@aimeelouart I don't think Cursed is amused by the fact someone gave Atlas [who is a child] a summon especially one he doesn't have any knowledge of [especially one who's based around war and combat like Ravana]

massive spoilers for FFXIV Heavensward's primal called Ravana in this so if you don't want any spoilers don't read on [if you don't care about spoilers feel free to proceed]

for people who don't know Ravana is from FFXIV/FF14 Heavensward [he's not in any other Final Fantasy games either and is the Primal also called Lord of the Hive [Ravana was summoned in FFXIV via Gnath's lust for war against the Dravanians reached a fever pitch  as a consequence of a dragon wounded by the ishgaurdians crashing into their nest, The Warrior of Light and Ysayle, needing to see the dragon Hraesvelgr, challenged Ravana to a duel with the primal vowing to quell the Gnaths' bellicosity if defeated while having his opponents promise to become his servants should he be victorious. After a hard battle, Ysayle having been defeated in her Shiva form, the Warrior of Light triumphed and Ravana honored his promise to have the Gnath cease their campaign. (As what the wiki says)]

Ravana's appearance is like a giant bug with fire and four giant swords

Ravana's says this when you fight him:

"Gahahaha! Thou art bold indeed to risk thy fleshy hide so readily! Very well. I, Ravana, fourfold master of the blade, do accept thy challenge!"

Fourfold master of the blade, savior of the insect-like Gnath tribe. A warrior and conqueror, Ravana respects strength and abhors weakness. He revels in battle with worthy opponents, and is known to wield the legendary Chandrahas blades.

Ravana does uphold his part of any deals/promises when given them so perhaps if Cursed earns Ravana's trust and beats Ravana in battle [even any deals/promises are spoken] then Ravana will aid Cursed in battles if needed.

Hopefully the wiki helps also Ravana's theme sounds cool the name if his theme is Unbending Steel [which plays after his ultimate attack] if anyone is curious of the song that's it's name.

Practice 1 - Inspiration, Artists, and Other influences

My references for the companions and the enemy creature come from the MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV and Stranger of Paradise which is also a game in the Final Fantasy universe but with different artstyle. Both games offer a wide range of artwork for boss designs and pet/companions. In particular I was looking in depth into boss fights Nidhogg and Shinriuy Final Fantasy 14 also has impressive boss arenas, some developed with large scale battles in mind for up to 48 players and some are smaller designed for a party of 8 players to resolve boss mechanics in sync.

The arena of a boss is always good to consider while designing a boss due to getting the right scale for the room and correct perspective boss and camera perspective for the player. Final Fantasy 14 has a difficulty known as Savage, in this difficulty most bosses have a phase 2 which they usually transition into with a cinematic cutscene. Sometimes even the boss arena can transition to signifying the player has reached phase 2, this is done by a wide area of effect damage which is usually white and flashy or too dark to see anything, and as the attack vfx fades out the arena is already different. This got me thinking of possibly doing a phase 2 for my enemy creature and how I can show it to the player that it has occurred.

For the artstyle I am looking for, I wanted a high fantasy open world game. Some good references for this are Legends of Zelda: Breath of the wild and Wayfinder. Both take the fantasy theme, but use two different and unique art styles. Wayfinder uses the recently very popular stylized look also seen in Valorant and League of Legends Arcane. And Breath of the Wild uses the classic anime cel shaded art.

The magical girl character takes inspiration from shows such as Sailor Moon and Winx. Both are known for high budget outfit transformation sequences and recognisable looks for each character. Often the hairstyle and color scheme are also different and unique which ties in with the magic powers they can do. When creating this character I want to focus on a theme and follow through on this theme when it comes to the outfit, attack abilities and weapon.

TRU BLU~

I am EXCITED!   Blue Mage confirmed for 4.5 and I can’t be happier.  I know there is a LOT of controversy over how it is being implemented, but honestly I don’t care.  -I- like how it’s being done, that is all that matters for -my- excitement.

BLU fits my character’s background as being an aether researcher.  Learning skills from Monsters, converting what I learned into actually being able to use their skills as my own.  It is everything I wanted for Xander.  Sure I can’t main BLU until it catches up, but I am content with what they are giving us to start with.

I understand if you aren’t happy with the news, but please, even if you are.  Do not put people who are excited down.  Do not antagonize others who are happy with what we got.  Do not attack people for liking something you don’t.  It is ok to not like Blue Mage as it is.  It is ok to voice your dislike as much as it is ok for me to voice my liking.  What isn’t ok is attacking people for their opinions on this.  Support it or don’t, but do not attack others for their opinions.

According to data from April 2020:

Most characters exist in American realms

Most characters are female Miqo'te, followed by male Hyur

The most popular class is Conjurer, followed by Arcanist

Grand Company distribution is pretty even, but majority of characters belong to the Order of the Twin Adder

Most Beast Tribe minions were retrieved from Kobolds and Sylphs
