Davenport canonically says he's been teaching Barry to fly the Starblaster (as early as Cycle 17, a.k.a. Episode 61), and even trusts Barry enough to leave him solely in charge of the ship, specifically when the whole rest of the crew is literally diving into a flooded city with no idea what they'll find beneath, i.e., could easily all just fucking die. this was before the Hunger really Got Good, so to speak, at singling out and attacking the Starblaster, or catching the crew unawares, but regardless, I would like to propose...
Barry's fucking great at piloting the ship, especially relative to his amount of practice... and he fucking hates it. Barry's not Dav-level good, not by a long shot, but he's naturally talented as hell by the standards of people who aren't first-name-Captain, last-name-Davenport. except... Cap, you gotta understand... flying the ship is scary. flying the ship away from the Hunger singlehandedly is so scary. and flying the ship under technically lower stakes, but while his Captain and friends are there watching him? and able to be disappointed in him if he messes up? is so so so scary. the scariest thing of all, somehow.
Davenport trains Barry, Lup, and Magnus in piloting semi-simultaneously, so he gets them to compete with each others' times for flying around the robot planet, and Barry always absolutely crushes it, and then has to go breathe into a paper bag afterwards. he had enough anxiety driving through roundabouts with other people in his car to judge him back while he was on his home plane. he was the kind of guy to worry that people would think less of him if he slipped into always-goddamn-tempting road rage, or if he used his signal like a fucking nerd. upgrading from a car to a spaceship was never going to be for him.

Tribe a day except I forgot to post yesterday?
This one is just a simple skywing run cause I thought it’d be pretty cool to draw how I thing each tribe runs different!
Edit:
[ID: a sketchy animation of a Skywing from Wings of Fire running, referenced to a cheetah. Its large wings remain semi-folded but upright to let air go both over and under as it runs. The art is done with messy red lines on a pinkish background and the 6 frames are numbered. End ID]

Wait, so if modifications like being a seeker don't come naturally, how does getting those modifications increase lifespan? Are there bots that have an affinity for those mods that just happen to have longer lifespans on average? Something about energy usage? Curious.
Oh, it doesn't increase lifespan it decreases lifespan often by more than half.
cybertronians have two main factors that determine their lifespan frame functionality and their spark energy. Cybertronian frames are tough and last longer than any human technology ever could, but that doesn't mean they don't need repairs and Maintenance, especially with how harsh Cybertron's environment is. This is why the average lifespan is so different from the max. With the war and slowly dying planet, their not enough medics or resources for repairs to go around, and many more ways to get grievously injured or die.
As for sparks, sparks have a finite amount of energy. Most sparks will last around 100 thousand years, maybe a little more, maybe a little less. Anything above 125 thousand is some kind of outlier or a non-standard cybertronian. Once a spark has burned out, its essence will return to the Allspark, where it has a chance to re-emerge again into a new frame with no memories of any of their past lives. Returning to the Allspark is kinda like a recharge for sparks.
Lifespan does have a link to energy usage since a spark energy is finite. Bots that have powerful abilities that use spark energy or use weapons add-ons that pull from spark energy often have slightly shorter lifespans because of this. Seekers' lifespans are often shorter because it takes extra energy from the spark for them to function, shortening their overall lifespan along with the modification, making them more prone to frame failure. They are remade for war, not a life after war. Theirs a reason why autobots don't usually fly, well at least not in robot mode.

PROPAGANDA
Wheeljack:
he blows things up everyday. should be staff at jurassic park considering HE MADE DINOSAUR WAR MACHINES (i.e the dinobots) that are also his sons, he literally bypassed the lore of nature and built giant robot invincible dinosaurs THAT ALSO BREATHE FIRE. mad mechanic not just scientist.
Kyo Ethnina:
Also called the "Book Hero", he is anything but heroic: a massive egomaniac with a giant laboratory.
Raboniel:
One time she tried to create a disease that would kill all humans, and she released it knowing it would kill her own species as well (it didn't really work, but it's the thought that counts) She was successful in helping create an extremely powerful weapon that can kill immortal beings.
Iknik Blackstone Varrick:
Both a mad scientist and eccentric entrepreneur rolled into one. Completely lacking in morals, this guy had company built the local prison and pre-installed a luxurious prison cell just for him, since he figured he'd probably be arrested eventually. Ends up switching to the good side near the end of the final season, but only after spending most of it as the head of the main villain's research department.
Christopher LIghtwood:
If he's not with his friends he's in a lab. He made explosives that blew up his school at age 12, leaving a hole in the building named the 'Christopher Lightwood Chasm'. He aims to help others with his creations but he can't be left unattended for too long or accidents happen
Angela:
i am Not Sure if she counts because she us tecnically a witch/magic user but I believe she is definetly the medieval fantasy equivalent of a mad scientist! because -she is an apothecary/someone with scientific knowledge on plants and medicine -she is a huge force of chaos, a trickster if you will -she does Not follow rules. not any of them -she had a traditional education where a wise scolar taught her magic as well as presumably scientific knowledge -she is regarded as pretty insane by the people around her -she is a wielder of strange and fascinating objects and companion of strange and fascinating creatures
Dr Seth Brundle:
The scientist who's teleporter experiment turned him into a horrible fly monster (An early test also resulted in a baboon dying painfully) Also played Jeff Goldblum.

Saphira: “You can thank Brom for the saddle.”
Eragon was one of those movies I was exposed to before I knew anything about the books. Of course, after the backlash the movie received (typical) I decided to go ahead and read the books too.
Of course, the books were better. They always are. Books explain things more in depth and also fill in the gaps with information movie media is limited to (usually because of budget)
I enjoyed Saphira’s design in the movie. I enjoyed the movie. Had I not seen it, I wouldn’t have known anything about the books.
I enjoyed working on this piece. There were so many different things I played around with, especially with the textured brushes in CSP.
I hope you like it!
