I can't stop writing the Henry engagement fic, which is nearing 12k and not done yet. 🫣 It's very hard to snippet this fic without giving away spoilers, so please enjoy this conversation between Henry and June, completely free of context.

“Are you alright, Henry? You look tired.” When he chances a glance up, June is looking at him with sympathy, not judgment. “Just typical wedding jitters, I suppose. I’m sure everyone gets cold feet.” “It’s common,” she replies slowly. “Although I didn’t when I married Nora.” Her lips lift into a small smile, a fond look coming over her face. “Oh?” Henry’s relieved to have the attention off himself for a moment.  “Yeah, it was easy. It just felt right, and I was excited to get married. When you know, you know.” She shrugs and starts to turn before pausing. “You’ll let me know if you need anything – anything at all, okay?” Henry nods, his heart in his throat, before she leaves, closing the door quietly behind her and leaving Henry alone with his many, many thoughts.

The roll of Henry’s eyes feels so much like home that Alex can’t stop the answering babbling chuckle from his lips.

“Did you really have to?” Henry blurts out at his sister once Alex is out of hearing range.

“Look at you, Hen!” Bea motions to the fresh bruises on his face. “Of course I was going to thank him.”

Henry pinches the bridge of his nose, already seeing the dead end of trying to argue with her on this. Something that alarmingly reminds him of his conversations with Alex until now.

“Pez?” He turns his attention to his best friend.

“Right, so, uh, you're dead. Basically speaking,” he says nonchalantly. "He's got everyone on your tails. Both of you."

So some ppl were very interested in my crossover WIP so I decided to give you a lil glimpse

And then, after an especially rough week at work, Eddie had suggested they'd drive down to Texas for a few days, where his family has a nice lake house. Lucky for them Eddie's parents are on a trip on their own so they wouldn't have to go visit and could spend the time together without any disturbance.

Well, that had been the plan at least.

Buck watches Eddie lifting the phone to his ear as the two figures slowly keep advancing. When he notices that both of them have one hand resting on something behind their back, Buck's stomach lurches. His first instinct is to jump out the car and get Eddie down and out of sight but then he hears his voice through the half closed passenger door.

"Yeah Alex, it's me Eddie. Yeah. Could you call your guard dogs off, please? Yeah I'm outside. Great. Thanks." He hangs up and raises both of his hands up, so it's obvious that they're empty.

Not the Hero

When Alex landed his first job as a stuntman, his dad had sat him down to pass on some advice. Don’t take on more than you can handle just to impress someone, he’d said, and never hide injuries. Always speak up if you’re concerned about safety on set. Make sure to always get enough sleep. And never, ever, get involved with the actors. He never said anything about directors, though.

(When Alex agreed to take a job doing stunts for a movie directed by his ex, all he wanted was to make it out in one piece. After a rocky start, they figure out a way to work together again, but that new equilibrium is tested when the film’s lead actor goes missing and Alex finds himself thrown into a world of secrets, blackmail, and people actually trying to kill him. Saving Henry’s movie just might be his most dangerous stunt yet, but can he play the hero, or is he destined to be the fall guy?)

here's a snip from my upcoming multichap, two years from tomorrow! it is an au of the sandra bullock x keanu reeves early 2000s romantic drama The Lake House. if you have never seen it and want to read this, DON'T GOOGLE IT JADSFJLASDF stay ignorant! if you HAVE seen it, don't worry—i have made some changes. :) my second multichap just HAD to be another sandra movie...except this time, unlike ice queen henry in the proposal au, sandra is ALEX. because everyone deserves to be sandra bullock at least once.

Alex Claremont-Diaz deserves some fucking peace and quiet and rest, and this lake house is moving him one step closer to outrunning law-related burnout of epic proportions. Or at least, that’s what he hopes; he’s not quite sure yet what this house will hold for him. Year after year of relentless caseloads and emotionally draining yet fulfilling clients will do that to a person—fills them up, but at a steep personal cost. And Alex’s wellbeing is here to fucking collect. Luna was pretty clear about the whole thing: “A three month sabbatical, kid. No arguments. Better not see your ass darkening Luna & Associates’ fuckin’ doors until April.” So. Lake it is. Peace and quiet. No stress. His lease was up anyway, so he crashed at June’s and diligently searched for housing near but not in Chicago. He’s going for serene, here. Goodbye, high rises and pavement. Hello, waterfront views and enlightenment. 

january, henry:

Henry Fox-Mountchristen is bloody terrified of moving into this place, with its memories and sadness and joy attached, and this lake house is forcing him one step closer to confronting a final piece of the grief puzzle he’s been avoiding for years.   Or at least, that’s what he’s afraid of; he’s not quite sure yet what this house will hold for him.  The past was full of laughter echoing in the halls, late night sketching at the threadbare dinner table, secrets and fears whispered into the nooks and crannies. The present, however, is full of running. From his fears, from his demons, from laughter and sketching and secrets.  But Henry’s tired. Year after year of agonizing pain and subsequent expensive therapy will do that to a person—drains them, builds them up, then drains them again. Rinse and repeat, hope eternally on the horizon, fears loitering on his doorstep. And those aforementioned demons have finally caught up and are knocking rather insistently.

wip wednesday (firstprince project edition)

A few Fridays ago I teased the pet project that’s eaten every second of my free time for months. And in honor of the birth of everyone’s favorite obtuse fucking asshole, I’m posting a more formal sneak peek of the things coming very, very soon. Fellow FirstPrince peoples, may I humbly present the…

As I mentioned, this project is a collection of keepsakes and custom ephemera all about Alex and Henry. A full rundown of what’s included in both the Curated and Complete Collections will be available when the launch goes live, but here’s a closer look at some of the selections and a few details.

Both collections have custom components, including the ability to build your own charm bracelet and pick which signet ring you’d prefer (an accurate replica of the movie’s “H” monogram or a book-influenced Mountchristen-Windsor crest).

The ephemera included in each collection tells a story of its own, following major milestones in Alex and Henry’s relationship timeline from first meeting to happy ever after. The various pieces have been gold foiled, holo-stamped, custom-designed, painstakingly replicated, and professionally printed (because I’m extra like that).

The perishable items are paired off in the Curated Collection — you can choose between Henry’s Earl Grey and Alex’s obleas con cajeta, or Alex’s cinnamon-spiked Mexican coffee and Henry’s Jaffa Cakes. (The Complete Collection comes with all four.)

The veladora art comes courtesy of the impeccable @ambiguouspenny, who also did a very special second piece for the Complete Collection (which you can get a little glimpse of above).

There’s a stash of vintage Jane Austen hardcovers just waiting for that Henry Fox bookplate.

The sad thing is, this isn’t even everything. I can’t wait for y’all to see the pieces I’ve saved for the launch, and exactly where and how that second @ambiguouspenny piece comes into play.

Since this sneak peek is bowing on one March birthday, it seems only fitting to drop the full reveal for the other. Ordering will officially open on March 27th. If I did, I’d be ten million pounds richer, for a start.” Twice a year like clockwork, ex-Queen Mary, now the Duchess of Washington and holed up in one of her cousin’s royal properties in London along with her daughter and two remaining grandchildren, pops up on social media to remind the American population of the reward on offer for her younger grandson’s safe return. There have been literally dozens of fake Henrys over the years, all hoping to get their hands on the cash, all soon finding themselves on the wrong side of treason charges. He looks at Nora’s computer screen again, fingers drumming anxiously on the desk as he tips his chair back on its rear legs. “I’m telling you, though, I know that guy.”

I'm still plugging away at the Henry engagement fic. (It's missing something just don't ask me what.) This fic is SO HARD to tease without spoiling that no matter how much longer it takes me to finish this thing, this might be the last bit you get. (Probably not bc I have no chill.) 🫠

“I talked to June,” Pez tells him. “You–” “She wanted me to check on you because of the quote unquote ‘business with Alex,’ and I was both shocked and embarrassed because I had never heard the name before.” “That’s because it’s none of your business,” Henry sniffs, drying his face and throwing the tissue in the bin. “It most certainly is, you’re my best mate.” “I can’t believe June blabbed, that meddling prat.” “Don’t blame her,” Pez replies, glaring at Henry. He has rarely seen Pez angry. “She wouldn’t tell me a thing once she realized I didn’t know what she was talking about, and it was rather mortifying to have to try and charm her into telling me.” “Did she?” “No. She’s an angel and her integrity wouldn’t allow it. But as your best mate and best man, I should bloody well know about the ‘business with Alex.” “There is nothing to tell,” Henry says firmly.

“Don’t ice me out again.” He means for it to be firm. A demand, not a request. But the words come out sounding small.  “Alex��” Henry ducks his head. But, Alex cuts in before he can say anything more.  “I don’t need much. I’m happy to take whatever you want to give me.” The promise is so clear in the words. There’s no denying that Alex means every word. “Don’t make me lose you again. I barely survived it the first time.” Henry searches his gaze for long moments. Alex isn’t sure what exactly Henry’s looking for. But he won’t let himself look away. He lets it all play out along his features for Henry to see—the earnestnes, the longing, maybe even a bit of the hope.  Finally, Henry’s eyes flit down to their joined hands. A bob works itself down his throat and even still, there’s something ragged in the words when he speaks again. “I don’t want to lose you, either.”

Seven Sentences Sunday Monday

I am currently on the tarmac in an airplane to do a short term move across the ocean for a work project… So I am a little harried (on mobile) and a lot excited for both this move and all of the INSANE snippets yesterday.

As a little treat for all the amazing words I was fed here is the first (slightly nsfw) look at my multichap magical realism soulmate au “Mind Over Matter”

Alex’s stomach plummets out of his ass and settles somewhere in the southern hemisphere, about three thousand miles from where he is currently nursing his only drink of the night.

He scrutinizes the image in front of him, a prince and a first daughter, twirling around on a croquette floor inside a Swarovski laden venue that inexplicably cost enough to feed a medium sized country if the seventy-five thousand pound cake is anything to go by.

It’s a waltz in 3/4 time, and Alex’s fingers twitch at an approximation of the one-two-three step that he perfected through one-too-many lessons on royal etiquette with Zahra in the last three months in preparation for propriety at this “event of the century.”

Propriety is the last thing on his mind in this very moment.

Because tell him why the fuck Mr. Straight- and-Narrow isn’t thinking about June right now.

Instead, Alex can hear, clear as a bell, with more lucidity than he has ever heard anyone’s thoughts before that Henry, yes the god damn Prince of England, does not want to have his arms around June.

Instead, he’d much rather they were gripping Alex’s head, hands tugging on tousled curls as he pulls Alex onto his cock.

Well… I’ll leave you with that to ruminate on while I disappear across the ocean till Wednesday to give you more <3

@dot524: This is an extraordinarily sad and poignant story about the tragedy of a failed relationship and the efforts to bring it back together. Alex and Henry used to be together, but they grew apart. As part of their breakup, Henry underwent a procedure that caused him to forget Alex, and Alex decides to do the same thing. What will they do when they realize that it was a mistake? This is an Eternal Sunlight of the Spotless Mind AU, and I’m not familiar with that story, but the fic is engrossing and well-done. It’s also almost finished. Check it out!

@dot524: Alex and Henry are work rivals who are both working themselves to the bone. It turns out that they used to be together, but they broke up. Their assistants, Nora and Pez, have come up with a plan to get them together - mainly to make their own jobs tolerable. But Alex and Henry are working through a painful past, and things are not always as they seem. I was snorting reading the most recent chapter - this one is just fun, joyful, and hilarious. Plus there are some flashbacks to their relationship that make you feel all the feels. Can’t wait to see how the author gets these two together!

@na-dineee: I think this is Sarah’s first multi-chap fic? Alex and Henry were childhood best friends, a friendship that meant the world to Alex. But that’s all in the past. Still, Alex’s stubborn heart never stopped loving Henry... The WiP is posted about halfway through, and it’s as beautifully poetic as you’d expect from Sarah. Alex and Henry sign up to do a reality show (if you haven't watched it, don't worry. I haven't and I'm enjoying it all the same!) in which they are supposed to get married to a complete stranger--except it turns out they already know each other, and Alex has been nursing a grudge for years. We're only a chapter in but the tension has already built up to an excellent level and I can't wait to keep reading.
