OHH I LOVE THIS, i think the general assumption would be zuko as crowley and sokka as aziraphale bc zuko was the "bad" one, but i think their personalities are more suited the other way around. and also that way zuko's arc would be more about his relationship to authority like in atla bc the angels are more of an authoritative figure than the demons. and sokka had to overcome a lot of prejudices he had in atla too, so it would be interesting to explore that from the perspective of him as a demon.

i don't wanna ramble on too much about this but i have Thoughts lol this is so fun to think about

Hey, blew! There's a fanficition series called Spirit Son by imadoctornotanescalator, it's on going and about 20+ chapters. It's a fanficition of actual blue spirit!zuko where zuko died and has merged with the real blue spirit. It's really well written and without too much spoilers is incredibly fleshed out with each chapter either being present day or before the spirit merging. It may be something that you like! 💞

i knew there would be some spirit zuko fics out there, thank u for reccing, altho my to-read list is like over 1 million words worth of fic rn so i have no idea when i might get around to reading it ;-;

so, team starkid (highly recommend them: been watching them since around 2010 and their music and shows are incredible) made a musical a few years back called the guy who didn't like musicals

and it's about this guy named paul who hates musicals and this alien meteorite crashes in their "tiny town of hatchetfield" which turns people into musical aliens and essentially is the apotheosis, right?

so then paul meets up with this "cute lil barista" that he has a crush on who also dislikes musicals (her name is emma hehe) and with his co workers charlotte, ted, and bill (bill my beloved)

and they're trying to survive the apotheosis and emma has this professor who is like a doomsday survivalist guy and has been preparing for the apocalypse for YEARS and his name is professor hidgens

and zuko is basically professor hidgens is what i'm saying

he has this musical number called "show stoppin' number" which is a bop and it's hidgens basically being like "i bet you didn't know that i'm also a composer and while i've been preparing for the apocalypse i've also been writing my own musical!" and he sits down and starts playing it and the musical is

"it's called working boys! a new musical! it's the story of a group of old college chums. sure, they found success in the business world, but still, they long for the simpler times... in that beat up old house at the edge of college campus... but those glory days, they're gone or good............ oR ARE THEY?"

and it's basically him singing about how he wants to see his college friends again but the way he says chad makes it seem like he wants to make out with him so instead of chad it's sokka and yEAH

zuko doesn't really like getting his picture taken. it doesn't even have much to do with the scar (though, admittedly, that doesn't help) - he never liked having his picture taken as a child.

sokka, on the other hand, likes to post on his snapchat or instagram story wherever he goes. he's always making katara or suki or aang take pictures of him, or taking selfies with his friends. he doesn't even necessarily post all of them - he just likes having them. (he likes knowing that he'll never have to worry about forgetting the face of someone he loses again, because he'll always have the pictures to remember them by)

when the two start dating, sokka tries to tone it down on how many pictures he takes, and he doesn't post many of zuko until zuko asks why he posts pictures of all his other friends but not him.

"because you don't like getting your picture taken. i figured you wouldn't want them posted."

zuko hesitates, and it's enough for sokka to know he somehow read the situation wrong.

"i can post more of you if you'd like," he offers. "i just didn't think you really cared for that sort of stuff."

"i don't," zuko says carefully. "and i don't really like getting my picture taken, but... i kind of like you letting everyone know we're dating." he lowers his voice and looks away. "i like knowing everyone knows i'm yours."

(sokka starts posting more pictures of zuko after that, because he likes everyone knowing zuko is his too, yes, but he also likes everyone knowing that he is zuko's.)

modern au hakoda and kya grow up near toronto, so they get pretty warm weather in the summers and they're used to it.

bato, however, grows up much farther north in canada and is in for a shock when he goes to toronto for college.

luckily, his roommate and his roommate's girlfriend (hakoda and kya respectively) help him learn how to deal with hot weather. even after he's adjusted to it somewhat, they still make sure they've always got extra water on them for bato and even when the weather gets cooler, they make a habit of going out for ice cream on friday afternoons

it's when the warm weather hits again in spring, on an unseasonably warm day in march when kya and hakoda both brought extra water for bato, knowing he would need it, that they all sort of end up in a jumbled confession about their feelings - bato that he likes both kya and hakoda and kya and hakoda that they both also like bato

zukka + pet store. 💞💞💞

i had about three separate headcanons for this one so i decided to put all of them

whenever sokka can’t find zuko, he goes to the pet store because zuko likes to sit in front of the fish tanks and stare at the fish (the employees know him already. they don’t know what to do about him). he doesnt really get why but when he sees zuko in a bad mood, he just asks him if he wants to go see the fish. engaging in your partner’s strange little behaviors is a love language

whenever they pass a pet store, sokka has to shield zuko’s eyes because they just..don’t have space for another cat since zuko used to take in strays and now they have three devils at home

for izumi’s birthday, they take her to the pet store to look for a cat or a dog. izumi doesn’t even look at them and immediately goes to where the snakes are and suddenly: druk 🐍. zuko has no issue with snakes since lu ten had a pet snake but sokka is paranoid for the first few weeks (and then one night, zuko walks into the living room to see sokka sleeping on the couch with druk over his shoulders)

whenever they go to the zoo, yue is always ahead because she gets so excited seeing the animals that she forgets about suki

they both like the aquarium area more because hello??? sharks forever baby!!!

they always end up spending a lot at the gift shops because they both love the stuffed animals and are immune to the penguin plushie™️ (yue pays for them. benefits of having a rich kid gf)

zukka (obviously): they are my number one. my everything. my sun and my moon and my stars. it's about being made to feel like you'll never be allowed to find love, and then finding it for yourself anyways. it's about always putting everyone else's happiness before your own and then learning how to make your own feelings a priority too. it's about the idiots to lovers and the red & blue gays and the sun & moon dynamic. it's about the this could never work and we're going to make this work because i love you and i can't imagine a future without you in it. it's about the infinite potential for both happy endings and angst. it's about the fact that i can never resist a ship in which their love language is petty bickering.

yuekka: how could i resist a "we can't be together" + tragic love affair ship? they're cute. and also sokka "i'm just a guy with a boomerang" "i'm nothing special" of the southern water tribe falling in love with the literal moon? and her loving him back because he is special and he is important? chef's kiss.

sukka: i prefer them as friends but i do think they're cute. the bi4bi m/f ship blueprint. and their scenes at serpents pass had me 🥰🥺 when i was first watching the show
