I don't really know if Rosita is really her government name but I'd like to think so!
Also I would probably react the same way if Lilith was in my vicinity, I'm no better than a man... /ref

Yearly reminder to leave wheelchair users alone. This is important all year, but especially in winter!
Almost everywhere is designed for abled people, leaving wheelchair users at a disadvantage. Roads are uneven, there is unpaved walking paths, and in winter we get extra obstacles.
Wheelchair users are forced to take whatever path we can and sometimes that happens to be right smack in the middle of the road.
If a wheelchair user seems stuck (especially in winter) you can ask us if we would like some help. Otherwise please be patient with us and only drive or walk around us if it is safe to do so! Wheelchair users' lives are more important than wherever you are driving. You can wait.

Quote
"They never tell you some things," Briar said bitterly. "They tell you mages have wonderful power and they learn all kinds of secrets. Nobody ever mentions that some secrets you don't ever want to learn." "All you can do is learn good to balance the bad," Rosethorn told him. "Learn and do all the good within your reach. Then, if you wake in a sweat, you have something to set against the dream."

Another reason why the the Circle of Magic is so so good: the teachers and the school setting are done perfectly!
There is none of that Harry Potter bullshit where the teachers and adult figures were neglectful, incompetent or abusive. The teachers in Circle of Magic are amazing. They all have different teaching styles, but they dedicate themselves to their students and do a wonderful job. They make mistakes, but realistic ones and then they fix them.
Not only are they great teachers, but the Winding Circle Temple isn't just a school, it's a home. Hogwarts was a school, and the students lived there, but it never seemed to be a good home. There are very few adults, all intimidating and not very personal. There is unchecked bullying and very little free time. It's just never ending school with some holidays thrown in.
The Winding Circle Temple, on the other hand, feels like a home. First, a temple is such a neat setting for a children's book. They actually talk about midnight service, religious figures and holidays, and philosophy. It's very neat.
The kids have plenty of lessons, but they also have free time, and the teachers are also good caretakers. Lark teaches the kids handstands and tumbling. Frostpine told them stories. Rosethorn taught them how to make sun lotion. Gorse gives them treats whenever they drop by. Lark and Rosethorn take the kids to markets and festivals. Throughout it all, the adults are responsible, teach the kids all sorts of life lessons and skills, and are really amazing adult characters.
This is how a school type book should be written.

If you see someone going somewhere in a wheelchair (or any other mobility aid for that matter) YOU should move for them. It is a lot easier for you to move than us. Sometimes even we can't move. Here we get a lot of snow and sometimes the only place I can physically move is the middle of the road. I've also gotten stuck on snowy sidewalks because people have refused to move for me. I'm so close to just running over people in my way, so please just move for us. Thank you

Moon seven’s got everything; teenage angst, young love, and ghosts! It’s October, and the comic this moon will be very, very important!
Also, if you don’t remember, Firestorm is the father of the pink sisters and died on moon zero (prologue part 3). Blazestar is the old clan’s leader (prologue part 2). Swanjaw is her son, who also died in Swampclan’s assault on old Bayclan. This is their first time being shown in a drawing. I wonder how they know each other?

Something I enjoy about Tamora Pierce's Circle of Magic series is that the children have real, normal flaws, and are never blamed for having them, only gently corrected over time and with experience.
Sandry doesn't have that many, she's very open minded, but has some flaws in her teens. But the other three have flaws and prejudices when they arrive at Winding Circle.
Briar is slightly sexist. He protests at living with girls, and doesn't really believe they are much use in a fight until later. He complains about female stereotypes that don't really apply, such as the girls sticking their noses into his business, talking excessively, or being weepy and emotional.
Daja is xenophobic to anyone who isn't a Trader. She openly calls people a slur, even Sandry in the beginning. It takes some time to accept others not of her people as her family. She still carries that orginal xenophobia a long ways, though.
Tris is very prejudiced, she was raised that way. She is horrified to share a house with a Trader, a noble and a former street rat. Several times in the books she disparaged people she thought as lesser, such as the poor and Traders. In Briar's Book she calls street kids animals, and blames the poor for the pox.
None of these traits are super obvious, and they aren't called out right away. They are also perfectly normal prejudices and problems for children to have, especially those raised by prejudiced adults. The books doesn't encourage you to hate these children for it, nor do the kids change right away. It's a slow process fueled by their teachers and their experiences, as well as each other.
It's really great for children to read the book, recognize some flaws they have, and work through them as the characters do. And it's done mostly subconsciously too. It's a sensitive topic that is very well done.
