How Corporate Investigators Uncover Vendor Fraud & Misrepresentation?
In today’s complex business landscape, partnering with the right vendors is critical to an organization's success. However, when vendors misrepresent their capabilities or engage in fraud, companies face risks such as financial loss, reputational damage, and disrupted operations. This is where Corporate Investigation Services In Mumbai play an essential role, employing specialized techniques to detect vendor fraud and misrepresentation and safeguarding business interests.

Thorough Background Checks: One of the first steps investigators take is conducting comprehensive background checks on vendors. This process goes beyond basic information verification to include reviewing the vendor’s history, legal records, financial standing, and reputation in the industry. By doing so, corporate investigators help companies avoid partnerships with vendors with a history of unethical practices.
Financial Audits and Forensic Accounting: Financial audits are another crucial tool corporate investigators use. These audits can reveal discrepancies, hidden debts, or fraudulent transactions within a vendor’s finances. Forensic accounting is particularly useful in detecting instances where vendors attempt to inflate profits or hide liabilities, allowing businesses to assess the vendor’s true financial health.
Document Verification and Compliance Checks: Vendor fraud often involves presenting false or misleading documentation to the partnering company. Corporate investigators examine these documents to verify accuracy and authenticity, ensuring compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory standards. This verification process may include cross-checking licenses, certifications, and other credentials, and identifying any red flags early on.
Supply Chain Analysis: Corporate investigators also look into the vendor’s supply chain to ensure that it aligns with the company’s quality standards and ethical guidelines. A weak or unverified supply chain can lead to product quality issues, delays, or even legal liabilities. By analyzing the supply chain, investigators can detect any vulnerabilities or misrepresentations regarding the vendor’s sources.
Surveillance and Data Monitoring: In cases where misrepresentation is suspected, investigators may employ surveillance or digital monitoring to observe vendor activities and communications. This technique can uncover instances where a vendor may be over-promising, inflating capabilities, or engaging in unethical practices.
If you or anyone you might know is searching for a Corporate Investigation Agency in Mumbai, then you don’t have to look for it because we are your destination.

Four teens arrested in Perth over 'sickening' Grindr attacks
New Post has been published on https://qnews.com.au/four-teens-arrested-in-perth-over-sickening-grindr-attacks/
Four teens arrested in Perth over 'sickening' Grindr attacks
Four teenage boys have been arrested over a series of “sickening” alleged assaults and robberies of gay men lured via Grindr in Perth.
WA Police allege that two separate attacks occurred when the group of boys used Grindr to lure men to vacant land near a park in the southern Perth suburb of South Lake.
The accused allegedly posed as a man on Grindr to lure their victims to the remote location.
Police allege when the men arrived, they were confronted by a group of males armed with crowbars, machetes, pepper spray and other weapons.
It’s alleged that the group also threw rocks at one man’s vehicle as he tried to escape, while the second victim’s car was stolen, and he was left with a large laceration to his arm.
On Thursday (September 19), two boys, aged 15 and 16, appeared in Perth Children’s Court on Thursday and were remanded in custody over the attacks.
Police later also charged a 16 and a 17-year-old, both from Hamilton Hill, over the same incidents.
Detectives alleged the boys hurled homophobic slurs at the victims during the alleged assaults, which the boys allegedly filmed on their phones and posted to social media.
It’s understood the police are still searching for three additional suspects.
Prosecutors alleged in the Children’s Court on Thursday the attacks were “hate crimes” and “targeted, premeditated offending.”
The judge denied the first two teen boys bail over the “very, very serious” alleged offences. They were remanded in custody.

Police appeal for information on Grindr assaults
WA Police say theyre continuing their inquiries and have appealed for any other potential victims to come forward.
Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report online via www.crimestopperswa.com.au.
Contact police on 131 444, or report the information via the Safe2Say online reporting platform.
“We take this behaviour extremely seriously and there is no place for this kind of targeted violence in our community,” Detective Inspector Matt Froude said.
“While incidents of this nature are rare, we treat them with the utmost seriousness. We encourage victims to come forward so we can investigate.
“Anyone engaging in this kind of behaviour should expect WA Police officers to come through their door.”
Detective Inspector Froude said dating app users should exercise caution to ensure their safety.
“If you arrange to meet with someone over a dating app, meet in a public, well-lit place with plenty of people around,” he said.
“Let your family and friends know where you are going and who you are arranging to meet.
“Some of these apps have built-in safety features that allow you to share your live location with trusted contacts for added security during meet-ups.”
The 15-year-old and 16-year-old accused will return to court next week.
‘Hope the book is thrown at these people’
WA Premier Roger condemned the “insidious” and “sickening” attacks.
“What a horrible way for someone to perpetrate a crime in Western Australia,” he said.
“Not only to undertake that activity, but to conspire to undertake that activity. I hope the book is thrown at those people. These are sickening acts.
“We want Western Australia to be a peaceful inclusive and safe place for everyone to live. There is no room for that sort of activity.”

Insurance companies have recently realized the impact of data science and analytics on their bottom line. They are now investing in technology that will help them reduce costs, increase revenue and improve customer satisfaction.
In the insurance industry, data science and analytics play an important role in providing better customer service. These two terms provide information about a person or group of people to make decisions on what they need. Data science helps in understanding customer needs by collecting data from different sources and analyzing it using computer algorithms. Analytics helps determine what customers want most by analyzing their needs and behaviors.
Data science and analytics in Insurance
The use of data science and analytics in Insurance can be divided into three categories: predictive modeling, descriptive, and prescriptive modeling.
1. Insurers use predictive modeling to identify potential risks on actuarial grounds that may lead to loss or damage for their clients through statistical techniques such as regression analysis or neural networks.
2. Descriptive modeling involves using historical data to describe past events (such as claims rates) or trends (such as claims patterns).
3. Prescriptive modeling involves using predictive models to make recommendations about managing risks based on what happened in the past. For detailed understanding of these concepts, refer to the data science course in Chennai, accredited by IBM.
4. Insurance is a complicated business, and it would be effective to use data science to improve the efficiency and profitability of the insurance industry. The following are some of the applications of data science applied in the insurance industry.
1. Automated Insurance Fraud Detection
Detecting fraud is not only necessary for avoiding financial losses but also a valuable contribution to society in general. Nonetheless, some insurers continue to depend only on the claims adjuster's gut instinct for fraud detection, resulting in unreasonably high expenses. With the emergence of big data and increasing access to third-party data to supplement investigations, it is time to shift away from the claims adjuster's gut feeling and toward a more data-driven approach, not to mention the enormous time savings and process optimization advantages.
Fraud detection tools identify fraudulent activities, suspicious relationships, and subtle behavioral patterns using various techniques such as text mining and image screening.
A constant stream of data must be provided to the algorithms in order for them to detect fraud automatically. This information is either from internal records of prior occurrences of fraudulent conduct or from external fraud pools that have been analyzed using sampling methods.
Predictive modeling methods are also used in this case for fraud analysis and filtering. Identifying linkages between suspicious actions aid in the detection of previously undiscovered fraud schemes. In the end, insurers who use these platforms will significantly reduce the number of false claims, resulting in huge savings
2. Healthcare Insurance
The practice of health insurance is commonplace worldwide. The costs associated with a disease, an accident, a disability, or death are typically covered. Governments in many nations have been vocal supporters of healthcare insurance policies.
The influence of data analytics applications is unavoidable in the era of rapid digital information flows in this area. The market for healthcare analytics is expanding rapidly on a global scale. The insurance industry is under constant pressure to deliver better services while lowering costs.
For the healthcare insurance industry, various data are gathered, organized, processed, and transformed into insightful knowledge. These data include insurance claims data, membership and provider data, benefits and medical records, consumer and case data, internet data, etc. As a result, factors like cost savings, healthcare quality, fraud detection and prevention, and consumer engagement may all significantly improve.
1. Customer Lifetime Value (CLV)
Customers' lifetime value (CLV) is a complicated concept that expresses how valuable a customer is to a business as the difference between revenues earned and expenses incurred throughout the entire future relationship with the customer.
Customer behavior data is typically used to estimate the CLV and forecast the customer's profitability for the insurer. The behavior-based models are thus frequently used to predict cross-selling and retention.
Recency, the financial value of a customer to a business, and frequency are considered crucial variables when estimating future earnings. In order to create the prediction, the algorithms gather and process all the data.
This makes it possible to predict whether customers will maintain their policies or cancel them based on their behavior and attitudes. The CLV prediction may also help develop marketing strategies because it puts customer insights at your disposal.
2. Automated Risk Assessment
An automated risk assessment tool enables you to get to know your customer (KYC), do thorough customer due diligence, and evaluate the risk a customer needs to cover. Adopting risk assessment techniques in the insurance sector ensures risk prediction and reduces it to the bare minimum to reduce losses.
Proper risk analysis takes time for insurers as you have to consider what to cover and who you are insuring.
An automated risk analysis tool allows you to gain real-time access to internal and external data. The risk assessment tool assists you in making quick decisions based on your appetite for risk and data. This accelerates your digitalization and improves the customer experience because the consumer can determine whether or not the insurance policy has already been authorized in seconds.
3. Claims Automation
Claims automation systems offer one of the biggest options for insurers to position themselves from the market and engage their customers for a lifetime.
Claims automation technologies can assist insurers in optimizing claim workflows from the initial report of loss through settlement, saving time and building stronger relationships with policyholders.
P&C insurers place a high priority on determining damage estimates for a specific claim. The evaluation is frequently based on information gleaned from various sources, including emails and other paper-based or PDF formats, such as damage predictions or police reports. In such instances, an AI algorithm may be trained to extract the relevant data from each document reliably.
Once the claim information is structured, it can be analyzed using robotic process automation (RPA) and artificial intelligence (AI). It decides whether or not the insured has enough coverage. If a claim is evaluated and determined to be low risk, it may be allowed for instant payout or triaged to an adjuster if it is more complex. If a high-risk claim is found, it is forwarded to a special investigative unit for additional review.
Data Analytics in Insurance – The Future Implication
The insurance industry is adopting data-driven models and machine learning techniques to better manage risk and to create products by analyzing massive amounts of data. Overall, the insurance industry is one of the best industries for using predictive analytics and data science as there is plenty of information available about insurance history. This will help improve their profits, reduce wastage in each operation, and increase their client's success rate by getting predictions about the right customers using analytical tools like logistic regressions and decision trees.

I see you in grems tags.
So i challenge you to detwinkify Arthur, go wild, give the bastard a gut, lord knows he needs the food
Ahh see I would, anon, but one of the hc's I'm more firmly committed to is that Arthur is one of those motherfuckers that could eat and eat and eat and not gain a single pound (and it probably irritates the hell out of him). THAT SAID. I have always disliked twink Arthur (understatement) and I generally try to avoid writing him that way.
For example, in Thief of Spades, I deliberately flipped the typical Alfred and Arthur body types, so Alfred is shorter than Arthur (by a couple cm's/an inch). Arthur's appearance is a little inspired by the "burly detective" trope so I think I describe him as being built like an old-school boxer, whereas Alfred is described as more nimble and slender.
I do have some general ideas about my appearance (unless otherwise specified) headcanons, but here's the short(ish) version: I think of Arthur as someone who has weathered, hands whose knuckles have been broken quite a lot... nose too LOL He's one of those people who when you first meet him, you can't decide if he's handsome or not--he's a bit odd, otherworldly, and possibly unsettling, immensely ancient and young/quite mischievous at the same time; Schrödinger's hotness, if you will--and the only thing that resolves this question is how well and in what way you get to know him.
When he was very young (child-teenage years), he probably looked very odd in a more off-putting way where a lot of people might describe him as homely or even downright weird.
He mostly grew out of it, but not quite and so what you think of him as a person plays a larger role in determing what he actually looks like in your mind: enemies will think of him as more grotesque, friends will see him as vaguely handsome, and lovers will think he's the most beautiful person that ever existed. Relationships being complicated as they are, one person can be all of these things and think all of these things at various times.
Think Brian Froud's faeries. He has a lot of that energy going on.
ahhh I got a bit carried away, quelle surprise, BUT YOU KNOW WHAT, ANON >.> I will take up your challenge in that I will write something that more explicitly uses these ideas. There's actually a couple fics I have in progress in which I can turn it up a a few notches so P: my erratic non-existent posting schedule being what it is... you may see them sometime before the year of our lord 2123.
#anonymous#thank you for the ask!#long post#reference#i'd much rather see Alfred as the twinky sex kitten babygirl etc XD#PS if your omega Alfred isn't shorter than your alpha Arthur you're a coward ;P

Have you read 'Elizabeth: The Fogotten Years' by John Guy? I've heard nothing but bad things about him, but is he really so unreliable? I've seen a reasonably cheap copy that I might get for my birthday, but it depends on your opinion. Thank you.
Yes, I have read it. I really appreciate the trust you put in me - thank you so much! - but if you want to buy it, I will not dissuade you. I can only share my thoughts on the book.
I didn’t like it but not because John Guy would be incompetent. On the contrary, he is one of the most highly regarded Tudor historians working today. Unlike Allison Weir, for example, he knows his stuff. I don’t question his academical credentials. However, precisely because of his vast knowledge in the field and academical credentials and the fact that his word bears weight the more is expected and demanded from him than Alison Weir. So if I see him leaving out things from his narrative that may change the picture he paints naturally it’s not because he is ill-informed - again, he is not Alison Weir or Philippa Gregory, he knows his stuff. Why then? My answer is because they don’t fit in his thesis but since he maintains that his version is the true one thus, in my opinion, indirectly discrediting the work of his colleagues which doesn’t match his vision he comes across as a hypocrite.
My major complaints are:
He is very biased against Elizabeth. Can’t help but think that his attitude has something to do with the fact that Elizabeth executed his favourite Mary Queen of Scots and it was Elizabeth who survived and not Mary. He tries to spin every fact to Elizabeth’s disfavour. Even more, he manages to spin facts that seem to speak well of Elizabeth to her disfavour! In this respect very characteristic is his treatment of John Harrington’s quote about Elizabeth as sunshine and thunder where he completely ignores the sunshine part. Elizabeth is stripped of all her charm and kindness in this book. Consequently he refuses to those close around her like Cecil and Dudley any sincere affection towards Elizabeth, every gesture, every sign of it is attributed to flattery to get what they wanted from her. She is constantly called ‘childless/barren spinster’ throughout the book as if her childless state were distasteful to Guy, and, of course, his take as fits for a true hagiographer of Mary Queen of Scots is that she envied and was jealous of other women’s beauty and motherhood, naturally he doesn’t bother to prove it with evidence. He doesn’t bother to provide evidence for his claim that Elizabeth abandoned Mary Sidney either. Speaking of politics, Guy marginalizes Elizabeth and overstates Cecil’s role in government. He even goes so far to suggest that until the mid-1580s it was Cecil who ruled the country and Elizabeth was a little more than a figurehead. And frankly I detected misogynist vibes in his portrayal of Elizabeth. Overall, as one reviewer aptly put it, he portrays Elizabeth as less than she was.
Too much significance is attributed to Mary’s execution on Elizabeth’s life. But again nothing else can be expected of him given his partiality to Mary.
The problems of the 1590s are exaggerated, consequently the successes of the Elizabethan regime are downplayed.
He often contradicts himself. Thus, on the one hand, he puts a big emphasis and importance on the manuscript sources, contemporary sources and dismiss calendars of state papers which is a fair stance. On the other hand, if Elizabeth should be shown in a bad light, calendars of state papers and the 17th century sources suddenly will do well. Simon Adams reviewing his biography hagiography of Mary Queen of Scots pointed out ‘Guy’s curiously casual handling of evidence’ and I can’t help but suspect that something like that is going here as well.
Did I say he consciously leaves out things that don’t suit his agenda? This applies to his discourse of Elizabeth’s historiography in the preface. He briefly discusses a few works of older historians and authors the newest of which is John Neale’s biography of Elizabeth firstly published in the 1930s and sharply attacks Neale’s view of Elizabeth for being too positive but completely withholds the mention of existence of revisionism in Elizabeth’s historiography since the 1980s and doesn’t discuss recent historiography on her, the works of his colleagues, that he himself amply uses in this book as can be seen from his footnotes and references. But my hardback copy contains no bibliographical list of these works, only a list of primary sources. It’s cheating. The result is that Guy makes a reader to believe that he is like the only modern historian criticizing Elizabeth, that until his book no one, except for Froude, has done it and that his take of Elizabeth’s personality is the new one. Which is patently false. Likewise, it’s not true that the 1590s are the ‘forgotten’ years, there are much research done of them in last decades. He is withholding crucially important information thus manipulating his reader and I really really don’t like it.
Speaking of Guy trashing Neale. I found it funny that Guy so much snarks about Neale loving Elizabeth, while Guy himself doesn’t shy away from loving Mary Queen of Scots, writing a hagiographical account of her life that, in my opinion, supersedes in its sympathy Neale’s work on Elizabeth, and simultaneously insisting that what he writes is the true life of Mary. Double standards.
I also didn’t like Guy’s writing style and narrative tone - it’s overly snarky, cynical, even aggressive.
If you look for a balanced account of Elizabeth’s personality and her reign, this is not the right book. Notwithstanding the author’s loud claims, it doesn’t represent ‘the real’ Elizabeth, it’s not a definite biography of her and I certainly don’t recommend it as a first read about Elizabeth not least because it covers only the part - from the mid-1580s to 1603- of her long reign. But keeping in mind that one should not take Guy’s word as gospel, especially concerning feelings of historical figures, he is very good when he doesn’t allow his bias to rule him and there were parts I liked and found very informative. For example, his analysis of Elizabeth’s clothing in the audience she gave to the French envoy De Maisse. And I can’t deny that bigger work than many popular history authors manage is put into the book.

not to be a dream blogger but I just dreamed a weird scifi/action movie plot with jason momoa, lewis tan, joel kinnaman, and jackie chan in it…
none of these were the bad guys, they were all either in protag or supporting roles.
and the bad guy was a gangster who would extort money out of people by stealing their kids & essentially putting them into a prison maze setup like something you might see in a froud/henson movie meets scifi/horror like a silent hill movie meets the minotaur, where he also put grown ass ppl he wanted to torture.
kinnaman was a guard who'd had enough of that shit & was secretly involved with a planned prisoner uprising; tan was an undercover detective posing as a rival gang member hoping to get tossed in the prison maze so he could blow the whole operation wide open; jackie chan was an old long-time survivor of the maze who'd been there for decades even though he looked eccentric & unassuming & drunk; momoa was a kid jackie had secretly helped raise & train in the system who wanted to bust out for revenge (the plan being to find a guard about his size, steal the uniform, and walk out, bc no one would know him or recognize him as an adult since he got put in for his parents' gambling debts or sth at around 10 or 12 years old).
everyone's plans got complicated by overlapping with everybody else's + the fact that momoa's family was still alive & he had like a younger sibling or a neice/nephew/cousin scheduled to be thrown into the maze as soon as he managed to get in disguise & out.
#it was weirdly engaging for something with no girl characters in it!#i generally find all-dude stories boring tbh… there's exceptions but in general? yeah.#dream turkey

What would you recommend (movies, books, music? or whatever else you can think of) to someone who grew up with stories of the fey, devoured the Spiderwick Chronicles and recently was sucked into this world again by Holly Black's Cruel Prince?
That, right there, is a perfectly relevant question to my own interests, thank you!
For books: the Wicked Lovely series, the Wondrous Strange trilogy, The Iron Fey series, The Language of Thorns, Goblins of Bellwater, And Enchantment of Ravens, The Hazelwood, The Blue Girl, Coraline and Neverwhere, The Good Fairies of New York, Ballad and Lament and the Raven Boys books are all good contemporary faerie/folklore/story things. The Dresden Files too even, for more grown-up and ridiculous detective-style fiction that occasionally features the fey. Anything Brian Froud, Andrew Lang’s Fairy Books, The Grimm Brother’s works, and any Irish fairy tales are also good.
For movies: that’s definitely trickier. I will say the Spiderwick Chronicles film, even though it’s not anywhere near as good as the books it’s still at least fun, The Hallow (for the dark, fucked up kind), The Last Unicorn, Labyrinth (duh), The Secret of Roan Inish and Song of the Sea (it’s so hard to find movies about selkies), Watcher in the Woods and The Secret Garden (nothing faerie related, just has the right vibe), Coraline (because there’s something decidedly fae about the Beldam), Troll (the first one is less awful than the second and has that dark fairytale vibe), Pan’s Labyrinth, Mama, Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, Hellboy II, Trollhunter, Thale, Gremlins, Bright, Snow White: A Tale of Terror, The Company of Wolves, Legend, Valerie and Her Week of Wonders and Panna at Netvor (both are Czech fairytales from the 70s), Nightbreed (which is more demonic-looking monsters, but these antiheros are far more sympathetic than the humans involved), and City of Lost Children (no faeries here, but the child protagonist reminds me of a Holly Black character in a way).
For music: Emilie Autumn’s “Enchant” era, Inkubus Sukkubus, Aurora, Florence + the Machine, Halsey’s “Castle,” Fleetwood Mac/Stevie Nicks, Ego Likeness, Chelsea Wolfe and a good handful of Siouxsie and the Banshees. I noticed with a lot of Holly’s stuff in particular there’s a certain punk aesthetic principle, so I’d throw in Blondie, The Ramones, Rancid, Joan Jett and The Velvet Underground. (Kaye was my favorite character throughout my teen years, and that’s kind of what I figured she’d listen to a bit.)

Although, also canonically, reproduction restrictions are ignored. Per Brian Froud’s The Goblins of the Labyrinth: “Needless to say, reproduction amongst goblins carries on unabated in the time-honoured tradition”. Apparently there is a smell that can be detected very very far away, and the inspectors have some kind of equipment. The odor appears to encourage additional people to participate in such activities, and when the inspectors don their equipment, they get all the odor from all over. It says “they become, to put it plainly, sex-mad maniacs, and are forced to turn themselves in for Contemplated Reproduction.” (It appears it is still on the books because removing it is blocked by the anti-odor industry.)
so reproduction and death are both outlawed in the labyrinth, meaning that without taking specimens from earth, the population would remain at a constantbut i just wanna think about the implications of that for a second, yknow? i like to imagine that there are folk in the labyrinth who have been neighbors for like, hundreds and hundreds of years. imagine centuries-long marriages. centuries-long rivalries. centuries of competition or enduring romance or friendship, or centuries of seeing someone walk by and thinking “oh not this fucking guy again.”
i also like the idea that sometimes goblins (and other species in the labyrinth, for that matter) will make craft projects that are basically makeshift children. and maybe they go to jareth asking him to enchant them so they can come alive and their makers can have the children of their dreams, and jareth begrudgingly does it
come to think of it i also really like the headcanon that jareth brings the labyrinth’s species together when he acquires a child and they basically turn into whichever species they gravitate towards. i love the idea also (building on this) that the different species therefore compete for the child’s favor and it gets intense sometimes
also i’m curious as to what exactly is counted as reproduction—do asexual means count, like mitosis or budding? could one potentially get in trouble for creating a homunculus or something, like via scientific means?

Oscars, Solar Orbiter & Mythic Quest
Happy Valentine’s Day everyone, we hope at the least you had a good evening snuggling up with your favourite movie.
Starting off this week, DJ tells us about the results of the latest Celebrity Worship Awards. Who won? Which actor is deserving of our endless praise? Buck and Professor are sceptical, but DJ jumps right in to tell us all about the Oscars.
Buck wants to leave the planet to escape the Oscars, so he’s been looking into the newest Solar Orbiter. This probe will be looking at the Sun’s poles. Maybe the weather is better away from the equator?
Professor has been binge watching Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet, the new television show from Ubisoft, Apple TV, and the team behind It’s Always Sunny. Professor might be geeking out a little about having the burdens and struggles of being a game developer shown on TV.
The Nerds talk about their games of the week, then finally we have the Shout outs, Remembrances, Birthdays and Events of Interest. This week we’re recommending Epigraphy, a poetry podcast Buck hopes to take a shot at. Check back soon to find out if he can poet as well as he can podcast.

10 Febuary 2020 – Apple fined 0.002 per cent of its worth - https://www.news.com.au/technology/gadgets/mobile-phones/apple-fined-0002-per-cent-of-its-worth-for-slowing-down-everyones-phone-without-telling-them/news-story/3d799b2cc0ba7848455db0e38a5c90b3
France’s Directorate General of Competition, Consumption and Repression of Fraud (DGCCRF) found the lack of transparency displayed by Apple in the past breached its guidelines. The company was fined €25 million ($A41 million). Apple also “committed the crime of deceptive commercial practice by omission”. The consumer electronics giant is worth almost two trillion dollars, so the $41 million fine is unlikely to be felt too heavily. The fine is around 0.002 per cent of the company’s worth. If you were given a similar fine, it would only cost you about $20.

Events of Interest
10 February 1940 – Puss gets the boot : The first Tom and Jerry Cartoon .- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puss_Gets_the_Boot
It was directed by William Hanna,Joseph Barbera and Rudolf Ising, and produced by Rudolf Ising and Fred Quimby. As was the practice of MGM shorts at the time, only Rudolf Ising is credited. The short, Puss Gets the Boot, featured a cat named Jasper and an unnamed mouse, named Jinx in pre-production, and an African American housemaid named Mammy Two Shoes. Leonard Maltin described it as "very new and special [...] that was to change the course of MGM cartoon production" and established the successful Tom and Jerry formula of comical cat and mouse chases with slapstick gags. Matters changed, however, when Texas businesswoman Bessa Short sent a letter to MGM asking whether more cat and mouse shorts would be produced, which helped convince management to commission a series. A studio contest held to rename both characters was won by animator John Carr, who suggested Tom the cat and Jerry the mouse after the Christmas time drink. Carr was awarded a first-place prize of $50.
10 February 1957 – Attack Of The Crab Monsters clawed its way to theatres. - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attack_of_the_Crab_Monsters
On this day in 1957, Attack Of The Crab Monsters made audiences afraid to go back into the water. The feature starred Richard Garland and Pamela Duncan, and here's the plot summary: "Scientists become trapped on a shrinking island with intelligent, murderous giant crabs.” Attack of the Crab Monsters was Corman's most profitable production up to that time, which he attributed to the "wildness of the title," the construction of the storyline, the structuring of every scene for horror and suspense, and editing for pace. Corman has stated that the success of the film convinced him that horror and humor was an effective combination.
10 February 1972 – Ziggy Stardust makes his earthly debut - https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/ziggy-stardust-makes-his-earthly-debut
The concert at London’s Toby Jug pub a relatively minor rocker named David Bowie became the spaceman Ziggy Stardust. “I’m going to be huge,” is what David Bowie told Melody Maker less than three weeks earlier and still six months prior to the release of the albumThe Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. “And it’s quite frightening in a way, because I know that when I reach my peak and it’s time for me to be brought down it will be with a bump.” That last bit may have been a case of Bowie confusing his Ziggy persona with real life, but that was what put the act over in the first place. Any rock musician can put on a costume, but how many could have inhabited the identity of an androgynous Martian rock star come to Earth in its dying days so convincingly, so effortlessly.
10 February 1996 – World Chess Champion Garry Kasparov loses game to computer. - https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/kasparov-loses-chess-game-to-computer
After three hours, world chess champion Garry Kasparov loses the first game of a six-game match against Deep Blue, an IBM computer capable of evaluating 200 million moves per second. Man was ultimately victorious over machine, however, as Kasparov bested Deep Blue in the match with three wins and two ties and took home the $400,000 prize. An estimated 6 million people worldwide followed the action on the Internet. The February 1996 contest was significant in that it represented the first time a human and a computer had duked it out in a regulation, six-game match, in which each player had two hours to make 40 moves, two hours to finish the next 20 moves and then another 60 minutes to wrap up the game.
