenching on instinct. Xie Lian hears a choked grunt, cut midway as if it was stopped desperately. He looks up to see Hua Cheng scrunching his eyebrows in slight confusion. Arousal swims in his eyes.
Xie Lian grins.
“Found yours.”

If you are not worthy of your place, you will have more than a house of good, and you will have more to celebrate.
The saying goes: If you don't deserve a place, you will have a lot of things.
One must have noble character to afford money, power, and reputation for these newspapers. Otherwise, they will surely be subjected to disaster.
[Zhou Yi] There is a cloud: ′′ Deity is thin, wisdom is small and big, strength is small and heavy, little is less than a thread."
In ′′ Chogen's ′′ it also says: ′′ The rich and reputation, from moral, such as the flowers in the mountains, is the one who is the one who is the one who is the one who is the one , like a bottle of flower, its root is not planted, it can stand and wait."
If morality is not worthy, it is difficult to be rich and rich for long, after all, man's virtue determines the fate of man.
To enjoy the newspaper, you must first fix your own morality. Xuude is the best way to change his life.
zhǎng jiǔ zhǎng jiǔ zhǎng jiǔ zhǎng jiǔ zhǎng jiǔ zhǎng jiǔ zhǎng jiǔ zhǎng jiǔ zhǎng jiǔ zhǎng jiǔ
Fan Zhong-yang once said: The congenital worry and worry, the day after tomorrow will be happy!
The supreme realm of morality is to restore the body, the family, rule the country, and benefit the world. Only those who are mindful of the world will have a rich and honorable lasting.
Fan Zhong-yan during the Northern Dynasty period, was a famous literary, but he spent his whole life walking for the people
When he was an official in Taizhou, he saw the local sea turtles in disparage for years, often the sea water inversion accidents occurred, leaving the people displaced and
Fan Zhong-yan Xinsheng was intolerant, so the emperor built a wing to protect the people's peace. After playing, Fan Zhong-dang himself took the battle, leading the local people, and repaired the whale day and night.
However, halfway through the construction, the tsunami was encountered, and hundreds of people were killed and injured. Then, let the Imperial Court opponents, seized the handle, and one after another said that this was a warning from the sea gods, that they could no longer repair the moss.
Regarding the issue of ′′ fixing and not repairing there is a heated discussion within the Imperial Court, but the common people can't afford to wait. Fan Zhong-Yan, who is anxious, stood on the work site and waited, watching the sea water slowly fails to A slight step back.
In order to give back to the people a peaceful home, he insisted on forgetting his life and finally waited for the decision to fix it. After the tsunami was completed, there was no flooding again. Later, the local people were grateful for Fan Zhong-yan, and even more, they named the sea turtle ′′ Fan Gong-y
For this reason, Fan Zhong-Zhong-Fan received a gift, and bought a house in Suzhou, and asked Mr. Feng Shui to take a look at it. It turned out to be a feng shui treasure land. Fan Zhong-Zhong listened to it, and didn't Good luck to the people of the Lebanese people.
This moment, Fan Zhong-shuan, who was the heart of the people, was the family of the family, and was the official's bureau, all donated to the Fan family. When he died, he did not even have a decent coffin.
Since then, it has left the style of ′′ faithfulness to the world ′′ and became the Fan family training, so that the children and grandchildren, Sun Jianji, and the family can carry the year of the year!
It was Fan Zhong-yang who was in the world's spirit, passed on to the world, and let me wait for the future generations to study, work, and be human.
In ′′ Zhou Yi :"it says, ′′ The house of the good will have more celebration".
Those who upgrade their own morals, will receive the honor and wealth of riches, like wild flowers in the mountains, and the mountains are flourishing and flourishing. Not only do they have their own newspapers, they will also have descendants and descendants of Yu Qing
shī qù shī qù shī qù shī qù shī qù shī qù shī qù shī qù shī qù shī qù
The idiom, ′′ Cheng-Ya, what can we lose is a good interpretation of Han Xin's life.
As we all know, Han Xin, is a famous founding meritor in the West Han, with unique leadership skills, never defeated in his life. It can be said that without Han Xin, there would be no Dahan Dynasty.
He was originally a man under Xiang Yu, and spent two years around Xiang Yu, and was only a guard. Because he could not be used again, he turned to Liu Bang. He was seen by the people who were looking at him and highly recommended to Liu Bang, and since then he was in war. The sandfield, by the good of the king, ascends to heaven.
Even Liu Bang sighs, ′′ Even a million army will win, and the attack will be taken, and it is not as good as Han Xin!"
After Han Xin assumed the office of the great general, the first gun was ′′ Ming Xiu's martial path, the darkest of the way ". Han Xin, who won the win. After that, it was even more unpackable. Within a few short years, Liu Bang took down half a mountain.
Everything came too smoothly, Han Xin became the capable general of Liu Bang's men, no one disobedient, he began to be proud and self-righteous.
Just when the Qi country was destroyed, Han Xin was greedy for merit, and he still took over the Qi Guo, which had already fallen, by surprise, to coerce Liu Bang and seal himself as king Qi. There was no way Liu Bang could only do the same.
At this time, Han Xin is like the sky. Even more, while Liu Bang and Xiang Yu were in the middle of the war, when he needed the support of Han Xin, he only kept his mouth up, and clearly asked Liu Bang for a seal.
Han Xin, who looks like the future, has done such injustice, again and again, and again, and again, challenge authority. Liu Bang has already hated him in his heart, but he also taboos his ability, and finally, he still doesn't know what to do. Kill Han Xin.
The Han Xin of the Lord of Gao-Zheng, can be said to have all the wealth of reputation status. But as a subject, they do not know how to converge themselves, avoid interests, and eventually fall into a different and three communities.
[Left Chuan] There is a saying, ′′ Many injustice will be taken from themselves, and a child will be treated ".
No matter how big you are, if you don't have a fear of morality, you will eventually go to destruction, it is only a matter of time.
In ancient times, no one wants to take a good reputation, build a business, and enjoy a wealthy reputation, but this kind of reputation is not unchanged and never broken in those who have no virtue.
Those who have been killed by a few, or those who are trying to find a position of power, will eventually become nothing.
And those who are truly virtuous do not care about their personal success or failure, honor and disgrace, but are in a hurry for the people to think about what the people think and do the truth for the people, and in the end they will gain a rich reputation.
miè wáng miè wáng miè wáng miè wáng miè wáng miè wáng miè wáng miè wáng miè wáng miè wáng
Mencius :"Dodosuke, help".
If you don't get the support of the people, even if you stand tall and have more, you will eventually lose it.
In the end of the East Han year, Minister Dong Zhuo, Kwon-yan, held the power of the world, it can be said that the scenery was infinite, and he was eventually killed
He had no ancestors to protect, noble people to help each other. He was completely dependent on his personal efforts, and he was decisive and decisive all the way, and he established the Xilang army and became
However, at that time, the Imperial Court, the Horse Palace, the foreign relatives, the dictatorship, and the party of the palace, led the military to Beijing in order to save the Holy Driving, and after resolving the rebel party, Dong Zhuo became a vassal of power under one person and above
Once man has supreme power, he no longer wants to be subjected to man.
Therefore, Dong Zhuo forced the little Emperor Liu to argue the lower position, re-enacted Liu Association to offer emperor to Han, and truly implemented the heavens to make the priests, plus the army in his hands, and Dong Zhuo was even more fearless and did whatever he wanted, and he was willing to kill indiscriminately. Hands to cover the heavens.
Dong Zhuo, who is unshakable, not only does he allow his own men to rob people and women, but if any opponents appear, they are all considered to be disorganized and tortured, causing the people to complain and be hard to say.
In the end, the people were forced to endure it, and the-way priests fought against Dong Zhuo, and died at the hands of his son, Pub. When the news of Dong Zhuo's death came out, the people of the whole country celebrated with joy, it was seen that the people were just angry with Dong Zhuo.
It's just called, ′′ The people who get the heart of the world."
Dong Zhuo, who has lost the heart of the people, was pointed out by Wanfu His life was an infinite scenery, but this kind of reputation, which was derived from violence, was always a deed of morality.
Many times, how far a man can go is not in how much he has achieved, nor in how strong his ability is, but in how thick he is.
In life, your virtue, also determines your destiny, you can be without talent, but not deed. No man will seek disaster, and what you gain by power will be lost in the end by virtue.
To be born, to be expensive is to have virtue, only to be upright and good to people, can do virtue in the world.
Write at the end
It is said in the Book of Grain: ′′ The shallow waters do not swim, the great fish do not swim, and the shallow of the trees do not flash, and the thin of the earth does not produce great
Meaning, if the water is not deep, how can it attract big fish? If the trees are not lush, how can there be great darts to inhabit here? If our earth is not rich, how can there be great yields?
On the contrary, how can we carry things if our moral deeds are not heavy? You must know that giving will be rewarded, contentment will be happy, understanding gratitude life will become more and more smooth.
On the contrary, if virtue is not worthy, for what others have, we often go to envy, to compare, to discuss, to evaluate, and there will be disaster.
Remember, man is doing, heaven is watching, and no one can escape. For whatever cause you sow, you will get fruit, and the house of good will have more to celebrate, and the house of bad will have more.
