The names of top 10 people in your line of succession are thrown into a hat. The name drawn will be the next monarch. Who do you hope it will be and why?
Hello! The current line:
Prince Charles, Duke of Richmond
Prince Robert
Princess Margaret
Princess Amelia, Duchess of Kent
Prince Arthur (son of Princess Amelia)
Lord Gregory Atherton (son of Prince Arthur)
Lord Lawrence Atherton (son of Prince Arthur)
Prince Frederick (Son of Princess Amelia)
Son of Prince Fredrick
Daughter of Prince Frederick
So most of this list people who no one knows! lol I would hope it would be Robert tbh I think he would make a great King, he is kind and compassionate (Everything his father thinks would make a terrible King!)
My non serious answer would be one of Princess Amelia's sons - totally change up the branch on the family where the crown sits and who knows what would happen!! There is definitely something interesting to me in someone being thrust into being monarch unexpectedly.

The Brandenburg Gate a Sight to Behold
The Brandenburg Gate, located west of the city of Berlin, is one of the main symbols of both the city and the country of Germany. When you visit Berlin, you will find this important national symbol and tourist attraction just west of the Pariser Platz. It is the former city gate and is the entrance to the Under den Linden, which is a boulevard of linden trees that at one time led to the city palace of the Prussian monarchs of the country. King Frederick William 11 of Prussia commissioned the building of this gate in the late 18 the century and it was built by Carl Gotthard Langhams who completed the project in 1791. Today it is one of the most famous landmarks in all of Europe.
Tumblr media
The design of this gate consists of five passageways between twelve Doris columns. Of these passageways, the ordinary citizens were only permitted to use the two outer ones. A Quadriga adorns the top of the gate. This is a chariot of four horses driven by Victoria, the Roman goddess of victory. If you have ever visited the Acropolis in Athens you will see similarities between the gateway to this ruin and the gate in Berlin. The gateway of the Acropolis provided the inspiration for the design in order to provide a semblance of Athens on the banks of the River Spree.
Throughout the centuries since it was built, the design of the gate has remained unchanged. It has played an important role in many of the events that shaped the history of Germany. Even though Napoleon confiscated the Quadriga and took it to France, it was returned after the Napoleonic Wars. The wreath of flowers around the head of Victoria was also replaced by the Iron Cross. Despite the devastation Berlin suffered during the Second World War, this gate was basically undamaged. What damage it did suffer was repaired after the war. The Quadriga, though, was completely destroyed during the war. It was recast and replaced in 1958.
It was incorporated into the Berlin Wall when it was erected at which time it symbolized the division of the country. When this wall came down, the gate remained and is now a symbol of national unity. It is the symbol of the reunification of East and West Berlin as well as the reunification of the country as a whole.
The gate was alone and isolated after the destruction of the Berlin Wall. Today it is part of the surrounding district. House Liebermann and House Sommer stand next to it. These buildings were designed by Josef Paul Kleihues to closely resemble that buildings that existed on this location prior to 1939. Other impressive buildings in this area include the Dresdner Bank, the French Embassy, the DG Bank and the Academy of Arts.
Visitors to the city can choose accommodations in the area of the famous gate as well with the luxurious Adlon Hotel on the site. This hotel is an highlight of the city of Berlin in its own right.

Q&A with Roger Williams
The author of the new book Frederick Watts and the Founding of Penn State tells us all about Watts and PSU’s agricultural beginnings.
Tumblr media
Frederick Watts came to prominence during the nineteenth century as a lawyer and a railroad company president, but his true interests lay in agricultural improvement and in raising the economic, social, and political standing of Pennsylvania’s farmers. After being elected founding president of The Pennsylvania State Agricultural Society in 1851, he used his position to advocate vigorously for the establishment of an agricultural college that would employ science to improve farming practices. He went on to secure the charter for the Farmers’ High School of Pennsylvania, which would eventually become the Pennsylvania State University.
What was the thinking behind so-called agricultural colleges in the 19th century? Why were they brought into being?
The movement to found agricultural colleges in the 1850s was part and parcel of a larger movement toward scientific agriculture—the effort to infuse traditional agricultural practices with scientific knowledge, particularly chemistry, to improve farming practices and productivity.
The agencies pushing for agricultural colleges were state agricultural societies, founded mainly in the 1840s and ‘50s to advance the lot of the American farmer. The United States was an overwhelmingly agricultural nation before the Civil War; indeed 85% of the population was rural and the thinking was that state and federal governments needed to do more to advance the lot of the farming community.
In Pennsylvania, the state agricultural was founded in 1851 and Frederick Watts of Carlisle was elected as its founding president. A lawyer, reporter for the state Supreme Court, private college trustee, railroad company president, and “gentleman farmer,” Watts’s greatest interest was agriculture. His lifelong cause was improving the economic, political, and social standing of Pennsylvania’s farmers—a huge constituency that he argued had been ignored and “left behind” by politicians and governmental officials.
Was Frederick Watts the true “father” of Penn State?
A few early historians used that term, although it has become somewhat antiquated by modern standards. The better term is prime mover, as he had many colleagues in the state agricultural society working with him toward the goal of establishing an agricultural college with a statewide reach.
But Watts certainly took the lead. He wrote the first business plan for the institution, drafted its charters (1854 and 1855), and served as founding president of the Board of Trustees for the Farmers’ High School (1855-74). He adroitly led the school as it was sited, built, and financed, opening for students in 1859. He hired the brilliant Evan Pugh as founding president, who with Watts quickly made it the first successful agricultural college in America. Most important, they secured the state’s designation as its land-grant college and fended off later attempts by legislative adversaries to remove the school’s exclusive claim to the land-grant fund.
What was the Land-Grant College Movement, and how did it affect Penn State?
This was the push to found colleges providing instruction in practical subjects—primarily agricultural and engineering—that would serve the “industrial classes” such as farmers, mechanics, laborers, tradesmen, etc. Most colleges before the Civil war were literary or classical institutional—small, religiously oriented, and focused on Latin, Greek, and other traditional studies.
The movement culminated in the Morrill Land-Grant College Act of 1862. This act provided federal lands to the states who were to sell it off and use the proceeds to establish at least one college whose purpose would be: “Without excluding other scientific and classical studies, to teach such branches of learning as are related to agriculture and the mechanic arts…in order to promote the liberal and practical education of the industrial classes in the several pursuits and professions of life.”
What were the challenges and impediments Watts faced as president of Penn State’s Board of Trustees?
The biggest challenge was financial – gaining funding from the state to support the institution. The original charters did not provide for state funding, which angered Watts greatly. Not until 1857 did the school receive its first appropriation, $25,000, to help construct the main building. After the unexpected death of President Pugh in 1864, Watts’s primary challenge was to prevent the legislature from sub-dividing the land-grant fund and giving the proceeds to other schools.
There is, however, an ironic arc to Watts’s leadership. For all his success in creating, building, and launching the institution, he nearly brought it to the brink of closure through a series of disastrous presidential appointments after Pugh’s death. Furthermore, Watts concurred with the various curricular reforms these presidents recommended, effectively abandoning the land-grant mission in which agriculture and engineering were to be the “leading objects” and allowing the school to devolve into a backwoods classical college. Not until the 1880s, under the leadership of President George W. Atherton, would things begin to turn around.
Frederick Watts and the Founding of Penn State is now available from Penn State University Press. Find more information and order the book here: https://www.psupress.org/books/titles/978-0-271-08989-8.html. Save 30% with discount code NR21.

Lynn Davis: On Ice
August 24 – November 30, 2017
Lynn Davis: On Ice presents a selection of photographs from the artist’s longstanding engagement with the icebergs on the sea outside of Ilulissat, a small town on the edge of a glacier off the west coast of Greenland. Developed over the course of six expeditions that began in 1986, Davis’s photographs evidence strong affinities with the spare geometry of minimalist sculpture and track the dramatic transformation of the natural environment.
As the Glass House commemorates its 10th year as a site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the exhibition additionally celebrates Davis’s friendship with David Whitney and Philip Johnson, both of whom collected the artist’s work.

Hermès and the Glass House are honored to introduce Centered Rhyme, a limited-edition 90x90cm silk twill scarf featuring a design by the late American artist Elaine Lustig Cohen (1927-2016). The design is based on a large-scale 1967 painting by the artist.
To purchase, please contact the Glass House Design Store via phone at 203-594-9884 x0 or email at [email protected]. A portion of the proceeds from the sale the Centered Rhyme scarf will go towards the preservation of the Glass House.
Elaine Lustig Cohen was highly regarded as a graphic designer, artist, and rare book dealer throughout her career, which spanned over fifty years. In 1955, she began her design work in New York by extending the idiom of European modernism into an American context for her diverse clientele of publishers, corporations, cultural institutions, and architects. Her first client was Philip Johnson – architect of the celebrated Glass House (1949) in New Canaan, Connecticut – who commissioned her to design the lettering and signage for the iconic Seagram Building.
The two forged an important bond that resulted in a variety of projects for the Glass House, Yale University, and Lincoln Center, among others. As a painter, Lustig Cohen developed a hard-edged style in the 1960s and 1970s that asserted the canvas’ flat surface. She continued to experiment with bold colors, linear patterning, and abstract shapes in a variety of media including collage and three-dimensional objects.
Following a 2015 exhibition of the artist’s early paintings and graphic design at the Glass House, Pierre-Alexis Dumas, artistic director of Hermès, met the artist at her Manhattan home and conceived of a scarf based on her painting Centered Rhyme (1967). Pierre-Alexis and Elaine discovered a deep intellectual and philosophical connection while touring her remarkable personal collection of eclectic art and artifacts, including ancient printed silks.
The project was made in collaboration with the Glass House, a site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, that in alignment with Hermès values is dedicated to the promotion of cultural and architectural preservation, artistry and craftsmanship.
The limited-edition Hermès 90cm x 90cm silk twill design, $395.00, will be presented in Lustig Cohen’s original coloration; crème/jaune/rose, and sold at the Glass House Design Store and Hermès boutiques.

End of the Night Patrol
/!\ It deals with My Little Pony Universe /!\
It was a dark night, the moon was covered by big clouds.
Inspector Edmund Reid was stood in a corner of the street, watching the sky. He was waiting for his teammate, Sergeant Bennet Drake who had to come soon. Them and anothers ponies of the H-Division were exeptionally requiered for a night patrol to find and follow some ponies who are preparing an attack against Queen Victoria. The case was complex, so Chief Inspector Frederick Abberline organised many patrols since weeks. This time, it was the 5th and also the first nocturnal.
Reid was sent with Sergeant Donald Atherton, as well as another pony in the streets of Whinnychapel, many others were, earth ponies and unicorns, sent too in threesomes to inspect of all the corners of the town. Sergeant Drake and others pegasus had to inspect the clouds. Reid took the pocket watch out of his jacket in his big hoof and checked the hour : 4.52 am. The patrol was over, Atherton was already came back at the Office, while Reid chose to wait for Drake. The big earth pony placed his watch in his pocket and sat down heavily in the pavement, sighing. He was worried for his friend. “I hope something bad hadn't happen to him.” he thought.
Suddenly a noise of flapping resounded in the sky. Reid rose his head and previewed a group of pegasus flying. One of them slowed down to land on the ground. It was Sergeant Drake; Reid was relieved.
The amber pegasus finally touched gently the pavement just in front of Reid. “Gee ! This patrol was exhausting, I'm glad it was finally over.” he said, shaking his wings before replacing them correctly.
“Same for me.” Reid sighed. “But Abberline absolutely wanted the H-Division doing this patrol, the case is more hard than we thought.” He paused for a while, scuffing the ground with his hoof. “So Drake, nothing to report up there ?” he asked to his team mate.
“No, nothing.” The pegasus answered with disappointment in his voice. “We checked all the clouds, even the smallest. But nothing, no pegasus or griffins to suspect. Nor bombs or any machines which could harm the Queen.” He wiped his eyes which picked him by tiredness. “And you Reid ?”
“Nothing neither. Atherton, Jonson and I checked the buildings' enters near the harbor, as well as the other ponies checked all the corners of the streets. The unicorns were sent to keep an eye to the cellars and the sewers. I don't know if they found something but for my part, we're nothing to report.” Reid said scowling. Making this patrol to find nothing frustrated him.
Drake yawned loudly : “What time is it ?”
Reid checked his watch again : “Nearly 5.am.” he said. Then, after replacing his pocket watch in his jacket, he turned around walking. “C'mon Sergeant, Atherton is waiting for us at the Office for the morning coffee.” he said with cheerfulness.
Drake followed him of a heavy step, exhausted by his flight. He couldn't stop yawning. “A'right, let's go.” he said dazzled.
Reid noticed the amber stallion had difficulties to keep his eyes open, and his walk was very slow and heavy, it was funny because the pegasus clamed he could stay awake all one night. Suddenly an idea came to his mind. Reid waited his mate exceeds.
“Damn, I seriously need a cup of coffe-eEEEP !” Drake squaked while Reid rose him with his neck to carry him in his back. “Wh – What are you doing Reid ?” he cried out.
The big brown stallion turned slowly his head to meet his mate's gaze. “I think it'll be better if I carry you until we arrive at the Office. You deserve it with this exhausting patrol, you flied all the night.” he gently said while he nuzzled Drake's mane which made him blush intensely.
“Thanks you.” Drake whispered shyly.
The smaller stallion was confortably installed in the Inspector's back, curled up like a kitten. He could smell the sweet smelling of his neck in his nostrils; and the movement of his body walking rocked him softly. Drake sinked instantly in a deep sleep.
Whinnychapel began to wake up, the sky was still dark but some ponies were awake opening their shop while anothers were already. Reid carried on to walk until the Office with his sleeping friend on his back. He heard his snorring in his ear. Then, he looked at the pony sometimes by the corner of his eyes, which made him smile. The breeze blew weakly in their fur; Reid took a deep breath, enjoying the softness of this night ending.
I FINALLY FINISHED THIS DAMN DIGITAL  PAINTING OH MY GOD !!!!!
Well, it’s my very first digital painting and it took me almost 2 weeks ! I believed I’ll never finished it lol. The plaid and the wings was toooo long to paint.
... After more than 130 layers !!! It’s not perfect but I still love it. ^^
Anyway, After I made this drawing , I wanted again to draw these guys into pony form (aka I found an excuse to try digital painting lol). So here are ponies Reid and Drake (aka a little Benmund).
Ah, about the story : I guess you’ll ask why I wrote “Whinnychapel” instead of “Whitechapel”, well in the show (if you watch it) some fictional cities are wordsplays with real cities (for example : Notthingham = Trottingham; Manhatthan = Manehattan ; Philadelphia = Fillydelphia ...), I chose this name to match with MLP verse. Voilà ! XD
I’ve to do more digital paintings by the way lol.
Also, I’ll come back school soon and I’ll have a lot of works, plus next week I’m going to move in another city because of my studies, so I think I won’t have a lot of time for personal work. But I’ll try to post regulary I promise ;)
Ah and all WIPs are on my Twitter.
Hope you like it -^^-  Sorry for long text ^^’
