It is unknown just where exactly this highly detailed and beautifully embroidered early Jacobean-style jacket originated. While it is possible that it was made for 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑵𝒆𝒘 𝑾𝒐𝒓𝒍𝒅, where it was first seen in 2005 on Q’orianka Kilcher as Pocahontas, most of the gowns from that film were recycled from earlier films such as 𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒌𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝑰𝒏 𝑳𝒐𝒗𝒆 or 𝑬𝒍𝒊𝒛𝒂𝒃𝒆𝒕𝒉. The jacket is seen again in the opening credits of the Showtime series 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑻𝒖𝒅𝒐𝒓𝒔, most likely on Natalie Dormer as Anne Boleyn, though her face is not shown when we see the jacket. In 2007 it was used on an extra in 𝑬𝒍𝒊𝒛𝒂𝒃𝒆𝒕𝒉: 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑮𝒐𝒍𝒅𝒆𝒏 𝑨𝒈𝒆. In 2008, it was seen on Esther Nubiola as Diane de Monsoreau in the film 𝑳𝒂 𝒅𝒂𝒎𝒆 𝒅𝒆 𝑴𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒐𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒖, and then again in 2013 on Pénélope Leveque as Mary Livingstone in 𝑴𝒂𝒓𝒚, 𝑸𝒖𝒆𝒆𝒏 𝒐𝒇 𝑺𝒄𝒐𝒕𝒔. In 2014, the costume was seen on Alice Sanders as Fleur Baudin in the television show 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑴𝒖𝒔𝒌𝒆𝒕𝒆𝒆𝒓𝒔. In 2015 it made its second appearance in 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑴𝒖𝒔𝒌𝒆𝒕𝒆𝒆𝒓𝒔, where it was spotted on Marianne Oldham as Catherine. While it is possible that it was made for The New World, where it was first seen in 2005 on Q'orianka Kilcher as Pocahontas, most of the gowns from that film were recycled from earlier films such as Shakespeare In Love or Elizabeth.

The jacket is seen again in the opening credits of Showtime series The Tudors, most likely on Natalie Dormer as Anne Boleyn, though her face is not shown when we see the jacket. In 2007 it was used on an extra in Elizabeth: The Golden Age.  In 2008, it was seen on Esther Nubiola as Diane de Monsoreau in the film La dame de Monsoreau, and then again in 2013 on Pénélope Levequeas Mary Livingstone in Mary, Queen of Scots.  In 2014, the costume was seen on Alice Sanders as Fleur Baudin in the television show The Musketeers. In 2015 it made its second appearance in The Musketeers, where it was spotted on Marianne Oldham as Catherine. Most recently it was seen on Naomi Battrick as Jocelyn in the BBC series Jamestown.

Jackets like these can often be seen in portraits from the time period, and several of them still exist today.  A portrait of Dorothy Cary, Viscountess Rochford shows an excellent example and an extant jacket in the collection at The Fashion Museum in Bath. is remarkably similar to the costume above, right down to the pink ribbons.

Fleur ran as fast as she could, hitching up her skirts in one hand, ducking under awnings, cutting across the paths of many an irate carriage driver, until she could finally see the Musketeers' garrison looming ahead. Her panting had evolved into a sharp pain in her side that grew with every breath that she took, but she couldn't afford to rest; Constance's pains had started so suddenly, and she had already waited too long--

"d'Artagnan! Monsieur d'Artagnan!" she called breathlessly, stumbling into the practice yard. Thankfully, d'Artagnan was only at the mess table; he stood up at the sight of her, frowning.

"Constance is in labour," Fleur said, "and she's asking for you now."

d'Artagnan paled, looking stricken and elated all at once, and opened his mouth to speak--but seemed quite unable to find the words. It was Porthos who finally clapped a hand on d'Artagnan's shoulder, said, "He'll be there right away," and called for a horse.

By nature Fleur’s a sunny girl, but when something happensthat truly thrills her she simply cannot keep it bottled up. Her mother clicksher tongue when Fleur shows her joy too readily, dubbing such things dangerousdisplays of emotion; her father, funnily enough, appears to be coming around.Fleur squealed, the first time Therese came to her and told her that there wasa place where they could finally learn like any other man or woman in France.The first time Ninon de Larroque read her poetry with one of her wry, indecipherablesmiles and said – in front of all the ladies in her salon! – that she had rawand fluid talent, Fleur had to press her face into a pillow to stifle her giggles.When her father told her that she didn’t have to marry yet she laughed untilshe cried. But the happiest moment of her life so far is when d’Artagnanpresents her with a set of the works of François Rabelais, toserve as inspiration for her continued studies. She hugs the musketeer so tightlyhe nearly faints.

Fleur’s never had a proper friend. Her friendships gothrough ebbs and flows, brief moments of joy followed by the inevitable nervesthat she’s not enough – that she’s too loud, too awkward, that her jokes arefunny only to herself, that the other girls tolerate her just for the sake ofpity. She laughs a little too loudly, and her mother’s eyes tense; she asksdifficult questions at dinner and her father’s cousin frowns beneath thosebeetle brows of his. It’s a difficult age for any young woman, let alone onewho has so many questions. The othergirls on her street are nice enough, and she’d never say anything against them,but she just wants more than whatthey seem to settle for. Therese was sweet but distant, and of course she couldno more speak to Ninon de Larroque than touch the mon. And honestly, Constancehas always been lovely to her, but it’s difficult to be friends with someone who seems so high above you – so strong, sosmart, so kind, so altogether together.Fleur’s never truly believed that her cousin-in-law has ever seen her asanything other than a child to be cared for out of duty; never believed it waspossible for someone so strong to think of her as anything but. At least, not until Fleur remembers that she left her shawl atthe Bonacieux residence, runs over to fetch it and walks in on her cousin’swife and her handsome soldier lodger in…the most polite way of saying it is astate of dishabille. After that it’s a bit easier to see Constance as human like the rest of us.
