rocia certainly needed to be two shots deep for this particular facet of pledge hazing. she didn’t really tend to come across like the sorority type, maybe a little too dark and moody for it, but considering the opportunity that came with a spot as one of the shiny, pretty women in the greek system, it appealed to her more than one would assume. the second they lifted the veil and revealed the weird sexual politics and fucked up nature of it all… somehow she was even more game than she had been prior. this was one of the hazing activities that had inspired some nervous energy in her gut, being offered as a toy to use, belonging to someone for seven minutes of debauchery. it was mostly the waiting to be paired that gave her anxiety, but the second she locked eyes with them as the two of them approached the entrance of the storage cupboard they were being ushered into, she felt a surge of confidence. her chin tilted up, mouth lifting in a coy smile. “hi.” one of the sisters opened the door and she slipped inside, tiny, ridiculously skimpy outfit and all.

         some  part  of  nica  blames  chucky  for  her  birth  date  .   was  that  fair  ?   she  wasn't  completely  sure  about  that  ,  but  there  were  times  where  she  couldn't  bring  herself  to  care  .   it  was  a  clear  halloween  night  ,  a  full  moon  hanging  high  in  the  sky  ,  &&  nica  wasn't  sure  if  that  was  good  or  bad  .   she  wanted  to  have  a  little  fun  that  night  ,  although  maybe  not  in  the  traditional  sense  .   with  the  doll  situated  in  her  lap  ,  she  put  a  large  candy  bowl  on  the  rocking  chair  on  the  front  porch  .   it  was  one  of  two  ,  because  she  liked  sitting  outside  &&  had  quickly  figured  out  how  to  shift  herself  between  her  chair  &&  the  rocking  chair  .   was  the  chair  the  best  place  for  the  candy  bowl  ?   she  wasn't  really  sure  ,  but  she  also  wasn't  about  to  leave  it  on  the  railing  or  even  on  the  table  .   a  smirk  works  at  the  corners  of  her  mouth  as  she  lifts  the  doll  off  her  lap  ,  putting  it  behind  the  candy  bowl  .   once  the  doll  was  settled  ,  red  good  guy  stitching  on  his  overalls  almost  gleaming  in  the  light  ,  he  blinked  at  her  .

         “  when  i  said  i  wanted  to  cause  trouble  ,  this  wasn't  what  i  fucking  had  in  mind  ,  ”  chucky  hisses  ,  plastic  hands  on  either  side  of  the  bowl  .   admittedly  ,  it  looked  like  he  was  doing  his  best  to  hold  the  bowl  .

         nica  grabs  a  snickers  bar  from  the  bowl  &&  tilts  her  head  to  the  side  .   “  if  you  want  ,  you  could  stick  a  blade  or  two  into  the  bowl  .   plus  ,  you  can  scare  kids  .   don't  pretend  you  don't  love  how  quickly  they  scream  ,  ”  she  counters  before  positioning  herself  on  the  other  side  of  the  porch  .   she's  not  wearing  a  costume  ,  not  in  the  traditional  sense  .   she's  wearing  the  clothes  she  had  from  harrogate  ,  where  she'd  played  the  (  unwarranted  )  part  of  a  diagnosed  schizophrenic  .   she  &&  chucky  lock  eyes  across  the  porch  before  he  slumps  down  ,  taking  on  his  doll  -  like  appearance  .

had been watching her sprawled out on the rug, humming along to one of the old christmas records he'd put on. wind continued to rattle the windows, frost and snow blocking them off from the outside world though tanner didn't mind. the glass in his hand lifted to his lips once more, he finished off his drink and wiped his mouth, placing it down on the small console table behind him. "you know, this morning when i woke up i heard the strangest thing." bedrooms were connected, there was a chance she already knew what tanner was getting at, but he continued to slyly bring it up. "sounded like you havin' a little bit of personal time, which, hey, no judgement here, darlin', but uh... sounded like you were saying my name."

I don’t know where else to say this since indornaga’s anon asks aren’t enabled, but you did reblog the post regarding using the h slur to describe alterhuman experiences and I wanted to introduce the term “cosexual”. Cosexual as a term originated in botany and is a word that describes the same experience without being a slur. It has slowly evolved to apply beyond the botanical world as well. Why not use the term cosexual instead of the h slur? This is a completely genuine suggestion, not meaning to stir up any drama or anything. I hope to hear your thoughts on it.

Okay, that's the first suggestion I've seen that actually legitimately may mean the exact same thing as (simultaneous) hermaphrodite, so thank you - however, I'm a little hesitant to apply it outside of plants since it originated in botany; I do see at least one dictionary site indicating it can be used in general biology as well, but when I google "cosexual animal" I'm not getting any results, so I'm not sure if that actually is applicable outside of botany or not. There is also still the fact that there's two different kinds of hermaphroditic species, simultaneous and sequential, and cosexual only covers one of them, but it looks like there's another term for sequential (though, again, it looks like it's a botany term, not a zoology term).

Beside that, the point stands - it is the correct term, and while it absolutely is a slur when used on intersex people, that does not make it a slur in every context. Do we not still call apples fruits despite fruit being used as a slur against gay people? Is it wrong to call a wall protecting against flooding a dyke because that's used as a slur against lesbians? Is it wrong to call tailless primates apes because ape is used as a slur against black people? Of course not. This is the same thing. Many slurs originated from words that are perfectly inoffensive in their original contexts and meanings.

No one in this discussion is advocating for using hermaphrodite to mean intersex, or using it on anyone who doesn't want it applied to them. This sentence might get me in trouble, but - calling a species of dragon or sea slug with a fundamentally different sex setup than humans hermaphroditic quite simply has nothing to do with intersex people. The word has been misused and has caused harm, yes, and I'm not trying to downplay or ignore that, but that doesn't make its correct scientific usage retroactively incorrect or offensive. Calling an intersex person a hermaphrodite absolutely is a slur and is reprehensible behavior. Calling a sea slug a hermaphrodite is not.

I appreciate where you're coming from here, and if someone wants to use another term to talk about their kintype's genital setup, that's their decision, but I don't honestly think hermaphrodite should be off-limits because it's been used as a slur against a group of people who are unrelated to the thing being talked about. There's a lot of words that that's true of that we don't hold to that standard. (And, frankly, I've seen just as many intersex people saying that it's fine to use this way and trying to make it off-limits is stupid as I have intersex people saying it shouldn't be used even this way, so while I may have just wound up with a skewed sample by accident (happens), I'm not convinced it is consensus in the intersex community and not just people getting fired up over nothing to begin with.)

The problem was how constant and how identical the crime had been with the past cases happening around the area. Mitsuko had tried not to pay close attention to it, but being around the scene when the crime happened this time in particular had put her in the slightly bothersome predicament of having to serve as a witness.
