Day 13 - 18 September - Bar > Podgorica
We checked out and got a taxi to Bar station, and then took the train to Podgorica. We were staying in a flat that is very like our flat in London which was nice, it felt very familiar. We then went to lunch in the most highly rated place around, it was quite meat heavy and we ordered too much! We finished it all but it was tough and we had to go to the flat for a lie down after. We went for a quick walk around the old town but it seemed mostly residential so we went back to the downtown area. We have both been nursing colds and I went into a boots type shop for tissues. It was quite glam and had many different types of shampoo etc., including a whole shelf of Korean beauty products (we go a couple of face masks) but when I asked if they sold tissues there was a very definitive ‘no not here!’ I had had to take out the loo roll that was in my pocket that I had been using up to that point as a translation!
Tumblr media
At the flat we read for a bit I bought Her Side of the Story by Alba de Céspedes which seems like a real precursor to Elena Ferrante, I was hooked reading the sample on the train!
We then went to the post office and for a drink in this bar below a bridge (didn’t see any trolls since they seemed to have moved all their work online). We then went to one of the only restaurants in the old town for dinner, we only wanted something like but the salads we ordered were quite heavy. We went to the shop and bought some stuff for our long bus journey in the morning and went home.
We watched Mona Lisa smile on Netflix which was great, then went to bed, not the comfyist bed we have slept on and the pillow was very big and uncomfortable.
Where we ate - Pod valet, Lantern restaurant
What we liked - Pod valet was good but we had too much, Lantern was a lovely setting, I think our salads weren’t great but maybe we ordered wrong.
Day 14 - 19 September - Podgorica > Pristina
We work up early and went for a run which was really good particularly because we were about to spend all day on the bus. We packed, made our lunch and checked out. I bought a potato burek for breakfast and then got the 9am bus. This was the second international mini bus we have taken, and we both got single window seats on one side of the bus.
We got to the Albanian border quickly and got through pretty easily, no problems. The problems started like 25 mins later when the driver abruptly stopped and said that we needed to change bus. He didn’t really tell us when the new bus was coming, and spent most of the next 30 mins shouting on the phone. Eventually a big bus stopped and we all got on (including the driver, who started immediately being the assistant on this bus). The bus journey from then on was uneventful if a bit long, there was amazing scenery as usual and a stop at a very glam Albanian services.
We got to Pristina and walked into town from the bus. I think walking with the bag is the most weights training I have ever done! We checked into the flat and then went out for dinner. We had a lovely meal of salad, grilled veg, zucchini and cheese, and bread, which we needed after yesterday’s excess. With a big bottle of fizzy water it cost us 14 euro which was very good value! We are now just chilling in the flat and resting after a few days of travelling and moving.
Where we ate - Liburnia
What we liked - Liburnia was really nice but based on what you will find out in the next entry it is slightly taken the gloss off
Day 15 - 20 September - Pristina
Woke up to the terrible news that Nin was feeling really ill and couldn’t get out of bed. We had planned to do a 10am walking tour but that was missed. I went to get some medicine for heartburn from a chemist, which Nin said was absolutely disgusting (it was anise flavour).
She was feeling too ill o go out so I bravely ventured out without my rock. I got a burek from what seemed to be the highest rated place in Pristina, it was definitely not as nice as the place in Sarajevo but was pretty delish (i think its pretty hard to fuck burek up). I then went to an exhibition in a library that had multiple stories from the Kosovo war, all from a single day in May 1999. It was like some of the Sarajevo exhibitions, and no less grim and harrowing. It really is incredible the things that happened in Yugoslavia in the 90s, when you hear that there are tensions currently it is really easy to see why. What happened in Kosovo I would be able to remember had I been born there, and the scale of the violence is staggering. It takes serious courage to forgive in those situations. The poem ceasefire by Michael Longley (who i actually saw reading the poem a few weeks ago before I left) comes to mind.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After that I had a mental coffee, with whipped cream (id ordered a cappuccino) and went back to see Nina who was still feeling really ill, I brought her some plain bread from a bakery and hung out for a bit and then went to get some lunch, I listened to a few podcasts and had some pasta and a coffee. I then went to a few of the main mosques in the town which I had wanted to go to (they were busy in the morning with Friday prayers, but empty when I went) and also to the a museum of an old Turkish 18th century house which was short but very lovely, and i walked through the old market. I then went to catch the 4pm walking tour but the guy never appeared so I bought some stuff for Nina to have for dinner (soup and rice as per her request) and went back to the house.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Our washer/dryer had made our clothes very wrinkled so I did some very basic ironing, and made the soup and rice for Nina who by this point had diagnosed herself with food poisoning. After that I went out to this falafel place and had a ‘zesty wrap’. I wanted to have some Kosovar wine and went to a wine bar, but i decided not to go in as it was empty and I didn’t feel like going in alone, so went home and we went to bed really early (Nina was already in bed).
This was the most time I had spent way from Nina since we have left, in some ways it was nice to have a bit of time to myself, but it mainly just illustrated how much I like spending time with Nin and I was sad she was ill. It is a good thing that it happened in one of the places where there wasn’t loads to do. (She’s better now).
Where I ate - Furra Lumi, Bon Bouquet cafe and lounge, Baba Ganoush Meze
What I liked - Baba Ganoush was delish, the others were good too but the highlight was defo dinner

For the first time in 25 years, I LOVE my bed! I’ll never go back to foam or coil ever again. I’d consider an airbed if I couldn’t have a waterbed but never foam or coil. I wish I had thought to get one when we moved into our CH house.
We added more water and now it’s PERFECT! The sheets don’t bunch as much and it’s easier to change positions but still soft, like floating on a cloud. We both agreed not to add any more water because now they’re actually starting to look like tubes rather than these flat oblong things. There was hardly any room to burp the tubes before he closed them back up.
I didn’t realize it at the time but when I said they were 35 lb full, that was for a different brand and for tubes that run from side to side rather than from head to foot. These are about 50 or 60 pounds. The whole ensemble probably weighs about 400 pounds.
A new golf course was added; Venice, and it’s way cool. The course is very realistic and detailed and you can spend hours exploring every nook and cranny. We had fun riding the gondolas and going over and under bridges and whatnot. There were plenty of stores and cafes to browse through as well. Statues and waterfalls were scattered about.
The course itself is fun, too. The holes are challenging enough but not crazy challenging in any way like with the Lair series. Found half of the hidden balls so far but only a couple are pretty. Most of them are pretty dull-looking.
Back to being tired because I was up for 18 hours so I was glad my appointment was here at the house. The nurse called and asked if she could come by early. I said sure, and she arrived at 2:00. She was here for nearly an hour mostly asking me tons of questions. We went through my medical history and then she asked me short-term questions like if I’d recently experienced depression, anxiety, dizziness, fainting spells, etc. She took my blood pressure sitting down and standing up and of course it was high because it was one of those electronic cuffs I hate so much. She weighed me and listened to my heart and lungs and we went over my medications.
At one point we were talking about my ear and sleep disorder and it was funny because when I told her my ear was known as congenital “atresia” she looked it up on her phone and said all she was getting was alopecia. Lol, that’s because she was spelling it as atricia or something like that. I’m a little surprised she didn’t know how to spell it.
Not surprisingly, however, she’s never heard of the rare sleep disorder I have so I told her about it and she looked it up on her phone because we were talking about the two medications recently approved for it, one of which I won’t touch for fear of it causing the suicidal thoughts it can cause, and the one the insurance company won’t approve.
She said someone would call to discuss something called functional medicine. It’s funny too because she asked me to remember the words pen, light, and hamburger which I still remember yet twice she mentioned the name of this particular medicine and I couldn’t remember it till Tom did and told me what it was. He was sitting in the living room while we were in the kitchen, but he could hear everything.
I did tell her that my memory wasn’t what it used to be and even though it’s not a diagnostic tool, I took a quick online quiz last night that suggested I have mild dementia. I hope not! But it does run in my family. Anyway, the functional medicine people deal with things like sleep, menopause and hormonal issues. I told her I do have mild sleep apnea and a lot of fatigue. I don’t think it’s one culprit, though. The sleep disorder itself can cause fatigue since they always stress the importance of having a routine and a set schedule which I can’t have, of course. So sleep apnea, N24, and my age are all working against me.
We thought the funniest question she asked was if I ever had more than six drinks at once. Lol, I can’t imagine having more than two, and most of the time even that’s too much. When I drink it’s almost always just one glass of wine.
Another funny thing was that Tom was told that you know you’re getting old when you’re asked to draw a clock. She had me draw a clock with all its numbers and make hands saying it was 10 minutes after 11. He said this is to test to see if you’ve ever had a stroke. In one of the medical shows he watches, someone who had a stroke was asked to draw a clock and they put the first three numbers all on one side.
Anyway, we talked about past surgeries, and the fact that I’m up to date on mammograms and pap smears, and I also told her about the extensive heart testing I recently had.
She was very soft-spoken and the fucking dishwasher was running at the time. A part of me was tempted to jump up and open the door but I didn’t. I wouldn’t have run the thing if I knew she was going to come early. I was a little concerned there would be distracting barking and motorcycle revving but there wasn’t.
The only annoyance is up in the sky as usual. It’s been bad again with big planes, small planes, and helicopters. Can’t even go 5 or 10 minutes without hearing something up there so I run air cleaners or nature sounds to drown it out.
I don’t remember what I dreamed about last night but it seems the dreams were pretty neutral. Nothing good or bad. There’s no doubt that if I have nightmares, it’s a definite sign of trouble to come. If it wasn’t in such a bad way, I would be thrilled and feeling so gifted and lucky to be so psychic and have such a good accuracy rate but because this is anything but a gift, I definitely don’t feel lucky at all. All it does is prolong my misery, knowing something bad is coming and being unable to quit worrying and wondering what it might be until it happens.
She asked about living wills and DNRs, and we don’t care about wills since we don’t have any kids but I would still like to have a DNR on me. She said I could ask Rhonda about that. Yeah, I’m putting together a list of things to discuss with her when I see her in June. I told Tom that if I had Galileo still, I could get answers in minutes. “Yeah, you could get a different answer for the different doctors that responded,” he said.
He has a point there. That was the only thing I didn’t like about them.

From Basher to Believer
Tumblr media
I’d always been on the slender side from when I was a kid until I graduated from college. When I started working and adult life happened, my metabolism started to slow down. I had minimal movement and maximum exposure to all the food I could ever want in the world. When I turned 25, that was when gaining weight happened regularly for me, and family and friends began to notice. In hindsight, I wish I did something about it the first time it was called out, but of course, I dismissed the ‘harsh’ observations at the time, and I was probably in denial too.
By 28, I was officially overweight. This did not come as a surprise. However, I was also diagnosed with polycystic ovaries (PCOS), a hormonal disorder common among women of reproductive age. This condition was also a contributing factor to my rapid weight gain. My sugar was at a pre-diabetic level, and my cholesterol was sky-high. I started taking maintenance medicines for these – Metformin, Atorvastatin, and contraceptive pills. My OB kept saying these weren’t enough. I needed to exercise and stick to a healthy diet. I did not budge. Maybe it was a combination of stress at work, lack of time, and yes, laziness. I would rather sleep or hang out with friends than strain a muscle on my free time (which was not exactly abundant)—if you get my drift.
By 30, I was at 185 pounds and was diagnosed with obesity. In fact, dark spots suddenly appeared on my feet, as a result of “popped veins” because my feet could barely carry my weight. I would crash diet for several days and then resume eating unhealthily. I would also get nauseous from time to time because I also had anemia. The weakness and fatigue were palpable. People around me expressed concern more and more often. Some suggested that I go to the gym, but I silently sneered at the thought of ever going there. Because I didn’t know better then, I silently mocked those who would post workout photos, when in truth, they were worth emulating. They took care of themselves the best way they can, and not everyone had the will power to do so.
When I turned 33 and I got retrenched from my previous job at the height of the pandemic along with thousand others, I suddenly had too much time on my hands. All the books were read; all the errands were accomplished; all the chores were done. I guess I felt so sad and empty that buying a stationary bike online seemed like a good idea. That was the first thing I purchased from my separation pay. Side trivia: I never learned to ride a bike without the training wheels because my parents were overprotective when I was a child. At least now I could ride a bike without falling flat on my face. 😊
Tumblr media
It was probably around July 2020 when I started doing indoor cycling for about 20-30 minutes a day. On days that were extra dull and lonesome, I would pedal for an hour until I couldn’t feel my legs. That got me exhausted enough to sleep earlier at night. That was also the beginning of things changing for the better. I also decided to be more carefully aware on the kind of food I ate, but I never really excluded carbs and desserts. I still drink milktea as much as I’d like—but with lower sugar level.
By the end of 2020, I was able to lose 28 pounds, then 35, then 45 in the ensuing year. Whenever I’d get bored with cycling, I would search for easy home exercises on Youtube. I bought an exercise mat (which is quite tattered now), and I also did Zumba. I highly recommend MadFit! I didn’t do crazy-hard exercise routines that I knew I wouldn’t enjoy. I wanted to move, but I also wanted to keep it fun. I also chose the music that best resonated with my soul while exercising. The amazing thing was, I just didn’t feel lighter on the outside—I also felt lighter inside.
Several months after I got hired by Accenture, I decided to enroll at Anytime Fitness, so I could still exercise on some nights after work. I’ve never been happier to realize just how wrong and ignorant I was back then about people who went to the gym. It was a slap on the face for the judgmental person I used to be. Devoting time at the gym was not easy at all. I’d get lazy every now and then, and I'd bail, but whenever I did go, I felt physically (and even emotionally) better.
These days, my weight has gone on plateau, but the important thing is to keep moving—no matter how minimal. I have to admit, there are days I feel sheer frustration when I see that I’m gaining some pounds again, but I proactively remind myself that I’ve come a long way, and that’s enough. I’m still a work-in-progress, and I just want to embrace this journey, wherever it may lead me. It also makes me happy being able to fit in my old clothes again. A small win is still a win, and slow progress is still progress.
So to conclude this rather long story, and if you’re still reading at this point (thank you), I guess here are the “best learnings” I can share:
Something always seems impossible, until it isn’t. It’s hard to start, but all worthwhile things have to start somewhere.
Go at your own pace. Rushing to meet your goal will only birth frustration.
Don’t keep checking the weighing scale. The more important thing to check is how your body feels. The body never lies.
In losing weight, you also begin to realize you’re losing the weight of other people’s opinions that never really mattered. You do you.
It’s not always a bad thing to remember the past. Looking back reminds you of how far you’ve come. The first person who should be proud of yourself is you!
“And I said to my body, softly, ‘I want to be your friend.’ It took a long breath, and replied, ‘I have been waiting my whole life for this.’” ~ Nayyirah Waheed

The sweet 20s
- Nowadays you usually find Pansy sitting in front of a window in her little modern apartment watching the rain as her memories crashed like a movie in her head.
- Pansy told her family she was homosexual after reuniting with them, they’ve never talked to her since. At the age of 33, she got married to Susan Bones and taking her last name, Pansy Bones.
- Blaise just sleeps all day or tries to. It’s hard with all the nightmares he’s having.
- At this point, alcohol and smoking have become a coping mechanism for Theo. He doesn’t know better.
- Draco sold the mansion (it caused him too much depression and were a place with dark memories) and began studying muggle medicine.
- Harry watches the big city of London in the distance. He hears a police car approaching near him as the rain pours down on him and he can finally feel alive.
- “I like muggles better, they don’t know mine nor my family’s history,” Draco says when asked why he left the wizarding world. Ashamed of himself and his family.
- “They just see me as Harry, not the boy who lived” Harry answers to the same question because sometimes he just wants to be Harry, just Harry.
(- Hermione and Ron are in a happy relationship and lives together in a flat in the middle of London with three cats)
- On a simple mattress, squashed between Draco’s dresser and the wall you can find Harry sleeping when he just can’t stand the loneliness of not sharing a room.
- Sometimes they’re found collapsed on Draco’s sofa together.
- Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy reported missing. In disguise, they travel all around Britain as well as the USA. They were never caught.
- Draco was presumed dead because of his disappearance happening shortly after a failed suicide attempt a month earlier.
- They never stopped looking for Harry.
- Harry’s friends and family tried to reach him through social media and so did Draco’s although they stopped trying after a while.
- Harry posts something on his official Instagram account, a year after his disappearance saying “We’re still alive y’all.” with a picture of Draco smiling really big while reading a book, Harry leaning his head on his shoulder.
- Shortly after Draco’s account goes online as well, showing Harry feeding a cat on the street, saying: “We’re safely back in England if that wasn’t obvious” as a response to Harry’s post.
- Shortly after they were revealed to have escaped reality to the USA under presumed names to find themselves again and for Draco to recover backstage rather than in the spotlight. “There was no forcing and both of us did this because we wanted to and not because we felt pressured to,” Harry said to the press.
- Videos of Harry reuniting with Hermione and Ron went viral, even to the muggles.
- Draco cries and hugs Pansy so tight when they meet again. (Same with his mum)
- Then Draco and Pansy were invited to a Weasley Christmas. Ginny, Ron and Pansy posted on their Instagram stories about Harry and Draco cuddling on the sofa.
- Soon Harry was wearing Draco’s clothes (sweater and soon sweatpants) to bed and around the apartment.
- Draco making funny faces while wearing Harry’s glasses that soon escalates to a laugh goes viral on his Instagram.
- Their first kiss was were cliché, they kissed under a street lamp when it rained and was Harry who kissed Draco first.
- Draco got done studying muggle medicine and became a doctor, Harry became an English teacher for high school kids.
- They really weren’t a part of the wizarding community at the age of 25 but they were still well known there, they still had their wands. But they were also known in the muggle world. As those couple of teenagers that disappeared and reappeared like nothing happened a year later to develop a lovely love story.
- Harry proposed to Draco in the exact spot as they had their first kiss, in the rain. (He said yes)
- With new wizard technologies, they were able to get kids together. (They got a girl first and then a boy, they were in need of a surrogate mother to do that and Pansy’s like “make me godmother and I’ll do it” and so she does it and they make her the godmother)

Pain O Soma 350 Mg Tablet Is the Best Muscle Relaxers Pill
‘Carisoprodol’ is the chief ingredient of Pain o soma 350 which is a ‘Muscle-Relaxant’ medication. Typically, it proves to be effective in treating certain  muscle-related conditions as well as in providing relief from pain.
In terms of mechanism of action this medicine acts similarly to benzodiazepines. Doing so by converting carbamate derivative Meprobamate.  Usually, you take this medicine through the mouth via the oral route of administration. Although, it was in 2017 that pain o soma 350 mg became unavailable in the market in Europe.
Here is then presenting to you this article explaining why pain o soma 350 mg is one the best muscle relaxers available that you can take.
Effectiveness of pain o soma 350
When you take a dose of Pain o soma 350 the ‘Carisoprodol’ it works to relieve pain or relax muscle using the following mechanism of action.
Exertion of the GABAergic Effects
When you take this medicine the Carisoprodol in it functions by enhancing activity of a neurotransmitter called gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the CNS.  Also, the GABA is a neurotransmitter that helps in the regulation of brain activity. Which finally results in an increase in calming and sedative effects. Increase in GABAergic activity is what will trigger carisoprodol to exert effects of relaxation and sedation.
Centrally acting muscle relaxant Effects:
Typically, when you take a dose of pain o soma 350 mg the Carisoprodol mainly acts on the central nervous system (CNS). It essentially acts by altering the way the brain perceives pain and reducing the signals of pain from the muscles to the brain.

How Aspadol 100mg Can Help You Manage Pain Better?
When you take an aspadol 100 mg tablet it essentially exerts its effects to help manage mild-to-moderate pain. It contains Tapentadol as its chief ingredient. Besides, when you take an aspadol tablet dosage is available in the extended release form specifically for around-the-clock pain management.
On taking aspadol 100 this medicine works by exerting ‘Analgesic’ effects within about thirty minutes of taking it via oral route of administration. With it lasting for about four to six hours.
Also, you need to know that Tapentadol was for the first time approved officially for clinical use by the United States of America (USA) Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Hence here is presenting to you this article explaining how taking aspadol 100 mg can help you acquire aspadol tab benefits in an effective manner.
Tumblr media
Aspadol Tab 100mg and Its Dual Mechanism:
Typically, when you take aspadol tablet dosage the Tapentadol in it works dually. As a mu-opioid receptor agonist and simultaneously as norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor.
It means that it affects your pain perception in two ways. Firstly, by binding to opioid receptors in the brain. Finally, it also attaches itself to the spinal cord. Thereby increasing the levels of norepinephrine, a neurotransmitter that can help modulate pain signals.
Effectiveness of This Pain Relief Medicine:
Usually, it is when you are suffering from mild-to-moderate pain that you take aspadol 100. These will mainly include chronic pain medical conditions like postoperative pain, neuropathic pain, musculoskeletal pain, and cancer related pain.
Use of This Pain Medication and Its Connection With Sedation:
When you take a dose of aspadol 100 mg it tends to cause less drowsiness as compared to other opioid pain medications. However, you must also note that this medicine is potentially suitable for people looking to get quick effective relief from pain. While also intending to stay alert.
Aspadol Tablet Dosage Adjustment Possible:
One of the several aspadol tab benefits is that you can adjust aspadol tablet dosage. Which will essentially depend on the patient’s toleration levels and severity of the pain. It means you can use this medicine at various dosage strengths or formulations.
Use of This Pain Medicine in Efficient Management of Neuropathic Pain:
Typically, you can take a dose of aspadol 100 mg in the treatment of neuropathic pain symptoms. Which is mainly caused by the serious damage of the nervous system.
Therefore, it is in the treatment of medical conditions such as diabetic neuropathy and post-herpetic neuralgia. That you can use aspadol 100 to treat it.
Why is Aspadol 100 mg So Effective in Managing Mild-To-Moderate Pain?
Finally, in conclusion it is fair to say that an aspadol tablet dosage essentially proves to be very efficient in managing moderate to severe pain, especially neuropathic pain.
This is mainly due to its dual mechanism of action and its potential for triggering less side-effects as compared to other pain medicines. Moreover, you need to ensure that by taking an aspadol 100 mg dose you are monitoring it well. Along with your doctor or healthcare professional.
So, if you are looking to buy aspadol online of high-quality and at an affordable aspadol 100mg price then you need to click the link.
In case you are seeking to buy aspadol and other generic medications at a flat discount of $25 along with ‘FREE SHIPPING’ then, you need to visit our ‘E-Store’ today.

The Promises I Made (2019 Edition)
For the past thirteen years, I’ve spent every New Year’s Eve compiling a list of fifty promises I intend to keep or fulfill over the next twelve months. The results have been truly amazing, and I have kept some promises I never thought I could. 2019 was… a nightmare that I can barely believe I survived, but I still kept some promises that I honestly did not expect I ever could.
This year, for New Year’s, there will be a new set of promises for to me keep, but here are the old ones, for review!
The Promises I Made (2019 Edition)
1) Be more proactive about tracking and following up with struggling students to decrease the number of students who drop from my class when they realize they cannot pass. Status: Somewhat broken? I tried really hard to be proactive with my students; however, there were some massive issues outside the classroom this year that made it extremely difficult to keep the focus on the students. When administration drags your attention away from the class, there is not a lot you can do…
2) Find a place to put in volunteer hours because uhhhh like this is actually important to my work evaluation and I definitely need something to write in that section… Yikes, this spring is my last chance to do this!! @_@ Status: Kept. I volunteered with the Utah Shakespeare Festival and it was super fun!
3) Install the fire escape window in the Utah house, no matter how much it might cost, because I can’t get a totally unrelated tenant in that basement without said window… Status: Somewhat kept. Okay. This one is a LONG story, but to be fair to me, I worked my ASS off to try and make this happen; just every single thing in the world prevented me from completing this promise, up to and including the city telling me I needed a permit AFTER I had already dug a massive hole in the ground for the window…
4) Buy sod to add grass to the front portion of the lawn so that it no longer looks like garbage. Status: Broken, but I did buy grass seed and put that out there. Unfortunately only some of it sprouted, but there is indeed SOME grass now growing there…
5) Fix the bricks near the windowsills on the Utah house to prevent long-term damage. Status: Broken. After dealing with the stupid window disaster, I had no time for this at all.
6) Get a watering system for my roses at the Utah house because I think my bro is probably killing them and that’s just not cool. Status: Broken, see above.
7) Work on the patio at the Utah house before it just flat out falls down. Status: Somewhat broken. Again, I tried to make progress on this—I called a patio guy to come out and assess how much it would cost to fix the patio—but the price I was quoted was so high that there was nothing I could do at the time.
8) Paint the stairwell so that there’s no chance of anything like lead paint or asbestos being exposed. Status: Broken. The leftover wallpaper glue continues to confound me…
9) Trim the backyard bushes so the neighbors don’t hate us anymore… Status: Broken. We trimmed a few bushes and at least got to the trees out front, but definitely a majority were left uncared for.
10) Move into a new house in Texas where I can get real internet, please for the love of god… Status: Kept. I moved into a very nice house with no scorpions!
11) Save money for my upcoming trip to Japan! 2020 baby! Status: Uhhh, broken. I’m not sure how I thought I’d be able to move into a new house AND save money for an international trip at the same time…
12) Get my wisdom tooth removed because it’s still there and still killing me, yikessss. Status: Broken. AUGH. I’m an idiot.
13) Make an appointment with an eye doctor for like the first time in years. Good job, Yehn, good job. Status: Kept. I got my glasses fixed and even got a new pair of glasses too!
14) Get my prescriptions refilled because I’m dwindling on asthma medicine and like… I could die from this… I should never have been left to care for myself; I’m not mature enough for this responsibility… Status: Kept, surprisingly. But I still need a new doctor because the last one I was going to wouldn’t give me any refills…
15) FINISH THE GIVEAWAY PRIZES I PROMISED LAST YEAR because holy shit I am incompetent and the worst and everyone has permission to hate me for starting things and never finishing them, fuck. Status: Broken. So broken. I am the worst.
16) Go dolphin watching in the Gulf for real this time. Seriously, it’s $10 Yehn, you can do this. Status: Kept, amazingly. It wasn’t as impressed as hoped; however, there was a lovely sunset.
17) Return to the Channel Islands to take better pictures. D; Status: Broken. T_T
18) Level all my classes to 70 in FFXIV before next expansion, please. Status: Somewhat broken. I didn’t have everything to 70 before the expansion, but I kind of feel like I should get credit for this one, because HEY, look at me now:
Tumblr media
19) Organize and properly label all the photos on my computer so that I’m no longer desperately combing through folder and folder in blank confusion, looking for a single picture in a sea of thousands… Status: Kept. It took me like eight hours of work, but I actually did this.
20) Update Home and a Half more than once? PLEASE??? The guilt I feel over this currently is crushing. Status: Broken. And the guilt grows…
21) Complete the online American Literature class I am designing on time and with no corrections needed. Status: Kept. I’m counting this as kept even though TECHNICALLY there was one thing I forgot to finish and it came back and bit me in the ass; however, I was approved with no corrections needed.
22) Earn 100% completion for Kingdom Hearts III. So excited! Status: Broken. Um… This just didn’t happen.
23) Update my calendar with important dates—holidays, birthdays, etc.—and be productive about sending cards and well-wishes. Status: Somewhat kept. I wasn’t any better about sending cards really, but I did at least save all the birthdays in my phone so I remember them.
24) Get the garbage disposal in the Texas house fixed ASAP so I don’t have to wash the dishes by hand anymore because I absolutely hate that particular chore. Status: Kept. Then I moved, so it didn’t even matter.
25) Finish all the books my coworkers and friends bought for me recently so I can thank them for their recommendations! Status: Broken. So broken.
26) Actually move into my new place instead of leaving it completely undecorated and lifeless. Status: Remarkably, kept. Nothing has plastic on it, unlike at my old house where the nightstand didn’t get unwrapped even after two years of living there lol.
27) Try hard to get Creative Writing into a different area of the general ed. core so that more people will enroll in it. Status: Kept. I’m counting this because I did my darn best, but we are still waiting on the state to tell us whether or not the class will be accepted.
28) Get caught up on my Ebird reports, even the old, old, old ones I never put in because I was slacking. Status: Kept, actually. Whoo.
29) Throw away/return/sort all the stacks of old mail in the house (OMGGGG they’ve made me look like paper hoarder and I’m nootttt). Status: Broken. There’s just… a lot of papers to go through…
30) Clean up the garage before moving so that I don’t have to fight spiders to move when the time comes. Status: Broken, in that I did not clean up the garage in advance and did, in fact, have to fight spiders when it came time to move.
31) Find a way to boost grading productivity so that each class takes only two days to grade, maximum. Status: Somewhat kept. I was definitely better this year than last year; however, I really think the “two days per class” thing was too optimistic, so for the future semester, I allotted myself three days per class and I think it will work better.
32) Go to a totally new restaurant and try their food. Status: Kept. We went to a Mexican restaurant and I had trompo tacos (al pastor) which is probably not anything special to anyone else but it was my first time so lol.
33) Cancel old credit cards to make sure my credit is good before trying to buy a house (although I just checked my credit score and I’m in the great range already, so this is mostly for posterity’s sake). Status: Broken. But it didn’t affect my loan, so I guess it was okay. And it ended up being good I didn’t cancel my Best Buy card because I was able to get good financing on the new appliances I needed for my house.
34) Get official contracts from my tenants so I can use my rental income in my next loan calculation. Status: Broken, but I ended up not using that as part of the loan calculation anyway >_> so…
35) Talk to an HR rep about my retirement savings so that I can consolidate all my retirement accounts into one. (Man, look at all these ADULTING promises.) Status: Broken. Look at me failing all these adulting promises.
36) Really finish decorating my office so it looks super cute and all my students want to visit me. Status: Broken, but I think it sucks that I have to write this because it was really not my fault I couldn’t finish decorating my office. Our offices were all moved and disrupted by building remodels so I spent the entire year basically working out of a couple cardboard boxes.
37) Not sign up for ANY more new responsibilities at work in the spring semester. This is the biggest challenge. D; Status: Kept, by technicality. I was able to avoid signing up for anything new in SPRING… But fall… was a whole other story. XD
38) Migrate all the rest of my books to the new Texas house instead of leaving them in Utah… SOMEHOW. Status: Kept. I’m going to count this as kept. The only books left at the Utah house are my manga—I managed to bring literally every other book, which is very impressive considering I had only my small Camaro with its tiny truck space.
39) Use my twitter account more often to make it worth following. I will try!! Status: Kept… sorta? I mean, since I didn’t use the account AT ALL before, making even one Twitter post kind of counts as using it more, right? >_>
40) Keep my hair cut nicely so I look less like a mess (than I really am). Status: Somewhat broken. Although I think I got my hair cut more often this year than before, I don’t think I looked any less like a mess. XD
41) Successfully find a bridesmaid dress for my friend’s wedding that matches the rest of the wedding party. Status: Actually kept! It was incredible. The wedding I was in was even featured in a magazine because of how pretty it was!
42) Make sure my skin is in good condition for the wedding so I don’t look like a disturbing ghost… Status: Kept? I mean, in the end, looking like a ghost ended up being the whole point since it was a Halloween themed wedding so I kind of won either way.
43) Complete my BNHA manga collection. Since my bro bought me a bunch of the volumes for Christmas, I might as well. Status: Broken… I bought like… one volume. XD
44) See a groove-billed ani. (It’s another type of bird.) Status: Broken. Very illusive bird. T_T
45) Respond to messages, asks, and comments more quickly. I promise I’m not ignoring people… D; Status: Um, broken. I left many people on read this year, sorry.
46) Lose ten pounds so that I feel more fit and comfy. Status: Broken. I didn’t exercise at all this year, uff.
47) Pay down credit card debt by at least 1/3. Yikesssss, I really need to do this quick. Status: Broken. It’s hard to pay down a credit card when you pour all your money into buying a new house…
48) I will finally fucking finish that chapter 73 analysis of Noragami… I swear to god… Status: Broken. Uh yeah. This didn’t happen. V_V
49) Reach 1700 followers on Tumblr. You should follow me—I’m only marginally a waste of time and space! Status: Kept. Over 2500 followers now!
50) I will keep these promises. LOLLLLL. Status: Somewhat kept/somewhat broken. One year I really will keep them all…
Totals Kept promises: 18 Broken promises: 24 Somewhat kept/broken promises: 8
Well, there are more kept promises than last year at least… It was another really hard year, what with moving in the middle of the year, over-working, dealing with so much drama with the reaccreditation on our campus, and just EVERYTHING all at once this last year… I keep thinking things are going to calm down and then they never do. Please 2020… just let me rest…
My new set of promises will be up on the 1st!
