i was rereading some water 7 chapters, and the introduction of kaku was so funny. i love when luffy and zoro are using the same braincell even at a distance

luffy meeting kaku, ch. 325 "usopp?"

and zoro meeting kaku, ch 326 "oh, just usopp"

vs. Egghead arc and meeting kaku again post time skip - with nothing really changing of how luffy perceives some people (ch. 1078)

and also kaku meeting zoro on the sunny on Egghead prior the scene above and their lines echoing the first meeting on Water 7 - "I'm sorry. Did I wake you?" vs here "Who dares to disturb my nap?"

There should be an arc in the campaign that starts with "Fuck you, unfishes ur Gilly" and the whole arc is Gillion talkin shit about being human while they work to reverse it

the further I watch into one piece the less I'm thinking about what the one piece even is and the more I'm convinced that Roger was a dude with ADHD who cannot remember where he left the one piece "oh it's right where I left it in that one place and I definitely know where that is but you'll just have to find it yourself but yep it's for sure right where I left it and, again, I absolutely know where that is"

Ughhhhhh I hate having an AU idea but not knowing enough about the original property to fully do it justice.

On a very related note, One Piece AU where Nami is a fishman and goes through so much misplaced self-loathing and emotional turmoil thanks to Arlong.

the funniest bit in one piece that's not even funny on purpose is when oda goes out of his way to emphasize over and over again that a woman who is about to appear is without a doubt the most beautiful woman in the world without equal and then they show her and she looks exactly like every other one piece woman

as im watching the FMI arc i genuinely found this scene to be so interesting, Luffy's selfishness isn't anything new here but to see him acknowledge it and even have an analogy for it is really amusing. Probably one of the most unique MCs i've seen in a while, and I think it's really cool how morally ambiguous the rest of the straw hats are too, it makes me love the characters and the show so much more for some reason. it keeps things really surprising to me because they don't always choose the path that will "save the world" or whatever but will instead benefit them (it just happens that they can tell right from wrong and so most of the time their actions have positive effects)
