Love Story
Written By: Taylor Swift
Artist: Taylor Swift
Released: 2008 (re-recorded 2021)
Alternate version included: 1989 World Tour pop version, 2015
Taylor was inspired to write “Love Story” when she was going through a difficult situation with a boy she liked, whom she wasn’t “officially” dating. She chose to portray the story of Romeo and Juliet in the song, because she felt like she could relate. The lyrics talk about disapproval against the relationship, and her desire to go somewhere far away with him, and escape the people who look down on them. “Love Story” peaked at #1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs, and at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100, just weeks after its release. The song’s music video was described as timeless, by Swift. The video won the CMT Music Awards for “Video of the Year,” as well as “Female Video of the Year.” In February 2021, “Love Story” became the first official re-release from Taylor’s back catalog following contractual disputes with Scooter Braun. It marked the beginning of a new chapter in her career as she sought autonomy and freedom from what she perceived as a manipulative business relationship.
[Verse 1] We were both young when I first saw you I close my eyes and the flashback starts I'm standing there On a balcony in summer air See the lights, see the party, the ball gowns See you make your way through the crowd And say, "Hello" Little did I know [Pre-Chorus] That you were Romeo, you were throwing pebbles And my daddy said, "Stay away from Juliet" And I was crying on the staircase Begging you, "Please don't go," and I said [Chorus] Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone I'll be waiting, all there's left to do is run You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess It's a love story, baby, just say, "Yes" [Verse 2] So I sneak out to the garden to see you We keep quiet 'cause we're dead if they knew So close your eyes Escape this town for a little while, oh, oh [Pre-Chorus] 'Cause you were Romeo, I was a scarlet letter And my daddy said, "Stay away from Juliet" But you were everything to me I was begging you, "Please don't go," and I said [Chorus] Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone I'll be waiting, all there's left to do is run You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess It's a love story, baby, just say, "Yes" Romeo, save me, they're trying to tell me how to feel This love is difficult, but it's real Don't be afraid, we'll make it out of this mess It's a love story, baby, just say, "Yes" [Post-Chorus] Oh, oh [Bridge] And I got tired of waiting Wondering if you were ever coming around My faith in you was fading When I met you on the outskirts of town [Chorus] And I said, "Romeo, save me, I've been feeling so alone I keep waiting for you, but you never come Is this in my head? I don't know what to think" He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring, and said "Marry me, Juliet, you'll never have to be alone I love you and that's all I really know I talked to your dad, go pick out a white dress It's a love story, baby, just say, 'Yes'" [Outro] Oh, oh, oh Oh, oh, oh 'Cause we were both young when I first saw you

I Was Born to Love You
Written By: Freddie Mercury
Artist: Freddie Mercury
Released: 1985
Cover included: Queen, 1995
“I Was Born to Love You” is a 1985 song by Freddie Mercury, and was released as a single and on the Mr. Bad Guy album. After Mercury’s death, Queen re-worked this song for their album Made in Heaven in 1995, by having the other members play their instrumental parts over the original track transforming the song from a disco song to a rock song. The Queen version from the Made in Heaven album also includes samples of Mercury’s ad-lib vocals taken from “A Kind of Magic” and from “Living On My Own”.
[Chorus Intro] An amazing feeling coming through I was born to love you With every single beat of my heart Yes, I was born to take care of you Every single day of my life [Verse 1] You are the one for me, I am the man for you You were made for me, you're my ecstasy If I was given every opportunity I'd kill for your love, hey So take a chance with me, let me romance with you I'm caught in a dream, and my dream's come true (It's) so hard to believe this is happening to me An amazing feeling coming through [Chorus] I was born to love you With every single beat of my heart, yeah I was born to take care of you, huh Every single day of my life [Verse 2] I wanna love you, I love every little thing about you I wanna love you, love you, love you (Born) to love you, (born) to love you, yes (born) I was born to love you (Born) to love you, (born) to love you every single day of my life I was born to take care of you every single day of my life [Instrumental Break] [Bridge] My life! Hey hey! Every single day of my life [Chorus] I was born to love you With every single beat of my heart Yeah, I was born to take care of you, honey Every single day of my life

To this day, No band has come close to Queen’s magnificent command of rocks pomp and circumstance.
“As a live band, Queen kind of kicked everybody’s ass!” - Taylor Hawkins
Can you imagine a band more improbable than Queen?
“Who but they would think it a good idea to sweep high-operatic arias over low-down heavy metal? To plunk an outrageously camp singer in front of a balls-to-the wall rock & roll band? In short, to take the noble risk of looking ridiculous by mixing the most florid sounds with the most guttural. And yet it turned out to be a very good idea, indeed.”
(Extracted from Jim Farber’s article attached)
What an incredible achievement for one of the worlds biggest selling bands and so deserving. It’s a fact that Queen’s albums had more weeks on the UK charts than any band including The Beatles !
Queen is one of the most popular, ambitious and beloved classic rock bands ever.
The group created an elaborate, perfection-minded sonic approach informed by classical flourishes, ornate piano passages, stacked harmonies, layered guitars and theatrical arrangements.
The band have described their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame - as a "high honour".
Brian May told BBC News Online that he was "very, very happy" at the award, which is given to artists who have had a "significant impact" on rock 'n' roll.
The ceremony comes 10 years after the death of lead singer Freddie Mercury. Asked what he thought Mercury would make of the accolade, May said: "Freddie would go, 'Oh wonderful.'"
A Hall of Fame statement says that Queen are being given the honour because "in the golden era of glam-rock and gorgeously hyper-produced theatrical extravaganzas that defined one branch of '70s rock, no group came close in either concept or execution to Queen".
A band that mixed genres, crossed boundaries and with Freddie Mercury’s charisma, extraordinary stage presence and ideas for more elaborate recording techniques; these are some of the most memorable things about Queen’s success throughout the years, and many artists have admitted how much they have been inspired by Mercury and his influence on the band not to mention Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon as well.
Queen never stopped rocking hard, but its ambitions up to and even past the zenith of "Bohemian Rhapsody" were beautifully crafted and unapologetically bombastic. Even Queen's quiet sounded big, and its big was designed to shake the Earth -- and continues to thanks to the enduring stomp of "We Will Rock You."
Their specific vocal qualities allowed their songs messages to come across as authentic. Freddie’s impressive vocal range and unique sound coloured the lyrics perfectly and he brought the music to life. As fans, we emphasize with a lot of Queen’s music because the band is genuine and real and we feel the music in our soul. No other band has been graced with four exceptional musicians and song writers. It’s a fact, they all wrote number One hits!
Brian May once asked, in a song, "Who wants to live forever?" and Queen has created music that most certainly will. Timeless music that will stand the test of time.
Queen, the greatest band ever, true originals, unbeatable, unstoppable and Freddie Mercury, a PHENOMENAL musician, singer, songwriter, performer and front man! A Consummate Entertainer, One in a Million. No One Comes Close!
Congratulations! 🎉🥂✨💫
Long Live Queen... 👑
There’s a fabulous article in the comments and the induction is also directly below.

I don't understand their marketing plan and what demographics they want to target other than relying on fans. BTM is being added to pop playlists despite Louis posing as an indie artist. They had months before the new era to try to change his image a little bit and they didn't do anything, he remains isolated in the industry. Sorry if I'm wrong but I haven't seen artists like Dmas, Sam Fender or The Snuts talk about BTM. It's very clear that the indie niche doesn't see or treat him as an equal.
Yeah, anon, I kept hoping they would do something to start turning things around before a single—not the festival in 2021 or him in the studio for months or his impressive tour around the world reached outside the fandom bubble. One might argue it was better to wait for there to be new music to link to his name, but then, what are they doing now? It has all been essentially the same as in the past.
A couple good press interviews are only going to take you so far. If radio play is a problem—and it obviously is in the UK, why aren’t other avenues not being explored and why miss a chance to perform at The One Show, which had a nice interview? Then there was Lorraine: useless if not detrimental. And then? Nothing for days when it hasn’t been two weeks since the song was released. Even Louis’ accounts—active throughout tour, are dead? No end of tour post or about his biggest show to date, which he even mentioned in interviews? It doesn’t make sense.
The thing with Louis is that it goes beyond artistic erasure where people need to hear his music—and you can’t wait and hope for them to be inspired to check him out—there is an embedded negative bias to counter, belittlement that goes back to XF; years of disrespect, casual and expected. BMG should have made certain TodayFM played his song in full after granting them an interview, for instance. They shouldn’t allow two thirds of an interview to be about 1D and Freddie. They better keep that harrie DJ who is hosting one of the listening parties in check. If they don’t protect him, what’s the point?
There is a lot to overcome. It won’t change in a day, but it requires work—it won’t change with the same promo or even less.
I think with a good strategy you can target and reach different demographics simultaneously. With his background and the associations to his name, an ‘indie’ label is always going to be hard, but what you can’t do is undermine what progress is made in that direction with e.g. NME and AltPress with tabloid personality ‘promo’ that is damaging for any artist.
Listening parties for fans in random cities in the US will not expand his audience or keep his current fanbase engaged either. An international singer doing a meet and greet at a coffee shop? I still remember the Q102 Jingle Ball where he was the entertainment for the pre show instead of having him perform—Niall was headlining the actual show…
I hope to be wrong and there be much more good and beneficial promo to come. But UK has definitely been… bad.
To be fair, The Snuts did include his song in their playlist; Johnny from DMAs at least went to one of the shows and their account tweeted about it. Sam Fender would not be caught dead with him—but also for people who claim that Louis as an ‘indie’ artist wouldn’t do or get this or that: Sam celebrates charting, gets played on radio, has attended award shows and walked red carpets, etc.

976-EVIL (1988)
Tumblr media
Dial Up a Dose of Cheesy Goodness: A Review of 976-EVIL (1988)
Movie: 976-EVIL (1989) Genre: Horror, Comedy (unintentional) Year: 1989 Country: USA
Plot Twist (Spoiler-Free): Buckle up for a wild ride! Nerdy Hoax dials a 976 number for his "horrorscope," little realizing he's just connected with the devil himself. This mischievous demon grants Hoax's revenge-fueled wishes, but with hilarious (and deadly) consequences. Think "Beetlejuice" meets "The Exorcist," with a heavy dose of 80s cheese.
Acting: School Play Perfection (Not in a Good Way): Let's just say, thespian awards won't be raining down on this cast. The performances are delightfully wooden, with facial expressions ranging from "mildly constipated" to "slightly surprised." However, in its sheer awfulness, the acting becomes strangely endearing, adding to the overall camp factor.
Camerawork: Filmed with a Potato (Probably): The camerawork perfectly captures the essence of late-80s B-movies. Think shaky zooms, awkward close-ups, and lighting that fluctuates like a disco ball on overdrive. It's not exactly "cinematic," but it somehow adds to the movie's charm (or is that just Stockholm Syndrome?).
My Take: 1 Star (But for All the Right Reasons): Look, this movie is objectively bad. The plot is riddled with holes, the dialogue is cringe-worthy, and the special effects would make Ed Wood blush. But here's the thing: it's SO bad, it's good. It's a hilariously unintentional comedy, a nostalgic trip back to a simpler (and cheesier) time in cinema. If you're looking for a serious horror film, steer clear. But if you want a good laugh and a reminder that bad movies can be strangely entertaining, dial up 976-EVIL.
1 out of 5 star
Bonus Trivia:
Director Robert Englund is best known for playing Freddy Krueger in "A Nightmare on Elm Street."
The film's budget was a measly $500,000, but it grossed a whopping $6 million at the box office. Talk about devilish returns!
The original title was "Dial the Devil," but test audiences thought it sounded too serious. Thankfully, they went with the gloriously campy "976-EVIL."
Netizen Reception: Reviews are mixed, with some appreciating the unintentional humor and nostalgic value, while others find it painfully unwatchable. Ultimately, whether you love it or hate it, one thing's for sure: 976-EVIL is a movie you won't forget (or maybe you will, but it's worth a watch anyway).
So, should you watch it? If you're a fan of bad movies, cheesy horror, or just need a good laugh, then definitely. Just don't expect Oscar-worthy performances or a mind-blowing plot. But hey, at least it's short!

Flying High
As we go into the first international break of the season North End sit proudly at the top of the Championship table thanks to a 2-0 victory at the bet365 Stadium. No trophies are given out in the first week of September, of course, but points in the bag are always a huge bonus early on in the season. The win at Stoke came courtesy of two goals from Will Keane, one from the penalty spot, and some very solid defending by the whole Preston eleven late on in the game. The first period was a half of few chances but North End matched their previously unbeaten at home opponents and were good value for the 0-0 at the interval. After the break the North End moved up a gear and were rewarded after Holmes had been brought down and Keane slotted home from the spot. Just over five minutes later it was two with a superbly worked goal down the right. From then on North End dropped anchor but held on quite comfortably for the three points in front of almost 23,000 inside the Stadium.
Ryan Lowe made two changes from the side that beat Swansea at Deepdale last week with McCann and Whatmough coming in at the expense of Best and Holmes. Stoke started on the front foot getting the ball out to their wide men as quickly and as often as possible. Alan Browne had North End`s first chance and Stoke then almost conceded an own goal via Stevens. The home side were enjoying the majority of possession but North End were quite comfortable dealing with what the Potters had to throw at them. Will Keane was ploughing a lonely furrow up front but never stopped working the whole time he was on the field. Stoke had their best period of the game in the two minutes leading up to half time but North End saw then off and went in deservedly level at the break.
The manager decided to bring Duane Holmes on after the interval and it wasnt long before that tactical decision had worked wonders for the Whites. Early in the second half Holmes cut in from the right and as he weaved inside the box a trailing leg brought him down with the referee immediately awarding a penalty. Keane stepped up and smashed the ball down the middle, past Travers, to give North End the lead much to the delight of the 2,586 travelling fans in the away end. Six minutes later North End doubled their lead when a superb ball down the right hand side from Potts found Holmes behind the defender. The ex-Huddersfield man cut inside and laid it on a plate for Will Keane who converted from three yards out to make it two. North End clearly thought that two was enough and kept the visitors at bay for much of the rest of the game without Stoke really looking like they were going to beat Freddie Woodman. Despite a big majority of the late possession Stoke couldn`t find a way through and North End were taking the points back up the M6.
So a really good performance all over the Park from the boys and huge credit to the manager for the tactical switch at half time. For the second consecutive week Ryan Lowe`s changes have won North End the points and although Lowe has had his critics I think his tactics have been excellent so far this season especially when we have only got one senior striker fit. I suppose we can now look at the table with some comfort for a fortnight but when you are at the top everyone will want to knock you off. Plymouth will be the visitors to Deepdale in two weeks time and what a game that promises to be with Lowe`s old club looking to put one over on his new club. Let`s just hope the break does not knock us out of our stride and we can continue where we left off on Saturday and that is right at the top of the Championship table.

Bae Ji-hwan started as the first batter and center fielder in the 2023 Major League Baseball (MLB) visit game against the Kansas City Royals at Kaufman Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri, on the 29th (Korea Standard Time) and played with two hits and one run in five at-bats.
His season batting average increased from 0.237 to 0.240 (59 hits in 246 at bats).
The Pittsburgh Pirates were ranked in the order of Bae Ji-hwan (center fielder), Kibrien Hayes (third baseman), Andrew McCutchin (nominated hitter), Joshua Palacios (left fielder), Endy Rodriguez (catcher), Jack Swinsky (right fielder), Riover Peguero (second baseman), Alfonso Rivas (first baseman), and Alika Williams (shortstop). The starting pitcher is Johan Oviedo.
Kansas City faced off with M.J. Melendez (left fielder), Bobby Witt Jr. (shortstop), Freddie Perez (catcher), Michael Mash (second baseman), Nelson Velasquez (right fielder), Drew Waters (nominated hitter), Matt Beatty (first baseman), Matt Duffy (third baseman) and Kyle Isbel (center fielder). Greinke was the starting pitcher.
Attention was focused on the showdown between Bae Ji-hwan and Greinke. Greinke is a great pitcher with 224 wins in his career. In 2009, he experienced a brilliant career, winning the American League Cy Young Award, and once built the strongest 1-2-3 starting lineup in the LA Dodgers with Ryu Hyun-jin (Toronto Blue Jays) and Clayton Kershaw.
He is likely to enter the Hall of Fame after retirement, but he has been sluggish this season with 1 win, 12 losses, and an ERA of 5.28. It was a game that seemed to have a good chance for Bae Ji-hwan, a rookie this season.
Bae Ji-hwan, who started as the leadoff hitter in the top of the first inning, hit Greinke's 71.7 mph (115.4 km) curve and sent the ball next to the shortstop. Shortstop Wit Jr. flew himself but failed to catch the ball at once, and Bae Ji-hwan has already arrived at first base in the meantime.
Bae Ji-hwan, who took the lead again in the top of the third inning after scoring one run in the second inning, pushed a four-seam fastball toward his body in the second pitch and dropped the ball on the left-field line. Bae Ji-hwan, who ran as fast as he could after hitting the ball, reached second base with ease.
14th multi-hit this season. It was the 9th game since the Minnesota Twins match on the 19th and the 14th time this season. It was also the first time in 4 games since the Chicago Cubs match on the 25th. Bae Ji-hwan homered on a double by Hayes, a follow-up hitter.
He was able to dig home with ease when he hit a double by a follow-up hitter Hay. 42nd goal of the season.
After that, he couldn't get on base additionally. In the fifth inning, he stepped down with a grounder to second base, and in the seventh inning, he stepped down with a fly ball to center field against changed pitcher Taylor Hearn. In the ninth inning, Carlos Hernandez also stepped down with a ground ball to end the game.
The result was a clean sweep of Pittsburgh. Unlike Greinke's early dismissal with six hits, two walks, two strikeouts and two runs in 4⅔ innings, Pittsburgh starter Oviedo blocked the Kansas City lineup. He threw 112 pitches in nine innings and had only two hits. He won his first career shutout with two walks and five strikeouts. It's the eighth win (13 losses) of the season. The ERA was also lowered from 4.46 to 4.20.
Pittsburgh, which broke its second straight loss, maintained its fourth place in the Central League with 59 wins and 73 losses. On the other hand, Kansas City, which has lost four consecutive games, remained at the bottom of the AL Central District with 41 wins and 92 losses.

Today's Flipper Friday: Bally Bowl-O!
Made at the tail end of the sixties, this groovy game showcases the laid-back communion of the common folk at the local bowling alley. This includes, per one of the plastics, soon-to-be absolute musical legend Freddie Mercury. This styles Mercury as an icon in song, cat fancy, and, apparently, bowling. (Alternatively, that is not Freddie, but instead Joey from Friends.)
On the backglass, an incredibly exuberant bowler knocks down six pins (the location, or, really, the very existence of the other four are unknown) in front of three onlookers: two somewhat blue-skinned and one quite blue-haired. It appears they are lounging by the lane, though lounging on the floor at a bowling alley seems an unconventional choice. Just out of frame for the reclining, bluish duo, is also what appears to be a bare foot.
In a bowling alley.
Bowl-O is fairly straightforward: in order to do well at "bowling," one must score strikes. Strikes can be obtained in one shot, such as by hitting the lit top lane, or by managing to land in the kickout hole covered by a central, bowling-ball shaped plastic, or they can be earned by collecting all ten pin numbers on the upper playfield. Games of this ilk tend to have a "collect them all" method of earning strikes; even though awarding them as spares to the one-shot strikes would make sense thematically, spares are usually not considered in the game, rendering the distinction moot.
The game sports five score reels. The introduction of a fifth reel is touted as relatively new in the flyer for the game, proudly announcing the capability for "5-digit ego-building scores."
Of course, it also talks about getting "big pin-bowling bucks," so take the building ego at whatever value that slogan can be taken at.

The 5th Annual Derrick Sanskrit "Everyone's a Critic" Awards (part one: music and movies)
Tumblr media
(note: I have posted this thread on Twitter at the end of December for the past five years, but with that platform's future more dubious than ever, it makes sense to back up 2022's edition here)
It's the most wonderful time of the year! Time for the fifth annual Derrick Sanskrit "Everyone's a Critic" Awards for all the pop culture I thought was simply the best over the past twelve months.
There's so much, we're gonna slow-drip this year, so let's start with music...
Tumblr media
Bloc Party guitarist Russell Lissack’s solo EP is seventeen minutes of just fantastic collaborations, including a reunion with Pin Me Down bandmate Milena Mepris. Had this been a full LP, it would be way higher in the rankings.
Tumblr media
A top-to-bottom reworking of 2020’s New Symbols, this LP benefits from both two more years of Tom Vek’s reflection on his art as well as wider distribution on digital music platforms so people could actually hear it.
Tumblr media
Nine years after his debut LP, the French DJ proves his mastery of timeless synth anthems with this album that feels like the soundtrack to a long lost John Hughes movie about sexy computer hackers.
Tumblr media
It feels like cheating to include the soundtrack to a 2021 concert film in this list, but the album dropped in 2022 and it freaking rules so whatever. This is the sound of the Dan Greene Cinematic Universe.
Tumblr media
A mostly-instrumental album of lush chiptune soundscapes, this high-def volume of Australian electronic anthems begs the question “why aren’t we having another chip resurgence right freakin’ now?” Danceable, worldly, melancholic, and beyond.
Tumblr media
A timely reminder that indie rock can be snarky and clever without losing the charm of four-part harmonies and driving hooks. Like cherry red Doc Martens stomping through a field of sunflowers, The Beths show us how to suffer with a smirk.
Tumblr media
No album this year felt as immediately BIG as the sophomore effort from this English post-rock phalanx. It commands attention before curling up in a ball to hide at your feet and whisper deep dark secrets in your ear.
Tumblr media
Continuing her transformation from cloud rap to pop, Kilo Kish challenges conventions with this collection of toe-tapping bangers about societal woes, public image, self-worth, and the ills of consumerism, all framed within a retro arcade game.
Tumblr media
A punk album so specifically of its time without immediately dating itself by naming names. A concept album about running a punk band like a business that comes to its logical conclusion: in-fighting, ego clashes, bankruptcy, and thanking the sponsors.
Tumblr media
Simply the best breakup album in ages (sorry Swifties). Cutthroat and callous, honest and earnest, this math rock sophomore LP challenges pop song structure as much as relationships challenge the edges of individual identity.
Wasn't that so much fun? So many fantastic albums in 2022, such wonderful songs to sing and dance to. Good times.
And now, our second category... it's time to talk about MOVIES...
Tumblr media
The vainglorious adventures of an aspiring podcaster focusing largely on the culture clash between New York and Texas. Quite possibly the best performance ever from Ashton Kutcher.
Tumblr media
While this mock-rock-doc never reaches the parodic highs of Weird Al’s previous “UHF,” the extended Funny Or Die sketch carries heaps of charm with an all-star cast of comedy cameos.
Tumblr media
Easily the most unexpected film of the year, this holiday horror fusion brings all the delirious twists and turns you’d expect from the creator of “Too Many Cooks.”
Tumblr media
Simply the biggest, boldest, wildest action movie to date, RRR offers more spectacle per minute than Zack Snyder does in an hour, while still finding plenty of time to sing and dance.
Tumblr media
Jordan Peele’s third horror film forgoes shocks and scares in favor of slow burn dread with thoroughly enjoyable examinations of race, media, exploitation, and religion.
Tumblr media
This celebration of the power of art to question authority and buck societal norms poses the question “what if Freddy Mercury and Jimi Hendrix were best friends in feudal Japan?”
Tumblr media
Simply the most fun I had in a movie theater all year. A fast, stylish, star-studded action farce, like Guy Ritchie directing a script by the Coen Brothers, this film taught me more about Thomas the Tank Engine than my nephews ever will.
Tumblr media
Proving Knives Out wasn’t a one-off fluke, Rian Johnson delivers a whodunnit with bigger stakes, bigger stars, bigger spectacle, and bigger laughs. A covid-era mystery for Agatha Christie fans of any age.
Tumblr media
In their second feature, the Daniels have produced what feels like a once-in-a-generation iconic piece of cinema. Sweeping & grandiose, intimate & delicate, EEAAO is the sci-fi family immigrant tale we never knew we so desperately needed.
Tumblr media
The most I’ve cried in the theater since Toy Story 3. Marcel’s journey will melt the most frozen of hearts and make you believe that anything is possible with a positive outlook.

In chapter 13 of I Knew It All Along, James decides the best way to distract the press from… other things is to dye his hair blonde, which prolific gossip magazine In The Tea Leaves absolutely fall for, they publish several articles and in this chapter we see them invite their readers to ‘see page 8 for our countdown of all the best James Potter hair looks’ and I simply couldn’t resist writing that article and commissioning @yendts to illustrate with her wonderful James! This is the result, I love it a lot. Thank you so much Sydney, it was great working with you and I’m obsesseddd with the outcome!
Click for quality! Alt text for the article body is below the cut:
Puddlemere star Chaser (and all-round Keeper of our hearts) James Potter has never been one to shy away from changing up his look; from his colour-changing robes at the 2029 International Quidditch Awards to the ever-updated number of earrings he sports when off the pitch, James loves to experiment with his personal style.
His favourite thing to change up is his hair. We’ve seen it all from James, and it was about time somebody collated all that auburn-haired, Potter yumminess into one handy countdown! Do not fear, In The Tea Leaves has your back, and we present the definitive countdown of all the BEST James Potter hair looks*
*rankings based on a quick survey passed around the ITTL staff room, v scientific!
In at number five… admit it, you cried yourself to sleep mourning the loss of James’ hair the first time you saw this pic! We did too, but when we heard all of the Puddlemere lads buzzed their heads together to raise awareness and funds for Cerebrumous Spattergroit Research (after their dear friend and teammate Bradley Bell was sadly diagnosed in 2027) our hearts simply melted. Talk about a team effort! On his new hairstyle, James said on Owlstagram “I’ve never fully appreciated the exact shape of my skull before now - we love you Bradders!” He must have really liked it because James stuck with the ‘do for longer than most of his teammates - we think he most definitely pulls it off!
The boys raised a whopping 5000 galleons for the charity and were over the moon to learn that Bradley was set to make a full recovery.
Page 2
Up at number four is the infamous mullet which really split our office down the middle - there were lots of votes for it to take the top spot. James graduated from Hogwarts with this trendy ‘do and carried on rocking it when he first joined the Puddlemere development squad (awww baby James!) No doubt if trendsetter James did this now, it would immediately be known as a Jullet! (we would indeed take full responsibility for starting this) James, if you’re reading this, we think it’s time to bring this one back!
In the middle of our countdown is this sweet, curly look - doesn’t it make you want to ruffle James’ hair and tell him how gosh-darn cute he is! On Owlstagram, James said he was inspired by the Chudley Cannons’ unofficial mascot, his cousin Freddie’s labradoodle (his name is Gravy and we are all kinds of obsessed - see page 17 for pics!) which makes sense - they’re both absolutely adorable! To achieve this look at home, we recommend Fleamont’s hair-curling potion: it’s a splurge at 18 sickles a bottle but we tested five brands and it was by far the best quality!
Page 3
In second place on our countdown is this cool, classic look that James returns to time and time again, his quintessential style. We’ve seen him score match-winning goals with this hairstyle, grace the cover of Wizard’s Health, enjoy the occasional night out with his teammates and blow us all away on the red carpet at the Harpies charity ball. There’s something about the way the wind rushes through his fringe as he flies that has James going back to this hairstyle and all we can say is we agree! It’s a low-maintenance and cool choice for the wizard in your life - just ask for ‘The James Potter’!
And taking the top spot, to the surprise of pretty much no one, is the look that had us all brushing up on our blowdry charms! The middle parting, the sweeping fringe, that dreamy smile; this look secured James a spot on everyone’s bedroom wall (see page 12 for a pull out poster of this pic) including ours at ITTL!
Overall, we think it’s safe to say James Potter really can pull off anything and we can’t wait to see what he surprises us with next!
