For most of my growing up years, I was dancing ballet. And during those times, I was overly critical of my body. I wasn't long and thin. I also didn't have great feet. Don't get me wrong, even if I felt that way, I loved ballet. It still remains to be a huge part of who I am and it also taught me many life lessons about perseverance, failure, work ethic, and so much more. I just didn't fit the mould that the art usually required and that affected my relationship with my body for many, many years. When I stopped dancing, I started trying all kinds of sports because my body craved to expend energy. I did wushu, then running, and so on. It was when I got so into fitness that I went through a journey of rediscovering myself and my body. I became more fixated on what my body can do than what it should look like. I never saw myself as athletic growing up. In fact, I was always the "mahinhin" one. But I started doing things I thought I never could! I discovered that the body is so so amazing; it's a great tool and gift! It can do wonders for you if you take care of it and hone it. Fast forward to today, I am still so amazed every time my body proves me wrong or reveals more about myself, not only in the physical aspect, but also in countless other ways. Every workout is a moment of self-discovery, learning, and truth! My love for fitness just continues to swell because it never fails to teach me new things. πŸ’• If you read until here, thanks for the time (haha!).
