Oops.
While learning to control his powers under the guidance of Clockwork, Danny accidentally curses his own bloodline with the Curse of Sentient Food several centuries in the past. Originally, a witch was supposed to curse his family. Oops. Well, the Fentons were always adapting, and technically, either way, he'd end up battling dino nuggets at three am in his underwear, no matter who the curse came from. So he shrugged and continued on.
Unfortunately, this also means that out of nowhere, the timeline shifted, and some of his very distant relatives are now battling their food into submission at every meal because Danny is ultimately way more powerful than some mortal witch from the 1600s. His version of the curse reached literally everyone he could ever be related to for the last few centuries. Even if they were adopted into the family!
So, returning to the present time after training, Danny is a little startled to see some news clips of people's dinners coming to life and beginning revolutions. Wow, John Fentonightingale really got around, didn't he? He felt a little uncomfortable that now all these random people had to deal with their share of Fenton luck, but from some of the interviews, everyone seemed to be handling it pretty well!
Especially his so-distant-they're-on-another-tree cousins, the Kents, who contacted his family directly, asking how best to prepare a zombie turkey. Their son was coming for Thanksgiving with his new wife and some coworkers, and they just refused to make the guests fight for their lives on a holiday!
They invited the Fentons to join them, of course.

my favorite thing about luffy is that he is very literally just a little bit feral. boy hunts and kills animals for food as a pastime and for enrichment and he thinks play is just slightly gentler fighting and biting. no concept of laws. operates only off vibes. territorial. hes only like 1/3 domesticated in the sense that he knows humans have food that can be given to him and he will go to great lengths to acquire it. but beyond that? youre better off trying to explain tax evasion to a tiger. man is living beastmode

These gigantic, demonic toads are thought to be the direct offspring of Gogunta, Demon Lord of Swamps, though the Mobogo themselves rarely care about their potential genealogy unless she bothers to contact them directly and bless them with some divine power. Rather, they act as the emperors of entire tribes of Boggards and other swampfolk, embodying the gluttony of toads and the greed and pride of dragons (this art doesn't show it, but they do have a draconic tail and back spines!) as they spend their days basking in the adoration of their peers... and the constant stream of sacrifices provided for them.
Whether they serve Gogunta's will or see themselves as gods worthy of worship, there's little that a Mobogo enjoys more than having food and gifts lavished upon it by devoted subjects. Unlike with, say, a normal dragon, playing into a Mobogo's greed and gluttony will in no way promise safety or passage through their territory; give them all the possessions you have while promising them even more, and they may still decide that it's better to have food now than later and snarf you down whole and alive. The only creatures Mobogo bother listening to and refrain from eating are their boggard sycophants and others of their kind, and even that loyalty begins to fade if they find their tummies grumbling.
It's not a matter of supernatural metabolism, they just enjoy eating. Which, y'know, relatable. Ironically, food isn't much of a problem for the big toads or the tribes they surround themselves with; able to use Charm Animal at will, the Mobogo are in no danger of starving. If one's hungry, it's simple to snare the mind of a swamp boar or a flock of birds and beckon them closer so their servants can dispatch it. How often this technique is used is entirely dependent on the Mobogo's mood; some only use it to feed themselves and force their servants to hunt and farm for food, while others can act more benevolently and share their charmed spoils with their boggard neighbors... but the default state of these dracotoads is "screw you, I got mine." The at-will charm also means they're kept in the loop on what's going on in their swamps, as they're able to Speak With Animals without needing an action. They're actually quite stupid despite their power (Int 6) so it's not likely that they'll have a spy network of birds and lizards around, but it's useful for keeping their minions behaving when they think every insect and frog they see may be an eye for their master.
Charming animals isn't all they offer! If they really put their minds to it, Mobogo can be true gods of prosperity and harvest; they can use Create Water at-will, Control Water 3/day to undo the damage of flooding (or cause even more of it if offended), Plant Growth 3/day to enrich the ground and assure a bountiful harvest (or entangle and destroy whoever they wish), and Quench 3/day to instantly snuff any fire that proves a danger to their land (or... actually there's no evil way to spin Quench). The unfortunate problem in the 'could be a bringer of prosperity and hope' is everything I've mentioned in the previous three paragraphs.
In addition to their utility magic, Mobogo have a lot more offensive magic than it first appears. Sure, Fog Cloud and Control Water don't look that impressive in a vacuum... But you have to remember that you're not fighting these dracotoads in a vacuum, you're fighting them in a swamp. A thick, primeval swamp loaded with gigantic patches of quicksand, choking vines, waters that go way deeper than you think they do (perfect ambush spot), and trees that block out the light. Say you're in a dingy little boat trying to get through boggard territory, and then suddenly you have to contend with a whirlpool forming in the river you're sailing through! Or a bank of thick fog rolls in out of nowhere, blocking your view of the shoreline!
And then a gigantic toad crashes down on your boat from above, dealing 2d8+13 damage to everyone and everything in its 15ft space. If you're lucky, that's its opener. If you're not, your head is split by the beast's at-will Sound Burst, potentially stunning everyone in a 10ft burst... and then it slams down with its Crush to initiate before attacking everyone open to its Full-Attack. Mobogo attack with two slams for 1d6+9 damage and a bite with their oversized mouth for 2d6+9, which aren't the most impressive, even if their 15ft space and reach let them swath huge chunks of the map in a threat radius. They also have no DR, no resistances, and no defensive abilities that protect them if they get into melee or find themselves at the receiving end of enemy spellwork (aside from some meager Regeneration that's shut off by all the common elemental damage types), forcing them to be pragmatic in their swampy homes. They may not be smart, but they're wise enough to use terrain to their advantage.
Mobogo are unimpeded in natural territory thanks to Swamp Stride, something they should be making full use of among tangled roots and sticky mud. They CAN fly, adding another vector they can attack from, but they're unlikely to get a surprise round unless they attack from underwater or from behind a fog bank. More than likely, though, Mobogo will use their spell-likes to impede the party from afar before dragging them in one by one with its tongue, a massive appendage with a 45ft reach that deals 1d6+9 damage on impact before Grabbing the victim and Pulling them 5ft closer. Like most frog monsters, Mobogo don't become grappled if they have someone seized with their tongue, allowing them to continue making attacks against other targets while their tongue damages and yanks victims in round by round. Any creature dragged into a space adjacent to the dracotoad on its turn risks being swallowed whole, taking 2d6+13 damage a round while freeing up its tongue.
Fun fact: Mobogo can't use their tongue as part of their Full-Attack (they have to choose their slam+bite or their tongue), but they can use it to make Attacks of Opportunity alongside Combat Reflexes to fish for long-ranged grapples multiple times a round to severely impact a party's ability to do anything requiring concentration or uninterrupted movement, and they can use it alongside their Cleave or Awesome Blow feats to swat multiple foes in a round or send one foe flying into deep water, thick plants, or sticky mud. And speaking of sticky mud, Soften Earth and Stone is a spell which is only vaguely useful in most situations, but "being in a swamp" is one of those situations where it becomes downright encounter-defining, potentially entangling the entire party in mud that denies all actions for 1d2 rounds if they fail the Reflex save. Even if they get out, the Mobogo can use Gust of Wind 3/day to blow them right back in, or just use Awesome Blow to do it.
I mentioned a while back that they can initiate with Sound Burst, but there's actually two potential obnoxious noises they can make to begin a fight and/or to support their allies: Every 1d4 rounds they can unleash a Vile Croak, a maddening noise that staggers all non-boggards within 50ft for 1d4 rounds if they fail a DC 19 Will save. Any boggard or Mobogo (including the user) which hears the croaking instead gets +2 to attack rolls and to saves against fear effects for one round, letting the monstrous beasts sit back as their (literal) toadies do all the work, occasionally giving their foes a tongue-lashing from afar.
In a vacuum, Mobogo are much weaker than their CR suggests. In their swamps, they're truly awful foes to try battling against as they budge party members amount with their superior reach and knock or pull them into disadvantageous territory, and they almost always have whole clans of toad people at their beck and call to pick up whatever slack they have. When fighting in swamplands, the terrain itself is as dangerous as the encounters within, and Mobogo are born to take advantage of it!

The seviper

A classic poison type and a sharp jump in challenge for those looking to take their poison type keeping to the next level.
General notes: The seviper is fairly common in grassland areas and savannahs. In Hoenn it is commonly located in the foothills of meteor falls. Before we move on to the rest of the care guide, let me be clear on one thing:
No, your seviper is not stretching out to measure you before it eats you.
This comes up ridiculously often. Though the seviper is both a poison hunter and a constrictor, it is also an ambush predator. Stretching out to measure its prey in the wild would wind up with it either starving to death or being attacked when it's noticed. If you wake up to find your seviper stretched out in bed next to you it's because you're a steady source of warmth. Too many friendly sevipers get rehomed because of this belief.
General care: Seviper need whole prey and can't eat kibble. They lack grinding molars to break it down. As live prey can defend themselves and potentially cause injury, frozen thaw is the best way to feed them.
A meal should be no more than 10% of your sevipers body weight, and no larger than the widest point of its body. Seviper have slow metabolisms, and can go months between meals in the wild. However, there is a difference between surviving and thriving. Here is a rough table for how often you should be feeding it:
Newborn-6 months: every 10-12 days
6-12 months: every 10-12 days
12-18 months: every 12-14 days
18-24 months: every 2-3 weeks
2-2.5 years: every 2-3 weeks
2.5-3 years: every 3-4 weeks
3-4 years: every 4-6 weeks
4+ years: every 4-8 weeks
If you're worried about it starving, don't be. Remember, it has a slow metabolism and doesn't process food as fast as us. It's actually healthier for a seviper not to eat too often. And as a fun bonus, this chart also applies to a fully evolved arbok as well!
There is significant wiggle room in these times, allowing for individual differences, seviper who battle frequently and need a bit more food, gravid seviper, etc. Keep an eye on its condition and don't be afraid to ask for advice. If the spine is easily visible, it isn't eating enough. If the spine is rounded and gently triangular, that's generally a good indicator of health. If you cannot see the spine at all and the seviper is round, it's overweight.
Seviper need warmth, as they can't thermoregulate. Seviper are most active around 32 degrees C, but what is equally as important is shade. A warm basking spot is great, but they also need somewhere dark to cool off. As they grow, a terrarium becomes impractical. Remember, these pokemon can be over 8 feet long and are SOLIDLY built. You may need to consider adapting part of the house to suit its needs.
A sevipers fangs are on a hinge. When hunting or fighting, those sabres are present. When at rest, they tuck into the jaw for safety.
Seviper need a whetstone for their tail. Keeping it sharp is important for their enrichment. Provide a large stone for it to use.
Around two or three times a year, seviper shed their skin. The indicator for this is a dull look, a lack of appetite and their eyes taking on a blue cast. It's tempting to help, but the new skin under the old one is still delicate. Only offer assistance once the skin is actually being removed, and avoid handling until then. If your seviper is approaching you and rubbing its snout against you it's asking for help. Hold the ends of the old skin steady and allow the pokemon to slide out at its own pace. It will likely need a big feed after, and will be perky and cheerful.
Serpent pokemon have a lot of care requirements to consider, but large communities means there's always people to ask for help. Care rating: Orange
Training: Seviper take to training well, and are generally good battlers. A note of warning, though.
This pokemon cannot be allowed in the same room as a zangoose. It doesn't matter how well it's trained. It doesn't matter how well the zangoose is trained. Once they spot each other, instinct kicks in. All of their training and restraint will be gone. They will just try to kill each other. Any good gym will step in if they see you have these pokemon on your team and will stop the battle from happening in the first place. If they do see each other in other locations, pokeball it immediately and leave. It may try and force it's way out of the pokeball. Just keep recalling it. DO NOT PHYSICALLY INTERVENE.
Other than that, the most important part of its training is "the dry bite", where you teach it when to release its venom or not. Having a seviper that knows this makes it safer to battle or even just to have roaming about. The process is pretty long, involving training dummies and food rewards. You're better off looking up guides on line or contacting your nearest poison gym. They can advise you the best and safest ways to teach this. Honestly, if it weren't for their venom, I think you'd see more sevipers around. They learn pretty well. Training rating: Green
Safety: It's a poison type. And a pretty nasty one at that. Though an adult seviper with years of good training under its belt can in theory be safe around small children and even small pokemon, you won't find any responsible trainers who will allow that to happen. Even if it doesn't feel inclined to bite, the blade on its tail is razor sharp and often carries traces of venom. It's strongly advised to cap it when out in public.
They are most dangerous when they're hatchlings, as they lack ANY training about dry bites. Though many pokemon have vastly different personalities, you have no way of telling the difference between an anxious newborn who will nip if you move wrong, and a chill calm little guy who will curl up and nap in your palm. Consider any and all newly hatched seviper "hot" and pick them up only with serpent handler tongs if you ABSOLUTELY must. Once you start getting a feel for their personalities, you can graduate to a thick glove. Any that are too nervous or aggressive should be rehomed. Many cities have facilities that "milk" seviper, ekans and other venomous pokemon to make antivemon, and they have a pretty good life there. Any hatchling too nippy to safely handle should ideally be sent to these farms.
Seviper venom affects the bloods ability to clot. If nipped or scratched, IMMEDIATELY seek medical aid. Safety rating: Red
Overall ranking. Though seviper have cool personalities and are often quite friendly, they need a LOT of safety precautions. Ideally, they should be kept by poison type keepers with the needed experience, and are considered to be of medium difficulty, and a step up from beginner level poison types.

Hello! Thank you for your patience, I've finally had some time to think about this wonderful question!! <3
_ In general, Gonta is especially protective of the bugs that have bad reputations. He loves and respects all of the amazing life forms out there, but there's something about them that he relates to, whether he realizes it or not. These misconceptions and fear of "gross" or "scary-looking" creatures that could be aggressive if provoked, with maybe a bite or sting or a disease inside them... well, he knows what that feels like to be seen on such a surface level. He's extremely wary of letting other people handle his own bugs in this category for this reason, until he's really truly sure that they'll be handled safely.
_ Some days it feels like he has an exoskeleton, because of the way the rain falls off of his shape, how kind words can bounce off and he feels like he has to show the side of him that won't waver. Some days he wishes he had one, because skin is easy to tear and bruise and blush, and oh, how it gives him away. But having bones on the inside is good, too.
_ I've mentioned before that Gonta sings a lullaby to his bugs every night, some tune he made up or learned while he was lost. (Maybe he managed to learn how to make certain bug sounds!!) This is true for both his bugs at work and at home! He might add words if there are people around that he doesn't mind singing in front of.......
_ Not really a hc, but please, if you will, imagine Gonta talking to baby bugs in a baby-talking voice, like most people do with pets. He doesn't use it with the adults, though - they deserve to be talked to like adults, after all!
_ Gonta building fun enclosures!! (I'm thinking about people with pet jumping spiders, specifically this one person who made their spider a miniature cat tree to explore for enrichment.) He knows what they need, and he can communicate with them to make their short life spans much more exciting! (Setting up tea parties with things they can eat; having an indoor garden area for the pollinators; etc)
_ There are many reasons that Gonta tears up or cries when his bugs are concerned. Celebrating an unexpectedly long life span, happy birthday!! A fight breaking out that he couldn't stop, between bugs that should have been just fine together... A new clutch of babies are hatching!! Oh, none of them made it... Having a staring contest with someone who follows his every movement!! A funeral for someone he's had a long time... Matchmaking a compatible match, they seem very happy!! An accident happened with the enclosure, or the food, or a person mishandled one of them... At the end of the day, sometimes just thinking about bugs is enough to do it!!!! And sometimes, "IT'S JUST SO TINY" is as valid a reason as any :D
_ Gonta is That Guy at bug conventions- people whisper excitedly about him as he passes by, ask for photos, and more than once, he's had someone come up to him and ask anything from, "Would you like to hold my [species name]?! I'd be so honored if you did!!" to "Would you like to be featured in our publication? Your work proceeds you!" He's getting used to it, slowly.
_ Gonta talks to himself. Gonta also talks to bugs and other creatures. It's hard to tell who he's talking to if he's the only person around, sometimes...
_ He loves bug art and tattoos and, while he might not have any tattoos himself, he ogles politely when people show him theirs! At least a few people have asked to get his scientific drawings done as tattoos and he's always initially like "why tho????" until he sees it and then it's "!!!!!!!!!!!" hehe

whats you and avvys opinion on velvet in veneer from trolls 3 ?
We like them! They're good villains, I like that they carry the theme of: siblings. :) Speaking honestly, I do really think it is smart to have your villains' conflict be similar to your protagonists; the conflict between Velvet and Veneer isn't so dissimilar from what BroZone deals with at the start of the film. JD is overly controlling and micro-managing his brothers, preoccupied with their fame, associating all their value with being 'perfect'... Meanwhile Velvet feels the same, willing to do w/e it takes for her and Veneer to succeed — without their fame, they'll be "nobodies", there's no point in being anything less than super famous celebrities.
Now what makes me sad is that Veneer adores Velvet so much that he is willing to defer to her, regardless of how he gets treated. He's not quite like the self-respecting Clay and Spruce of the past, who get fed up with JD's treatment, walk out on him. I feel like it's a testament to how attached Velvet and Veneer are, that Veneer can't even conceptualize it being different without Floyd's suggestion. Sad puppy about it... Need to be there for sister? :( Though, I even get the impression that Velvet would be lost without him... Er. She seems, unstable, in a particular way, makes me feel like it drove their peers away growing up. Naturally isolating for Velvet to be so self-centered and pushy, unaccommodating. Explosive.
It's played for laughs BUT, me and Avvy try and internalize that in Velvet's perspective, her and Veneer came from nothing and had a terrible childhood kfkfjhg... That's. Her reality! Her parents made her feel attacked and like a victim. Regardless of whatever is 'true'... It makes her actions feel pathological and like she really can't, help it, or check herself. So between this and the two feeling very attached, I find myself sympathizing with Velvet a lot more than with JD... who just comes off as a normal jerkish guy LOL. I think his complex is like, annoying, because he doesn't even like doing it, so it's weirdly self-imposed and ignoring the protest of his brothers. I at least feel as though Velvet ENJOYS when things are going 'well' for them, she is relishing in it more, and Veneer is mostly her yes-man, not fighting her. They're like, thotting out, languishing in their luxury, at the very least.
I like their scenes overall, I like their dialogue back and forth, ehh I especially like their strange, ostentatious kitty outfits in that interview, it's just INTERESTING... The vibes ongoing here. They're a bit weird with one another in a way that's like... lol... [watches......] Though I will be real, these designs are not actually horny for us. We just feel like a general appreciation for them?
I'll say in general it's good what the rageons are adding, having these weird betty spaghetty dolls in this craft world, it's like yeah sure! Especially in tandem with the muppety hacky sack guys on Vacay Island. We're all for expanding the variety of 'races' in the world, I enjoy going beyond the dichotomy of Bergen vs Troll. In fact, bergens wind up feeling really distinct, pretty 'organic' feeling compared to these other two... I like that rageons feel boneless and rubbery, their clothes feel like some real polly pocket snap-on pieces, the architecture feeling like playset crystals, perfume bottles... Even the 'fruits' that Crimp loads into the smoothie-machine are soo fake looking, very different from what Bergen food looks like! Greasy pizza and fries, verrry different feel to it all.
Trolls is the kind of franchise where you just enjoy being shown Things in the world, the enrichment is knowing... 'oh, there's a place like this, and these things are possible as well!' I mean just hearing about Veneer's monkey makes us go UGHHh whats that look like, must be so different from fuzzy monkey-like creatures you'll see in the woods near Pop troll village, aouauu what is it some solid color plastic monkeys-in-a-barrel lookin' thing... That is the delight experienced. So it's stimulating to be shown a new location and new inhabitants. Fun bonus that I like Velvet and Veneer as individuals. :)
