#icemav #top gun edit #ice is a FASCINATING one to watch post-hop 31 imo because while yes‚ obviously‚ the focus is on maverick and his grief and devastation #ice is there the whole time in the background‚ watching. and he's visibly disturbed by what he's seeing. because yeah -#he and mav had a rivalry going and yeah he called maverick dangerous and reckless to his face and he stands by that - he does.#but the problem is that this time - this one fluke freak accident of a time - it wasn't maverick's fault at all.#an unrecoverable flat spin brought on by a compressor stall from ice's jetwash isn't something that maverick could've outflown #by sticking to textbook maneuvers. it was just shit luck and shitty circumstances aligning to create a tragic mishap.#but now - now ice can see the way maverick is unraveling in the aftermath #and i'd bet that on some level it terrifies him to see that.#he's used to seeing maverick with all that brash cocky confidence with the moves to back it up.#he's maybe even had a bit of fun jockeying against that. not that he'd admit that out loud. (yet)#but maverick's spiraling now - a hollowed out shell of his former self - leaking grief and self-doubt and despair everywhere he goes #and it actually hurts to look at for ice‚ seeing maverick like this. seeing how much maverick really REALLY fucking cared under that facade #and wondering if maverick is finally taking the stuff ice said to him to heart‚ but applying it all wrong.#so he watches maverick and eventually that concern builds to a point where he tries to offer an olive branch in the locker room #you can SEE how carefully he gathers himself - how much he's holding back - he doesn't want to say the wrong thing to maverick NOW #he doesn't want to make this worse than it already is. so it comes out stilted. it's earnest - but restrained. he can't find his footing.#he doesn't know where he and maverick stand now but he's sorry - that goose is gone‚ that maverick's going through this‚#that he doesn't know how to help or what to say‚ and - crucially - for his own part in this.#but he wants mav to stick around and push through this. even though he's dangerous. even though he's reckless. ice wants him to beat this.#so when maverick shows up to graduation‚ ice is encouraged. and he's a little warmer. maverick really might pull through.#but then‚ all too soon‚ it's ice's life on the line in maverick's hands. and it scares the shit out of him because maverick's not ready #and now ice - and slider - are going to have to pay the price for that.#and then‚ against all odds‚ maverick pushes through. he comes back for them. he comes back for ice.#and after that...well.#after that‚ ice does know what to say: a vow.#my amvs #linds original

#spn #vid #spnamvarchive #so fun fact i started making this more than a year ago. got it 90% done. and then was like no this isn't working #i will come back to this later.#it turns out that i needed to make some videos about cas and angels (the love club + help i'm alive amvs)#in order to make this one. anyway this video is about french mistake robert singer voice season six #i really struggled with it because i could NOT find the thread until i realized that it needed to be literally godstiel pov #it's about love and desire and jealousy and hurt and omnidirectional rage <3 #it's about the fact that cas is so utterly dependent on dean for his self-image - however dean sees him that's it #it's about having a moment of reflection about lashing out before you do it but doing it anyway #it's about taking cruelty and dishing it out #and crucially. it's about being pregnant #mpregpocalypse #fun fact: i made a post about working on three season six amvs all the way back in nov. 2022 #and only now have they come to fruition (this one + love club + metric)#anyway. have you heard that cas is obsessed #the thing is i do kinda want to add some specific director's commentary here. like the first verse is about cas being like.#incredibly deeply emotionally vulnerable to dean. as in: his emotional state and self-image is totally dominated by what dean thinks of him #and if dean is mad at him. and then the second verse is about... dean upsetting him and him responding to that by Killing Everybody lol #like he has a moment of reflection ['certain regrettable things are now required of me' + killing rachel] where he's like i've 1) also done #bad things and 2) i feel bad about it so maybe i will regret Killing Everyone. but then he does it anyway due to everybody keeps turning #on him. i feel like the rest of the amv is self evident. i guess i should note that 'share a paradise' is about how both of them have #a nostalgic view of the early days of their relationship when it wasn't Like This lol. but everything else i think is self evident.#oh and the reason the other angels flash onscreen with their burned wings at the end is i'm EVOKING the image of cas' wings burning. even #though it doesn't happen. i'm evoking it

I'm so sorry but the song is hardwired into my brain to think "that's the Miles Spiderverse song" to think of anything else 😭 I'm glad you're able to pull Symweaver out of it! I do enjoy listening to songs with ships in mind when I'm drawing, so I'll try to revisit it with them in mind

It's a common shippy song, but I really enjoy "From the Start" by Laufey for Symweaver because I love the idea that either they both of them thought their feelings were unrequited until they were adults, or that Lifeweaver was always aware of her feelings and just let her vibe until she was comfortable expressing it

#i was watching anime wolf amvs just as a little silly #but it made me realize that whole genre of art REALLY influenced my art when i was younger #it wasnt something that id noticed before but looking back pretty much everything i made #was chasing after that style #dogs and wolves being emotional. simplistic backgrounds. unrealistic proportions and markings #i wish i could find all this stuff easily. i have old sketchbooks but #all of my early digital art is lost to time. either on unsaved ibispaint shit or drawcast/framecast #which shut down! awful awful...#beginning/intermediate artists please im begging you find a good place to save your art in a way that'll last #you might think it cringy or bad but after a while you'll want to look back on it!#i dont remember much of what i thought as a child but i can connect with that little fella by looking at my shitty furry art #that i was so so proud of. and then i wasn't proud of it. and then i was proud again.#total rant soz #labyposting

amvs & animatics are the most powerful form of fan-content by the way. if you even care.

#rambles #no other medium is as good at condensing a piece of media into a solid brick and hitting you over the head #they're much harder to recommend though. its like. if this amv doesnt hit you as hard as it hit me then i will be miserably embarrassed #also I think amvs have never escaped the perception of being Cringe the way fics and fan art have. SAD.#i've never looked up a piece of fan art five years later but you better believe i'm doing it with amvs #fan fic is also very powerful but I do not possess the ability to find good fan fic on my own rip #also maybe part of the reason they hit harder is just that. I can't make amvs.#maybe its just easier when I can't see the 'seams' of how something was made
