Modern Mermaid / h2o AU: Astrid, Ruffnut, Heather, Rosethorn

I’m from the deep blue under world Land or sea I’ve got the power if I just believe

Astrid: face claim➡ Cariba Heine, red/orange tail, can heat up water, later also control fire and electricity, was one of the best surfers along with her boyfriend hiccup, had to stop surfing forever because she became a mermaid, first hates being a mermaid because of it but she goes along and later loves it.

Ruffnut: face claim➡ Taylor Momsen, blue tail, can freeze water, later also control ice, frost, snow etc., she and her bro are the biggest troublemakers on the island, is the only one who loved that she became a mermaid from the start, is the last one to discover her powers, sometimes uses them to confuse and prank people.

Heather: face claim➡ Katie McGrath, white/silver tail, can manipulate water and sing like a siren, later also control wind and air, is afraid of her powers at first then the girls change her mind, sings in a cafe, she quits after becoming a mermaid and discovering that her voice hypnotises people, later starts again because she learns to control it, lives with her brother.

Rosethorn (oc from @edge-of-bizarre): face claim➡ Brittany Byrnes, green tail, can turn water into a gelatin-like substance and also harden it to become glass/crystal, was turned into a mermaid at the age of 12, is the only one whose parents know about her, works at a marine park (sea world) after coming to berk.

@fishthorn I needed meat. In Zorlu, Gunaydin is one of the best places you can eat meat. The dish you choose is always very good, never lets you down. I've not been eating meat outside for a while, and today was good in terms of that. Whenever I eat or see meat, I think of my friend E and O. One is a meat lover and one is a vegetarian :) O, please don't judge me, I love you.

doesn’t seem like one from here. 

I also don’t get the “more is more” ideology of my countrymen. right now, Turkey goes with 30 [thirty(!)] ‘metropolis’s. the biggest problem for a population is not being enough. as if the only competitor (!) is India. maybe China too.

my neighbour wants even more children, although they hardly take care of the one they have.

How do you think married life would suite the couples?

Hiccstrid

I would say married life wouldn’t be that big of a change for hiccstrid. Hiccup and Astrid are so laid back and comfortable in their relationship I’m pretty sure the only difference in married life would be that they have their own house and don’t have to sneak around and find places to have sex lol. Once kids come around life would get pretty hectic with being the chief and the chief’s right hand but they’d manage.

Rufflout

Since I headcanon that Ruff got pregnant before she and Snot where married I imagine marriage life started off kinda rushed and very busy with getting their house set up and preparing for their twin girls. Of course things eventually calm down and I imagine married life is pretty good especially with Uncle Tuffnut there to help take care of the girls.

Fishthorn

Well I think Rose and Legs (who are the last of the gang to get married) are like hiccstrid. They’re comfortable with each other and have a very happy time. The difference is that while Hiccup and Astrid are more focused on running the village, Fishlegs and Rose are really excited to start a family. So excited that Rose gets pregnant only a few months after their honeymoon. They have the most kids out of the gang so marriage life is filled with constantly expanding their house and trying to keep track of their six kids.

Modern Mermaid / h2o AU: Httyd characters

You don’t mess with mermaids!

Some more details to the AU: The story and all is based on the TV-Show H2O Just add water

Astrid, Ruffnut and Heather fall into the moon pool on the full moon on the island Mako (not gonna change the original name, but the island they’re all living on is Berk). The next morning Astrid discovers shes a mermaid when shes taking a shower and she suddenly falls down and has a tail. Her tail is orange/red. Ruff finds out because Tuffnut splashes water on her and when shes about to hit him she falls down in front of him with a tail. Her tail is blue. Heather finds out when she’s brushing her teeth, also falls down 10 seconds after the water touches her skin. Her tail is white/silver.

They also later discover that they have water-based superpowers, Astrid can heat up water and also has other heat-based powers, Ruff can freeze it and has ice-based powers and Heather can control it. Since Heather naturally can sing good, she also gets a siren voice, she can switch between her normal singing voice and her siren voice. Also there is Rosethorn (oc from @edge-of-bizarre) she appears later, she can turn water into jelly or make it hard. I’ll tell more about the powers later.

Astrid is very confused and at first unhappy about it all and she tells her boyfriend Hiccup right away that she, Ruff and Heather suddenly turn into mermaids. She sprays water on herself and he starts laughing, he stops when she falls down in front of him. Hiccup is a surfer and son of the mayor. He then tells Fishlegs, his best friend. They’re both very smart, Hiccup is good with marine biology and Fish with science. So they all begin to discover and explore what happened to them and why and how etc.

Ruffnut is very happy and excited about her new gift. She doesnt see a problem in telling Snotlout, the guy with whom she hooks up sometimes, spoiled cousin of Hiccup. And also her and Tuff’s bestfriend. She just kinda drags him to the sea and turns into a mermaid in front of him and while Tuffnut screams into his face “THIS IS SO AMAZING, DO YOU SEE IT??? OH MY G O O O O D” Snotlout faints (such drama). And both twins cant stop laughing. When he wakes up he lies on the beach and Ruff in her mermaid form lies beside him and is like “I’m still here😏” and shows off her tail.

Heather has just discovered that Dagur, the guy who is rumoured to be crazy, always searches for hints of mermaids to the point of obsession, believes in their existence because he saw one once and always tries to prove it to the others, is her brother. And she, who never believed him and called him crazy, is now a mermaid herself. They live together because their father disappeared and she is afraid to tell him, she’s afraid that he will use her and her friends to get rich or something and she’s guilty that she didnt believe him, she still doesn’t know him very well because they just found out that they’re related. He eventually finds out about them because he traps her on the Mako island. He freaks out and there is a long speech and all, then he swears with his life that he will protect the secret.

Rosethorn comes later 2 or 3 years after the other girls have turned into mermaids. She turned into a mermaid on a trip around the Mako island when her family was on a vacation on Berk, she was a mermaid since 12. Her tail is green. She finds out that she isnt the only one when she swims to Mako’s moon pool and Astrid is there in her mermaid form with Hiccup and Fishlegs, exploring something. They see that its the new girl (because everyone knows everyone on Berk) they see her tail, she sees Astrid’s tail, and she at first panics and swims away. She later meets them again and they talk and yeah.

Powers: Astrid: Hydro-Thermokinesis (heating or boiling water), Pyrokinesis (control over fire), Electrokinesis (controlling and manipulating electricity) Ruffnut: Hydro-Cryokinesis (freezing water), Cyrokinesis (ability to manipulate and control frost, ice, cold, snow etc.) Heather: Hydrokinesis (elemental ability to create, control and manipulate water), Aerokinesis (manipulating and controlling the wind and the air), Siren Singing (puts a person (usually a man) into an irresistible, hypnotic trance) Rosethorn: Gelidkinesis (turning water into a jelly-like substance), Substanciakinesis (ability to harden the water into a something similar to glass or crystal)

I’ve seen your art on Rosethorn and I downright LOOOOVE her! I don’t know how we happened to get the same sort of headcanon for Fishlegs’ wife back in the day, but I will say that I adore your OC and Fishlegs.
