So, okay

It's a little hard to explain without an essay but I'll try to keep this brief! I discovered my food kintypes the same way I discover most of my others. I used a combination of meditating for memories and a general "hey that's me" vibe.

But Ichabod, foods don't have memories!!!

Aha! You've got me there. But! They can if you believe in animism! What is animism? Basically, it is the belief that everything has its own sort of "energy" (whether its called a consciousness, soul, spirit, energy, etc. varies from person to person.) Plants, rocks, elements, animals, man-made objects, and yes, food. Many people across the world believe in animism for reasons such as spirituality/religion, neurotype, superstition, or even just its appeal as a belief system!

(My belief in animism goes hand in hand with my objectumsexuality!)

Ichabod! Does that mean you believe food is sentient and it upsets you when people chew gum???

No! I love eating my foodtypes lmao. Besides, the level of energy objects have is often not the same as sentient beings have. It's more nuanced than just "everything is alive."

So I started out thinking "Hey I think I'm bubblegum spiritually" "hey I think I'm Mango Loco Monster" "Hey I think I'm candy corn" etc etc. and then I did a little research (and taste testing hehe) I meditated for memories, I thought about the way each thing made me feel and how I felt in relation to them and figured yeah, I am foodkin.

I’ve been looking into some Greek food photographers since I will be making a Greek recipe. What I like about their work, especially the photos that I've chosen is the warm lighting and how they combine modernity and tradition.

Here are also some interesting designs by Greek graphic designer, Paris Koutsikos. The designs are playful and turn actual type into food. They are inspired by his favourite sandwiches that he used to have when he was younger. The words are the ingredients of each sandwich. I find this idea really creative and fun!

Food Types - critique

These were the design ideas that I presented during my critique. I took some notes as well and I’m going to try and apply them in my designs because I feel that my project is in a good path but there is a lot of room for improvement.

Oreo lovin’ by @novice_calligrapher! 😋 ・・・ "Love what you do and do what you love." Easier said than done but key of all our happiness. . This week's #goodtypetuesday challenge brought by @goodtype and @caseyligon is to letter the phrase "Love what you do" with things you love. . Although I love a lot of things but my love for biscuits and cookies is boundless especially for Oreos 🤤🤤 And hence I tried to write the phrase with crushed Oreos. And I must say that after this project my respect for food letterers and tactile lettering artists has reached another level. So much patience and self control (from eating those cookies) is required in the process. It took me 3 hours to letter this even when all the ingredients and design was ready. . Was inspired to do food lettering by @adehogue 's recent stories of tactile lettering at @letter_west . You do an amazing job Are.
