I've been on Tumblr now for over 1 year. 🎉 I thought it might be time to (re)introduce myself and how I've been handling this account.

My name is Layla. I'm almost 42 years old. ♑☀️♒🌙♓⬆️ I just started a personal Tumblr that you're welcome to follow if you want to learn more about me. @trauma-tits (Named after my weekly newsletter. I write a few other places on the internet too.)

Animal Crossing New Horizons is the only Animal Crossing game I've played. I love it so much that I can't move on to other video games because I'd rather be playing ACNH. I've only had one island called Praxis, but I hope to start a new one very soon! (In full disclosure, I've been saying that for months and life keeps getting in the way.)

I usually have my finger on the pulse of fresh posts, but you'll never know that because I reblog everything to the queue which hovers around 300 at all times. I use reblogging in real time to indicate when things aren't from the queue as opposed to marking everything that is. On Fridays, I hit "shuffle queue" and sometimes tweak the times and number of posts.

I've been sharing screenshots from my island Praxis with acnh praxis, animal crossing, animal crossing new horizons, acnh, acnh screenshots, acnh life, & animal crossing creations, and the vacation homes I've decorated in Happy Home Paradise with happy home paradise, happy home designer, happy home dlc, acnh happy home paradise, and acnh exterior or acnh interior as relevant.

Other tags I use:

ac [villager name] and acnh [villager name] because I couldn't remember which one I started with so to ensure I can go back and find things I do both on each post that highlights a villager to remain consistent.

If there is more than one villager showcased, I usually try to tag each one individually. However, if I am in a hurry or I don't know all the villagers and don't have time to look them up, I will use the general acnh villagers. I try to also use acnh [species name], especially if the post is solely one species.

Anything regarding dialogue (photo edited or organic) I use acnh dialogue or ac dialogue if it isn't New Horizons.

acnh codes, custom codes, and acnh custom design for the codes. This is not my strong suit, so any custom stuff you see in my screenshots someone else created (unless otherwise specified). I do not usually share the codes in each post since they aren't mine, but if you ask for them, I'll share.

For dream address posts I also use the tag i really need to start dreaming again because I haven't done it in awhile.

acnh inspiration is for anything that I see that makes me go, "Wow, I wish I was playing right now because this has INSPIRED me!" I never use this tag on my own posts, only rbs of others. If I rb your post with that, you should take it as the HIGHEST compliment. 😘

If there is crossover content between AC and other fandoms, I use when worlds collide, and sometimes I even share crossovers where I am not familiar with the other one.

I love it when people like, reblog, comment, and use my ask box. I love talking to strangers (because a stranger is just a friend you haven't made yet) and I love answering questions. I really like the animal crossing community, and I love making new friends. 💞

I'm still trying to figure out when I should be writing my commentary in the body of the reblog and when it should be a tag instead. I have an Insta dedicated just to my video games. I play all kinds of games from hack-and-slash to shooter but for the most part I post my cozy games because they involve so much decorating and they're prettier.

The cozy games I have played/am playing are Animal Crossing New Horizons, Stardew Valley, Disney Dreamlight Valley, Coral Island, House Flipper, Dinkum, My Time At Portia, My Time At Sandrock, Grow: Song of the Evertree, Fae Farm, Farm Together, No Place Like Home, Cozy Grove, Hokko Life, and a little of Palia though admittedly I'm having a hard time staying interested in Palia.

I've also been playing Hogwarts Legacy, Dragon Quest Builders 2, Witcher III Wild Hunt and have played Dying Light, Days Gone, The Division, Fallout IV, Halo, Fable, Destiny and many more.

Anyway, I made this post in case you guys wanna give me a follow. I'm usually not the type to shamelessly plug but ever since they changed Instagram to only showing people the top posts when they search something, I get absolutely ZERO interactions on my posts. First up is the Ranch itself! A mimic in its final stage of life! They normally become dungeons or haunted houses but this lovely guy had the (mis)fortune to become a familiar with Moon in around the 1700's I'm pretty sure. And as a fully adult mimic it spawns thousands of baby mimics which end up replacing our furniture and the like.

some of my simmosa headcanons:

amy does the aster flores thing where she has a look for whenever she wants to be kissed.

jonah has letterboxd. he also runs an account for amy (named “my girlfriend amy” which appropriately gets changed to “my wife amy” once they get married) that blows up because she has funny things to say about films but no patience to document them. meanwhile his account has the patron tier, over a thousand films logged, and cleverly articulated reviews with meticulous ratings but only 9 followers.

amy wore the ring that jonah stole to get her measurements a lot while she was in california. mostly as a reminder of the mistake she’ll inevitably understand that she made but also because it’s strangely comfortable to have on.

jonah started a podcast right after the breakup. he stopped recording episodes after accidentally letting marcus move in with him and i’ve got no idea what it would be about but i think he would set up the stupidly costly mic that he bought online in front of amy’s plants and pretend they were his audience.

amy gets super into video games again over the pandemic. in between binge watching shows and attending corporate meetings, she becomes a real acnh woman, much to the dismay of emma. when she and jonah get back together, she forces him to play lovers in a dangerous spacetime. they kill it at that game in spite of whatever argument might ensue.

a list of some shows i think jonah has watched: succession, severance, the west wing, the wire, lost, black mirror, charmed.

the recall room stayed even after they converted cloud 9 into a fulfillment center since no one else knew about it, so amy and jonah still sneak in there sometimes for the fun of it. when they visit dina and the others for the first time, they disappear after ten minutes and everybody thinks they either got lost or crushed by some packages. (let’s be honest, they’re having another town hall moment.)

couples costumes they would do: elizabeth and philip jennings, climate change (she’s a polar bear and he’s a melting ice cap), romeo and juliet (specifically from the baz luhrmann movie obviously, though this is based off an original script of the pilot that has a nod to the fish tank scene, even though it was actually between jonah and dina but that is not important.)

so they’ve both always absolutely been bi to me. it’s an unspoken thing at work for jonah, so amy is the first person he actually tells, voices aloud that this is who he is a person, and that’s what she’s signing up for when they finally start dating. and it gets gears turning in her head. this is a lot of projection on my end but i think amy looks back at the women she filed away as formative role models in her head and wonders whether there was something more there. remembers how she always thought someone like missy jones looked so gorgeous but thought that had more to do with being blinded by her talent. jonah helps amy figure out her feelings for women once he finds out she thought staring at them all the time was a normal thing to do.

they have the same taste in people. i have a whole episode made up in my mind about them figuring this out and the discovery spiraling to the point that they have everybody in the break room naming truly anyone to see if they both have a crush on the person or not. they have multiple whiteboards with the most complicated system ranking countless celebrities and the whole thing ends when jonah asks amy if she actually finds him attractive but she successfully avoids giving him an answer by making out with him. she does btw but she would never tell him because it would go to his head immediately and he would never let her live it down.

So little story short I’ve been obsessed with plaid patterns lately, so I made my visions real by making some outfits in acnh ! I’ve been having fun with the game again for this past week, making my total hours of the game around 535, which is sooooooo much, haha !

Anyway, I might come up with new colors for this outfit and I’m pretty excited about it.

Animal Crossing has been my favorite license since Wild World and I can’t wait to share with you all the cool stuff that I try to make.

Also I haven't been posting much, we adopted a kitten my mom found on the street. He's one month old and is starting to make friends with our other cats. But it's been quite the journey, feeding him baby bottles every 4 hours and looking after him in our big apartment !

So I'm not super active on any one social media. I think a lot of people are drifting as algorithms and other factors make creators feel isolated/unable to share their crafts? The bots have been very persistent, and often have names or name-adjacent strings of letters + number(s) - and no posts, and often no description, or a variety of emojis / etc. as a description. And always an avatar of a photo of something real, often women, but sometimes not. When you followed my blog, your blog didn't have any posts (and many of the other elements that made it look like a bot) - so I blocked your account. Sorry! Glad we've sorted that out. And you've got at least one post now, so probably you won't be mistaken for a bot by any other accounts you choose to follow! btw re: villager hunting in acnh (i know literally less than none of you care lol)

as if we needed proof that villager hunting/nmts is an RNG that runs basically perfectly--which is a bad design for something specifically for human interface with like this, they needed to add in some probability to balance shit out so that species/specific villagers would be less likely to come up after you encountered them--i tracked 573 nmts that i used to look for margie (as well as phoebe and stitches, both of whom i ended up just getting off of nookazon). i also counted 218 villagers that i'd seen a minimum of once on the other 400-600 nmts that i used before i started counting.

so the numbers won't be exact, bc for 218/400 some villagers, they have an additional single tally, but likely were seen more than once in those previous hunts.

so it's not exact, i'm bad at statistics, etc.

but look at this shit

in total, that's 573 plus 218, which is 791. again, this technically isn't even correct, because that 218 does not account for multiple sightings of those same villagers. just whether i saw them or not across my ~1100 tickets of hunting.

791 (tickets/encounters tallied) divided by 35 (number of species) is 22.6

the mode here is 23

that's fucking ridiculous.

meanwhile, here's what the individual villager tracking chart looks like

patty and naomi make sense. as does zucker. in fact, all 4 octopodes are within the top 50 sightings. again, makes sense!

what's absurd here are the mice, the penguin, even the bird.

while there are only 4 octopodes, there are SIXTEEN MICE. and yet TWO of them were seen FIVE TIMES EACH.

even the alligators! there are 8--twice as many of them as octopodes--and FIVE of them are in the top THIRTY-FIVE!

and yet, THAT math ALSO works out.

not in a FUN way! just in a way where the fucking RNG they use is running mathematically perfectly.

take, for example, the alligators--as i just pointed out.

altogether, the alligators were seen an average of 3.75 times each. altogether, they were seen 30 times.

which means. they had a 1/8 chance (.125, or 12.5%) of showing up each of those 30 times (.125 x 30)--for 3.75 times each

and the fucking mode is 4. followed by 3. i JUST. FUCKING.

this shit is literally MATHEMATICALLY PERFECT for the fucking RNG algorithm they put in. absolutely fucking INSANE. ridiculous.

because even though it means that i saw patty the cow FUCKING ELEVEN GODDAMN TIMES (and that's NOT counting the repeats of her i saw when i was first hunting but not tracking every ticket!) it would STILL be mathematically correct and accurate.

and THAT is why it shouldn't be an RNG. bc it randomizes twice:

once for the villager species (1/35) and then once for the villager within that species (1/however many are in that species)

you're going to see the octopodes and cows and bulls a million goddamn fucking times, but you're simply not going to see the ONE FUCKING VILLAGER YOU WANT with ANY regularity

meanwhile i saw raymond like 4 times, purrl 3 or 4 times, and dobie 4 times. shit's fucking wild.

but it doesn't matter how many times each individual villager shows up, so long as the end result of ALL villagers within a species and each species eventually mathematically work out to exactly what the RNG dictates.

and the variations that you see within the species encounters? that's down to my own errors in not tracking over 500 other tickets/islands. i only have 1 tally for 218 villagers, even though it would've been more.

so despite the fact that the average number of encounters for each species is 22.6, which is exactly correct, the species encounters themselves are quite spread out. my data is off by a bit.

this shit's fucking wild. and if they make another animal crossing game with this feature/mechanic in it, IT NEEDS TO NOT BE A FUCKING RNG
