“What is it that you think you’re doing?” Lucifer’s words are soft, but annoyed as you pull the covers back to climb into his massive bed beside him.

“Sleeping,” you answer with a roll of your eyes.

You hum, rolling over to face him. It’s late and he looks exhausted. His hair is ruffled and his bare chest distracts you for a moment. You’re one of the few who could ever see him not put together.

“Couldn’t sleep?” he whispers as he pulls you close, ignoring the yawn you release as you drape your leg over his hip.

“Nightmare,” you murmur as you settle into his side, melting underneath his hand as he strokes the top of your head.

“Sleep. I am here to protect you from all dangers, even those in your sleep.”

Mammon

“Wah! What?!” Mammon is startled awake when he feels his bed dip. “Asmo, I swear if you’re trying to do my makeup in my sleep again for your Devilgram, I will end you right where you stand!”

“Ooh, so threatening,” you giggle as you get into his bed.

Mammon instantly relaxes as he turns on his side to face you. “What are you doing here, Treasure?”

“Can’t I come sleep with you when I please?” you smile as you bite back a yawn. Mammon nods, too tired to put on his ‘too cool’ facade. 

“Of course, Treasure. But you shouldn’t be roaming the halls so late at night. Call me next time and I’ll go to you.”

“Shh, sleep,” you giggle, wondering if he’s noticed you’re wearing a shirt you stole from him earlier when he was at a gig.

“And don’t think I didn’t notice you stole my shirt, you little thief,” Mammon murmurs as he falls asleep once again, pulling you close to his chest.

Levi

“I’m sleeping!” Levi huffs as he tugs the blanket up to his chest. His computer was still whirring as it shut off, and you knew he must have just climbed into his tub.

“It’s just me, Levi, not Lucifer,” you shake your head as you tiptoe closer and make him scoot over. He does so, muttering something unintelligle.

“I couldn’t sleep,” you state as you tug the blanket from him and he groans as he makes room for you. He had stayed up 36 hours playing a new game and now he needed some rest. Levi was just realizing he hadn’t seen you much during the day and he’d missed you.

“Plus, I wanted to see you,” you whisper, feeling him go rigid before he turns to face you.

“Yo-you did?” he stutters. His cheeks are warm and pink and he hopes it’s dark enough in his room to hide them.

“Of course, I did. That pillow you gave me isn’t enough for me, Levi. I needed you,” you admit as you drape your leg over his hip and guide his hand to your waist. 

“Didn’t you miss me?” you ask as you press your forehead to his. Levi ignores the wild pounding of his heart as he locks eyes with you.

“I-I did,” he whispers, closing his eyes for a moment as his cheeks burn hotter from embarrassment. 

You don’t say anything else, simply lean forward to kiss him goodnight.

Satan

Satan briefly looks up from his book when his bedroom door opens. The small light attached to the hardcover allows him enough light to read. 

“Go away, Mammon!” Satan huffs when nobody enters after a second. He knew Mammon liked to sneak around late at night to see what he could take to sell. Satan was still owed for his cursed book on transmutation. 

“It’s just me,” you chuckle as you close the door behind you. You head straight for his bed, climbing in beside him.

“What are you doing up so late?” Satan asks as he shuts his book. The kitty ears of his bookmark stick out from the top, and you smile warmly when you realize he uses your gift quite often.

“I couldn’t sleep. I figured you’d still be up and welcome me into your bed,” you whisper as you snuggle into his side. 

“You were correct,” Satan states as he raises his book and opens it to the page he left off. “Get comfortable.”

You do so, your head rests on his shoulder as he reads aloud. You soon drift off to the sound of his voice and Satan smiles to himself when he notes the cute way you sleep.

Asmo

“Beel, I already told you, you can’t eat my-” Asmo blinks when he spots you. “Oh, I thought you were someone else.”

“What did Beel want to eat?” you ask curiously as you climb into bed with him. Asmo giggles as he raises the covers and you spot his matching pajamas.

“My new avocado mask,” Asmo sighs heavily. “He came in here saying I was hiding food and raided all my new skincare products. I barely stopped him from eating my mask.”

“Whoops!” you giggle as you settle in beside him. Asmo admires you for a moment, his arm draping over your waist to pull you close.

“I see you did your skin care routine for once,” he smirks as you wiggle your butt toward him. Your back meets his chest and he kisses your shoulder. “I knew you could be good for me.”

“Asmo,” you huff, but soon lose all annoyance when his hand slips under your t-shirt. 

“Shh, darling. Get some sleep.”

Beel

Beel had his back facing the door when you opened it slowly. You figured he’d been sleeping for a while as you noted Belphie wasn’t in bed.

Carefully, you life the covers and nearly scream when Beel rolls over to face you. You thought he’d been asleep!

“What are you doing here?” he asks as he stuffs his hand in a bag of chips. 

“You scared me!” you hiss as you get into his bed, making sure there’s no crumbs beneath you. If Lucifer knew he was snacking in bed, and you knew of it, he’d have you sweeping the floors with a toothbrush.

“You’re the one in my room, Cupcake,” Beel chuckles as he eats a handful of chips. You hope he’s almost done with them because you came here to get some sleep. You had grown tired of tossing and turning in your bed. You need Beel’s large arms wrapped around you to keep your bad dreams away.

“Couldn’t sleep,” you murmur as he pats his fingers on his sweatpants. His bare chest gets your attention as he tosses the empty chip bag onto the nightstand.

“I’m here now, Cupcake,” he assures you as he pulls you close, his arm draped over your waist as he pulls you close. You nod, yawning into his broad chest as he places his nose over your head. He inahles the scent of your hair, smiling softly.

Though you couldn’t cure his insatiable hunger, you definitely dulled it. He was glad you had sought him out tonight.

Belphie

“Levi, go away!” Belphie huffs as he hugs his pillow closer to his face. He was trying to sleep after a long day and only five naps. Levi had asked him to play some new game Belphie had no interest in and promised to cook dinner tomorrow so he could get another nap in.

“It’s just me,” you whisper as you get into bed with him. You figured he was hiding from Levi up here.

“Oh,” he responds as he opens his eyes a tiny bit. He raises the covers for you to climb in beside him. 

“Why are you up?” he asks with a yawn. His hair falls over his eyes and you gently push it away. You hadn’t seen him all day and now you realized how much you missed him. It was hard going about your day when he slept for most of it. Often you’d join him on his naps, not getting out of bed except to eat and shower, but today he’d been holed up with Levi.

“Missed you,” you admit as you replace his pillow. Belphie rests his head on your chest as you gently stroke his hair.

“I missed you, too,” he says as he blinks owlishly. He knew he should try to stay awake but he was just too tired. “Tomorrow we’ll go out. Just the two of us.”

“I’d love that,” you grin, meeting his gaze for a moment. “Sleep tight, Belphie.” 

Belphie kisses your cheek before he snuggles closer and falls asleep once again.

Mammon put his warm hands on your shoulders and shook gently, not used to your lack of response. He furrowed his eyebrows as he caught sight of the dark bags under your dull eyes. 

“Yeesh, MC! Did ya get into a fight or something?” Mammon joked, trying his best to hide the fact that he was worried about his human. 

“Huh?” you blinked as you realized you had just been zoning out. “I, uh.... Shit! I forgot my potions textbook in my room, I’ll see you all later!” 

“Language,” Lucifer sternly reminded you as you haphazardly scurried out of the classroom, your mind "lagging” as Leviathan would put it. The demon brothers watched you leave, shooting odd looks at each other. 

“I don’t think MC’s been getting enough sleep,” Belphie yawned.

“As much as I hate to agree with Belphegor, he’s right. They seem quite fatigued.” Lucifer said, staring intently at his brothers. “Leviathan, did you force MC to play video games with you all night again?”

“Don’t accuse me first,” Leviathan grumbled. “But no, I was catching up on some anime alone last night.”

“Maybe MC needs to eat some more,” Beelzebub said, snacking on some chips despite the ‘no food’ sign in the front of the classroom. “Oh, I have an idea! Let’s get Luke and Simeon to cook a celestial feast.” 

“You obviously only want that for your own self interest,” Satan rolled his eyes. “I’ve read a book on this. Maybe MC’s malnourished? Humans are fragile, of course. Additionally, the Devildom provides little natural light from the sun like in the human world.” 

“I know just the cure!” Asmodeus gasped, pulling up Akuzon on his D.D.D. “Aaand it’s ordered!” 

“You better not have used my Akuzon account for whatever beauty product you bought,” Leviathan raised an eyebrow. 

“Oh hush, Levi. Trust me, this will fix MC up right away!”

The package arrived by the end of the school day, thanks to Levi’s Akuzon Prime subscription. 

Mammon held up a colorful piece of gelatin in his hand, inspecting it thoroughly.

“It seems that humans have weak minds then,” Lucifer sighed. “Either that, or we’ve been fooled.” 

You walked into the HOL, stifling a yawn. Your entire body felt heavy from fatigue. It seemed like you had taken the human world’s abundance of sunlight and Vitamin D for granted. Solomon had helped you by casting a energy spell for the first few months you had lived here, but even that was starting to wear off.

“MC!” Mammon basically tripped over his brothers to rush to you. “Take one before you die!” 

Startled, you looked up just in time to see Mammon basically shoving a gummy in your mouth, before you were immediately blinded by Asmodeus holding a warm light in your face. 

You covered your face and squinted your eyes, seeing the eager and expecting eyes of the demon brothers. 

“Guys, what are you doing?” You questioned. This was pretty unexpected, but you were used to the brothers pranks and shenanigans. 

“We just wanted to help! We heard you were malnutritioned because it’s always dark in the Devildom!” Mammon said. 

“So we bought a sun lamp and some vitamin gummies for you,” Belphegor yawned. 

“Aw, guys... Thank you!” You smiled happily. Even though you hadn’t told the brothers explicitly what was wrong, thinking you could take care of it yourself, they had of course, noticed. Your heart swelled with appreciation, until you noticed that the brothers were still staring at you expectantly, like you were about to turn into some mutant creature. 

“Uhh.. You guys do know that it’ll take a few days for my body to recover, right?” You shrugged. 

“Oh..” Satan sighed, as the brothers looked disappointed. “I thought the effects would have been immediate.” 

“Laaame,” Leviathan said. “A power-up type feature would have been way cooler! Like, imagine if MC ate that thing and grew 10 feet in size to defeat the final boss!” 

“That’s fine, MC. Just focus on resting. I’ve excused you from classes for the rest of the week,” Lucifer said. “This is an quality of humans we should have researched more during the planning stage of the exchange program. Diavolo also sends his apologies.” 

"Thank you Lucifer, but it’s no big deal,” you smiled. “Well, I’m going to go take a nap now.” 

"I’ll come with,” Belphegor yawned. 

“Oh no you don’t!” Mammon yelled, running after the two. “I’m the only one allowed in MC’s bed!” 

“Hey, don’t forget about me! I’m bringing the lamp!” Asmo cried, waving it in the air. 

“You know, I also read that cuddling with a partner can help fatigue,” Satan blushed, following behind. 

“I’ll bring some snacks for us,” Beelzebub called after. 

“I’ll bring my TSL movies so we can have some background sound!” Leviathan ran after. “Don’t you dare start without me!” 

Lucifer sighed, looking after his brothers scrambling to get to MC. From having spells backfire on you, battling unique health concerns, and getting preyed on by lower-ranking demons, your acclimation to the Devildom had faced many obstacles. However, Lucifer knew that he and his brothers would do anything to ensure you had a support system.

Mc is off doing Mc things, their walking around R.A.D on their own not with any of the characters. Mc soon notices that a creepy random demon is following them, Mc tries to loose the demon in the crowd of R.A.D students but the random demon sticks on Mc's tail no matter how they try and loose it. So Mc does the only thing they can think to do, which is go to somebody they know and trust, how does the character react to Mc coming to them to help get rid of the creepy demon?

Lucifer's Reaction:

Mc is off doing their own thing. They are waiting for Lucifer to finish up some paper work in the assembly hall, so the two can walk back to HoL together. Mc didn't want to stay in the assembly hall with Lucifer so they went to the R.A.D library to pass some time. While Mc is walking around the R.A.D library looking at and reading random books, they notice some random demon seems to be following them. They think maybe they're just being paranoid, but the random demon seems to follow Mc anywhere they go in the library. The random demon wasn't even looking at books, they would just peek around the bookshelves and stare at Mc while Mc tried to look at books. Mc fairly started to feel creeped out, not knowing how to get rid of the creepy random demon Mc decides to just go find someone they know. Mc heads out of the R.A.D library and towards the assembly hall, figuring if the demon didn't follow it would be fine cause they needed to go meet back up with Lucifer anyways. At first when Mc exits the library and begins walking down the hallways of R.A.D towards the assembly hall, they think that the creepy random demon stopped following, but before they can feel relieved they see the Random demon, the creepy random demon seems to be hiding behind other R.A.D students and random objects in the hallway, trying to stay hidden from Mc's vision while also trying to follow them. The random demon just keeps becoming creepier and creepier to Mc so Mc picks up their pace, basically speed walking towards the assembly hall now. When Mc gets to the assembly hall they see Lucifer outside of it talking to some R.A.D student. When Lucifer sees Mc he pauses talking to the student to say something to mc but he stops himself as he immediately can tell something is wrong. He watches as Mc runs over to him and hides behind him. When Mc explains that some creepy demon is following them, Lucifer is proud. It fills his ego with pride that his human came running and hiding behind him because there was some random demon following them around and scaring them. Although it seems like an arrogant pride, he's honestly just proud that Mc knows he'll keep them safe and feel safe enough to run to him when scared, the bragging rights of Mc running to him is just an added bonus. Lucifer's ego gets stroked even more when the random demon that had been following Mc freezes up when seeing Lucifer, and then bolts, running away in fear of the eldest of the demon brothers. Lucifer lets the random demon run off, his concern right now is making sure Mc feels safe and is protected, but once he gets Mc back safely to HoL he will do a little investigating and find the random demon. The random demon's punishment is no less severe than it would've been if Lucifer punished the demon right when the situation went down instead of letting them run. If anything the punishment is more severe as he had time to see Mc's reactions and hear their feelings over what happened. Who really knows what happened to the random demon, Lucifer is a sadistic demon, his punishments come in all kinds of ranges of severity. All Mc knows is that they never get messed with again by that demon, they aren't even fully sure if they saw them again, but that's probably because if the random demon even catches a whiff of a human within 50 yards of it the random demon goes running. Whatever happened with Lucifer was enough punishment to make it so that the random demon will avoid Mc at all costs.

Mammon's Reaction:

Mc is running late, they were supposed to meet Mammon by the R.A.D entrance gates after classes were over for the day, so that the two could walk back to HoL together. Mc however had to go to the bathroom after their classes were finished. Mc went to the bathroom and did their business as fast as they could before exiting the bathroom and heading straight towards the entrance gates, not wanting to make Mammon wait any longer. As Mc walks away from the R.A.D bathrooms they notice a random demon had been leaning against the walls near the bathroom seemingly waiting on Mc, as when Mc exits the bathrooms and begins to walk away the random demon pops off the wall and begins to follow closely behind Mc. The random demon had a shady looking appearance and the vibe just made Mc feel uneasy, they didn't think if the random demon caught up to them it would be a nice friendly conversation, so Mc picks up their pace and begins to dart and dive through the crowd of other R.A.D students, hoping to loose the creepy demon in the crowd. When Mc finally makes it through the crowd and to a calmer part of the hallway they are relieved to see they're already rather close to where Mammon is waiting for them, however their relief doesn't last long Mc notices the creepy demon make its way through the crowd still sticking close behind them. Mc picks up their pacing, basically sprinting up to Mammon. At first when Mammon sees Mc sprinting up to him, he scolds them for being late, though his scolding quickly dies down when Mc hides behind him muttering about how some random demon won't stop following them, while pointing towards the random demon who is still close behind on Mc's tail. The random demon seems to pause when it sees Mammon, but then it steps forward like it's testing Mammon to see if he will protect Mc. Mammon doesn't even have time to feel all giddy and happy that Mc felt safe enough to hide behind him, no his full attention is on the fact that a random demon was making Mc feel threaten. The random demon is testing the wrong demon, Mammon protecting Mc? Mammon's willing to die for Mc, Mc is his most prized treasure, and just like a dragon with its treasure pile, Mammon would rather die defending his treasure than abandoning it. Mammon is in his demon form without a seconds hesitation, fuming and ready to tear this random demon to shreds. The random demon seems to understand the danger it is and takes off running, Mammon chases after it, but only until he gets the random demon far enough away that Mc is out of its sight. Then Mammon goes zooming back to Mc, refusing to be too far away from Mc as he can't have his human treasure getting hurt. The random demon leaves Mc alone, and avoids Mc the best it can, but that might be because Mammon refuses to leave Mc's side for awhile, someone got too close to his treasure, he got worried and has to be over protective for a good while.

Leviathan's Reaction:

Mc is off being Mc man, doing wayy to much socializing for Levi's liking, so Levi decided to just chill by a classroom while Mc goes around having to talk to people for a festival they are in charge of setting up. Levi wanted to be at R.A.D to catch cool items for a D.D.D game he's been playing, so it wasn't no biggie for him to wait, then him and Mc could be normies and walk back to HoL together. Which Levi is low key excited to do. Mc deals with the people and the event stuff fine, handling everything rather fast, but while they deal with the stuff for the event they notice a random demon seems to follow them around no matter where they go in R.A.D. Mc didn't think to much about it at first, thinking that they were simply going to all the same places, but then things start getting weirder. The creepy random demon starts trying to get closer and closer to Mc, and then when Mc sets down a pen the random demon takes it! Mc feeling uncomfortable and not knowing what to do, decides to go find someone they know. They were almost done with all the event stuff anyways so they decide to do the rest tomorrow and head back to where Levi is waiting so that the two can walk home together. Mc thinks maybe they'll lose the creepy random demon along the way... but they don't, the random demon stays right on their tail, not falling behind once. Mc tries to be calm and collected but feeling freaked out and like the creepy random demon is closing in on them, Mc starts sprinting down the R.A.D hallways til they get to where Levi is. Levi is just standing around playing on his D.D.D like Mc knew he would be, Levi barely glances up in time to see Mc come running up and then cowering behind him while pointing and explaining what's happening. Levi freezes, his first instinct is to run away, he doesn't like confrontation after all, but when he glances at Mc fearfully hiding behind him his entire attitude changes. That's his human! His best friend! His Henry! Nobody makes Mc scared, this is Levi's chance to be a hero! To be Mc's hero! How many chances like that does he get? So Levi does the only thing he can think to do, he changes into his demon form and chases after the random demon! He could've summoned lotan but that would cause damage to R.A.D and then Lucifer would punish him, so he thought things through for once. Levi chases the random demon around for awhile until he gets tired, then he may go in for a pounce and try and fight the random demon, but again Levi doesn't like confrontation, so he most likely just stops and goes home to HoL with Mc and messes with the random demon through a lovely thing called the Internet. Whatever Levi does works, or maybe it was him chasing the random demon around who knows, the random demon doesn't bother Mc again. When the random demon sees Mc in the R.A.D hallway, it avoids them or lowers its head and avoids eye contact while passing them as fast as possible.

Since coming to the Devildom and growing closer and more comfortable with the brothers, you've promised yourself that you know better than showing how vulnerable you can get in times when your anxiety kicks in and your depression takes over.

You had always wished for a new start, a fresh one, away from those who left you all alone feeling the way you do. You had seen the exchange program at RAD as an opportunity to do just that, to forget about your life in the human world and become a new person, to try and be someone with lots of potential.

Of course, the first few months of your life living under the same roof of 7 powerful demons was chaos, but you told yourself that you won't let that break you, even though you know how close you are from falling apart. There were times when you experienced anxiety and panic attacks and your emotions getting the best of you, and you have no one to turn to, so you stay and attempt to keep quiet in the privacy of your room.

However, time passes by, and you've finally found a place for yourself in the House of Lamentation, you wondered how long it would take for you to finally show how you truly are to the brothers as you feel your mental conditions getting worse.

Your secrets were not completely unveiled, but symptoms and tendencies that occur often begin to concern the brothers, royals, and purgatory boys. They know how it feels. They've been there, but they don't know if it works the same for humans. But still, they don't stop there, and they decide to help you with small gestures.

Lucifer would reduce the works you have to do, both at RAD and at HoL. He invites you to his office or his room, insisting he needs to be kept company, but truly, he just wants to see as you relax and slowly fall asleep from whatever you decided to do as you enjoy the silence between you two, away from his brothers and all the chaos around you. Lucifer will never bring it up to you or be verbal about it. Instead, he tries to tell you through his actions that he's here for you no matter what.

Mammon makes sure he's always by your side to make sure you're laughing and having a great time. If he notices that you're being overwhelmed by his brothers and everyone else, he wil, drag you away from them and bring you to a good hiding plave with a nice and relaxing view. He will never pressure you or anything, but once he notices that you're bottling up your feelings again, he tells you that he'll keep it a secret if you cry and he won't judge you at all.

Levi invites you to game with him or sing in karaoke or watch anime or read manga, whatever it is you want. Even if he thinks he's not good at whatever you choose to do with him for a change, he will try his best at it if it makes you feel better. It's also not that he's forcing himself, but he wants to try other things for the first time, and he thinks it would be more special if he first tried it with you. Levi will try his best to comfort you. He would be awkward about it at first because he's scared he'd say something that will make you feel worse, but he still tries. He will refrain from insulting himself too in the middle of it because he knows it won't do anything good,

Satan reads books on understanding human feelings and conditions. He also reads to you whatever book genre interests you, what book you choose, or the book you bought in the human world or the Devildom, wherever it's from. He takes you to bookstores, too, as well as in cafés and to feed cats in the streets. He will do hobbies that are peaceful, not stressful, hoping it relieves you at least a bit. He will also tell you that it's okay to feel emotions, that you can go to him, and he will do anything to make you feel better. Of course, like everyone else, he will not make you feel like he's pressuring you to do so.

Asmo is a really bright demon! He's a ray of sunshine honestly, bringing positivity everywhere, reminding everyone especially the people he loves to love themselves. He would invite you to do spa with him, have a massage, skin care, and basically any self-care activities. If you're not up for it, however, he hopes you would stay with him still and he praises you, complimenting you over and over again until you tell him to stop if you want him to. He tells you he's here for you and that whatever you're going through will pass. Would tell you he loves you very much and he will help you with whatever you struggle with in your self-care and well-being. ♡

Beel offers you food, but it's okay if you reject it! He takes you to his practices and hopes to entertain you. If you want, you two can try cooking together, he promises he'll try to stop himself from eating the ingredients before you even get the chance to cook. Beel is very warm, and though he's very muscular and big (unless you have a different headcanon of him), he is still so nice to hug because he makes you feel so safe and protected. He doesn't want to let you go when he knows you're not feeling well, he wants to hug all your sadness away and make you feel better again. Like Lucifer, he won't be verbal with it. He will show his love and care for you through his actions.

Belphie says he sleeps to forget about loneliness and sadness, but he knows that's not how it always works. If you ever need someone to talk to, literally about anything, he will be the one to listen. He will try not to fall asleep. He does think that your voice sounds like a lullaby that comforts him in a way, knowing you're next to him. He wants to do the same for you, to help you feel comforted and not judged for your feelings. He cuddles with you, you can be the big spoon or he will be, you decide. He tells you he's always here for you and that he will try to understand you like how you did for him.

Ok so Rebecca did a one hour panel today in Sydney with Lynette Noni hosting, where she asked questions and then they opened it to fans. I've kind of summarised the things I haven't seen mentioned over and over, but I don't frequent the subreddit anymore or use TikTok, so there might be overlap. In any case, it's long. Settle in. I've sectioned it into plot/character relevant first, then themes and interesting facts about her and her writing. Basically, you all came with me. 💗

• In book three (and every book thereafter) we'll be going to more and more new places. She specifically worded it as "watching the map expand" whether that's significant or not, I don't know. (I was thinking Isle Kingdoms for OS, but maybe that's just my wishful thinking).

• She implied Jack will have a reason (explained) for uh...being a power-hungry prick? lol

• She's hella defensive of Dain, which I love. #DainApologistsClub 😌 Some highlights include:

"You guys give Dain so much shit for the same thing Xaden does. You really do and you're so fast to forgive Xaden and not Dain. Why? Is it because he's hot?"

And, "when push comes to shove, all Dain did—yes he violated her boundaries, as does Xaden—but all he did was trust his dad when his best friend no longer spoke to him. That's it."

"When Dain looks at her (in the interrogation chamber) and says 'if you had just told me, none of this would have happened', he's not just talking about the interrogation, he's talking about Liam, he's talking about if she had just trusted him (in Fourth Wing) it never would have happened." 😢

• She was asked about Liam's appearance in the interrogation chamber and definitively put to rest any signet theories involving that. "She's so alone in that moment and...I don't read fan theories but sometimes they reach my ears; she's completely disconnected from her magic in that moment, she can't even reach out for Tairn or Andarna, which are the bonds that are actually most important to her. She can't reach out for Xaden. And that's the one person who would have prevented that from happening the last year, so it's natural that's who her mind would summon."

• She's thought about a spin-off series, but she's just trying to survive this series.

• Someone asked her if there'd be any redemption and romance for Jack Barlowe and honestly, thanks guys, I don't think she's ever coming back to this country 💀 ("Are you getting enough sleep? Uh...I mean, from his prison cell maybe? No.")

• Someone asked "what is Garrick's signet and why hasn't it been shown yet?" (shoutout to this girl, she's the real MVP) to which Rebecca said "it's very much in book three, I love it."

• Someone asked about the orange dragons and unpredictability re: Amber, Jack, Varrish and then Imogen and Brennan. Rebecca said some dragons might look for traits like their own and some look for balance because it's a partnership; and that Brennan as a strategist needed that little bit of unpredictability in his life (lol, I think he got it).

• She didn't always plan for Violet to have two dragons. Originally it was going to be one (Tairn) and the editor had hoped that she would sway towards a weaker, smaller dragon and she thought that was a little too close to Abraxos in ToG, and so they compromised and gave her both. She also went on to say she doesn't like overpowered heroines and since Tairn is extremely powerful, Andarna balanced that out. (I'm not...I'm not sure how that works out? But that's what was said.)

• We are definitely going to find out more about the original six (and Lynette asked if that was a spin-off possibility and was shushed, so she's thought about it at least, but I get the idea she's thought about a lot of possibilities 😂)

• There's no timeframe for the release of the final two books.

• Someone asked if Violet's dad was Malek to which she was kind of shocked. He's not a god, guys. And low-key I JUST WANT TO KNOW HIS NAME. 😤

• On Sgaeyl: "You do (get more of her) but holy crap is she pissed. So—I'll tell you that about Onyx Storm—she is really, really mad at Xaden and she's not exactly speaking to him at the moment. So it's hard for her to speak into that bond when she's not speaking to him." 💔

• She was asked about the Violet dated Halden theory (which was fucking hilarious because the poor girl misspoke and asked if Xaden dated the prince and we were all really confused about which TikToks the poor thing had seen (note to self: consider cam/xaden), anyway after we got to the bottom of that, Rebecca replied, "I think you should read the third book." Which I'm taking to mean, the man is making a damn appearance and we're gonna find out for ourselves 👀 Hey, if I'm lucky maybe we'll even find out his surname

• Finally she said she has EP on the Amazon series, they've all been exceptionally protective of it and that she's happy with how it's going (they're not near casting yet and she doesn't want to really comment on that ever, to leave each role open to as diverse a cast as possible). She said the production team has come to the signings in LA to meet readers and see what they love and are passionate about when it comes to the series to make sure that's honoured.

"Like I mean, I've seen certain...like what can I say without getting tackled to the ground? Let's just say they've already taken steps to make sure that what you guys love about the story is envisioned and that it's not run amok. And I'm very happy with it, they're super protective of it." Which could just be me reading into it, but the first place my brain went was the dragons 👀🐉 and the CGI or whatever.

• She was asked about where the inspiration for the universe came from and she said that when her Entangled decided they were going to do romantasy they asked her for five pitches and Fourth Wing was one of them (she won't say what the others were because she might still write them someday). She said she likes the fated mates trope but she wondered what that would look like if the dragons were the ones mated, not the humans and the humans who couldn't stand each other were forced to be around each other because of this. 

• Her first ever book was romantasy but it didn't sell

• She's never really written enemies to lovers before.

• She likes found family themes because she was raised in a military family and moved around a lot, so that makes it hard to keep in touch with your extended family, and after she married her husband and became a military wife, it was their found family that was there for her—it was her found family who helped her move her house, who sat with her when her husband was injured in Iraq, etc, so she thinks it's very important to show that your family is also the people you choose and that can be just as strong as any blood tie.

• She was asked (by Lynette) why she wanted to show death and the reality of war and she said, "I've been surrounded by it. My husband's been at war since 2003, he spent 22 years in the army, first as a 19 Delta cavalry scout and then ten years as an apache pilot and we buried our friends. And I saw what it did to him, and I saw what it did to our friends, I saw what it did to our children, to us, and I love being able to examine it from a fantasy perspective just because I think fantasy gives us a unique environment from which to critique our own world by viewing it through the lens of another. And I've always delved into those themes as to why we do this to each other and where is there hope to stop it?"

• As an author her favourite scenes in Fourth Wing were the dagger stealing scene (very important to their chemistry and romantic development—"she's the only person he's taught ever, how to actually kill him") and the first kiss scene.

In Iron Flame it was the interrogation scene and how that ends with Dain and Xaden and everything coming together.

When asked about a similar scene from Onyx Storm that elicited the same strong emotion from her she said "you're not gonna like it" and that's it 💀

• She would consider writing fantasy again after she's done with the Empyrean world, maybe one of her other pitches, but she won't truly think about it until she's survived this one.

• She spoke about the "kill your darlings" writing advice and how if you love a scene but it doesn't move the plot, you've gotta cut it, and how she did that with the final scene in Fourth Wing, which was originally 7k words of Violet POV pulling information out of Xaden.

• When asked about fan theories she actually said something I found a little sad. "I don't listen to fan theories. One, I'm not on TikTok—it's a little bit more important for me to be alive than to listen to what other people think they know about me, and two, I don't ever want fan theories to bleed into my writing."

What I read in July!

Being on holiday for a couple weeks helped here.

Loved The Burgess Boys, Strout is unbelievable at creating real people, her books are just so compelling. This was more just sad rather than the hopefulness of some of her others, but loved it.

Don’t Look Now was enjoyable, but a rare case of the film being better. Some other good stories in here too,

Powering through Narnia with my 5 year old, we both thought The Silver Chair was really weird, but there was some good stuff in it, primarily the giant castle and the collapsing underworld. Alan was more than usually unhelpful in this one.

Listened to the audiobook of The Witches while driving through Alberta on hols, it’s a bit less fun once the mouse transformation happens, but such a sweet ending

I’m sure I’ve read Animal Farm before at school, but that was a loong time ago. It’s fucking great! Obviously. Found an 80s Folio Society edition very cheap in a local shop with Quentin Blake illustrations.

Hot Milk was great and weird and funny, following a slightly aimless young woman who is accompanying her mother to Spain for a cure to an illness that she’s patently making up for some reason. I bought this in 2016 and only just read it.

The Hole was also v weird, reminiscent of Murakami, liked it a lot. I’m fond of the detached, quiet style of a lot of Japanese fiction.

Didn’t like this Pratchett very much. I never read the Tiffany Aching books when I was deep in my Discworld phase (96-06?), liked the first one a lot but this didn’t connect with me

The demon brothers as babies

So it was a regular ol day Solomon was over at HoL and the brothers were screaming and arguing a little bit more than usual which is weird cus it's usually not all seven of them arguing so Solomon gets the great idea to use a mystery spell and turn them all into something random but he does it without telling them...you were onboard because they need to shut the hell up they've been arguing for hours on end.so without warning Solomon whispers his spell and all the brothers poof away.you and Solomon gets scared for a quick second because you don't know where they are but you suddenly hear the loud cries of....baby leviathan hidden under his over sized clothes.you two originally planned to keep it secret.but after 30 minutes or so diavolo gets worried because lucifer hasn't answered his texts and thats so weird he never takes more than 40 seconds.so he heads over to HoL to see you and solomon dealing with seven very unamused babies.and somehow barbatos luke and simeon end up at HoL too with the babies. You guys knew how to turn them back but you decided that they could spend a week or two as babies so that's what they did.

Lucifer

He's a quiet baby never really crying unless there's something really wrong but he's also very specific about how he wants things.he wants his bottle cold but not too cold but he wants his bath water warm but not warm.hes just calm lil guy.forbid anything be wrong from how he wants it he's gonna scream and cry he won't stop until the problem is fixed.if you are someone he's fond of (like simeon and diavolo) he'll blow you little kisses.dont let him see any of his brothers upset he doesn't not like seeing them upset it hurts his feelings.if theres a problem you can't solve he knows what to do.one time you made baby asmo mad and he was side eyeing you the rest of the day

Mammon

He's a Velcro baby please don't put him down or he's going to cry.dont move away from him,don't let anybody else hold him (for some unknown reason he will let barbatos and Luke hold him without problem)he's relatively normal baby just don't separate yourself from him...he has separation anxiety.dont wear jewelry around him he will pull it take it and chew it.hes so cuddly tho he loves forehead kisses.but don't do too much he'll push you away. He will watch over baby belphie while he sleeps to make sure hes safe

Leviathan

He's a Velcro baby just like mammon but he will let anybody hold him.he cries more often than not.he just won't stop crying he's like full time cry baby.other than that he's the sweetest baby out of all the brothers (being rivaled with beel and asmo)he will blow you kisses and clap for you.he's really cuddly just don't move his around too frequently he's used to staying in one place for a while.he really likes bath time you have to bribe him to get out water.he and mammon do that little thing where they pat their hands together it's really cute

Satan

He's cool it's just easy to make him mad.you don't do the airplane motion when feeding him smashed fruits he will throw the whole bowl at you and kick you.he won't cry unless he's hurt.but for the life of any life form near don't make him upset babies have strength like no other. When reading book for him to sleep he wants to sit in your lap and look at pictures or flip the pages.wont wear clothes unless it has a cat on it (unfortunately you had to learn the hard way and he bit you) don't let him near baby Lucifer or he'll pull his hair and you basically have to keep them separated

Asmodeus

Bro is such a sweetheart and a cutie pie it makes you want to cry he will let anybody hold him but his favorites are simeon and solomon.do not get food on his face or anything relatively messy get on him or he will have fit like full on screaming and biting.hes a clean baby so it's not very hard to clean him up.other than he's okay with everything else.he does little dancie dance when he's happy.helps clean baby beels face after he finished eating.

Beelzebub

He is very sweet and calm just don't let him get hungry or let him near his brother's while they eat he will take their snacks,well not belphie he will spare his snacks.the only things that make him made are being separated from belphie, not feeding him and seeing belphie upset. Anything else and he doesn't really care.he cant stay in the same place he likes to move around just as long as baby belphie is with him. often stealing snacks from Levi because he knows he won't fight he'll just cry.

Belphegor

He's always sleeping but the second you move beel from him he's awake and crying.he gets cranky easy so just let him have his sleep until it's time for feeding time or bath time. other than that he just sits there staring into space or playing with beel (they have a giant ball and they like to push it to eachother back and forth) he really only lets you and Luke hold him he does not like being moved around. he likes to cuddle tho and over all he just doesn't give a damn. He likes to sit with baby Satan while you read for them

When all of them transformed back into adults they were all in your bed and Satan and mammon were on the floor, Levi was on your chest,asmo was holding your leg Lucifer and beel were nuzzled next to you and beel was above your head and when they all woke up it was super awkward

"uhhh why the hell are we all in here"

"better question weren't we just arguing and then we blacked out"

"and why am I in a footed onesie with airplane on it"

You explain to them and they get really embarrassed and hide for the rest of the day

𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝟏 Part 2

I believe Satan is a sucker for old school romance, you can't tell me otherwise.

He loves the idea of sending each other love letters and poems.

He often writes about you, by often I mean everytime he writes, it's about you.

Satan even uses an ink pen and paper, his penmanship is extraordinary.

He isn't really into romance novels, but in some of his mystery/murder-mysterys there is romance

You've read a handful of Satan's books, plus your own collection.

You've recently started reading an older Novel, it's written very poetic, the main characters have started exchanging small love notes to one another.

That gave you the most brilliant idea, you'd start writing notes to Satan, leaving them on his book marks and on the inside cover of his new novels.

Satan is very witty, it takes a lot to make him get flustered, but the first note he received from you, he blushed.

You've never been one to openly talk about how you are feeling, you express yourself in different ways, such as gift giving or quality time. You've also noticed Satan has a hard time expressing himself, instead resorts to poetry and writing love letters to you.

You are currently sitting in the HoL library, your current novel sitting on your lap. You messed with the spoon in your luke warm tea while reading the poetic lines. You smiled as the main characters declared their love for each other, a warm feeling flooding in your chest.

You are desperately waiting for Satan to come back from his meeting with Diavolo and his brothers, wanting to see his face when the little folded piece of paper slips out from his new book.

It took you quite a long time to think of this note, it's a poem. It probably sounds lame next to Satan's poetry, you've read famous poets work and they are nothing compared to The Avatar of Wraths'.

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, the Library door opens. Satan gave a small smile, his teeth aren't showing it's just a small curve of his lips.

"Hello Kitten"

He leans down and kisses your forehead rather gently before grabbing his book and sitting next to you. You instinctively stretch your legs out into his lap, his slender fingers brushing against the skin of your ankle and shin.

Satan uses his other hand to open his book, and just as you planned the small piece of paper slowly falls into his lap against your legs. You shyly hide behind your book, pretending to read. You could feel his chest and torso rumble while he read the poem to himself.

It's hard to remember what you wrote, the adrenaline making you loose your memory and only focus on now.

You do remember how hard you thought about all the write words, and what kind of poem it would be. To make his heart flutter the way he makes yours leap and soar. To make him feel the tingling sensation that spreads into your finger tips when you feel yourself falling in love more and more.

Goosebumps erupted on your skin, his hands gliding further up your legs before gripping under your knees and bringing you into his lap.

Your nose was pressed to headband of your book, the delightful smell of the old paper pages filling your nose. Your cheeks are on fire, you could feel the tingling of the blush spreading down your neck and to your ears.

Satan could only chuckle and remove the book from your face and set it on the sofa beside him. His hands set themselves on your hips, his glowing green eyes shining like brightest star in a dark night.

He gently kissed you, his hands moving to cup your face and rub your cheek bones. The kiss was full of love and passion, slow and steady. Both of your hearts pounding in your chest, skin on fire from each others touch.

He pulled away and hugged you, his head rested against your neck and shoulder. Your chest fluttered, your heart was in your throat as Satan's lips brushed against your pulse then he spoke.

"I love you"

I strongly think Asmo designs clothes, and you are his muse and model.

He absolutely loves when you agree to be his inspiration.

And he also loves when you let him take your measurements. He likes how your body feels in his hands.

Asmo is very observant, it doesn't seem like it cause he's utterly obsessed with himself. But he knows everything about everyone. (Gossip King)

He especially knows every detail about you, you decide if that's creepy or sweet.

He absolutely loves when you tease him when working, it gives him excitement!

"MC, My darling muse I need your beauty." Asmo falls against his bed next to you, his delicate skin pressed against his silk pillowcase. You hum setting your phone down and moving his hair away from his eyes the way he likes. He smiled looking at you with stars in his eyes.

"What are you thinking and what was your inspiration?" You asked leaning on your arm. Asmo was quiet, his eyes scanning your face and down your body.

"You are always inspiration Darling." He smiled before hoping out of his bed and opening his fabric closet. You giggled and stood next to your boyfriend admiring the hundreds of fabrics.

"Stand over here." He points to the large wood box coated in glitter and pink paint. You nodded slipping off your clothes, leaving only your undergarments.

"MC, you devious human." Asmo giggled, suddenly appearing behind you. His slim hands glided around your body adjusting the measuring tape at your hip. "Always so beautiful..".

Your skin erupted with goosebumps, your shoulders shaking with a slight shiver at his touch. He giggles, he nails running over you rub cage.

"Hold still MC, or my measurements will be wrong." He pressed gently kisses along your skin, your face was rosy staring down at his thick, pink hair.

"Asmo, the tape is loose." You teased watching him adjust the tape.

"You little Minx.." He bit the soft flesh of your hip making you yelp. He giggled loudly before walking over to his sowing machine and writing your measurements on his note pad.

You reached down for your clothes but his voice stopped you, "Keep them off Love, I still need more measurements." His smile was sweet, but devilish.

God, he loved looking at you. So comfortable in his presence, just helping him gives him joy he hasn't had since the fall. You help him in more ways then one. And he loves you more than anything, including himself. And he never lets your forget that.
