What I'd want to see is Frollo and Gaston interacting here. Wouldn't Frollo consider this gluttony?

Who is your favorite of the first wave of VKs? There is no wrong answer.
Evie because my cousin, Dizzy Tremaine, really likes her and she's really nice and is in a business similar to the ones I want to be in.
In your own words, tell us why you want to come to Auradon. There is no wrong answer.
I want to come to Auradon Prep to further my education without the eyes of my mother on me and so that I can stop being a burden on my older sister, Ginny, who's had to take care of me and my big brothers—Mason and Glenn—since we were all born.
I want a chance at a future I can be proud of and to be a part of the world I've always watched from afar, and dream of.
I want to go to school in a place where I'm not being purposely failed by my teachers like the Queen of Hearts.
Furthermore, I wish to get away from my father before he realizes who I am and poses more of a risk to me than he already does (like he does did does with my half siblings half sister, Claudine).
I don't want to die here.
I would also like to get to know my sisters, Rapunzel and Cassandra, who are not on the isle with me and my other siblings.
Plus, I have a much better chance at becoming an actor, an Auratuber, a model, and a cosmetologist in Auradon than I do on the isle where the resources are scarce and such things aren't important.
Signature:
Gigi Gothel.

(Suggestion from @shouldwemaybe)
Isle Christmas traditions
The Isle of the lost isn’t a place many would consider “merry”…quite the opposite actually, joy is an unknown emotion to most residents of the Isle, schadenfreude sure, but not any forms of Joy or merriment. When winter rolls around, and when Auradonians start getting ready for the holidays, Isle residents find their own ways to celebrate…though that term is used loosely, more so “things done to make the winter more bearable”.
The pirates often found winter to be the ample time for “caroling”, or more accurately “getting drunk and singing sea shanties at the top of your lungs to distract yourself from the frostbite” (pirate ships aren’t exactly known for being warm places to sleep). This was a tradition that the lost revenge crew found themselves partaking in during Uma’s absence (Uma wasn’t very fond of the tradition as the pirates drunken singing often drove away customers). Harry, as de facto captain in Uma’s absence, was definitely a leader in this intoxicated choir, because if he drank enough rum and sang enough shanties…who’s to say his fingertips weren’t turning dark blue? Severe frostbite? No! You’re just drunk! (Safe to say Uma was less than pleased once Gil spilled the beans after she asked him where all the new scars on Harry’s hands came from)
The Tremaine’s were a more sophisticated lot, often decorating their apartment above the salon with whatever tossed out and broken ornaments from Auradon that came in on the barges, Anthony doing his best to make a nice dinner with whatever food was the least spoiled, and little Dizzy making gifts for her family, often taking inspiration from what she saw Evie wearing on TV and daydreaming about when she would get to Auradon and would be able to give her grandmother a broach made of real emerald or give Anthony a new coat not made from leather scraps
If you were of the more religious variety, Claud Frollo often held church services from inside the crepery (a church to some), though attendance tended to be low since most people abandoned their gods once they realized they were on the isle. The Tremaine’s were often in attendance, on occasion Captain Hook would be there if the sober guilt started getting to him, maybe a couple goblins wandered inside. Claudine didn’t mind her father’s sermons, it was nice change from him berating her and calling her a sin and disappointment. She always sat at the register listening to her father speak as she continued to serve customers that weren’t there for religion
The Legume family had their own traditions. Gaston would take his sons on a “hunting trip” on the far side of the isle, well…except Gil, he was too busy making sure no one had to cut off Harry’s hands because of the frostbite he refused to acknowledge. This hunting trip usually consisted of picking off whatever wildlife managed to survive on the isle and then taking it home for Gaston’s wife to cook into…they wouldn’t call it a feast, more so the only decent food the Legume boys are gonna see for a while. Gil’s stepmother, though married to Gaston, wasn’t terrible, she always saved a little bit of meat for Gil for when he came home, it wasn’t much but, better than nothing
Overall, the Isle of the lost is far from merry or very festive but…people adapt
Hope you liked this! It’s kinda short and admittedly not my best work (it’s kinda hard to come up with unique traditions while keeping the Isle’s normal levels of overall shittiness) I’d love to flesh out some of these ideas though so let me know if you have one in particular you’d like to see made into it’s own story! And feel free to keep giving me festive writing prompts!

Descendants Worldbuilding Notes
So the Descendants fanfic writers have inspired me to write my own work. Unfortunately, I prefer my works to be as canon-compliant as possible.
Since the the series is not consistent and the wiki isn't detailed or organized enough to show the parts I need, this is where my notes are going.
Isle of Lost
The island does not have access to any agriculture system. Most food is literal garbage collected from the Goblin Wharf. The only canon exceptions are Ursula's restaurant (makes sense, islands are surrounded by water), Shan Yu's Dim Sums (wide variety of dishes, probably spoiled ingredients) and Frollo's Creperie (._.)
There are three high schools: Dragon Hall, Serpent Prep, & Witch School. The first two are rivals.
The animal sidekicks also have children. Lucifer the cat had an entire litter (implying there was a female cat that gave birth to them). Small moray eels and spotted hyenas were gifted out in bags during a birthday party (not ethical IRL). Also crocodiles live there, mostly hanging around Captain Hook's shop.
Maleficent is highly influential and most on the island are scared of her.
With how the residents came from all over the world, the island would theoretically be big on cultural amalgamation? I mean the lack of agricultural ties would make it hard to get the spices for most foods but they had to pick up some things from the non-American-coded or non-human villains - especially the store-owners and teachers.
Auradon
If the canon map is the world map, geography is basically Pangea plus some islands. If not, there are regions of the world that are either unexplored or someone else's territory.
Everyone calls the government a democracy but it really leans more to a monarchy/oligarchy.
The use of magic heavily restricted. A lot of fairies do not like this.
There is a museum that contains powerful artifacts. It has hilariously bad security and teenagers keep breaking into it.
Animals are as sentient as humans, with human-like senses and views of the world.

Claudine Frollo Minor HCs
aka snippets of things in my draft that I might as well post + picrews
First pic is a 10-year-old Claudine after she forgot to tie her hair in a bun before going outside. It was Frollo's newly established rule, and she was still getting used to it. Her father blankly looked her in the eye for a good 5 seconds before harshly slapping her with the back of his hand. She stumbled to the ground due to the force and felt her left cheek bleed (the wound was made by the sharp edge of Frollo's ring). The scar retained even after the wound had healed.
Third pic is her in Auradon after getting adopted by Esmeralda and basically the whole fam. Or maybe the Madrigals. Idk please just give this child a proper family for heaven's sake.
She has wavy dark brown hair.
She has hazel eyes (brown with green flecks). Frollo may or may not have considered this as witchcraft because they appear to change color (as hazel eyes naturally do).
Her skin has a natural medium tan tone, but it appeared paler before she got out of the Isle due to her spending most of her time indoors.
She is good at sewing.
She is ambidextrous. Actually she is naturally left-handed but forced to use her right hand; that or like father like daughter I guess.
I'd like to think that she met an Isle kid at an early age that became her close friend ever since because said kid would frequently visit her in secret.
(A headcanon I'm debating about) Considering that the bell tower in the Isle is part of Dragon Hall, she only started to reside there after she somehow escaped her father (or she was cast out of their home because something happened or she did something, not sure) and Yen Sid had taken her under his wing which is how she got to be part of the Anti-Heroes Club. She rings the bells out of spite.
Eventually, she moves out of the bell tower due to the increasing danger of Maddy Mim's gang. She finds refuge with Uma and her crew.
No, there is no way that Frollo owns a creperie. I do not accept that and I never will.

Of this entire map, how much is canon and what isn't?
this is so late, but now you're asking.
almost none of it is canon, some of the businesses i've taken from the extended universe books, but their presence and placement has been made up by me, i have also added extra businesses where i felt it important.
canon schools, homes and businesses are, to the best of my knowledge:
dragon hall
serpent prep
bargain castle
jafar's junk shop
castle across the way
hell hall
ursula's fish and chip shoppe
hades' lair
curl up and dye
shattered lighthouse
doom cove
rickety bridge
ratigan's rickshaws
core four's hideout
gaston's duels without rules
frollo's creperie
hades' souvlaki
voodoo arcade
facilier's shop
shere khan's pawns
slop shop
hook's inlet and fishing supplies
horned king's cauldron repair
shan yu's dim sum
queen of hearts' salon
troll town
knuckle dusters
isle of the doomed
most of these businesses come from uma's wicked book, or the novels themselves.

Suppose you were on the Isle of the Lost. One of the villains/VKs is angry with you. Who would you prefer it be?
Harriet Hook
Claude Frollo
Dr. Facilier
Anthony Tremaine
Judge Frollo.
Preferably after he lost the support of his soldiers, which, let's be honest here, might be likely. He got them on the Isle. He runs a creperie and fortune telling business. Why would anyone listen to him then?
Also, I would love to punch him in the face.
Even if I broke my fingers, it would be worth it.
In case he does have very loyal batalion of ready-to-kill soldiers, I'd say Anthony Tremaine. He's the least lethal opinion and I'd like to live.
Also, I firmly believe that both Dr. Facilier and Harriet Hook could kill by both action and inaction, and, like, no, thank you.

𝐀𝐑𝐂 𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐎𝐍𝐒 : shi huyang / desiree .
𝐏𝐑𝐄-𝐃𝟏 / 𝐀𝐑𝐂 𝐈, 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐇𝐘 𝐎𝐅 𝐋𝐎𝐕𝐄 : Feeling the pressure to live up to her mother and grandmother's reputations and prove herself worthy of the love and care that her family gave to her, Desiree chooses to leave the comforts of the Red Lantern to commit herself completely to Uma and the crew of the Lost Revenge. This choice takes Desiree out of her safe and familiar territories and into spaces where she is forced to fight and defend herself by her own name and bearings.
Tensions between the pirates and Maleficent begin to rise and Desiree finds herself clashing swords in open conflicts, skirmishes and brawls to both protect their territory and take more from Maleficent and her allies. Desiree proves to be a vicious adversary during the conflict, pulling no punches and allowing no insult to go unanswered.
Desiree remains in contact with her grandmother and mother, visiting them at the Red Lantern over weekends and when she is not doing her duties as a member of the Lost Revenge crew, she still runs errands for her family.
𝐃𝟏 / 𝐀𝐑𝐂 𝐈𝐈, 𝐁𝐑𝐎𝐊𝐄𝐍 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐌𝐈𝐒𝐄𝐒 : Mal, Evie, Jay and Carlos are chosen by Prince Ben to attend Auradon Prep and a temporary ceasefire is declared across the entire island as factionless and factioned begin to organize for the barrier's destruction. Desiree splits her focus between the preparations for the Lost Revenge, and for the mobilization of her family's crews as well.
However, during the preparations, Desiree finds herself confronted by a painful truth about her father, Pony Sugrue. Desiree is forced to discover that her fathers only interest in her has been in the hopes of using their relationship for special privileges not only from the Red Lantern, but from her mother and grandmother as well. Disgusted by the truth, Desiree confronts her father and declares that she wants nothing to do with him.
During her argument with Pony, part of the barrier shatters and Desiree rushes to rejoin her crew. She is caught outside of Uma's territory when the riots start and is forced to fight her way back to Uma's territory.
𝐏𝐎𝐒𝐓-𝐃𝟏 / 𝐀𝐑𝐂 𝐈𝐈𝐈, 𝐑𝐈𝐒𝐄 𝐓𝐎 𝐅𝐀𝐌𝐄 : For two days and two nights, the violence of the Coronation Riots spreads throughout the Isle. In the chaos, the Lost Revenge crew claim the Curl Up and Dye and Frollo's Creperie and spend their days and nights protecting those that are under their protection. As the initial violence slowly subsided, Desiree leaves the relative safety of Uma's territory to find her mother.
As she returns to the Red Lantern, she finds that her grandmother's brothel has sustained only minor damage and that many of those within Mistress Ching's charge are safe. Desiree reunites with her mother and is thankful to find her family alive and well.
Following the Coronation Riots, Uma's territory expands and the reputation of the Lost Revenge crew grows. Desiree finds herself very busy in her efforts of helping Uma maintain her territory and fending off any and all attempts made by other factions or groups to take it from them.
𝐃𝟐 / 𝐀𝐑𝐂 𝐈𝐕, 𝐓𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐃 𝐂𝐑𝐎𝐖𝐍𝐒 : Despite Desiree's feelings and dreams of making a name for herself, one which she feels will live up to the devotion and care that her mother and grandmother have shown her her whole life, Desiree remains as a loyal deckhand of the Lost Revenge. She finds herself comfortable in following the lead of both Uma and Harry as her Captain and her First Mate, and works together with the rest of the crew to protect and defend what is theirs.
As a deckhand she has very broad responsibilities that involve debt collecting, message running, supply runs or pick ups, helping to maintain the ship, and keeping her eyes and ears peeled for any sign of insurrection or plots to Uma's command. Desiree is known to be something of a Jack of all Trades, knowing just enough about everything, to be immensely useful. She calls herself a Flinter, as she can flint among her crewmates helping with whatever jobs or errands that they need.
Desiree is called to return to the Lost Revenge after King Ben is abducted and aids in holding him prisoner. She takes part in the dock trade-off and is also present for the violent brawl that breaks out following the betrayal. Following Uma's escape from the Isle, Desiree returns to Ursula's Chip Shop with the rest of the crew to tend to wounds, injuries and prepare for Uma's success.
𝐏𝐎𝐒𝐓-𝐃𝟐 / 𝐀𝐑𝐂 𝐕, 𝐀𝐒𝐇𝐄𝐒 & 𝐃𝐔𝐒𝐓 : They failed. The barrier remains and Uma does not return to the Isle. Devastated and enraged, Desiree joins Harry and the crew in the violence that spreads like wildfire through the streets. Together they lockdown the docks and the surrounding North-Eastern area of the Isle alongside the other pirating crews, lashing out at any and all that attempt to spread the violence into their territory while using Ursula's Fish and Chips as a grounding point.
The Cotillion Riots are brutal and ruthless, somehow almost everyone on the Isle was swept up in the riots and very few found themselves untouched by the violence.
In the aftermath, Desiree votes for Harry to take over as Captain in Uma's absence, and attempts to reconcile their defeat at the hands of Mal and her friend. As Desiree helps to pick up the pieces of their damaged territories, she is met by one of the girls from the Red Lantern who tells her that the brothel was one of the buildings burned to the ground.
𝐃𝟑 / 𝐀𝐑𝐂 𝐕𝐈, 𝐒𝐇𝐑𝐀𝐏𝐍𝐄𝐋 𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐓 : Desiree was eventually reunited with her mother with help from allies and crew, and the Red Lantern was rebuilt. Over the years since Uma's absence, Desiree studied chemistry and crafting, creating a handful of extremely useful tools and equipment such as smoke and nail bombs, molotov cocktails, distractors, springtraps and various other boobytraps.
Desiree supplies the crew with these supplies, though she has sold them to other pirates as well, typically she keeps most to a selective clientele as she would hate for them to be used against herself or her allies.
As the Core Four begin visiting the Isle more and more with their intention of choosing more children to cross the bridge into Auradon, Desiree works to monitor their movements while on the Isle. Working together with various elements of the Isle to study the barrier and the means in which it is opened and closed every time they enter.
When the crew votes on who should make an escape attempt, Desiree is among those who votes for Jonas to escape rather than Harry as she is unwilling to lose another Captain. Despite her vote, Harry and Gil escape the Isle and leadership falls to Jonas on the Isle.
𝐏𝐎𝐒𝐓-𝐃𝟑 / 𝐀𝐑𝐂 𝐕𝐈𝐈, 𝐒𝐔𝐍𝐋𝐈𝐓 𝐀𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐔𝐄𝐒 : Uma, Harry and Gil return to the Isle in defeat, despite their parts in saving Auradon, they are condemned just like the rest of those unfortunate enough to be imprisoned on the Isle. Desiree is almost brought to tears when she sees Uma again, having believed that she would never see her Captain again, though the reunion is bittersweet, Desiree knew she would not trade her freedom for her Captain. Together the crew return to the Lost Revenge and a unanimous vote is cast for Uma to become their Captain again. They spend the next week telling each other stories and preparing for the rest of their lives on the Isle until the barrier finally falls.
Desiree accepts entry into an Auradon science programme that has her qualify for University Entrance after having dropped out of High School when she was fifteen. Both her grandmother and mother attend the graduation dinner where she received her High School diploma and her certificate in Engineering science.
Despite receiving her University entrance requirements, Desiree chooses to remain on the Isle as a deckhand to the Lost Revenge.

HARRY HOOK VERSE ARCS
* amended
PRE - D1, ARC I : Tension between the pirates and Maleficent's posse and allies are at an all time high. Encounter's exploding into open conflict, skirmishes and brawls. Now sixteen, Harry is a direct instigator for most open conflicts, causing destabilization throughout Maleficent's territories by targeting weak points in defenses and exploiting them. While he rarely comes face-to-face with the dragon fae, the pirates have caused numerous damages to property, trading routes and henchmen, usurping several supply transports. Harry finds himself engaging in duels most notably with Jay, ally of Mal and Harry's long time rival.
However, there is also tensions growing at home. Harry has defeated every member of the Jolly Roger in single combat except for his father. He has competed in Champion night, and his reputation on the Isle has only risen higher and higher. Harry, in a desperate act to force his father to acknowledge him as his son, challenges him to a fight in front of the entire crew.
D1, ARC II : As Mal, Evie, Jay and Carlos are chosen by Prince Ben to attend Auradon Prep, the Isle begins to mobilize. A temporary ceasefire has been declared across the entire island, all factions laying down arms and putting aside personal conflicts in order to prepare for the Barrier's destruction. Tensions are high, there is a powder keg of anticipation, restless and impatient for their chance to finally break free. Harry is placed in charge of ensuring that all pirates on the Isle, whether his crew or anothers, adhere to the ceasefire.
As Prince Ben attends his coronation and Maleficent escapes through a tear in the barrier, the streets on the Isle fill with the factions and the factionless, gathering at the bridge in order to be the first ones to claim their freedom. However, upon Maleficents defeat and Mal's betrayal, violence breaks out all over the island. Instigated by the Bogs Boys, riots spread like wild fire through the streets. Rallying to Uma, Harry and the Lost Revenge crew fight for their lives.
POST - D1, ARC III : The coronation riots lasted for two days and two nights before the last of the looters, rioters and thieves finally disbanded. In the chaos, Uma, Harry and their crew had claimed the Curl Up and Dye and Frollo's Creperie and spent their days and their nights protecting all those that were under their protection and then some. The violence, destruction and fires having claimed numerous lives, Harry and the others refused to rest. Instead, they picked their way through the destruction, pulling survivors from burned shells and rubble and began to clean up the streets. Others of the Isle began to follow Uma's lead in rebuilding what had been destroyed and the ceasefire between factions continued for a month before hostilities returned to normal.
Over time, Harry led the expansion of Uma's territory, taking Troll Market, Goblin's Wharf and Bargain's Castle since Maleficent's defeat and Mal's absence. Uma now holds the largest piece of territory between the second generation factions, which keeps Harry and the crew very busy. The Lost Revenge has become infamous and their reach on the Isle is far.
D2, ARC IV : Harry leads the crew's protection, extortion and ground forces under Uma's leadership, maintaining a chokehold on the docks and the wharf. Their numbers have grown exponentially due to their infamy among the Isle's second generations and have standing truces with the Cauldron Born, Red Hearts and Mad Hatters to allow their supply runners through their territory as well as allowing them to open several businesses up in the area.
Harry, however, has a long standing tension between himself and the Jolly Roger crew. For the last two years, Harry has not stepped foot on the Jolly Roger but is drawn back in when his sisters tell him about growing problems with the Bogs Boys. Later, Harry is forced to put his problems with the Bogs and the Roger aside, when they come into possession of the Auradon King himself.
POST - D2, ARC V : Following Cotillion and another failed escape from the Isle, riots once again spread throughout the streets of the island. These riots however were far greater, lasting for four days and four nights, the rage of the island was palpable and almost every resident trapped behind the barrier was swept up in the frenzy. With Uma gone, Harry took point during the riots, beating back any looters, rioters and instigators from Uma's territory with such a blinding fury that anyone that saw him fled at the sight. After the riots, Harry was voted in as the Lost Revenge's new Captain by unanimous vote and spends the next two years ruling over Uma's territory with an iron fist.
Harry turns his focus initially upon deserters, traitors and mutineers, eventually forced to overhaul the crew and banishing those disloyal to Uma. He then advances on territories that were stolen or destroyed by rival factions and once the area is rebuilt, negotiates an alliance with the Cauldron Born.
D3, ARC VI : Harry has been leading the Lost Revenge for two years. His reputation as being a terrifying and ruthless enemy but a loyal and protective Captain, has spread throughout the Isle. While many have approached Harry in an attempt to be recruited into the crew of the Lost Revenge, Harry has denied them all. Refusing to take on new crewmates without Uma present. Eventually, Harry and Gil escape the Isle in much the way Uma had the night before Cotillion and Harry is finally reunited with his Captain.
While reluctant and immensely suspicious of Mal and her team, Harry agrees to help them. Following Uma's lead, Harry struggles to refill the boots of First Mate after spending so long as Captain of his own agency.
POST - D3, ARC VII : As the barrier is finally destroyed, Harry and Uma oversee the arrival of new resources, materials and supplies for the Isle. Harry spends a lot of time with the Cauldron Born renovating the Isle before finally being able to work on the Lost Revenge. Harry works tirelessly to restore the ship to its former glory while working with Mr. Smee to learn how to read and write. With many Isle born leaving for Auradon, several of the crew leave the crew as well but Harry remains at Uma's side.
Only once the Isle is finally able to stand on its own without Uma, do they finally set sail and Harry has the perfect mark. The Lost Revenge and her crew, set off to steal the treasure hoard of Captain James Hook.

Headcanons: Harry Hook
Anon requested: “Do you write for Disney's Descendants? If so, could you pretty please do headcanons for Harry Hook dating the son of Mirage from the Aladdin television series? Thank you!!! 💙💙💙 If you can't, don't worry about it :3”
.
“Mirage, the Evil Incarnate, is a recurring antagonist in the Aladdin television series. She is the Queen of Evil in the Aladdin universe and can compete with Jafar and Mozenrath for the title of Aladdin's most dangerous foe.” —Wikipedia
~~~~~~~~
The Isle of the Lost was your home after your mother was taken from Morbia by Aladdin and Genie. She was reduced from queen of the Shadow Realm to working as a street merchant.
She often switched between blaming your father, Mozenrath, for not taking the two you to his palace where Aladdin wouldn’t have found you two to blaming you for your father not taking you in the first place (because apparently it was your fault when you were barely able to crawl).
You spent more time running around in the streets of the Isle than near your mother. She ran a little shop dealing in illegal magic objects and spells. You were in charge of finding and stealing the merchandise.
Harry was a close childhood friend, one that you had before anyone else. It was mainly because Captain Hook would buy objects he thought could get the Jolly Roger back to Neverland and Harry tagged along with him.
You were the one to ask Harry out first. You wanted him to ask you out but the boy picked up on your hints about as well as a genie gets along with Jafar.
Your date ended with Frollo throwing the two of you out of his Creperie for causing a ruckus. You suspected it also had something to do with the two of you being male (not that you were going to say that directly to the former judge).
For Harry’s birthday you stole possibly the rarest item of your mother’s merchandise—one of the few vials of pixie dust on the Isle of the Lost. She nearly scratched your eyes out when she found out, but it was worth it to see Harry’s smile.
He used it to take the two of you flying. Later you landed on the highest point in the Isle and talked about Neverland and Morbia.
“So what’s Morbia like?”
“It’s like a big dark void with stars and stuff, and in the middle of it all is my mother’s temple.”
“Interesting.”
“What’s Neverland like?”
“Well, there’s a mermaid lagoon, a pirate’s bay, and hidden treasures everywhere.”
“That sounds amazing.”
Although Uma acted like she didn’t care about you and Harry being a couple (“as long as you don’t distract each other!”) she was secretly happy for Harry. He was one of her closest friends and seeing him happy made her happy.
Gil was clueless as usual, but he always thought you two were cute together and would say it out loud.
Harry liked to take you out on boat rides on the water, which made your hair stand up on end because you lived in a desert and the void of space, NOT the sea.
We Work So Well And We Don't Even Know Why! (Part 1);
------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter 1: Zee Snoops.
Trigger warnings: Children endangering themselves, near death experiences, could be seen as bullying, swearing, threats of violence towards children, etc.
------------------------------------------------------------
Zee huffed, arms crossed, glaring daggers at Hannah. “How do you always manage to get yourself into these situations?”
The younger girl just pouted at her from where she was dangling upside down, outside of Frollo’s Creperie. “Are you gonna help me get down or not?”
“....yeah, hang on.” Zee surveyed the situation, then started climbing up the bricks of the building.
Once she was at the window Hannah was stuck in, she tugged slightly on her shoe. “D’you think you can land on your feet? Like a cat?”
Hannah thought about it for a long moment. “Maybe….?”
“Well, I think you’re gonna hafta risk it. I don’t see any other way to get ya down so…bombs away!” She tugged Hannah’s foot free of the window, sending the younger girl crashing down.
The pirate captain did not land on her feet like a cat. But luckily for her, Frollo broke her fall.
“Bah!” The judge fell flat on his face as Hannah landed square on his back.
“Oops.” Zee covered her mouth. “You okay, H?”
The brunette nodded, pushing herself to her feet. “Bit sore but otherwise fine.”
“Get off of me, you unruly miscreant!” Frollo bellowed.
Zee dropped down from the wall, landing on her feet, at least. “Time to run, Cap?”
Hannah looked at the fallen old man. Looking bored. “Nah.”
That made Frollo splutter. “I shall whip the two of you if you do not cower at my presence!”
That gave the twelve year old pause. “On second thought…”
And with that, she bolted.
“Figured.” Zee rolled her eyes and half-heartedly started jogging after her, trusting that Old Man Frollo wouldn’t catch up, especially with the new back problems he must’ve now had.
Hannah just giggled in response. “Last one to the ship is a rotter!”
Zee scoffed. “You do realize that your pirate-y insults mean nothing to me, right?”
“Last one to the ship is Frollo's wife to be!”
“OH NOW IT’S ON!” Zee increased her speed significantly. She wasn’t an athlete by any means, but she’d move mountains in order to not lose.
"Je vous salue, Marie pleine de grâce ;
le Seigneur est avec vous.
Vous êtes bénie entre toutes les femmes et Jésus,
le fruit de vos entrailles, est béni.
Sainte Marie, Mère de Dieu,
priez pour nous pauvres pécheurs,
maintenant et à l’heure de notre mort…"
Crack.
“Non...Je vous...salue, Marie pleine de grâce ;
le Seigneur est avec vous.
Vous êtes bénie...entre toutes les femmes et Jésus,
le fruit de vos entrailles, est béni.
Sainte Marie, Mère de Dieu,
priez pour nous pauvres pécheurs,
maintenant et à l’heure de notre mort!”
The soft droning of a young mademoiselle obediently reciting the sacred, holy words taught to her long before that day could be heard if one were to listen hard enough whilst creeping along the upstairs living area that lay above Frollo’s Creperie. Whilst her words were soft and quiet, the unmistakable sound of an unknown object cracking against the subject of this torture in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit soon followed after every recital of the French prayer.
With every crack against her frame, the young mademoiselle was urged to put more and more feelings and sincerity into the words. It was already beginning to be a struggle to form the sacred words with her lips that had to be pressed ever so tightly together to stop her from letting out cries of anguish in pure agony. Her eyes were squeezed shut tight to stop the beast of a man subjecting her to such torture from seeing her cry; she did not want to give him anymore perverse, sick, sadistic pleasure that he was already getting from this.
The innocent mademoiselle was kneeling in front of a makeshift wooden altar on which lay many religious items: a cross fashioned from iron, goblets made from tin, rosary beads made from wood and glass and the most terrifying of all was the heavy, leather-bound Holy Bible that the young woman had been on the receiving end of a blow from many times in the past. Her hands lay atop the altar as she knelt on the uncomfortable, splintered wooden floor below her tiny frame; her body was shaking...though it would not be known as of yet whether it was from fear, genuine coldness or due to the fact she had been forced to hold that position for a number of hours.
The hands atop the altar were pressed together tightly and her fingers laced together in prayer, though that was not enough for the tyrant conducting this operation. He had taken his heavy, metal-crafted rosary beads from around his neck and wound them around her wrists until they could no more to keep the hands of the young sinner together in prayer. The beads were tight and dug uncomfortably into the soft and pale flesh of the young woman’s tiny, sparrow-bone wrists.
The young lady at the altar was frightfully petite. Her loose, white dress hung shapeless around her non-existent chest and body, her wild locks that hung around her face and down her back were raven-coloured and very dishevelled. The locks atop her head reached her lower back and hid the pale face that was streaked with stray tears. “Please Papa...I cannot do this anymore...I am tired...I beg of you, let me rest…”
The heavy footsteps of a man in leather boots freaked behind the girl, yet no words were spoken, The silence frightened her the most for she did not know what La Bête was going to do to her next. Of course this man was not a raving monster with thick fur and sharp fangs...he was an ordinary man of the church wearing flowing robes of fine, coloured material and a white piece of cloth draped around his neck to show his position as a man of God. The face of the supposed man of faith was thin and firm; he looked remarkably like a bulldog chewing a wasp most of the time and especially when dealing with his young daughter that knelt in front of him, begging for her release.
“How many times have you prayed to Our Lady? And don’t you dare lie to me…” the man stalked in front of his victim and placed his hand out, holding her chin in his right hand before kneeling down to her, looking straight into the tiger’s eye-like hues that stared into his own. The eyes of his daughter held a mix of amber, brown and yellow; the man of God could have sworn that on occasion he had seen the flames of hellfire in her eyes and as a result, she must be persuaded to see the light of the Lord. “I can always see when you are lying, petit oiseau…God can see when you are lying also...choose your words carefully.”
The sniffling young lady took a deep breath and swallowed the choked up tears that were desperately attempting to escape her. “Seven, Monsieur Frollo…” she whispered, awaiting the approval of her father.
Claude Frollo. The righteous man of Paris. Subjected to life on the Isle of the Lost with a daughter that had the devil waiting for her to go to sleep so that he could enchant her soul with images of free will, the taste of butter and finery. Of course, Claude Frollo was no stranger to the workings of the devil...for he had seen them all whilst residing in Paris. The one he remembered the most was the time a beautiful siren in the form of an “innocent” Gypsy girl serenaded and enchanted him into committing acts that he would never usually get involved with...he wished to separate himself from the licentious, lustful crowd of France, yet in turn he found himself engaging with them.
Oh how he longed to possess the heart, body and mind of that Gypsy...yet it was not to be. Therefore, he had to give her a cruel ultimatum and when that did not work, he simply took what was his. The result? A broken heart, shattered reputation and a spawn of Satan himself living under the roof of the only piece of French culture he had managed to force upon the piss-poor island.
Seven, Monsieur Frollo…
“And just how many ‘Hail Mary’ prayers are in our rosary, little bird?” Frollo asked his pathetic, snivelling daughter as he let go of her face and stood up to his full height, looming in front of her. “ten ‘Hail Mary’, one ‘Lord’s Prayer’ and a ‘Glory Be’...” his daughter responded, swallowing the last of the choked up tears inside of her and staring up at her father. “Then that is what you shall recite…”
“But-“
Frollo ignored the protest of his daughter and returned to his place behind her as she began to recite the words forced upon her once again. The last three prayers to Mother Mary, then a prayer to the Father and a last but not least, a Glory Be. She bowed her head in silence as she exhaled a sigh of relief.
“Please may I go now?” she asked. Frollo, in turn, untangled the rosary beads from his daughter’s wrists and motioned for her to stand. She did so rather shakily as the leather boots she wore creaked across the floor as she headed for the door, unable to contain her anticipation of being out of the presence of her father.
“Are you forgetting something, girl?” Frollo crosses his arms atop his chest and awaited for his daughter to turn. She did so rather slowly before seeing her father dangling the leather belt with the heavy buckle made of iron that had been cinched around the long, white dress that she was wearing. Walking slowly towards her father, the young, plain girl held her hands out to take the belt from her father.
Quick as a flash, the towering man crossed the belt over and whacked across her soft, white hands with the leather belt before pressing it into her hands. His daughter closed her eyes, allowing a tear to escape her left eye. “Thank you…” she whispered. “Get out of my sight…” Frollo was quick to respond and the young woman wasted no time in practically flying out of the room and across the hallway to her own simple room that held nothing but a bed, a single wardrobe and a similar altar to that in the makeshift church she had previously been to. There was no window, nor no mirror. The only colour in her room was the decorated, purple, silken scarf that held beautiful designs of celestial images on it that she kept hidden under her bed. The only thing she had of her mother.
Still sniffling, the young lady sat on her bed in silence. She heard her father in the makeshift church, humming to himself. It was not long before he creaked downstairs to the creperie, an attempt to earn them a living. Claude Frollo’s daughter lived a rather lonely life...though it would not be lonely for long. Outside of the small room, on the streets of the isle, she heard clamouring, restlessness...something happened, though this was not out of the ordinary, there were always fights breaking out at some point or another on the isle.
“Jade! I require your help down here!” Clause bellowed up the stairs and immediately the one now known as Jade slipped a pale blue apron over the white dress and quickly pushed her tousled locks into a bun before running downstairs.
Maybe one day...I will be free of all of this...of him…
*****
“So...whatcha got for me today huh?” a cocky, female voice rang out from behind a ruby-red, velvet curtain etched with golden lace. “Jewels...lots of precious jewels…” grunted a man with an eye-patch over his right eye, a tattoo of an anchor on his left, muscular bicep. He leant his arm on the wooden, splintered counter of a run-down looking shack. The shack was attached to the wreck of a ship with a sign on it reading “Sparrow’s Curiosities” and underneath that, it read “Got no cash? We’ll buy your precious items for coins.” Of course, words were misspelt and the punctuation and grammar was horribly inaccurate...it was obviously written by someone who was not the most literate one on the isle…
Heavy boots and jangling bags of coins could be heard moving about as a young woman with wild, curled, brunette hair mixed with violet, sea-green and dark blue streaks and a pirate hat on her head stepped out from behind the curtain. She had a slight, healthy tan to her face, yet her eyes were piercing emerald. “You ain’t gonna try and screw my dad over again this time are you?” she asked, leaning her arms wrapped in leather bandages on the splintered counter. The girl was wearing a black shirt that was cut off at the sleeves and had a buckled belt made of brass and leather around her waist, showing off the curves that she was gifted with. At her side lay a long cutlass that was carefully bound in place by a belt hanger.
The pirate in front of the counter pushed a woven bag of gemstones down in front of him and the girl and awaited her judgement of what he had brought in. Opening the bag, she looked inside of it and watched the sparkling gemstones glimmer in the dimmed light of the shack. Bringing out one of the stones, She examined it carefully. “Are you trying to fuck with me?” she asked, green eyes fixed on the gemstone then at the man.
Bringing her hand up above the table, she slammed it down, the gemstone making contact with the wooden table...as it did, it shattered into hundreds of tiny pieces. “Fake...it’s just glass, you sea slug!”
The girl drew her cutlass with a satisfying scrape as the metal sword was drawn from it holster. “Get out of here before I shish kebab ya…” her voice was low, a growl, as she stared at the man in front of her who swallowed hard. “Goddamnit...I need money, I ain’t got nothing valuable…” the man began to plead with the younger woman, something that was never expected to happen at all. “We ain’t a charity...so get out of here, Bucko…”
The man went to take his bag of gemstones but the girl quickly pulled the bag off of the table. “You know the rules...you try to screw us over and we keep the item free of charge...call it compensation for wasting our time…” she winked, clicked her tongue and headed back behind the ornately dressed curtain where a man was sitting at a table counting golden coins. His hair was braided and on his head, he wore a scarlet bandana. He had a neatly trimmed moustache and beard and wore typical, brown pirate attire with black leather boots. His grubby fingers held in brown leather, fingerless gloves counted golden coin after golden coin.
“Dad?” the girl asked as she entered, clutching the bag of jewels. Her own leather boots squeaked as she headed towards the man known as her father. The notorious pirate laughed heartily as he heard his daughter’s voice; she was his ultimate pride, joy and one love other than materialistic objects. He had taught her to cheat, lie, steal and swindle and everyday he saw her put his teachings into action.
Standing up, the pirate turned, his face visibly pleased to see his daughter as she clutched a bag of gems. “So...what do you have for me?” The pirate’s smile grew as his daughter set the bag on the table where the gold coins lay.
“Ha ha!” The pirate laughed again as he opened the bag and checked the gems for authenticity. “How much did this cost us, hmm?” he asked, suddenly feeling sick at the thought of how much his daughter might have given the punter for these beauties. “Nothing at all…” His daughter smirked as she responded to her father.
The father looked visibly concerned. “You didn’t offer him anything else did you...do I need to track this man down…?” The growing protection from the father heightened as he thought of someone violating his daughter in exchange for a few...very...stunning gems…
His daughter scoffed in response and looked visibly disgusted. “Don’t be ridiculous. Nah, I used this…” she fumbled in her pocket and flicked a shining blue gem to her father. The father examined the gemstone and then turned to his daughter…
“Fake gemstone trick? You little beauty…” he rushed to his daughter and grabbed her by the face, pressing a kiss to her forehead. “Well, well, well. Looks like I have taught you extremely well! Tonight, the rum is on me!”
@excaliburkcng like for a starter
Darrina pressed her hand to her sword as she watched all the other children walk by. She was waiting for Hados to come out with their crepes from Frollo's Creperie. They weren’t any good but they were better then anything that Ursula sold in her Fish and Chip shop. She grinned as her friend left the building. “Crepe, please!” She exclaimed, holding her hand out.
