Liquigen is like a beautiful woman who seems too perfect to be true at first but then feigns death whenever a conversation starts to bore her (crashes in the middle of simulation)
Still better than Realflow, which was more like a very high maintenance himbo who claims he isn't on Grindr but then refuses to speak to you when the internet is down (won't start without dialing home for DRM purposes)
Blender also has a fluid simulator, but they're holding a knife and staring at the wall so maybe it's safer to leave them alone no matter how pretty they are

This video showcases my third attempt at generating a vortex street behind a NACA 4-digit airfoil. The airfoil is pitched to a nose-up orientation, corresponding to an Angle of Attack (AoA) of 30 degrees. For this iteration, I have improved the rendering of particles by using sprites, making them visually more smooth.

Space goop Experiments
There are going to be a lot of technical challenges with this project, so I'm tackling a few of them now to make the animation process less laborious later. Up first is the titular jar of cosmos, or more specifically the viscous, galaxy-colored liquid therein. I was able to get what I needed from Blender's fluid sim for the liquid space, but not so much the stars. My first pass with materials came out a little janky:

Then I tried assigning an emissive material to the fluid particles, and got this odd (but twinkly!) result:

Unfortunately, I can't control that twinkling. I believe it has to do with blender recalculating the fluid sim particles every frame, and hence messing up my Random output from the Particle Info node >:( Here are a couple simulations I tried (the red particles would show up as stars):

All of these look cool in their own way, but none approximate a star field. For now, I managed to get passible material stars, but more than likely I will either jerry-rig something through compositing or figure out how to combine the fluid sim with a separate particle system so the stars look like they're coming from inside the space goop.

Stunning Interstellar Turbulence
Tumblr media
The space between stars, known as the interstellar medium, may be sparse, but it is far from empty. Gas, dust, and plasma in this region forms compressible magnetized turbulence, with some pockets moving supersonically and others moving slower than sound.聽 (Image and research credit: J. Beattie et al.; via Gizmodo) Read the full article

(Listening straight-faced to my bi-weekly ttrpg fiction podcast as a live human being slowly gets deformed and contorted into a book made of flesh) Ohhh I get it her spine becomes the spine of the book haha how clever.

This video showcases my second attempt at generating a vortex street behind a NACA 4-digit airfoil. The airfoil is pitched to a nose-up orientation, corresponding to an Angle of Attack (AoA) of 30 degrees. For this iteration, I have used a higher value of 'max camber' variable for a more pronounced vortex shedding simulation.

Sillier idea I had; low-poly digitized floret having to get her edges and corners smoothed out so she doesn't give her high-poly pinnate any digital papercuts. It doesn't detract from the look she's going for, so it's arguably just a bit safer overall!
And, uh... the fact that she's suddenly so realistically modelled between her legs is just a coincidence, right? She almost remembers having a flat texture down there that used to change in response to pleasure between "wet" and "dry" variants, but...

How it starts

How it ends
Tumblr media
Somewhere in between: KERSPLOOSH :D
It's 180 frames of animation and each frame is taking 1-2 minutes, so since I don't feel like staying up that late I'm gonna let it run, write some fanfic for a bit, and go to bed. I'll put it all together tomorrow :)
