Because Mito Freecss is Gon’s mother figure I think people forget that she is only 23 at the beginning of the story (25 in current arc) Thats a year younger than Illumi😂
(No Ging didn’t leave Gon just with 11 year old Mito. He left Gon with with his and Mito’s grandma but as she got older Mito took over caring for Gon probably because it became harder for Grandma to.)

Kite's Twin
Kite X Sibling!Reader
Requested: @mushroom-weeb
Request: Heyyyy I just found your page and love the sibling readers, could you maybe do a younger sibling with kite or morel?? If not I understand, thanks!💜😊
Warning: Canon divergence,
Tumblr media
Kite tries to keep your existence within the knowledge of you to people that he trusts, not only for your safety but because your work called for a little more discretion than his, his team probably knew about it since you stopped by to annoy your twin whenever you had the time. You and Kite argued in an understated kind of way, you were a hunter hired for messier jobs (blacklist hunter) and he’d often argue about how you choose to keep yourself safe. Your ability allowed you to move from place to place as long as you could see it, you were working on moving people with you but it was still a work in progress. You were able to use a number of different guns though your favourite was the sniper as it leant well into your ability given the scope. Kite never really cared about you meeting the people that he worked with, he did worry about you scaring them though, in the end that was never a problem even when meeting Gon and Killua.
Kite had just ordered Killua and Gon to run, Killua grabbing his friend and running however as he moved through the trees he caught sight of someone in the trees sniper in hand as they aimed in the direction that they had just left.
You knew that Kite was going to get himself into trouble the moment that he entered the NGL and it took a great deal of effort to get your weapons into the country without detection and had a lot to do with a favour that Knov owed you. You were now positioned in the trees ready to shoot the creature that your brother was fighting, with a deep breath you let off the first shot hitting it in the leg, it jumped back allowing Kite a moment to breathe while you shot again this time through the shoulder as Kite started to retreat and the final one in the left side of the torso, you watched the creature stumble back of towards the nest that it had been guarding, you waited to make sure that it didn’t come back or anything like it. You turned away from the nest using your ability to move a safe distance, hiding the weapons that you had before heading for the border where you were sure that Kite and the two kids were heading.
When you got there Kite and his small team were there, you sighed as you saw there were no real injuries. “Are you going to tell me what you were thinking?” You asked. “Thank you for your help.” Kite said as he turned to you, you raised an eyebrow. “Alright what it is?” You asked. “A Chimera Ant, that seems to have fed on humans.” Kite answered. “I do remember you rambling about that being bad news if it ever happened.” You nodded “that thing felt particularly terrifying.” “Um Kite, who's this?” The boy with the darker hair asked. “This is my twin.” Kite answered, you waved, you looked them over recognising the traits of a Zoldyck from a mile away. “You must be Killua.” You guessed. “How’d you know that?” He asked. “I’m a Blacklist hunter and it’s common knowledge that one of the Zoldyck family children is running around unprotected. There are a few inexperienced newcomers that are trying to hire to have you killed, that being said half the hunters that are experienced enough to even attempt that have no interest in it.” You explained. “And the other half?” Killua asked. “The other half are your brother and his psycho clown pet.” You answered. “Hisoka…” The other kid muttered. “Correct.” You nodded. “What’s your name kid?” “Gon Freeces.” He answered. “Ahh, yeah I like him better than I like his Dad.” You decided as you looked at your brother. “I thought you would say that.” He grumbled as you looked at him. “You're okay right?” You asked. “Mmm.” He hummed. “Good then we should head back to the armed part of the world so we talk to some people about eliminating this threat before it becomes one.” You suggested. “No need to start giving out orders.” Kite muttered. “No one was ordering anyone.” You smirked as you turned to the boys “he’s so tetchy when things don’t go his way.” You whispered loudly, fully aware that he could hear you, Gon laughed and Killua smirked. “Come on.” Kite ordered. “Who’s ordering who now?” You teased as you followed him, just happy that everyone made it out of the first encounter alive.

HANG OUT WITH THEM
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i. part two: hang out with these characters (part one)
ii. gender neutral. reader | unedited version (lmk if I used any gendered terms!)
iii. cw: spoilers in manga (chrollo's part), mentions of death, massacre/slaughter, torture, trauma, and violence. stealing, fluff & semi-angst (?)
iv. characters: gon freecs, killua zoldyck, kurapika kurta, chrollo lucilfer, feitan portor.
Tumblr media
GON FREECS
You hang out with the boy a lot as the two of you develop a rapport with one another and grow closer. The two of you would often be perched on top of a tree branch as he casts his fishing line into the middle of a swamp. He would ask you questions about your past, how you lived in YorkNew City, and even about yourself constantly while he was fishing.
Talking to Gon is comforting, although he is extremely enthusiastic. You might find yourself baffled as to how he appears to be fulfilled while not harboring any unwelcome feelings or thoughts. But naturally, that wasn't the only thing. He would take you around the town's outskirts. And to pass the time if you were in his place, you two would play a variety of board games.
KILLUA ZOLDYCK
When Gon wasn't allowed to practice Nen for two months because of his injudicious decision of fighting Gido, you and Killua trained together without Nen because Killua don't want Gon to be left behind. Since neither of you was particularly talkative throughout your training session-unlike Gon, who frequently emits a lot of commotion when the three of you are together-it was really awkward and silent.
You're just reluctant to approach him because you two weren't really close. But even so, he would give you advice on how to grow more powerful and tell you about what you should concentrate on. As an outcome, the more you two trained together over the course of the two months, the closer you two grew.
The two of you are hardly alone together unless it involves training, combat, etc. The three of you traveled to Whale Island after leaving Heaven's Arena to meet Mito Freecs, Gon's aunt, and Abe, his great-grandmother. They were quite friendly to you, and his great-grandmother told you and Killua plenty of stories about Gon. Gon once left the two of you because his aunt asked him to go get some supplies she needed to prepare later.
You offered your assistance to Aunt Mito with the laundry. Killua was watching you as you washed the clothes since he isn't really sure how he can help you or do things like that. He would speak about his experiences and escapades as an experienced assassin, a member of the notorious Zoldyck family, and the future heir to the family to keep you entertained. However, it wasn't all that entertaining to hear about how he was actually tortured as a baby.
You also shared your stories with him when you were younger. Being from your typical family, you didn't find it particularly interesting. To your surprise, Killua laughed and thought you were humorous when you were younger because of both your foolishness and your intrepid nature. You attempted tossing him your left slippers, but he deftly sidestepped it. Indeed, the day was enjoyable.
KURAPIKA KURTA
(Prior to the massacre of the Kurta Clan)
He would come and see you in your leisure time and encourage you to read in the neighborhood library with him. You would undoubtedly concur that it is Kurapika after all. You two would sit side by side on the couch in the serene library, and before starting a new book, he would offer that you execute an exchange. For instance, he may recommend a book to you and vice versa.
The majority of the novels he read are far more serious than you may think. He always recommends history or biographies of philosophers who lived a century ago, as well as crime, mystery, and science fiction, works. Despite how much you like it, you feel a little ashamed about the works you're recommending to him since they seem so plain to him. [Unless you have the same taste w/ him]
Most of your hangouts are just solitude and calm, but you like that tranquility. Along with Pairo, the three of you are going to stay in the forest as you three would for an adventurous hangout. You would capture fish or other creatures that are suitable for human consumption.
(After the massacre of the Kurta Clan)
You feel much closer to your childhood friend now that you've seen him again. He lost his positive outlook since, as you are aware, criminals killed the members of his clan. If you were in his position, you wouldn't have any optimism at all. Therefore, you are always at his side to lessen his sense of isolation and provide him with emotional support. A conversation with him may be quite intense and passionate. He would often speak to you late at night about his unsaid emotions, his grief, his trauma, his enmity, and the survivor's guilt.
He's still a huge book nerd, so you two would borrow books from the local library and read them together while relaxing in the calm setting. You are just brought back to the past by it.
CHROLLO LUCILFER
(When you were still living in Meteor City)
Chrollo introduced you to Father Lisores, the owner of the church that you saw. (First chapter) And now, you're affiliated with him because you look like you're on the verge of death and he pities you. In exchange for your assistance with his charitable endeavors and your assistance each time there is a mass for children and other Meteor City residents, he provides you with a place to live, food, and other requirements.
Furthermore, you got to know some of Chrollo's friends. They all treated you well, but Chrollo is the one you get along with the best. Despite the difficulties of his life, he is bursting with positive energy. He frequently stops by the church and enjoys bringing you unusual items.
Most of your time together would be spent in the church's rear chamber, where he would show you other items and instruct you in speaking Gelman. (In the universe of Hunter x Hunter, probably English). His discoveries and his astute thinking never fail to captivate you. He frequently blushes when you praise him, but in all honesty, he kind of craves it since he wants to impress you.
Chrollo requested you, Sarasa, and Pakunoda to voice dub a Mighty Sweepin' Power Cleaners VHS tape into your mother tongue so that the kids in Meteor City could watch and understand the episode. It gave you an immense thrill to voice-dub the role that was given to you, and it warmed your heart to see the children moved and enthralled.
(Phantom Troupe / After the slaughter of Kurta Clan)
After Sarasa's death, Phantom Troupe was established with the intention of exacting retribution. You presently hold the fourth rank and are a member of the Phantom Troupe, a group of malevolent thieves. You two don't spend much time together since Chrollo is so busy keeping up his leadership role, looking for items that can be of great use to the group, or if he wants to steal a particular item. In fact, it only happens once in a blue moon.
But you can't blame him after all. Though when all of you are gathered up for a meeting, he would give you pieces of jewelry, books, and others that you love, which you presumably think that he stole, it feels nice that he's thinking about you.
While waiting for the remainder of the members to arrive, you would speak with them about significant topics and share what you had learned from your mission. His responses to you are brief since he is still engaged with the book he is reading. You feel sort of sad about it but chose to not complain.
FEITAN PORTOR
While the troupe was in York New, he would pay you many visits at the gaming shop where you work, and would practically gaze at you as if you were a ghost or something - well, he's waiting for you to end your shift. You can't concentrate on your work due to his scary glances, and he physically stares at everyone that walks into the shop.
You would advise him to cease doing that after your shift, but he would act unaware even though he understood what you meant. You two would saunter through the Saloma Mall, only glancing at the merchandise in the storefront windows, not bothering to go inside because you're saving up your money.
But there was a time when you spotted a bracelet that piqued your curiosity, but it was so pricey that your wage wasn't sufficient to pay for it. Feitan was aware of this but remained silent. After dropping you off at your flat, he goes to the shop where you spotted the bracelet you like and snatches it violently.
He handed you the bracelet the next day. Unaware that he had stolen it, you were perplexed by how he was able to purchase it. When you questioned about how he was able to afford it, he just said that they were confidential.
Feitan isn't a particularly chatty person, and neither are you, but whenever he comes to see you while you're at work, you strike up a conversation with him, and honestly, talking to him is much more comfortable than talking to other people because he's direct and doesn't sugarcoat his words, which is what you like best.
He just listens to your rambling while paying attention to what you're saying, but he obviously won't be overt about it. The two of you would play video games in your flat after your shift. Because he has a strong sense of competition, he usually defeats you. He constantly invited Phinks and Shalnark as well.

When Alluka moves in with Miss Mito and her rag-tag family of three (four, if you count the neighbor kid Zushi), Killua gets ahold of Gon's number for emergency purposes. They end up talking far more frequently than expected.

Ruin Our Friendship by xyliane ( T | 13,624 | 1/1 )
It's a master plan, really: they pretend to date for long enough that people forget the rumors that Killua's dating adults (he's not and the rumors are gross), and Gon convinces everyone he can hold a partner longer than a few weeks. It's a bet. A challenge. Neither Gon or Killua can resist.
What could go wrong?

In two weeks, it’ll be Valentine’s Day. In two weeks, Gon plans to confess his feelings to his best friend of seven years. In two weeks, Gon Freecss will hand Killua Zoldyck a confession.
Except he wasn’t really expecting his best friend to walk in on him writing said letter—and demanding he help write it.

butterflies, they come alive by DecemberCamie ( G | 12,151 | 1/1 )
The idea behind the whole system is pretty simple. You pay a dollar, answer some questions, and out pops a couple of names of people you’d be compatible with. Compatible as in, you know, dating-wise.
Gon, though. Gon never really knew why he signed up. And neither did anyone else.
It wasn’t like Gon was ever without friends. Just the opposite, in fact. Everyone liked Gon. He talked to people, made them open up in ways no one else could.
So, it was as big a surprise to Gon as to anyone when the high school's matching system paired him with the one person he had never uttered a single word to during his past three years at Hunter High.
(a fic in which social butterfly Gon Freecss is accidentally paired up with social outcast Killua Zoldyck through a matching personality test; as Gon is thrown head-first into Killua's world, he slowly becomes more and more drawn to Killua in ways he could have never expected)

Running Start by DecemberCamie ( G | 8,318 | 4/4 )
“Wanna try, Killua?” Gon asks, breathless and grinning despite being tossed to the dirt less than thirty seconds ago.
Killua tears his gaze away from Gon’s bright face to the open field in front of him. A crowd of students are scattered around in an uneven circle, all cheering loudly as a boy and girl take their places on opposite sides of the ring.
“I’d need to know what the hell is even going on before I agree to anything,” Killua says, exasperated, and Gon’s grin only grows. “Why are you all hurling yourselves at each other like that?! You’re lucky you didn’t get your front two teeth knocked out!”
Gon laughs. “Don’t be silly, Killua! It’d be impossible to hit each other; you'd have to be soulmates for that to happen!”
(In a universe where a person cannot physically kiss someone who isn’t their soulmate, a class of idiotic high schoolers spend their free period running towards each other to see who could get the closest before the universe repels them)

thus, with a kiss, I die by DecemberCamie ( G | 3,587 | 1/1 )
“What were you thinking?! Your part is Tybalt, Killua! Tybalt, not Juliet! Tybalt can’t kiss Romeo; did you forget Tybalt is Juliet’s cousin?! Or the fact that Romeo and Juliet are already married at this point in the performance! What are we going to do now?!”

Match Point by DecemberCamie ( T | 4,615 | 1/1 )
“Gon,” Killua grounded out. “That is not the problem, here.”
“What is the problem, then? You’re cold, right?”
“Listen, if you- if you let me w-wear your jacket, everyone will think that you and me are...”
Gon leaned in close to Killua’s face, close enough for their noses to touch. “You and me are...what, exactly?”
“Are dating,” Killua hissed. He refused to lean away, to back off from the fiery challenge in Gon’s eyes. He wouldn’t give in to Gon, despite the weakness in his own knees.
Gon hummed. He stared at Killua with a strange intensity, like Killua was a fascinating puzzle or the world’s eighth natural wonder. He said softly, “Well. That’s not exactly a lie, is it?”
((based on the prompt: 'you own this jacket i really like but you never even wear it so you let me borrow it but i forgot it has your last name embroidered on the back so now people look at me and think we’re dating'))

Come to Me by DecemberCamie ( G | 1,201 | 1/1 )
“What the hell is wrong with you?!” Killua hissed and dragged Gon off his bedroom windowsill by his drenched shirt. “You can’t just- just serenade me in the middle of the night!”

between pages by DecemberCamie ( G | 3,770 | 1/1 )
He teased, “You know, you’re really cute when you’re all flustered like this, Killua.”
Blue eyes widened, enraged. “I am not cute, dammit!”
“Mmm, yeah. You are.” He kissed Killua’s scarlet cheek before Killua could duck out of the way.
“Oh my god.” Killua tried to hide his face in his hands but Gon caught his wrists and pulled them down. Killua had nowhere to run or hide now, trapped between Gon’s body and the table at his back.
Which was bad for Killua, but very, very good for Gon.

Ask Me by DecemberCamie ( G | 1,938 | 1/1 )
“Give it back.”
Gon pouted and Killua growled, “Gon. You promised.”
“But it's so cute!” Gon whined. He could feel the crumpled note curled against his fingers in the center of his fist. It was amazing that something so small could cause such an emotional reaction out of Killua.
“It is not cute,” Killua hissed. “And you’ve had it all afternoon already—now give it!”
“…fine. But you have to tell me what it means.”
((written for the prompt: “I accidentally passed you an embarrassing note that was meant for my best friend dON’T YOU DARE READ IT.”))

I Want Something (Just Like This) by cheritsundere ( T | 35,823 | 4/4 )
"Look, Brother! They have a new action figure of you-R FAVORITE HUNTER," Alluka said, correcting her word choice when she remembered that they were out in public.
He looked into the store shop window. Situated among some of the most popular hunters was a tiny version of himself, striking a dynamic pose - his jacket flowing dramatically and little blue sparks decorating the base. It wasn't bad. Definitely an improvement over his 1st merch.
He heard a gasp to his left. "SilverShock is your favorite too?!"
With a quick turn, Killua was met with the biggest brown eyes he thought could exist and a smile even bigger. The kid couldn't be much older than him yet he had a feeling that Mr. Sunshine probably acted closer to a Kindergartner. He took a few steps closer to his sister to put some distance between them before answering. "He's more my sis's fave than mine, but yeah I think he's cool," Killua answered, internally patting himself on the back for his modesty. He was probably the best newcomer in the country if his stats were anything to go by, but still...
Mr. Sunshine was a fan of his?

"As Killua leans on the smudged bus window on his way home, watching road signs and cars blur by, he reflects on the elegant but firm pivot of Gon’s stance before a kick; the way every movement would pass through his entire body like a tidal wave; the way they would circle each other, hands raised and feet light, and thinks it was a little bit like a dance."
It's the beginning of senior year and Killua finally has a friend (or five) - just don't tell his family.

Anyway. Besides specialized nen abilities a lot of the items in greed island are old world relics back from when humanity first fled the dark continent.
The freecs family tree is just the pregnancy stone over and over again starting with don freecs and then passing down to ging, with several outliers of Actual Sexual Reproduction going on here n there, which is why mito is gings cousin.
I've said before and I'll say it again, ging freecs doesnt fuck

Reflections
A Mito Freecs character study.
I’m not sure this counts as a ficlet or what. I wrote this some time ago while analyzing Mito’s feelings. She’s complex but overlooked and I’m sure she had her own ideas and wishes when she was young, but she probably gave up because she didn’t feel special enough to try. I don’t know, maybe it’s just me thinking so, but I was intrigued with her character for a while and with the weird theories about Gon’s mother (or lack thereof) I found myself wondering what Mito could think on this matter.
This is what I wrote down in this regard:
Mito wondered a long time what kind of woman Gon's birth mother could be. Perhaps the correct statement would be that Mito wanted to know what kind of woman would have a child with Ging, then leave the baby with him and never look back for basically all his life. Thirteen-years-old Mito had been envious of this mystery woman. She had a rough, blurry idea where babies came from, but in her mind it involved love. It meant Ging had loved a woman and that woman had to be so much more than Mito and it hurt. - It could also mean this woman broke Ging's heart like he broke hers, but that was silly to think about because Ging didn't care enough to have his heart broken - The woman Mito was envious of was soft and lean, fully grown in height and round shapes, two things teen Mito lacked yet. She had to be elegant and beautiful, with soft long curls, plump lips and make-up, like the models in the magazines and commercials. And, of course, she had to be irresponsible and self-absorbed, because who else would leave Ging with a baby without caring a bit? Then came the anger. Anger at her stupid hunter cousin and his weird requests, anger that he refused to speak about that woman Mito wanted so desperately to compare to, anger that he came back only to leave someone else behind again. She fought the fiercest battle of her life to make sure Gon wasn't going to leave Kujira Island and be tossed in Ging's crazy world anytime soon. His entire life, if she managed. Ging didn't deserve to raise a child. Worse, he wasn't good enough to do it and Mito not so secretly believed that Gon's mother wasn't any better. Mito's curiosity moulded the woman in some mysterious creature, still beautiful, but with rougher edges and sharper features. She had to be a hunter too, selfish as Ging and equally interested only in her own business. She had to be vulgar and loud and with no sense of family or maternal instincts. Anger quietly subdued into bitterness when she started taking care of Gon full time. The ink of the custody papers had long dried and so had the strongest feelings Mito harboured. On those documents, there was no hint of Gon's birth mother, but the baby boy was so cute and loving and bright, Mito was bitter at the cruel woman who never appeared in her son's life. She now depicted her with cold eyes and a colder heart, head always high with pride, uncaring and despotic. If not even Gon's warm eyes and adorable blabbers managed to move her, nothing in the world could. Bitterness stayed the longest time, resurfacing stronger when Gon's free spirit was too much for her to handle and Mito had solid moments of "why should I? I'm not even his mother!", or when solitude and sadness stroke the hardest in those rough patches of sleepless nights, when Gon was ill at the same time she was but no one else could take care of him and "damn, I can't do it!". But she always did, because even those feelings were only passing moments in a life full of a lot more. She was there for Gon's best moments, when his smiles were the brightest and his hugs the warmest, when he gleamed with pride as he learned a new thing, when he caught the biggest fish and he took it home all proud. Then Mito thought that that terrible woman was missing out so much and she was pissed she wasn't there, but at the same time, she pitied that stranger who never saw all of it and never would. She now imagined the woman alone, surrounded by success on one side and her slowly decaying beauty on the other, strong but sad, maybe resenting she gave away the biggest of treasures. Here came the fear, that frightening idea that the woman could re-think it, that she could want her son again and come to Kujira Island and take Gon away, bribing him with presents or taking him away with force. Perhaps she'd arrive with the simple truth of being his real mother as her weapon and Gon would look at her, then at Mito, and decide that no matter who raised him, his birth mother was more beautiful, more interesting, more important than Mito ever was. That he loved the stranger who gave him life more than the "aunt" who took care of him all that time and devoted her soul and heart to him, discarding her in favour of a perfect stranger with more exciting perspectives. And that cruel, lonely woman would be lonely no more by taking Gon away from Mito, taking her place in everything, laughing as she'd leave with Mito's one and only treasure. As Gon grew up, this fear subdued into another, bigger one: that Gon looked more and more like his father. Aside from the physical resemblance, one that always stroke everyone who met Ging and even took Mito by surprise from time to time, Gon was developing the same restless soul, the same impatient eyes, the same longing for the outside world. The ghost of Ging's prophecy, hidden in the simple request of giving Gon the sealed box "after he becomes a hunter", hovered in the small house whenever Gon left to explore the Island, whispering in Mito's ears that he too was going to leave soon, that the apple never falls too far from the tree and with both parents with a history of abandoning things and people behind without looking back, how could Gon be any different? When Gon announced he wanted to take the Hunter Exam, Mito's world started to shake and crumble in front of her eyes. When she chose the most challenging thing that came to her mind for him if he wanted her permission to leave, she already knew he was going to pass the test. When she hugged him goodbye, she got ready to never see him again. But Gon came back. Sure, a lot after he passed the Hunter Exam, and he made her worry a lot and pray for his safety every night, but he came back, soon enough and happy and not alone. He still held to the self-imposed mission to find Ging, which meant he was going to leave again, but when she overheard the kids talking, when Gon said he didn't need to know about his mother because Mito was his mother, this fixed a piece of her heart that she feared would stay hanging forever. Mito didn't have to worry anymore: she knew Gon never changed his mind nor his loyalties, what he said was sacred to him and that's all she needed to make the jealousy, the anger, the bitterness disappear from her heart. Only pity remained, for the woman that could have been a mother for such an exceptional child as Gon, but never was.

Killugon
Killugon 1
Warnings: Violence, language Rating: T Pairing: KilluGon [School AU]
The Zoldyck Family Company struck either fear or awe into the hearts of all who heard it. All except its heir. To Killua Zoldyck, his family business was nothing more than a burden he’d been saddled with. But he couldn’t get away. Not now. They were in the middle of a mafia war. That didn’t mean he couldn’t rebel just a little. Enter Gon Freecss: The perfect catalyst. Gon could help him break his shackles. Gon could be his friend. Gon could free - Gon didn’t deserve to be dragged into a war. Gon needed to be kept safe. Killua needed to stay away. Gon didn’t share his sympathies.
Killugon 2
Pairing: Gon Freecs/Killua Zoldyck; Kurapika and Leorio will make an appearance as a couple, briefly; Alluka Zoldyck/OC Rating: M Warnings: Post canon/canon compliant; Killua and Gon aged up to 19; some killugon angst (but a happy ending!); equal parts killigon fluff; probably some canon-typical violence; emotional abuse involving Illumi/Alluka, again canon-typical; some killugon sex It’s been five years since Gon and Killua said good-bye at the World Tree, with promises to write and meet again. But for the past two and a half of those years, Killua has dropped out of contact with Gon, without warning or explanation. A quietly heartbroken Gon has come to believe that he’ll never see his childhood friend again, and settled back into his quiet life on Whale Island: until the day when he opens the front door to find Killua on the doorstep, emotionally shattered and on the verge of physical collapse. Over the course of the next hour, Gon learns that Killua’s father is recently dead, leaving a power vacuum in the family business that his brother Illumi is all too willing to fill. Worse, his sister, Alluka, has been kidnapped from the home he’s been sharing with her in Lukso Province. He has evidence that Illumi is behind her disappearance, wanting to use her to cement his status as head of the family. Killua believes that Gon is the only person who can help him find her before this happens, and convinces him to leave his quiet life behind once again to help rescue her. This story is told in alternating sections, from Gon/Killua’s and Alluka’s points of view. It follows the former best friends across continents on their quest to save Alluka. But Gon and Killua also have both past hurt and betrayal and new feelings to come to terms with, plus the re-awakening of Gon’s lost nen. Alluka, meanwhile, is no longer a child, but a young woman growing into independence and impressive powers of her own. Illumi may have locked her in a tower, but this bad-ass Rapunzel might just be the one to save them all.
Killugon 3
Rating: M Warnings/Triggers: Emotional abuse and manipulation and mild to moderate physical abuse. All by Illumi against Killua. Mild nsfw, nothing explicit planned. Pairings: killugon with leopika on the side [Medieval, Aged Up AU. Gon and Killua are 20 and the rest of the characters are aged up respectively i.e. Kurapika is 25, Leorio is 27, etc.] King Killua and Sir Gon have known each other since childhood and are very close, some might say inappropriately so for two people of such widely different social standings. When things start to develop between them, Prince Illumi, chief advisor to the king, is determined to quash such nonsense, leaving Killua to feel he has no choice but to put his duties as king before his personal feelings. Illumi has Killua believing he’s isolated and powerless, but he’ll come to find he’s not alone.
Killugon 4 Pairing: Killugon (Killua Zoldyck/Gon Freecss)
Rated T Warnings: Swearing, some angst Killua Zoldyck doesn’t expect the world to give him very much. Being disowned and completely ridiculed by his family only seems a little much for one day. Now, though, he’s trying to find his little sister Alluka, who’s escaped the other Zoldycks to the otherworldly realm of Masadora, where time stands still. Masadora, the afterlife of this world. Masadora, the ultimate goal-the catch is that he has to break his curse in this life before passing on to the next one, and no witch doctor or soothsayer can do that for him. Killua needs another person who’s willing to stick with him not just in the remainder of his own life, but in Masadora as well. Gon Freecss is perfectly content in his own way. He’s a part of the Hunter Association, which defends and protects their corner of the world. He has a predictable way of life that he can count on. He doesn’t, however, count on a strange silver-haired man showing up and asking for his help grudgingly. He definitely doesn’t count on the rollercoaster that follows, nor the newfound feelings that come with it. A retelling of the Irish fairytale of Tír na nÓg.
Killugon 5
Pairing: Killugon Rating: T Notes: Not AU. Pre-canon leading into the events of the Hunter Exam. Warnings for torture but not overly explicit. On Whale Island: Gon chases a boy through the trees. They jump from branch to branch and he catches a glimpse of white hair before he blinks and then—nothing. On Kukuro Mountain: A boy who stepped out of Killua’s dreams. He has brown eyes, green clothing, and is very, very real. “I know you,” Killua whispers to the dark, to the emptiness, to the universe and anyone who is willing to listen, and feels the truth of his words skin deep, bone deep, heart deep.
Killugon 6
Rating: M or E Pairing: Killua Zoldyck/Gon Freecss (Aged-up - mid-twenties) Warnings: swearing, nudity, sex, violence, blood, canon-compliant transphobia (Illumi towards Alluka), likely character death (Illumi). Genre: Fantasy/Adventure/Romance with a happy ending. Killua Zoldyck has been cursed for helping his sister Alluka flee execution after his brother Illumi, the guardian mage of their village, found her guilty of forbidden magic. If Killua tries to cross the sea and join her, abandoning his people, the curse will raise a storm and he’ll drown. Disgusted by their treatment of her, Killua has left his village to live alone. That is, until he’s confronted by a shamelessly naked Gon Freecss, a handsome young warrior from a race who live beneath the ocean. Killua’s captivated by Gon’s amber-flecked eyes, beautiful trailing fins, long hair and decorations, and his playfulness, strength and bright smile. They fall in love and marry, though Gon can only spend half his life on land—as long as he never eats cooked food. For a time they build a happy life along the shore, sharing their evenings and nights. However, Killua’s family still have unfulfilled plans for their lost heir. One morning, Killua wakes to find Gon missing. He searches everywhere, but in the end finds only a cooked pipi shell that shouldn’t be inside their hut. He realises someone has tried to break the taboo and his lover is lost to him, returned to the ocean forever. Unwilling to contemplate a life without Gon, Killua continues to hunt for him on land and as far as he can reach out to sea. He doesn’t know if he can find a way for them to be together again and his only hope is in magic he doesn’t understand. He still has a promise to fulfill: to tear his brother Illumi down from his position as guardian mage and clear the way for Alluka’s return. He faces Nanika, the true guardian spirit of his people, in her sea-serpent form to plead for help. Finally he comes up with a desperate plan. He’ll travel beyond his limits at sea and face drowning to reunite with Gon and try to turn the cursed storm back on Illumi. If Killua can deliver his evil brother to Nanika, maybe he can create a balance so he and Gon can stay together. But even her magic isn’t as powerful as that which keeps him and Gon apart—the force of an entire ocean. (Note: Inspired by the Maori legend of Pania, a sea-maiden who lived half her life with her lover ashore until he secretly tried to feed her cooked food. She fled to the ocean and he never saw her again.)
Killugon 7
Pairing: Gon/ Killua, side Leorio/Kurapika Rating: T Warnings: Language, implied past child abuse Tags: Aged up characters, Magic College AU Padokea’s college for Wizardry is Killua’s first and only taste of the outside world without strict and constant supervision. No parents, no butlers, no giant locked house; just him and his freakishly large familiar Mike. In school, he would make his own name for himself. Not Killua Zoldyck, just Killua. He’d learn magic with methods that didn’t require torture, and maybe make friends along the way. They wouldn’t need to know where he came from, or what his family business consisted of. After all, the Zoldyck trade revolved around stealth and subtlety.   It wouldn’t be hard for him right? … Right?
Killugon 8
In x My x Dreams Pairing: Killugon, mild Leopika Rating: T (for violence, language, and Hisoka being a pervy creep- nothing nsfw) Soulmate AU Koibito no yume, Lover’s Dream- The phrase coined for the phenomenon where you are plagued with dreams from birth of a faceless individual who is your soulmate. You can dream of their lives, their family, their personality, but you will never see their face or know their name until the day that you see them in real life. For some who meet during childhood, the dreams are like second nature. They don’t even know that there’s anything significant about them because they were so young when their soulmate was faceless. For others, they’re haunted by those dreams for years.
For Killua Zoldyck and Gon Freecss, this was the case, the dreams lasted for eighteen years. Killua dreamed of a boy living with his aunt after his father left him, homeschooled and sheltered from the world. Gon dreamed of a boy raised in an abusive household who was forced to do things and forced to grow up too quickly. One has all the love in the world from only one person, the other lacks any genuine love while constantly surrounded by others. Neither has a clear goal in life. Neither having a friend. Both searching for love and acceptance. Both enrolling in the first semester of their freshman year at The University of Yorknew- as roommates. Then the dreams change.
Killugon 9
Pairing: Killua/Gon
Rated T Warnings: Angst, canon-typical violence Killua turns 18 and refuses to take up his role as head of the family. Silva wants him brought home for a reminder of his true nature, and orders Illumi to hunt him down. But Illumi believes Killua has been manipulated by outsiders, and is secretly in need of rescue. He scrambles Gon’s memory, freeing Killua to embrace his destiny. Gon awakens, confused and disorientated, to a wall between himself and his memories. Mito finds Gon and word finds Killua. When he visits, Gon doesn’t recognize him. They travel to Alluka with hope Nanika can help. Gon relearns the boy who seems to know everything about him, and Killua tries to keep from falling apart.
Killugon 10
Pairing: Killua/Gon Rating: T Notes: Canon world minus nen, aged up, post marriage, fluff (so much fluff), hurt and comfort, domesticity on whale island
Time passes and adventures end but that doesn’t mean a new one can’t take its place. Years go by but everyday is special when you spend it with someone you love. Killua and gon have been married for 19 years now but that doesn’t mean they don’t still play,  laugh and yell in the forests and ore the hills of whale island. Though it appears that even quaint life can’t seem to hold them down.
Killugon 11
Pairing: Killugon with some other pairings mentioned but not explored in detail
Rating: M
Warnings: aged-up characters; frequent swearing; frequent and explicit sexual references; mild internalised homophobia; casual homophobia and transphobia including slurs; toxic/dysfunctional family with reference to some abusive behaviours; mild violence
Other notes: modern AU; I’m taking certain liberties with Gon’s family set up for plot purposes, and with Ging’s character; the whole fic is from Killua’s point of view; Hisoka does stuff
As far as Killua is concerned, being the child of someone who is running for office definitely has major downsides, including but not limited to having to interact with his father’s sleazy campaign manager or being showcased at various public functions. Though it also means seeing his family finally accept his sister for who she is, if for all the wrong reasons. And publicity events are not always a total waste of time. One of them did result in meeting a sweet dreamboat of a teen wrestling champion, after all. Whom Killua can hang with and guiltily fantasise about… and hopelessly fall for. Wait.. how is that not a downside?
Killugon 12
Pairing: Gon & Killua (Flower shop au)
A few years after the main storyline, while Kurapika and Leorio are off to the Dark Continent, Killua and Gon have lost contact over the years due to their travels. Gon eventually decides to move away from Whale Island as a break from his studies, to open a flower shop right in Yorkshin City. Unbeknownst to Gon, Killua has found a woman he feels dearly for during his travels with Alluka, to one day be finding himself within Yorkshin City in search of an elegant bouquet as a symbol of his affection to his beloved. As they reunite, Gon invites Killua out to the local firework festival being held in the city’s center that weekend. Killua, confronted with the sudden meeting of his long lost childhood friend, incessant affectionate feelings arise within Killua causing doubt within Killua’s one-side relationship with his significant other. Tossing aside his inner conflictions, he decides to spend his evening with Gon only for his best friend to give flourishing hydrangea with an unexpected confession.
Killugon 13
Pairings: Gon Freecss/Killua Zoldyck Warnings: swearing, violence Rated T Gon Freecss, Summer-born Bounty Hunter, has always been known across the Summer Tropic for his prodigy and odd behavior. The bizarre Hunter becomes the center of Tropic gossip once more when he brings his too pale, blue-eyed, and silver-haired Winter-born fiancé, Killua Zoldyck, to the Summer Solstice Celebration.   It would be scandalous to invite a Winter-born to the Summer Solstice on any given year. But to completely ignore the increasingly tense political frictions between the Summer and Winter Tropics after the disappearance of Winter Tropic Prince is a new level of blind ignorance that only Ging Freecss’ son seems capable of bearing. Little do they know, faking an engagement to sneak a runway Prince into the Summer Tropic Palace and steal the kingdom’s legendary Looking Glass is exactly the kind of thing Gon would do. The arrangement would prove lucrative to Killua and Gon both if successful. And luckily for Gon, it shouldn’t be too difficult for him to pretend being engaged to someone he’s half in love with already. After all, what’s the worst that could happen?
Killugon 14
Pairing: Killua/Gon
Rating: T
Additional notes: as canon as I can make it, reunion au, about 4 years, aged up kiddos, light fluffy reunion fluff. Gon has a sporting scar down his eye. Fluff
Killua and Gon haven’t seen each other since the world tree. While they tried to keep up with each other in the first few months of separation, their communications teetered off until it was nonexistent.
Killua enjoyed being with Alluka and Nanika, it was amazing seeing the world with them. But every day without Gon weighed heavy on his heart. And maybe Killua was just ignoring how he really felt about it all.
Gon had been travelling the world with his fellow hunters, trying to relearn nen and getting into his usual trouble. But Gon knew it was at best a distraction; to run from his fears and worries- and most of all to distract himself from Killua.
Killua finally plucked the courage (through Alluka forcing him) to meet up with Gon again after almost 4 years. He’s nervous though; will Gon be upset they haven’t spoken in forever? Will Gon have new friends and be far gone from being Killua’s friend? He honestly didn’t know what to expect. He wasn’t expecting a scar on Gon’s eye, among other things.
Killugon 15
Pairing: Killua/Gon Rating: M Warnings: canon-typical violence and light gore, major character death, references to canonical child abuse and canonical csa (read: hisoka). Dark continent arc spoilers. Medieval fantasy AU. Aged up killugon. It’s a legend, told and retold through countless songs, countless stories: of how the humans and the faeries waged a war, great and terrible as all wars are; of how the noblest of knights slew both the Faerie King and himself with a rose of flame. And of how, on that night, a young hero lost himself to darkness. Swearing a terrible oath, he grew from a boy into a man in one night- and thence into a savage, tempestuous giant who stalks long-hidden forests, crushing all who dare oppose him. It’s only a legend- but when the rebellious young nobleman Killua Zoldyck is sentenced to kill that giant, he soon discovers that old legend is more real- and more human- than he could ever have dreamed.
Killugon 16 Pairing: Background KilluGon. Warnings: Canon typical violence, mentions blood, possible graphic depictions
Rated T Gon practices black magic in a city beyond time. Alluka is one of the best tennis players in the world.
Killua is… between jobs.
Gon kicks in their door and says hello by eating fistfuls of salt from their kitchen.
Things get weirder from there. Highlights include: The death of an Elder God, Alluka playing tennis with a demon, Killua going missing Alluka suffering because of her gay brother.
Killugon 17
Title: The Life of Death Pairings: Killugon Rating: T for Teen Tags: Major Character Death, Killugon, Fluff, Angst The life as death is a lonely one for the small nonamed spirit. Every moment spent with another; a fleeting last moment. One often filled with hopelessness and sorrow, but also comfort and release; all things death is used to. All things death has come to expect from those whose pain and life he’s come to take away.
That is until death finds himself face to face with a village boy, named Gon, who appears at the edge of the forest. Surprised by the lack of fear and no trace of pain on that smile plastered face, death ventures closer and an unlikely friendship begins. With a new name and an energetic friend, Killua finds that maybe his life as death isn’t as lonely as he thought it would be. But all of that could fall apart with just a simple touch.
Killugon 18
Rating: G
Pairing: Gon/Killua
Warnings: brief depictions of violence/blood, disembodied pain
There are two types of magic, Aunt Mito tells Gon: the world magic, the things wizards and mages use to shape the world. It’s real, because it’s founded on laws and rationality. It builds bridges and creates cities, tears down walls and destroys mountains. It’s the sort of magic that makes sense.
The Freecss family doesn’t do sensible. Never has. Theirs is the second magic, magic made from dreams. Magicians pull from their imaginations and their dreams to spin stories and grow gardens, to give a moment’s peace to those who can’t sleep or inspire fire and fear in the hearts of the cruel. Dream magic can be quiet, or it can be as awe-inspiring as any rune. But dreams don’t make sense. As much as they can understand about the rules of dreams, there are so many more that defy even the most sensible worlds.
Maybe dreams are the key to understanding Ging. Something he left behind for his son before he vanished, something he understood better than anyone else, so much that he finally got lost in them. Gon’s not sure.
What he is sure of is the impossible boy that drops in his dreams, haunting his waking hours with magic that isn’t only of the world and isn’t only of dreams, a dreamwalker named Killua that claims he doesn’t dream at all.
And how can there be magic without dreams?
Leopika
Leopika 1
Rating: Mature/ Explicit
Warnings/Triggers: Violence, Explicit Sex/NSFW Content, Self-Destructive Tendencies
Pairings: Leopika, probably some mentioned killugon at some point in there
(Modern AU)
When push comes to shove and rumors come to an irritating boiling point, Kurapika makes an impulsive decision to hire Leorio, a broke college student moonlighting as an escort, to help him take care of them. That part of his plan works just fine. It’s just that Leorio never took into account actually liking the guy.
“So wait, you’re hiring me to-“
“You know exactly what I’m hiring you for,” Kurapika says, short and to the point. Leorio politely refrains from opening his mouth, even though it’s probably the second time he’s been polite in his whole life. “You are sexually experienced. I am not. I am tired of my competence being questioned for something I have little interest in, so I’m handling it.”
Handling it by hiring an escort? Leorio opens his mouth, closes it, unsure of how or even why he’s trying to argue with this guy. As long as Leorio gets paid, what does he care?
And then, clearly unimpressed with Leorio’s silence, Kurapika raises an eyebrow. Fuck, Leorio is done for. He’s a goner. The condescension alone could cut glass. “Your… agency told me you were professional. Are you going to be able to live up to that? Or should I leave now and save myself the inevitable disappointment?”
Well, Leorio does have to pay for college somehow.
Leopika 2
Pairing: leopika
Rating: M
Warnings: mentioning of sexual harassment and physical abuse (choking in particular), implied emotional abuse, potential adult themes
Becoming the stylist of one of America’s currently most discussed solo artists isn’t quite how Leorio hoped to start his own career in the music industry, but it will have to do. He has a foot in the door now, and he knows this job can earn him some sorely needed connections. And the work’s not so bad either, even if it sometimes leaves his head spinning and his body struggling to catch a breath. It has quiet moments like these, when it’s just them and their little inside jokes and Kurapika’s dark eyes settle on him with a twinkle of amusement.
In which Leorio is an aspiring singer and songwriter and Kurapika is a musical prodigy with the temper of a rockstar. Together they face the dark aspects of the business and an utter lack of privacy while they pine for each other fiercely, either man unaware of the feelings of the other. Yet, when their first tour comes up, their patience and restraint is put to a new test. A small shared living space. Drunk impromptu karaoke sessions. A childish lovesong, written years ago, that Kurapika rather wants to forget about and that might easily give him away.
One of them is bound to slip up.
Leopika 3
Pairings: Leorio/Kurapika
Rating: T
“I wish we had more time,” Leorio said, voice uncharacteristically fragile. “God, I wish we had more time.”
Kurapika couldn’t bear the pain in the other’s words; couldn’t bear the terrible truth. He felt his eyes close, and he took a shaky breath. Me too, me too.
OR
Kurapika’s mission to retrieve the Scarlet Eyes from the Fourth Prince is a success, but at a steep price. Instead of feeling accomplishment at his deeds, however, he only holds regret. So he is given another chance, a segment of borrowed time to right the wrongs and to actually live. Still, borrowed time is time that must run out, and Kurapika battles with the knowledge that everything that he does, everyone that he loves, are bound to be lost.
Leopika 4
Pairing(s): Leopika Warnings: swearing (kind of a lot), relationship angst. Rating: T Leorio is thinking too much. About Gon and Killua, their brushes with death. About how much they’ve overcome in their young lives. About how inadequate he feels next to his friends, who have both suffered and accomplished so much. Leorio is left alone with these thoughts eating away at him after the Chairman Election and Killua and Gon’s departure - that is until Kurapika calls, saying he wants to meet up with him. In his emotionally fragile state, Leorio agrees, in spite of the knowledge that his reunion with Kurapika will dredge up even more difficult feelings - ones that he’s been trying to ignore since they were last together in Yorkshin. When Kurapika finally arrives, he sees a more vulnerable side of Leorio than he ever has before, and he finds himself in the unusual position of comforting the friend who up until now has always played the support role.
Phantom troupe misc
Troupe misc 1
Pairing: phinkuro (Phinks/Chrollo) Rating: M Warnings: Violence, trauma, physical abuse, forced captivity, descriptions of injuries and body trauma. Minor character death. Bruised and broken and shackled liked a dog in a cage, Phinks lived his life as if every day might be his last. He had no reason to hope for better; he had nothing beyond the steel of the ring, the glare of the lights, the jeers of the hungry crowds eager for blood– And even then, he only had that until he lost. Angels didn’t fly in this place… But one still came regardless.
Troupe misc 2
Warnings: Mentions of Violence, Language
Rating: T
Pairing: Shizuku/Franklin, Mentions of Uvogin/Shalnark and Pakunoda/Machi
In this world, romance is no mystery. Whatever is written on one individual will always appear on their soulmate’s skin, leaving no confusion as to who is destined to be together. It is a novel concept, a blessing meant to ensure that love is found and celebrated. To know you have a soulmate is to live knowing that some part of you is made for another.
Franklin, however, is not convinced that he has anything in common with whoever keeps scribbling constant, ridiculous reminders all over themself.
Troupe misc 3
Pairing: Kurokura
Warnings: swearing, violence, injuries, T rating There are a few perks to holding a grudge. Some enjoy the anger that boils under their skin, while others appreciate the fine art of vendettas. The best perk, however, are the clocks that seemingly appear out of thin air, as if they were tangible proof of one’s hatred. The clocks, simple in body and purpose, ranging from digital timers to hourglasses, have only one sole purpose: to show how long someone has to exact their revenge. Getting revenge within the time limit is top priority. Any action done within the time limit is overlooked by society and the law. Gossip has it that people call this the Grudge Rule, and that anything done out of spite past the time limit set is illegal. In this world, Kurapika was able to encounter and quickly befriend Chrollo. Though unbeknownst to the both of them, because of their meeting, the unfortunate of event of someone’s death was put into action, forcing them to deal with their pasts’ and relationships’, all while trying to find the person responsible for their suffering.

She was the owner of a small bar in the middle of a city that no one really knew. She was also one of the towns core protectors, guarding the streets from outsiders and embracing the fact she was a bit of a rebel at heart. He was a handsome traveller, and a collector of games, searching the world with nothing but a bag full of mysteries to his name. That, and the thought that he had to be somewhere, and meet someone, for a reason he just couldn’t recall. On a dreary, stormy afternoon, as the traveller enters her bar to escape the rain, he finds himself challenging her to a game. “My name is Meruem,” the traveller introduces, his smile one that could capture any heart in an instant. “My name is Komugi, and I hope you don’t think I’m going to let you stay here for free just because you might have a nice face. You’re still gonna have to pay for that drink if ya don’t want me to kick you out of this bar and back into that storm, because trust me, I will.” It’ll take some time, but star crossed lovers always manage to find their way back together again. Even if that means being in another city…both in slightly different, but very human forms…not able to remember who they were a lifetime ago.

Misc 2
Pairings: Killua and Kurapika Rating: M
Warnings: Graphic Violence, canon triggers from both Btoom! and HxH, angst, drama, implicated relations, slight time travel play.
Following a game ad developed by the Phantom Troupe, Kurapika finally has a lead on the monsters who took everything away from him. The game was called Btoom! The same one Kurapika was so disinterested in when he first saw it advertised. Now, however, he was going to hunt down the company and kill the developers. That was the plan, until he wakes the next night to discover himself trapped on an island. With only a pack of explosives and a sensor chip implanted in his hand to protect himself against people who wanted to kill each other! Shocking as that was, Kurapika quickly learns that he is in the game of Btoom! The same one that was taking up the crazed nation of his world, only this time it was undeniably real. As he continues to progress in the strange game of survival, his carefully cultivated hate over the years start to crack after he meets Gon, Killua, and Leorio, other survivors on the island, but so full of prospect for him that Kurapika began to develop feelings for them. But the game is more than trying for Kurapika, for he has to battle the demons inside his head as well, and figure out his ultimate decision: survive in this new place and win the game with his newfound friends, or risk everyone’s brittle safety to find a way to get off the island and defeat the troupe. Yet, what if he died in the game before getting his revenge? If he could get vengeance in the first place?
[Btoom! AU] a crossover *Btoom! is a manga/anime series about a survival game on a remote island. A supposedly harmless video game called Btoom! is recreated in real life. So the players, random civilians disowned by their loved ones through the btoom developers, have to kill one another by a set of rules to win the game and go home without help from the outside world.

A scrap of paper with a single line of notes from the Dark Sonata has appeared deep within the treasure trove of the Kakin Royal Family. When Senritsu learns of the Dark Continent expedition, she realizes she has one more chance to make things right before it all falls to pieces. Compelled by its lure, she rejects Kurapika’s offer to join the expedition as a bodyguard, and instead sneaks into the ship under the guise of a peasant searching for a better life. Hidden in the subaltern, she shadows the princes as she pieces together the reasons behind the Royal Family’s possession of the notes. Meanwhile, a clown stalks a cluster of spiders, but catches a hint of a melody in the wind. Putting his initial quest on hold, he offers a helping hand to the woman with the wide-brimmed hat. Following close behind is Kurapika, who knows his friend is stalking the princes, but can’t bring himself to question her motives when the Kurta eyes beckon him towards them. Maybe it’s fate, or maybe it’s the evil seeping out of every corner of the ship, but either way, a song haunts the hallways. It’s a song Senritsu knows well. It may be the last song she ever hears- and the last song she ever plays.

Although he bears no special ill will towards prospective new Boar Leorio, when Cheadle assigns Mizaistom the mission to locate the nigh impossible to reach Kurapika and invite him to join the Zodiacs at Leorio’s personal request, Mizaistom finds himself tempted to conduct his own investigation into who Rookie Hunter Leorio really is in order to uncover the true nature of Leorio’s connection to a flesh collector’s lackey turned mafia boss.
In a serendipitous encounter that promises to accomplish both Cheadle’s mission as well as his own, Mizaistom meets Leorio’s friend Zepile, an auction-savvy antiques trader with aspirations of becoming a Hunter himself one day. Mizaistom employs Zepile to serve as his undercover agent within the flesh collectors’ market, where he hopes to attract the attention of Kurapika’s henchmen and secure a meeting with their elusive boss face-to-face. However, the case demands a high level of continuous cooperation between the moralistic Ox and ex-counterfeiter Zepile, and over time, Zepile’s criminal past and what Mizaistom considers an insufficient effort to redeem himself test Mizaistom’s strict sense of justice and his belief that no criminal has truly repented a crime if they haven’t allowed themselves to be tried and held accountable by the law.

Merry xmas @milkboxe. Hope the holidays treated you well :) - @shalnarkonice ***
Whale island…was a summer paradise.
It was the perfect location one could escape to after a long, gruesome winter, or a particularly draining adventure. It was a town that held tradesfolk of all types. From Fishers to butchers, to shopkeepers and bar owners, and of course, a handful of cooks that filled day markets with goods.
It was an island where one generation would pass down all they knew to the next, and then the next after that. Family recipes became dirty little secrets. Each last name had a story and a past.
It was a humble and simple town, despite the beasts and the hunters, and the town lore about a family of Freecs.
There was something nice about being able to venture out onto the streets of whale island at any hour and find familiar faces chatting over coffee and sweets. Or to see the young adults of the town amble out of pubs in a dizzy haze, laughing and grinning and knowing that the only work they had the next day was for the family business.
It was lax. Much easier than city’s like yorknew and Blelike that were busy with the amount of people that shoved themselves into small units of the city, woke early, and stayed out late.
There was nothing like that here.
Nothing ever seemed rushed.
Even now, come the end of the year when it was a time of celebration and relaxation, the residents of Whale island seemed ignorant of the level of effort larger cities went through in order to ensure a lively and expensive holiday.
Killua was used to big spectacles. He had grown up in a home that (amongst the family job) offered him many perks such as gifts at every season as well a variety of inherited traditions from his grandfather’s travels around the world.
Killua was sure that the holiday season wouldn’t be the same here, on an island so remote, but that wasn’t going to stop him from celebrating it with Gon. That, and he had really wanted Alluka to experience the joy of the holiday season without having to be influenced by money, or advertisements, or gimmicks.
Was it that hard to ask for an authentic experience? Big cities seemed to ask too much from people.
Plus, Gon and Mito had accepted the two Zoldycks into their home with open arms. A week long getaway seemed to be what everyone needed.
Killua had come to learn quite quickly that Gon had become somewhat of a celebrity on whale island, not that Gon wasn’t known and adored by the inhabitants of this island already. Ironically, no one had ever heard the Zoldyck name. It was surprisingly refreshing.
Alluka had been overjoyed when she learned that they would be spending a week under the sun and near an ocean. Ever since starting their travels after visiting the world tree, Alluka and Killua had never been able to truly enjoy the seaside, too busy visiting the largest cities and most known landmarks that small pleasures often went forgotten.
Alluka, ever the eager one, had accepted camping as the norm, and for the first night the three pitched their tent near the shore and enjoyed a meal by the fire. The fish, to killuas horror, had been caught by gon’s own efforts, and grilled over an open flame on their campsite.
For a little bit, the nostalgia of travel stung and Killua knew that somewhere underneath the smiles and the effortless stories, Gon must resent killua for leaving (if even just by a little bit).
The next morning they had picked up a meal from the local market, sailed with the fishermen, and bought bags of snacks and drinks to share as they told great stories and recalled the past with vigor.
It had been around the third or fourth day where Killua had decided that as much as he enjoyed the simple bliss that Gon’s home had offered, a desire to do something wild overcame him.
With a grin on his face, Killua offered gon a proposition. A game of sorts.
Perhaps it would remind killua of the winter holidays he had spent at home as a kid.
“Killua are you sure?” Gon asks, slightly doubtful.
“Yea! Why, what’s the worst that could happen? You lose?” Killua barks back.
It didn’t take long of him to eat his words.
A fistful of sand in the face wasn’t nearly as fun as a snowball to one, Killua realized. Spitting and sputtering, Killua couldn’t even bring himself to be mad at Gon, who was apologizing nervously now as he rubbed the back of his head, realizing Killua’s idea to have a sand fight instead if snow may have been a terrible idea.
Even Alluka didn’t seem impressed with her brothers lack of common sense, and left him to flood his eyes with water from Gon’s water bottle in shame.
Whale island wasn’t the deal location to celebrate the holidays like how people did it in the movies. There was no snow. No green pine trees. No fireplaces in any of the homes to drink hot cocoa around or roast marshmallows around.
Not only did Killua have to deal with the burn of disappointment, but also the burn of gritty white sand to the eyes.
“I mean I did ask you.” Gon hides a smile, watching Killua struggle to keep his composure and not throw a fist.
“Yea well! I didn’t think you would hit me in the face. Cheap shot!”
Alluka snorts in amusement, “I don’t know what you wanted him to do. Ah! Are you going to eat that?” she asks, having already dug into killua’s bag of chocolate, helping herself.
“Yes I was!” Killua spins around, hair soaked. He grimaces, feeling the front of his shirt cling to his chest as water runs down his shirt. At least he could see now. “and I was trying to…ya know…celebrate the holidays. But we don’t have snow ok. I have to work with what we got!”
Alluka tosses a small coin sized chocolate into her mouth and takes a seat on the sand. Her usual skirt and shirt have been replaced by shorts and a tank top, as well as a simple black baseball cap. “Snow? I’m not sure what that is.”
Killua crosses his arms and takes a seat beside her, eyeing his bag of sweets but not daring to tear it out of her hands. He could never do something like that. Even if the chocolate did melt in his mouth in that oh so sweet way…
“Snow is kind of like sand,” Gon grabs a handful, “but softer. Fluffy. It doesn’t burn of you get hit in the face.”
Killua burns red in embarrassment. “You know if there was really snow here I would have-“
Gon falls backwards onto the sand, a cloud of dust picking up before settling. “One of the fun things you can do is make shapes!” he motions as his arms and legs move against the sand, making sand hunters (as Gon called them).
Killua could only watch in slight amusement as Gon sat up, covered in sand from head to toe. His usual dark hair was tinged with white.
“It’s not the same.” Killua cracks a smile, “but pretty close.”
“Why the big ol fascination with snow?” Gon questions knowingly, “not that I don’t love celebrating the holidays with family and friends, but there’s lots you can do even in a warm place like this.”
Killua, with the sun hot on his back, had a hard time believing that. “But there aren’t places to get sweet candies from, or places to get big trees to bring inside. There aren’t even decent Wi-Fi connections here to play games around a table of homemade snacks and eggnog.”
Alluka perks up at the mention of games.
Gon chuckles, sitting up and looking at Killua with amusement. “Sure, that might be true, but we have other things here too. Like baking our own sweet bread, or leaving fruit by the doors before we sleep so gifts can find their way to our shoes. We have big parties where we head to the lake and watch the fireflies and tiny dragonbirds dance across the sky like lights. And ya know, sometimes eating a good meal is a good time too.”
“I want to bake bread,” Alluka hums, “and Nanika wants to see the fireflies and lights.”
“We can!” Gon’s eyes gleam. “We can even do that thing they do on tv with socks nailed to the wall!”
Killua burst out laughing, “Do you mean hanging stockings over the mantel?”
“Yea those!” Gon nods but stops as he tries to think of where exactly he could get a pair of socks that big. It takes a moment, but he snaps his fingers and grabs one of his long green boots, “here, we can use these. I’m sure they’re big enough, Killua!”
“No way! They day I’d eat candy that’s been anywhere close to your feet!”
“Don’t be rude!” Gon hides his own laugh, “or I’m gonna beat you in a sand fight for the second time today!”
“Like hel-” Killua clears his voice, “like heck you will!”
“I won’t go easy!”
“Fine! Game on!”
Alluka, enjoying the warmth that came with an ocean view sighs in content, ignores the chaos of her brother and his best friend having it out through yells and bouts of laughter. They were enjoying their argument, perhaps a nostalgic reminder of another time.
It was nice to see them having fun. It made her think of how pretty the holiday season is, even without snow. At least she had good company, and really, that’s all she needed.
Whale island…was a summer paradise, after all.

Killua could give Gon credit: Whale Island was a beautiful place to grow up as a child. It fostered adventure and a sense of comfort that could only be described as “new.” Although the forests that surrounded the Zoldyck mansion were well-kept and familiar, this was something else entirely. Whale Island felt alive and free, without the sense of impending doom his family’s property had pressing on his shoulders. The woods he explored with Gon were serene and calm. Killua followed him through winding paths of mud, boggy in places as it fell into gullies and rose up the hills. They raced through the trees, leaping over thin winding creeks and slippery rocks. Killua dodged and zipped past rotting oaks and under lowered and snapped branches until everything blurred into dizzying blend of earthy tones.
Best of all he was able to do it all with Gon, and he wouldn’t want it any other way. The entire trip seemed “innocent,” a concept he was deprived of during most of his life. It felt almost strange to do so many things with so much freedom. It seemed like Gon had so much to share and Killua had so much to learn about having a normal childhood and a simple life. He could almost say he was jealous, though he wasn’t about to admit such a thing.
It was fun, something he wasn’t quite used to while growing up.
By the end of the day, Killua was worn out but quite pleased. Gon had taught him how to fish, and upon catching one they roasted it over a fire as the sun began to fall over the treetops. They had found a nice and quiet clearing to relax and unwind after the day’s activities, right next to a small lake. As twilight ensued, the surface of the water was as smooth as black glass. The thought of his eldest brother’s eyes matching its vacancy began to form in his mind, but he managed to push it away as he gave a glance to Gon. He was safe now, further away from his brother than ever before. Being by his side gave Killua more comfort than his own family, which mildly disturbed him but it was also a sign that he wanted something for once in his life.
He wanted to stay , and after Gon’s enthusiastic and endearing statement (‘Then let’s stick together,’ Killua recalled Gon’s assertion word for word, ‘We can travel around and see the world together!’) he was sure that his desire triumphed everything Illumi had taught him about his destiny and purpose.
“Killua are you okay?”
The words shook Killua from his thoughts. Gon was staring at him with a look of concern, his head turned to the side and the campfire’s flames flickering orange light over his face.
“What? Yeah. Why would you ask that?” Killua replied, his tone a bit drawn out and low.
“You look like you’re thinking about something.”
He was right of course, but it would be embarrassing to say it out loud. Killua chewed a bit on his cheek as he glanced away from Gon to stare up at the stars instead. What if Illumi was right? What if Gon would eventually become someone he got bored of? What if the happiness he felt with Gon faded and he would be left with nothing but sick thoughts and a morbid curiosity to see if he could kill his own best friend? That was the way he was raised, wasn’t it?
“Killua!”
He was snapped from his train of thought again, blinking several times. Gon was kneeling next to him, eyes a bit wide with unease.
“Are you okay?” he reiterated, his voice clear and sharp.
“Yes.” The lie slipped out smooth and easy. Why did it feel so wrong?
“You’re not, or else you wouldn’t go quiet.”
Killua growled a bit at that, sitting up to face him. “If you know that I’m not okay then why ask again, idiot?”
Gon’s eyes went downcast at that as he began to chew on his lip. “Maybe…because I expect you to be honest with me about how you’re feeling for once.”
His words struck Killua in the heart, a dull ache beginning to form in his chest. Honesty was difficult to come by within his own family and even harder to confront within himself. The truth is treason in an empire of lies, Illumi had drilled into him. Lies choke you and make you feel empty. That is the way you were born, that is the way you were raised. You’re a liar and a killer Killu.
“Gon…” Killua grimaced. “I’m sorry. I don’t feel very well right now but I’m not sure if I want to talk about it. It’s too personal.”
To Killua’s relief, Gon nodded.
“It’s okay! I think I know how I can help though.”
Killua groaned.
“Gon you don’t have to, I’m fine. The feeling will probably go away eventually anyways—”
But Gon was already standing up and moving away from him and towards the edge of the clearing. He seemed to be pulling some leaves from a small bush that Killua couldn’t recognize quite yet.
Gon made his way towards the campfire and sat down, patting the area next to him as a gesture to coax Killua next to him.
“What is that?” Killua asked as he crawled towards the spot, watching him curiously. Gon must have plucked a bundle and the shape of the leaves seemed familiar… Killua couldn’t recollect where he’d seen it before.
“Aunt Mito would make a tea from this whenever granny would have very bad aching in her bones. You can breathe in the fumes and it can act as stress relief and it can calm you down,” Gon explained as he began to tear the pieces of the leaves so they would kindle and burn better.
Killua was… skeptical.
“Are you sure inhaling fumes is safe?”
“It is! I see some of the fisherman down by the pier do it sometimes and nothing bad ever happens.”
The white-haired boy grumbled as Gon gave him the fresh bundle of the leaves. “Alright fine, but this better not screw me up too much.” Killua gave him a shifty gaze. “Have you ever even done this before?”
“Not until now,” Gon muttered. “But if you’re going to do it, I want to do it too. That way if it is bad, we can share its effects!”
“E-Eh?!”
But before Killua could say anything else, Gon was already inhaling through his nose, the bundle catching fire for a quick moment before going out. The smoke wasn't completely opaque as he let it puff from his mouth, but its long grey wisps seemed to curl in the air like cattails. He gave a quick smile to signal his state.
“I’m okay Killua, it’s not a big deal.”
“What do you mean it’s not a big deal, what if this is poisonous? You could die—” Killua gave a cough as Gon exhaled more smoke and blew it right in his face. The scent was distinctive, he acknowledged. It most definitely had a signature taste as well. “Fine fine!” Killua sighed, giving in. He touched the tip of the bundle of leaves to the flames cautiously and inhaled as Gon did, choking a bit on the strength of the stench. Just as he breathed in, he felt a sweet burning sensation curl throughout his lungs and throat.
Killua blinked a few times as he exhaled. It wasn’t entirely unpleasant, but it felt a bit unnatural. He testingly inhaled once more after lighting the tip of the bundle on the campfire, breathing in. This time he inhaled slowly, his system responding to the smoke, and he felt his lungs being wrapped by a warm blanket. Taking small, slow sips of the fumes, he felt delighted, like he had never felt before. “Hey Gon, this isn’t… that bad.”
“See… I told you…” Gon reassured him, the words drooling from his mouth slowly like syrup. He was sniffing the charred leaves curiously, thin strands of smoke lifting into his nose. His pupils were already decently dilated and his muscles in his back were almost completely unraveled and loose. Killua could sense his own tension fading away: whether it was from the smoke or being in the presence of Gon’s contagious emotions, he couldn’t tell.
Before Killua knew it, his back was on the ground and he was staring up at the sky. He wasn’t sure how he ended up in that position but his brain was lagging and he felt sluggish and tired, so it was likely he sprawled across the ground because it was cooler and more relaxing that way. He hadn’t realized how tight his muscles subconsciously were, like he was constantly vigilant for being attacked at any moment. But now… he was vulnerable. The thought would have made panic rise in his chest under normal circumstances, but he felt safe here. Safe with Gon, on Whale Island, far away from Illumi and his family.
Illumi. That’s what he was worried about. Before fear could claw itself back into his nerves it was already melting away. He could only think about Gon, focusing on his presence and how honest and there he was.
Killua reached up to touch his own face as he stared blankly at the sky, fingertips meeting with trails of wet tears rolling down his face. Is this what it felt like to be safe? To be completely comfortable, completely fearless? He wasn’t sad, he was happy. At least that’s what it felt like.
“Killua? Why are you crying?”
He vaguely heard Gon’s voice next to him and he felt a hand wrap around his wrist, but he suddenly felt too weak to move. It wasn’t the smoke, Killua acknowledged. He was resistant to all poisons, all drugs, but he couldn’t resist the way his mind succumbed to a source of comfort that wasn’t Illumi. A source of comfort that wasn’t pain, a source of comfort that wasn’t the cause of—
Killua’s breath hitched in his throat as he felt Gon’s fingers gripping a bit tighter, drawing him out of his painful turmoil of thoughts and fears. He looked to the side to meet those eyes, half-lidded and a bit glazed. Although Killua had taken a slight hit from the plant’s qualities, the high had only lasted a few minutes thanks to his background and resistance to intoxication. Gon on the other hand seemed definitely vulnerable to its effect.
“Killua, how do you feel?”
He felt his eyes soften at Gon’s words.
How did he feel?
Killua knew he would defend Gon with his life even if the odds were insurmountable. He would never betray him, never give up on him. He would never abandon him. He would never put him in danger, no matter how noble the cause may be. If he ever gave up on him then he will have slain himself, for it was Gon’s heart that pumped blood in his veins. With Gon he would always find his way back. When fear set his compass spinning, it wouldn’t matter which direction he took.
“I feel like I’m home,” Killua murmured, and that was the truth.
