Femslash Ships to Get to Know Me

As I figured she would, Annie (@udaberriwrites) went and tagged me for the other half of my list! You can find the M/M post over here~

**Rules**: Name at least five (but no upper limit) femslash (F/F) ships you love. Each from a different fandom.

1 - Twilight & Life and Death

I'd be quite remiss if I didn't mention the two femslash ships I'm writing right now - Rosalie/Eleanor (Elle) and Alice/Jessamine (Mina)! Like with the slash pairs I'm writing in that world, Carlisle/Beau and Edward/Mike, I didn't ship them at first (despite being the femslash version of canon pairs)... but as I wrote on, I ended up loving them!

2 - Teen Wolf

Well, my undisputed femslash OTP is Allydia (Allison/Lydia), and I love them so much that they inspired how I went about writing the above sapphic vampire ships! Also, I almost chose Teen Wolf instead of Twilight/Life and Death for my worldbuilding concept, and if I had, I'd be writing Allydia and my slash OTP, Steter, right now.

3 - Fire Emblem Three Houses

There are quite a few femslash FE3H ships I love, but my favorite is definitely Edelthea (Edelgard/Dorothea). In fact, three years ago, I started writing a Beauty and the Beast AU and it was supposed to include both Edelthea and Ferdibert (Hubert/Ferdinand) as the main ships, but that plan went bust when I left the fandom soon after >.>

4 - Puella Magi Madoka Magica

Oh, my love, MadoHomu (Kaname Madoka/Akemi Homura)! This pair of tragic lesbians really has my heart. I remember being stuck on them for months after I finished watching the anime... and honestly, I saw the potential for the ship to be written in an even darker manner, though it's not something I found all that often in the fandom.

5 - Ace Attorney

Salty and Momo might be shocked, but I've shipped FranMaya (Franziska von Karma/Maya Fey) for quite a while! They were the second ship I fell into after Narumitsu, in fact... but I will say that Momo's way of writing that pair definitely had me falling more into the pair than I had before! I'm also a major fan of Mia Fey/Lana Skye - there's just something powerful about that duo~

Huh... I can't pin out as many similarities between my femslash ships as I could with my slash ships. All those ladies have some dark stuff going on... but unlike with some of the slash ships, the dark and/or ambiguous stuff is more in the surroundings than the dynamic itself.

Oh, but they all have that magic/supernatural component to them! Vampires in #1, werewolves and banshees in #2, magic in #3, magical girl stuff in #4, and spirits and possession in #5, so...

not related to the topic but I also hate the weird fixation with buff mean masculine lesbians in here? Feels less like theyre actually interested in them as people and more like theyre part of a fantasy in where someone is mean to everyone EXCEPT you because you're special and can fix them? hmmm i think we are kinda adjacent but not entirely the same thing. its not about masculinity where i see it, just any woman who is strong and confident in herself in any way. i see it with butches, goth girls, fem-dommy types, and even just like. confident business ladies. all traits that apply to me personally so major salt in the wound dfghfdg

it's just any woman who is self-assured, confident, and takes charge, but there is an occasional focus on 1. muscles and/or 2. meanness/sharpness. look at the tumblr sexywoman bracket, for instance--almost ALL of them are "fierce" women, where fierce can mean a multitude of different but semi-related things.

i don't really mind the... "mean to everyone except me" fantasy because that is also relevant to my experience. my first love was a female friend. we were only eleven when i confessed to her. she told me, matter of factly, that she knew. and when i asked her why, she said, "when someone yells at everyone, but doesn't yell at you, it's easy to figure out you're special."

to this day that's kind of my favourite part of falling in love. when i notice myself going soft. it's exhilarating and scary and lovely. i love that there is one beautiful girl who can completely undo my abrasive edge, and she does it by loving the shape of it. i do not NEED to soften myself around her, but because she doesn't care, i feel safe enough to. it's the same reason i let her take care of me when i'd be prickly and upset if most others tried. it's special, and i love that she gets that side of me.

that fantasy doesn't irritate me, although you're right, sharp women "going soft" for their one special person shouldn't be a requirement of them being loved. but that's not really what i get angry about.

what i'm angry about is, like i said... the women who thirst over "omg queen step on me" types would literally not even talk to us irl. they would not date us. i am a mean woman, and i know mean women, and we all seem to have this similar experience where girls are too intimidated by us or think we are out of their league or wouldn't be interested, when half of us WANT to date a soft normie and listen to her talk about her bulbasaur plushie collection or some shit. but they wouldn't actually love us, or talk to us, half of them are twitterbrained and think we're abusive!!! no joke, i was literally talking to someone who was thirsting after franziska von karma and claiming that "being prone to anger makes you abusive" IN THE SAME TWEET THREAD.

it's just all so disheartening. angry women can be some of the most loving, most romantic, most wonderful souls. but we're not destined to be loved as much as we are destined to be conceptualized and thirsted after and it just, hurts man.

the sexywoman poll especially felt so goddamn cruel to watch happen. i resemble more than half of those women, or related to them now and/or growing up. hundreds of thousands of notes. people don't even call me pretty, let alone want to date me. every day i feel so lucky i was able to score the babe that i did. before her i might as well have been invisible to other wlw--they did not want me, no matter how much i put myself out there.

For the Spooky Attorneys!AU, is there anything spooky about the Von Karmas (besides, y'know, that they're Von Karmas) or are they mostly baseline?

Good question! You know, I think you're right, and they are mostly baseline - it feels right for Manfred and Franziska. There might be a drop or two of something in there, just because that's how bloodlines tend to go over the generations, but nothing prominent enough to make a difference in their physicality or abilities. Manfred lived and died a baseline human, whether Franziska will or not is more up in the air. Not because of anything on her part, but because she keeps getting offers to get turned, join this pack, learn the arts of that coven... she's got an aesthetic and an attitude that makes her fit really well into this AU, and everyone wants her to be part of their club.

...this may be the AU where Franziska gets to have half a dozen girlfriends of varying spooky natures, because if anyone deserves a group of beautiful, besotted ladies loving her as the queen she is and wanting to protect and support her (as the situation calls for it), it's Franziska. This wouldn't be some badly-written harem trope, either, this would be a fully functional, carefully negotiated relationship, even if it's something along the lines of a friend group that happen to be all dating the same woman, and Franziska is fully in the know with this and not being manipulated or anything.

...well, that certainly took a turn I wasn't expecting it to (part of why I enjoy asks so much)! Can't say I'm upset, however, that would be a really fun group and relationship to flesh out and write sometime! Thanks for the ask! ^U^

And finally, the stars of our show -- not to mention the greatest dancers in the ballroom!

To recap the headcanon behind this drawing (Or...headlore?  Something like that?), Yuri grew up to be a talented freelance painter and married a wealthy art curator named Fumio.  For more detail about this adult life I’ve invented for her, visit this picture’s write-up.

So, what would a tender moment look like for this no-longer-maiden of mystery?  As seen in this drawing, few things are more enjoyable for her than an elegant couples’ dance, held in a spacious ballroom, with the most exquisite outfits, celebrating her and her husband’s anniversary.  She even got herself a beautiful new hairdo just for the occasion!

More enjoyable than that, however, is the tenderness she feels knowing whose hands it is she’s holding -- a man who, in addition to recognizing her unique talent and intelligence, loves her deeply and sincerely; not for her fame, her insightful knowledge, or her body type, but for who she is.  Needless to say, she treasures him (and vice versa) more than anything money can buy.

Meanwhile, the other dancers seem to be enjoying themselves as well.  The ladies just finished being spun around, hence why their dresses are flying outward.  Or is it floating?  Flitting?  Fleetly fleeing?  Whatever it is, that’s why they’re doing it.  : P

As I often do, I based their designs on characters I’m familiar with -- in this case, Ace Attorney characters!  What a surprise, am I right?

The lady on the left has a hairstyle reminiscent of Alita Tiala’s shiny bun...

...while the couple on the right resemble prosecutors Franziska von Karma and Simon Blackquill.

The gentleman on the left wasn’t inspired by anyone in particular, although I did base his hairstyle on my own.  His face kind of looks like mine, too, actually.

..........Weird.

I decided not to make them exact copies this time around; I changed Alita’s hair color and added some more on the sideburns, removed Simon’s ponytail, and made Franziska a blonde.  I’m not the first to do that, as it turns out.  X )

A couple other small details I’d like to point out are the walls, floor, and reflected ceiling lights, modeled after the room in this picture...

 ...and the painting in the hallway in the background, which is based on one found in Ib, entitled, “Fleeting Thoughts on a Moonlit Night.”

Oh yes, and one other minuscule detail -- Yuri’s earrings are shaped like eyes.  It turns out A Portrait of Markov is still her favorite book after all these years.  ; )

Kristoph: He received your message, and the one after that. The trial wasn’t over and though he had a responsibility to you as your significant other and to your soon to be born child as its father, he also had a responsibility to his client. He saw the trial through to the end and after it was resolved he drove himself to the hospital where he walked in to see you nursing your new baby. He didn’t bother apologizing, and you knew him too well to ask such a thing of him. Instead he sat down on the edge of the bed and silently looked at the infant in your arms. When a barely there grin appeared on his face, you sighed. It was nice to know he approved. 

Lang: The idea that pretty soon he’d have a little pup of his own (and yes he insisted on referring to the baby as a pup), thrilled Lang. He was making his own pack, so to speak, and he was over the moon about it. What he hadn’t counted on was getting injured while apprehending a fugitive and being transported to the emergency room. You tried to call him but couldn't seem to reach him and had to get to the hospital on your own. The receptionist tilted her head as she checked you in and said, “Lang? That’s funny. A Mr. Shi-Long Lang was checked into the ER earlier. He a relation of yours?” Your eyes widened at that and you told the receptionist that he was your husband and you had been trying to get a hold of him all afternoon. She told you that he had been taken into surgery for a quick minor operation and offered her apologies. You both knew his chances of being there for the birth were slim to none. The baby however, didn’t seem to eager to enter the world without the presence of its father and so your labor went on for some time. Right as you finally reached a point where you’d be able to push, the door flew open and Lang rolled in on a wheel chair, hospital gown still on, and made his way over to you. “I’m sorry,” he said. “Don’t be. You’re alive and you’re here. That’s all that matters,” you replied. 

Godot: He heard about the birth and he wanted nothing more than to be there...but given that he was a fugitive and was locked away in his own hospital room due to his failing health, that hadn’t been an option. He sighed, feeling guilty at the knowledge that you were so close yet still out of his reach and that he had no one to blame but himself for this scenario. The door to his room opened and he lifted his head just enough to catch sight of you and your daughter. “How?” “I snuck away when my nurse wasn’t looking,” you stated, “I figured you deserved the chance to meet your daughter.” You slowly walked up to Godot and sat beside him on the bed. You angled your arms so he could see the chubby infant in your grasp and he smiled at the sight of her. “Why is she wearing blue?” “Because I knew you wouldn’t be able to see her as well in the pink.” Godot nodded, an appreciative look in his eyes as one of his hands gently stroked up and down your spine. The other caressed his daughter’s face and he allowed himself to cry a little as she squirmed and cooed. “Have you named her?” “No. She’s our daughter. I figured we could do that together.” “Alright, any thoughts?” “I had one,” you said, “I hope it won’t bring back to many emotions...but I was thinking Mia.”  Godot froze, his gaze unfocused. He was silent and still and you worried that you had ruined the moment. When you saw him smile, tears in the corners of his eyes, you sighed in relief. “Mia. A beautiful name for a beautiful girl,” he said, “My beautiful little Mia.” 

Gumshoe: He hurried out of the court house as soon as his part in the trial was over, and ran toward the curb. In his haste he ran straight into Prosecutor von Karma who looked less than pleased at the collision. “Watch where you are going!” she yelled causing Gumshoe to apologize. “And just where are you going in such a hurry?” She asked, a frown on her face. “My wife, she’s gone into labor and if I don’t get a cab soon, I won’t make it in time,” Gumshoe said. Franziska arched a brow before rolling her eyes and marching back toward the curb. “Well, Scruffy, aren’t you coming?” she asked as she stood next to the limo she had arrived in. “Huh?” “It is completely unacceptable for you to be late to the birth of your own child, Scruffy. Now get in the limo so we can prove to your wife that you are capable of being a perfect husband and father instead of a foolish oaf.” Gumshoe looked as if he were about to cry but managed to keep himself composed long enough to rush to the car and clamber into the limo after Franziska. When the limo pulled up to the hospital entrance, both Franziska and Gumshoe made their way, as quickly as possible, to your room. You were surprised to see Franziska, but knew better than to ask. After the baby was born, Gumshoe held her in his arms, tears of joy falling down his cheeks. Eventually, he offered Franziska the opportunity to hold her and when the prosecutor took the baby she gave an approving grin. “She’s perfection,” Franziska stated causing both you and Gumshoe to beam in pride.

Pearl stands in front of the burger joint where Mystic Maya had scheduled a date with the snobby whip lady. It took some convincing, but her cousin had been cajoled into waiting behind for no more than fifteen minutes. Phrases to make sure she says march back and forth in her mind as she waits.

Franziska smooths her skirt for the fifth time since getting out of her car and checks her appearance with her phone camera one last time. She wants to bite her lip, but ruining her lipstick wouldn’t do. Not right before a date.

She’s early.Is it too early?

She smooths her skirt a sixth time, adjusts the cuffs of her button down blouse for the third time, and takes a deep breath. You can do this. Von Karmas don’t back down. Von Karmas can handle burger dates with beautiful women.

She rounds the corner, but pauses when she sees Pearl. Cold fear grips her stomach. She’s late! She has to be late and Maya sent Pearl out to look for her and yell at you for being late and you’re the worst girlfriend ever and worthless and…!
