Arriving at the Imperial Palace, Ayn walked closely behind me. It felt strange to see the shadows that were secretly overlapping with one another.
There was no such thing as popularity, but a terrifyingly cold voice flew in.
???: The commander of the executor's unit and the Goddess of another world, it's a rather unexpected combination.
Clarence: May I ask what's going on?
Ayn: I'll give you any answers, Archmage Clarence.
Even the surrounding air became cooler due to the confrontation between the commander of the execution unit and the head of the wizard tower.
Being of the royal family, Ayn doesn't feel afraid or worried about Clarence at all.
Ayn: I stumbled upon this woman getting caught up in a commotion outside the castle caused by the rebels.
Ayn: Since she's my brother's fiancee, it's a way to heal wounds and escort her to the Imperial Palace.
Ayn: I heard that one of the nine wizards in the tower was supposed to be escorting this woman...
Ayn looked straight at Clarance and sarcastically said:
Ayn: The person who slept in battle and disappeared mid-battle is the archmage's favorite disciple?
Clarence stared at Ayn with eyes sharp enough to cause tingles but Ayn did not avert his eyes.
Clarence: It's a strange story. That Alkaid, no one else, escaped during the battle, and that His Majesty was just there.
Ayn: Suppressing the rebels is the mission of the Enforcer Unit. What's weird about doing my job? Before making such a statement, please faithfully do the basic duties of the tower.
Ayn: Today, I was well aware of the position of Magic Tower towards the emperor's fiancee.
Ayn: Maybe it's because he's never had blood on his hands, the Archmage is so easygoing. It's embarrassing.
Clarence: Just trying to check the situation. I had no intention of offending Your Majesty.
Clarence: But...
Clarence's gaze shifted to me. Through his thin glasses, his eyes were full of coldness.
Clarence: It's a cut on the palm... it's too neat to be a defensive wound. The attacking rebels must have been quite friendly.
MC: !!!
When did he even check my wounds? His legitimate suspicions sent shudders up my spine and my lips dried up.
Clarence's dark blue eyes turned up to Ayn again. The sense of crisis reached its peak and I was suffocating.
Then, the gentle sound of footsteps approached. The approaching savior was Rorschach.
Rorschach: Sir Clarence, don't bother my bride whom I fought so hard to bring over.
Clarence: .....
Rorschach: I'm terrified. Don't look so pitiful.
It must have been said to me, but Rorschach's eyes were on Ayn.
Even though they are cousins, the two have no similarities in appearance or atmosphere.
The Emperor drove the heir and sole cousin into a limb.
Ayn's red eyes meet Rorschach's and hatred flashed through his eyes.
Ayn... does he hate Rorschach?
Rorschach turned his gaze away from Ayn and turned to Clarence.
Rorschach: From what I heard, it seems that the Archmage's subordinates did not perform their escort role properly. What happened?
Clarence: Whatever the story, I won't make any excuses as the result turned out like this. Instead, another wizard...
Rorschach: No. As of this time, the bride's escort will be entrusted to Ayn, so I relieve the tower of this duty.
It was totally surprising. No, of course, it's an advantageous situation for me, but it's embarrassing to see things go so easily.
While I wandered around, Ayn was polite and obeyed orders and Clarence released that chill that seemed to freeze its surroundings.
Clarence: Your Majesty, I hope that the basis of the oath will not be damaged by such incidents.
Clarence immediately left.
Rorschach headed to the meeting room and ordered me and Ayn to follow.
This is the start...
Ayn: Fine.
Ayn took the lead, and after taking a deep breath, I followed. He fiddled with the badge in his pocket to unwind.

For All Time Main Story - Ayn 5-2
for all time masterlist

I approached Alkaid. Ayn looked at us with sharp eyes from behind.
Alkaid asked what happened with a worried face.
I sincerely asked,
MC: Alkaid, please keep today's work a secret.
MC: Don't ask why, please. Please.
I whispered in his ear.
MC: And I'm sorry.
The moment Alkaid raised his head in amazement, I chopped the back of his neck as hard as I could.
Alkaid, who was attacked while in a defenseless state, lost consciousness.
-
The neighborhood was full of abandoned houses. As I struggled to hold Alkaid, Ayn instructed his subordinate to move Alkaid inside.
This is for the best. In order to escape the monitoring of the tower, you have to remove Alkaid.
Ayn: I thought you would be shivering but I'm surprised.
Suddenly, something flashed, and the tip of Ayn's sword aimed straight at Alkaid's neck.
MC: What are you doing?! You were supposed to leave it to me!
Ayn: I changed my mind. If you keep him alive, he will surely come back.
In a sense of urgency, I rushed forward without a second thought.
When I grabbed the blade, a sharp, hot pain spread through the palm of my hand to my entire body. As I looked down at the tears flowing down, I shuttered in pain.
Ayn yelled out.
Ayn: Are you crazy? Grabbing a sword blade with bare hands!
The pain I experienced for the first time in my life was beyond my imagination. Nevertheless, I put strength into my grasp. I didn't want Alkaid to die because of me.
Ayn: You really are quite the woman...!
As if he was no longer angry, Ayn spoke out in a softer tone.
Ayn: I won't hurt you, I promise. Let go of the blade.
When I didn't look at him with suspicion, he took my hand off of the sword.
Ayn: There is a degree to what is urgent in nature.
MC: Thank you. For saving Alkaid.
Ayn frowned and glanced at my bloody hands.
Ayn: Damn wizards brought monsters from another world.
MC: Are you a monster? Do I look weird?
My hand hurt so much that I couldn't even cry. I struggled to endure the excruciating pain and forced a smile.
Ayn looked at me quietly then burst out laughing.
Ayn: No, I'm not a formidable monster either.
After throwing out an incomprehensible word, Ayn gently grabbed my hand and looked over the womb.
Ayn: Hold it tight to stop the bleeding. I will take responsibility for this wizard and put his life on the line.
Ayn: And today is the last day of this stupid act. I will surely make you regret it next time.
Ayn immediately summoned his men and ordered them to escort Alkaid to safety.
Ayn: The wound is deep, treat it.
Wizards also belong to the Executioner's Army. The magical light that had gathered at her fingertips was transferred to my wounds.
The wound, which was open and bleeding non-stop, healed rapidly. The terrible pain was gone in no time.
MC: Wow, magic is awesome.
Ayn: It's not absolute, so don't just trust and rely on it.
When the wizard left, Ayn also stood up.
Ayn: Return to the palace.
Ayn: Be quiet from now on. I'll figure the rest out.
Ayn and I left the deserted alley and walked towards the square.
As I was about to get on the waiting carriage, Ayn politely escorted me.
Unlike before, his noble and elegant attitude exuded the dignity of the imperial family.
Ayn sat across from me. We sat face to face the whole way back but never made eye contact.
With eyes that were full of things to say, Ayn glanced at my hand.
MC: It's ok now, really.
He snorted and turned his head away with a smirk.
After a while, he calmly spoke.
Ayn: Find out what the Enforcer's troops do.
Ayn: It will help you understand me. Maybe.
Ayn: As you know, I am the royal heir directly nominated by Rorschach and the commander of the emperor's executive corps.
Ayn: Article 1 of the decree, the murderer is executed.
Ayn: Article 2, execution of traitors.
Ayn: After ascending to the throne. Rorschach abandoned all the complicated provisions of the old code of law and left only large ones as edicts. Those edicts are the reason out troops exist.
Article 3 of the edict, find a mad wizard, execute.
Ayn: In the case of wizards, exceptionally, they take a preemptive response as soon as there is a sign that they will lose their temper.
Weird. Rorschach seemed to have a deep trust in Clarence, and the alliance between the emperor and the magic tower seemed solid.
But how do they accept that the emperor's executive corps monitors and even executes wizards?
Not just that. The combat power of wizards is superior to that of ordinary soldiers.
With all this, Enforcer's are effectively the most dangerous missionaries in the Empire.
Why did Rorscharch choose Ayn as his only successor and at the same time, entrust him with such a cruel and dangerous task?
Their relationship certainly didn't seem to be normal.
Seeing my expression in deep thought, Ayn smiled a little.
Ayn: No matter how much you roll your bad head, you can't find an answer?
I grumbled in dismay.
MC: It's not that my brain is bad, it's that the problem is weird in the first place.
Ayn: Okay. If you say so.
The unexplicable loneliness was revealed in the side view of his face as he muttered calmly. For some reason, I thought he must have been a loner until now.
Having fallen into a different world, I, like him, am lonely.
As I glanced at his black cloak, I burst out laughing out of the blue. Ayn looked at me with puzzled eyes.
MC: That cloak. When I looked at it earlier, everything seemed to be pulled out of it but how the hell do you think the pockets fit so much?
Ayn: If you are curious, check it out yourself.
Ayn smiled meaningfully and opened the hem of the cloak, as I waved my hand in amazement.
Now that the two loners have formed a secret alliance, they can no longer be considered loners. The wagon carrying "us" quickly ran down the road.
