Thinking about the peace talk that happens between the Eorzean Alliance and the Empire. Qahs'a specifically. He gets so anxious having to see the Emperor again. Esp after defecting. He considered the man a friend at one point and now he's on the opposing side.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It makes things absolutely worse when he hears Varis' reasons for continuing the war, for continuing what was put forth by the ascians in a bid to try and overtake them? To protect man as they are. Yet its delusion. And Qahs'a just hates the fact that he can empathize with that.
Tumblr media
Hate the fact that he can't look up to this man anymore like he did years before he knew all of these things. When he was still oblivious. He wants to punch the man as much as he wants to try and change his mind. No matter how much it won't work.

I just have so many thoughts

I think Ryne would have a kinda skewed sense of what's normal. Like, she may technically know what's "normal" for most people, but what's normal for her is way different. She's raised by two men who are both Weird, only one of which can even pretend to be normal (and like hell Thancred bothered with that while on the run with Ryne lol)
Ryne thinks that talking circles round pixies is common knowledge from her many stays in Il Mheg. It is not. She also thinks knowing how to and being able to stomach skinning and gutting animals for food is normal. It's certainly more common, but unless you're a hunter it absolutely does not come as easily. Being able to walk and run around quietly is something she technically knows is unusual, but since her company has mainly consisted of a professional spy and a man who barely leaves home she tends to forget that most people can't do that.
I can't come up with anymore atm but. Ryne should get to be just a little weird(er) I think

Okay. Here's an actual hot take, FFXIV community.
It is so incredibly hard to take some in the FFXIV community seriously, constantly defending ARR tooth and claw and slamming new players for not trying it. The problem isn't whether or not you think it's good. It's that new players find it boring and head out.
And, again, an MMORPG without new players isn't great. We can't sustain it forever, new players and new perspectives are good. You can yell "WELL THEY SHOULD JUST SUCK IT UP AND GIVE IT A CHANCE" all you want, but you're not -going to-.
The people with interest in the game aren't as obsessed as the clear fanatics defending it tooth and nail, you can't manifest a bored player into just staying. Some will. Most won't.
There's gotta be a solution other than 'well they should suck it up'. Cause they're not.
I skipped ARR to get into the game from the previous one I played, for example, and ended up just fine. I went back and did ARR on an alt. It was okay. Didn't feel super interesting or needed at all, but I did it for story importance.
The end point of ARR with the Garleans, dipping into Ishgard lore, and all of that are the actual interesting pieces that felt important. Everything else, not really.
And so, here's the thing.
We can scream in denial all we want that people aren't giving the game a chance, they should just try to get through ARR, yell at the people who are trying it and say they don't like ARR and feel aghast at the fact that people have the GALL to question WHY the game 'gets good' from Heavensward on...
But that won't get new players to play, and it won't convince people at all that the game is worth continuing.
It's honestly simple logic. And yes, this is a hot take, because I constantly am bombarded with XIV fanatics in flat out denial that ARR is a problem.
You can think it's good all you want, but your dismissal of many new players who want to get into the game and can't because of ARR isn't logical or helpful. At all.

Lol So I decided to do leveling on one of my lowbie alts. I got Sastasha. The Healer was a Sage, and l they loaded in as the first thing they said was "feel free to pull to the wall." No hi no nothing, just suggest that I pull to the wall.
Which, ok, the first wall pull in Sastasha is to the first boss. It's not easy, but I've done it, I'm happy to do it. I figured I'll trust them. I died half way and then the Healer and the DPS start complaining. "distinct lack of aoe." "that was too much at level 16." ...We were all level 18...
but anyways I really felt like that healer threw me under the bus lol. I pushed my buttons, popped my cds. Why tell me to pull to the wall and then say that I pulled too much??

i was infodumping at my sister about Primals (bc i LOVE how they're explored) and she asked if a WoL Primal would be possible with how people revere them. like, a rumor goes around that the WoL is dead and somebody says "i have an idea"
imagine your WoL gets hurt real bad and when they get out of the hospital they have to destroy a shallow, bastardized version of themself. i love it

This was funnier in my head LMAO
Cid: They call me for help when they need my ship to confront Garuda, or they need technology to break into the Crystal Tower, or to fly them to the Sea of Clouds, or to work on ancient Allagan weapons, or supercomputers from worlds unknown--they KNOW I'm capable of creating bloody TIME TRAVEL--but I have to find out from someone else that they're flying to the EDGES OF THE UNIVERSE? I'M THE FUCKING AIRSHIP GUY! WHAT THE HELL IS A LOPORRIT!!
Nero (flatly): Damn, that’s crazy.
Cid: EXACTLY!
Nero (thinking): I thought I fixed this line of code already...

i saw someone made a post saying that shadowbringers was about love and that's so entirely right. like.
when meeting alisaie, her story was about her love for the patients int the makeshift infirmary. how she wanted to help them, how she went out of her way to help them.
when meeting alphinaud, we're shown his love for people. for wanting to help people, for wanting to make sure people are okay and the lengths he is willing to go to for people and humanity. even if he doesn't know anything of them.
when we see thancred, it's his love for minfilia that pushes him to protect ryne despite how much he hates it, and yet it's his love that helps him live through that big battle just to protect ryne because she is ryne now.
when we see urianger, we see his love for magic and the world and his love for the pixies. and the pixies truly adore him. on top of that part, we see feo ul's love for their home and people, so much so that they take on the title of king and help the old king (just a fan theory) recover during pixie quests
y'shtola has so much love for her group. she's taken on the name of her mentor and watches over her people just as matoya watched over her. she vows to make a bridge between shards just to get back to the man who so clearly loves her.
but it goes beyond all this too. its emet selch's grief for his family, whom he loved so much that he is willing to change and kill his entire being if it meant they could see another day. it's raha's love for humanity and for us that pushes him to leave the crystarium and entrust us with his soul to bring home. it's tataru and krile's love for the scions that they take care of us constantly. it's ryne's love for a future, it's gaia's love for wanting to belong, it's zenos' love for a legendary fight with his friend, and most of all
it's our love for our star. for every single person we know and every single person we don't. it's our love for life that pushes us to near death so many times, willingly so, to save a world that will never know our name. to clear ardbert's and the warrior's of darkness names. to make their minfilia proud. to honor hydaelyn even when we cannot hear her.
shadowbringers is about love, and how we can use it to keep going even when we are near consumed by despair and loss.

I have a feeling I'm the only human being on this entire planet who unironically loves the male Au Ra running animation. I hate when people say the devs should change it cause I legitimately don't want them to.
Like, I dunno mang, with every other race I feel like I'm doing a light lil baby jog through the park, but with my au ra I'm RUNNIN!! I'M GOIN PLACES!! I'M ON A MISSION!!! HELP IS ON THA WAY DEAR!!!
Anyways this corner is lonely but idfc I like how my boy runs. rant over.
