Arrivals & Departures 12 February 1934 – 31 July 2022 William Felton Russell
William Felton Russell was an American professional basketball player who played as a center for the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association (NBA) from 1956 to 1969. A five-time NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) and a 12-time NBA All-Star, he was the centerpiece of the Celtics dynasty that won 11 NBA championships during his 13-year career. Russell and Henri Richard of the National Hockey League are tied for the record of the most championships won by an athlete in a North American sports league.
Russell is widely considered to be one of the greatest basketball players of all time. He led the San Francisco Dons to two consecutive NCAA championships in 1955 and 1956, and he captained the gold-medal winning U.S. national basketball team at the 1956 Summer Olympics.
Despite his limitations on offense, as Russell never averaged more than 19.0 points per game in any season, some regard him as one of the greatest basketball players of all time for his dominating defensive play. Standing at 6 ft 10 in (2.08 m) tall, with a 7 ft 4 in (2.24 m) arm span, his shot-blocking and man-to-man defense were major reasons for the Celtics' dominance during his career.
Russell was equally notable for his rebounding abilities, and he led the NBA in rebounds four times, had a dozen consecutive seasons of 1,000 or more rebounds, and remains second all time in both total rebounds and rebounds per game. He is one of just two NBA players (the other being prominent rival Wilt Chamberlain) to have grabbed more than 50 rebounds in a game.
Russell played in the wake of black pioneers Earl Lloyd, Chuck Cooper, and Sweetwater Clifton, and he was the first black player to achieve superstar status in the NBA. He also served a three-season (1966–69) stint as player-coach for the Celtics, becoming the first black coach in the NBA and the first to win a championship.
In 2011, Barack Obama awarded Russell the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his accomplishments on the court and in the civil rights movement.
Russell was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1975, was one of the founding inductees into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006, and was enshrined in the FIBA Hall of Fame in 2007. He was selected into the NBA 25th Anniversary Team in 1971 and the NBA 35th Anniversary Team in 1980, named as one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History in 1996, one of only four players to receive all three honors, and selected into the NBA 75th Anniversary Team in 2021. In 2009, the NBA renamed the NBA Finals MVP Award in his honor. In 2021, he was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame a second time for his coaching career

1,500 Followers Challenge!
The Title/Trope Challenge!
Again, thank you all for all your support!  You are all amazing and I truly cannot thank you enough for helping me get this far.  It’s certainly a milestone that I never thought I’d see.
Straight to the challenge!
Basic rules apply ~ there are 30 songs and 30 quotes posted below, pick one from your fandom with your character.  This will be open for a while as 2 requests per song/quote.  The only rule is here is, is that the requests cannot be from the same fandom.  I will try and keep the lists as updated as I can to try and avoid cross overs!
The extra - This time around, send me either a title and/or a trope to base to the fic on.  They can be as weird and wonderful as you want, or something simple.  In your ask, just specify which you are sending me and I’ll do the rest from there!
Recap:
Send me an ask with your request
Include your fandom and character
Choose a song and quote
Give me a title and/or a trope to base the fic on!
In saying that, please remember that this is all just a bit of fun, I’m sure you can have a laugh at some of the quotes below (based off of some of my favourite movies).  Please send all requests through asks, it’s easier for me to keep track of, and let me know of any questions!  It is, of course, okay to request more than once!
For now, there is no closing date, we will just keep going until all the requests are full!  Requests will be closing 1st May.
Further info below the cut.

(NOT) A Onetime Thing

Chapter One: A Onetime Thing
Word Count: 4,892
Summary: Betty Cooper HATES Jughead Jones. Jughead Jones HATES Betty Cooper. After what was supposed to be a onetime thing… they discover that they can't seem to stay away from each other. The most important rule is no developing feelings.
A/N:  Follow along with my music inspiration. I'll post one song which helped me to write each chapter. Chapter One: There's No Way- Lauv ft. Julia Michaels
---
The last weekend of summer was a hot one. The air conditioning was blasting in Archie's house, but Betty was still sweating in her blouse. It didn't help that Chuck, her boyfriend of the last year, had his arms wrapped around her and was kissing down her neck. He had pulled her onto his lap a few minutes before and she could feel the heat pulsating from his body.
"Babe, let go a minute." Betty said, pulling away.
Chuck whined a little, but pulled back long enough for Betty to pull her shirt over her head and toss it over the back of the couch. Veronica, who was in a similar position on Reggie's lap in the armchair, whistled at her. Betty stuck up her middle finger, but giggled as Chuck pulled her back into his body.
"Is this a sneak peek?" Chuck growled into her ear. "Or are we getting started out here in front of everyone?"
"Shut up, Chuck." Betty slapped him lightly on the shoulder, pulling away again. "I need some fucking water."
She grabbed her blouse as she walked, suddenly feeling self-conscious. Betty passed the dining table on her way to the kitchen, ignoring the teasing from the gang of Southsiders who sat there drinking stale beer out of their red solo cups. Jughead Jones was among them, watching her pass with his ever permanent scowl etched on his forehead.
He seemed to always have a glare anytime she was unfortunate enough to make eye contact. It hadn't always been that way. He used to smile across the classroom at her in elementary school, before he'd moved to the Southside. Now they only exchanged hateful looks in each other's directions when they were at the same party.
Betty had only  just entered the kitchen when Chuck grabbed her arm. She yelped at force of it, but didn't pull away. She knew if she tried, he would only hold on tighter. Chuck pushed her back against the counter, his other hand coming up to rest on her shoulder, just to remind her that he was in control.
"You like embarrassing me like that?" He seethed. "God, I didn't even want to come to this stupid fucking high school party. You do know there are much better parties on campus, right?"
"You are here because I'm your girlfriend and newsflash, I'm still in high school." Betty tried shifting out of his grip, but Chuck squeezed her shoulder and she flinched back. "The point is, Archie has this party every year, and it's my senior year and I want to have fun."
"If you wanted to have fun, then why are you being such a prude?"
"Me!?" Betty was suddenly furious. "What about last week? When I wanted to come over and I sent you the pictures?"
"You can't even say the word, nude, Betty." He spoke to her as if she were a child.
"Don't avoid the question."
"It was the middle of the day and my grandma was staying over." He offered.
"Are you serious? You were just trying to get into my pants in front of all my friends and classmates, and your excuse is your grandma?" Betty had finally had enough and pushed him as hard as she could. "You are un-fucking-believable!"
Chuck lunged at her again, but stopped when he saw Reggie and Veronica turn the corner into the kitchen. He leaned in close to her ear. "This isn't over."
"Yes, it is. Why don't you just go back to college where everything is better? I bet you can find some cookie-cutter sorority girl to fuck you."
"Yeah, maybe I will."
Betty shoved him one final time and stormed out of the kitchen. She could already feel the tears welling up in her eyes. She waved off Veronica as she started to follow and ran up the staircase that was almost as familiar as the one in her own home. It wasn't the first time she'd cried over a boy in Archie's guest bathroom, and it certainly wouldn't be the last.

My Halloween Playlists
Since 2016 I've made an annual Halloween playlist and posted them online. Since there’s only a week until Halloween I guessed now was as good a time as any to share them with you. I wanted to just embed them but I couldn’t figure out how to do that. If someone tells me how to embed MixCloud to Tumblr I'll go back and do that.

Songfic Day 6: She-Wolf (Remix)
Tumblr media
Day 6: A song that makes you want to dance: She-Wolf (Remix) - Shakira ft T-Pain
Betty Cooper is one of only a handful of unmated omega werewolves in Riverdale, where there is an abundance of unmated alphas. When she reluctantly goes to a party at the Pembrooke with Veronica and a fight amongst a few of the Northside alphas breaks out over claiming her, she meets the alpha running the Southside who saves her and helps her escape the chaos.
What does she do when he takes her back to a bar full of Southside werewolves and finds herself becoming more and more attracted to her mysterious saviour? What if she wants him to claim her just as much as he wants her?
*****
“Ronnie, I don’t know if this is a good idea. You know I’m close to my mating cycle and those dudebro alphas, that Archie undoubtedly invited, are gonna smell me a mile away. I'm not trying to start a riot in the middle of the Pembrooke.” Betty bit her lip nervously while she looked at the skimpy dress Veronica picked for her, knowing she probably wasn’t getting out of this anytime soon.
“I know you're worried Bettykins, but just stick close to me and you’ll be fine. My pheromones are strong enough to mask yours. None of those jerks will get near you, I promise.” Veronica tried her best to use her abilities as an alpha to calm Betty, but it never worked on her. They had been best friends since they were in diapers so they were immune to each other's scent at this point.
“Ok fine V, I’ll go. But I swear if you leave me to go canoodle with Archie again, I’m leaving!” Betty raised her hand, her pinky lifted for Veronica to take. She latched on and smiled.
“Deal”
*****
Betty and Veronica had been dancing together for a few hours when they decided to take a break for drinks and to freshen up. Betty looked around to make sure the coast was clear before she wandered towards Veronica's private bathroom on the second floor.
It was more quiet upstairs, the sounds of the party merely a faint thumping when she realized she wasn't alone. She spun around to see none other than Reggie Mantle blocking her path. She looked behind her and past him to see if she could alert Veronica or make it a run for it but she only saw a dark hall leading to the guest bedrooms and the stairs.
“Hey there, mini Coop. I have been trying to get my hands on you all night,” He licked his lips menacingly and she could see his fangs already protruding. She stepped back, hoping to make it to one of the rooms and lock the door before he reached her when a growl from behind Reggie stopped them both.
There, standing in the hall behind Reggie, was Chuck Clayton with his teeth bared and snarling. “Down boy, I already called dibs on this one.” Reggie just laughed and stood taller, posturing.
“Don’t think so Chucky, Cooper here is all mine so you better beat it before I have to show you who the stronger alpha is.” Reggie and Chuck sized each other for a moment and then, without warning, they howled and the fists started flying. Betty wanted to retch at the display in front of her, the overpowering smell of their mixed pheromones making her sick to her stomach.
Betty didn’t want to be claimed by either of them, she was her own person for God’s sake not some prize to be taken at will. She was lost in her thoughts when she registered another scent: the sweet smell of mint mixed with coffee and cigarettes.
She jumped as she felt a hand clamp down on her mouth and crush her to their chest. She felt herself being pulled into a bedroom but she couldn't fight back, the smell of the mysterious stranger so intoxicating that it made her dizzy.
Once the bedroom door was shut and locked she was spun around to come face to face with a pair piercing blue eyes. He motioned for her to keep quiet as he whispered, “Don’t be afraid. I could smell your fear all the way down the hall, I promise I won’t hurt you. Let me get you outta here to somewhere safe, those two will be duking it out another few minutes at least and I know another way out."
Betty could see that he was sincere and simply nodded, following him through a set of french door leading to a balcony. She wasn’t sure how he thought they would be able to get down but she knew she needed to trust him if she was gonna get out of this unmated.
The mysterious stranger leapt over the bannister, gracefully landing on the grass below before he motioned for her to jump down. She took a deep breath and screwed her eyes shut before jumping over the bannister as well, his arms catching her effortlessly. She opened her eyes and her breath caught in her throat. Her lips were mere inches away from his, so close in fact that she could feel his breath against her own lips, her heart racing at the proximity.
“Come on Princess, your chariot awaits.” He winked, setting her on her feet and pulling her by the hand to where his motorcycle was parked. She gulped when she saw how sinful he looked on his bike with his leather jacket and dark curls falling into his eyes. She nibbled on her bottom lip while he helped her with his helmet then shakily swung her leg over to position herself behind him on the bike.
Betty knew it was considered rude to smell another wolf without permission but she couldn’t help herself. She had never smelled anyone who came close to smelling the way he did and it was intoxicating. She pressed her nose into his neck gland again and inhaled another deep breath, blushing when she felt him chuckle, his laugh reverberating in his chest.
“Hold on tight baby.”
*****
“So, where are we exactly?” Betty asked nervously, looking around at what was clearly a Southside den full of rough looking wolves.
“This is my domain, Princess. Jughead Jones: Serpent King and Southside’s resident alpha, at your service.” Jughead bowed to kiss her hand, flipping it over to rub his nose against her wrist gland and sniffing. Betty blushed again at the intimate gesture but didn’t pull away. She didn’t want to pull away, something about him excited and intrigued her and she wanted to know more about him. She wanted to know everything about him.
“I-I’m Betty. Betty Cooper: plain old nothing omega at your service.” She cringed when she realized the double entendre but he just laughed again, his thumb tracing circles on her wrist as he still held her close to him.
“Trust me Betty, there is nothing plain or old about you. You are magnificent and if anyone will be a servant in this situation, it’s me.” Betty shuttered at the lustful tone of his voice and the look of his blown out pupils. She had never really thought about being mated until right now, standing in front of this man whom she’d just met.
“Let’s test that theory, shall we? Come dance with me.” She whispered in his ear, winking at him before leading him to the dance floor.

Humbug
Tumblr media
“Mr. Humbug - Phantom Tollbooth Concept Art” © Anthony Sixto, accessed at his ArtStation page here
[Commissioned by @menaceomysterio. The character notes on the above art refer to the Humbug’s personality in the Phantom Tollbooth movie directed by Chuck Jones--affable, befuddled and easily led. He’s also decidedly cutesy, fitting for a late-period Chuck Jones project. This is compared to the book, where he’s blustering, combative and peevish, but still overall good-hearted. No wonder Norton Juster hated the movie.]
Humbug  CR ½ N Medium Monstrous Humanoid Standing here is a beetle the size of a man, wearing fine clothes and clutching a cane. Their mandibles have bristles along them, giving them a mustached appearance.
Humbugs are brash, garrulous dwellers of underground caverns. Humbugs are naturally social creatures, living in small settlements in the dark parts of the earth. They are cooperative among each other to defend themselves against the various horrors of the subterranean realms. When they are able, many humbugs will travel to surface realms in search of strangers to converse and argue with. Humbugs usually have outgoing and forceful personalities, barging into other peoples’ lives with nary a concern. They are argumentative for the sake of argument, sometimes supporting both sides simultaneously to keep the discussion going. This good-natured belligerence can get humbugs into trouble, but someone willing to put the effort in to befriend a humbug will find them a staunch ally.
Humbugs are hexapods, walking on four legs and using two arms for manipulating objects. Their gait is somewhat slow, but stable. Their ancestors may once have been flighted, but they are too heavy and their wings too small. Their wing cases, however, are still flexible and can be used by a humbug to intercept blows and defend themselves. Most humbugs have a sense of vanity and decorate themselves with jewelry or fine clothes. Humbugs tend towards neutral alignments, as their tendency to see and support multiple viewpoints keeps them from becoming too extreme in outlook.
Humbugs are equivalent in height to humans, but their broader frames mean that they weigh more than a human of their height.
Humbugs as Player Characters A humbug does not have racial Hit Dice and advances by character class. Quadrupedal A humbug gains a +4 to its CMD on trip attempts, and its carrying capacity is calculated as if it were a quadruped. Conversely, armor must be built to fit it specifically Blustering A humbug gains a +2 racial bonus on all Bluff and Intimidate checks. Elytra A humbug wearing light or no armor gains a +2 shield bonus to its AC by using its wing covers. This does not occupy a hand, but does not stack with carried shields. Pieces of Me (Part 1)
Summary: You are Y/N McCormick, the Northside Queen with a knack for defending yourself. Ultimately, too many warnings lead to being expelled from Riverdale High School and you transfer to Southside High where you’re immersed in a completely different life. Slowly, you become closer to Sweet Pea, along with the rest of the Southside Serpents while discovering the missing pieces of yourself.
Paring: Sweet Pea x Reader (ft. Riverdale Core Four, Toni) Warning: Expulsion, Some language Word Count: 1.7k+
A/N: Your last name is McCormick for reasons which will be explained later. Also, this is a slow burn miniseries. :))
Every high school has a Princess, Prince, Queen, and King. It practically goes without saying and at Riverdale High School, the following roles went to Cheryl Blossom as Princess, Reggie Mantle as the Prince, and Archie Andrews as the King. The Queen? That slot belonged to you and for a good reason too. However, you never quite accepted the role, but merely just went along with the ideologies that everyone had implanted in their heads.
You weren't the clique spoiled, mean rich girl, though that never stopped some people from seeing you as such. You were kind and generous and caring, but you had no problem whatsoever defending yourself if ever came such a time. Despite your 'royalty' status, you still had your daily issues of dealing with hormonal boys and devious girls but then again, who on this planet, never experienced such things in High School? After all, such institute had a reputation for destroying dreams, not to mention self-esteem and also could create some of the cruelest teenagers to ever walk this planet.
Among those hormonal boys, often times, was Chuck Clayton. Usually, it would be harmless flirting and the occasional batting of eyelashes. However, sometimes the boy would come on too strong, and each time you tried to kind rebuff his attempts, he would push back until it wasn't entirely friendly anymore. Currently, you were seated at a large desk from a stern-faced Principal Weatherbee. You were an often visitor, and generally, it was the same issue every single time, yet no effort to make a change ever took place.
"This is the sixth time you've been sent to my office for assaulting a fellow student in three weeks, Ms. McCormick!"
"Well, maybe you ought to teach those fellow students what 'no' means and we wouldn't even be here."
Weatherbee looked over a sheet of paper citing each incident as seen by other faculty members and teachers. You rolled your eyes at the thought, they never saw nor heard the full story, and it was never surprising when your side of the said story would fall on deaf ears.
"Student was seen punching another student in the face, seemingly unprovoked. Student twisted another student's arm behind his back until he cried out in pain. And then there's another report about the defamation of a teacher here at Riverdale. The list goes on Y/N, and I don't quite know what I'm supposed to do with you because obviously detention doesn't work and it's incredibly baffling given the major role that you place in this school."
"What to do with me? You have got to be kidding. First of all, I punched that kid because, after multiple attempts at telling to buzz off as kindly as I possibly could but yet, he refused. As for poor little Chuck, his arm will be fine just in time for the precious football season that you're so worried about. Maybe while he's getting a little pep talk from the coach, you can also squeeze in what 'consent' means. Also known as 'did this person say it was okay to touch them here or there?' if the answer is 'no' generally, I would assume that means back away. As for the teacher, she was a child predator, so no, I didn't 'defame' her, she did that all by herself."
"And Mr. Clayton will be punished accordingly but case in point, Ms. McCormick I cannot ignore that you used physical force on another student. You have been issued one too many warnings. I'm sorry, but I have to expel you, effective immediately." You couldn't believe what you were hearing, he actually dared to expel you but not the boys who broke the rules just as much, even though you were defending yourself.
"This total bullcrap and you know it. But I guess I'm not all that surprised, jocks get away with things more often than not. Don't worry Principal Weatherbee, I'm almost positive you won't be receiving an irate call and possibly a lawsuit from my father sometime in the future." Your response was snarky and perhaps rude but rightfully placed as you kicked back in the seat and stormed out of the Principal's office.
About half an hour later, the bell rang, and the hallways were flooded with students trying to make it to their next class in time. You, however, were clearing out your locker of your belongings and tossing unneeded papers in the trash when your odd group of friends came up to you with perplexed expressions on their faces.
"What are you doing?" Jughead Jones spoke first, leaning against the locker beside yours as he tugged against the strap of his tote bag. His girlfriend, the sweet girl-next-door Betty Cooper, appeared next to him and tucked herself underneath his arms while wrapping her around his torso.
"Haven't you heard? I've been expelled. Apparently, I'm more trouble than I'm worth, so Principal Wetherbee kicked me out." you scoff and roll your eyes as you carelessly toss a stack of notes in the trash.
"What?! He can't do that!" Your eyes land on the King of the school, Archie Andrews in all of his glory as he stood next to his girlfriend, Veronica Lodge, hand in hand.
"He can, actually, he's the Principal, and I had enough reports and complaints against me." You saw all of your friends visibly sulk, and as much as you wanted to cry, you kept up the facade that you weren't all that bothered.
"Where are you going to go?" Betty asked, reaching into your locking and helping you throw away a couple of papers. You nonchalantly shrug your shoulders because honestly, you weren't entirely sure and as of right now, you were having the hardest time getting a hold of your father, seeing as he was away on some urgent business trip that had him on the road nearly eight months out of the year.
"Well, I don't really plan on leaving Riverdale, and there's no way that my dad would go for me dropping out of school completely. So it'll either be Southside or Seaside, which is two hours away from here."
"Jesus, you can't go to Southside! They'll eat you alive just because you're from Northside."
"Well, on the bright side, I happen to be a great meal. Besides, you all know I'm than capable of protecting myself so come what may."
"There's no way your dad would let you go there."
"Well, when you get a hold of him, let me know. As far as I'm concerned, his business deals are more important." You slam your locker so loudly, a few heads turn and among them was the one and only Chuck Clayton. 'What a jackass.' You think to yourself as you give him a stink-eye. The sound of a warning bless ringed through your ears as you gave each of your friends a small smile.
"You guys should probably go, don't want to be late for class." As hard are you tried to hide it, you were actually very upset that you were being expelled, especially over something that wasn't even your fault. On another note, perhaps transferring to Southside would be good, it would offer you an insider look at the so-called trashy school. And you were always someone who enjoyed investigating and reporting things. It was one of the reasons that you, Jughead, and Betty got along so well. It was no secret that you were going to miss hanging out with them in class and joking around before the bell rang.
"Be reasonable, daddy! There's no way I'm driving two hours every day just to go to school!" You were currently sitting in your living room in front of the fireplace as you had a yelling contest with your father over the phone. The man had finally decided to answer your numerous phone calls.
"I am reasonable, I don't want you going to that school!"
"It's a school! That's it, besides you know very well I don't plan on leaving Riverdale so whatever plans you were creating, you can stop. My life is here, daddy and I love it, I don't want to leave." Your father sighed deeply, and you could practically see him leaning over his desk while pinching the bridge of his nose. He was a stressful man, but rightfully so, as an ex-Marine Special Ops turned deadly lawyer, the man was hardwired to be stressed.
"It's a dangerous place, Y/N and if it's anything like it was when I went, there is no way I'm letting set a foot there."
"That's the thing, I doubt it could have gotten worse since you've gone. It's been what? Twenty years? I still want to be able to see my friends and go to Pop's after school, but there's no way I would be able to do that if I'm driving four hours a day just to get to and from."
"I'm guessing with you, I know that you're gonna have it your way or nothing at all."
"Well, I did learn from the best."
"Fine. I'll sign the transfer papers and fax them to the school, but you listen to me, I want you to call every day, and I don't care if I don't answer, leave me a voicemail and tell me about your day."
"Scouts honor, dad."
Hanging up on your dad, you make your way upstairs to your bedroom and into your closet where you had a secret compartment located in the baseboard of the wall. There, you had a collection of items which you had begun gathering at the beginning of the summer. News articles and photographs and little knick picks which all had one thing in common, the Southside.
It was probably strange, but you were sort of fascinated by the Southside of Riverdale, but your father never allowed you to cross into their territory. It wasn't that he had anything against the Southside like most parents in Riverdale did, it was more that he made a promise to someone decades ago and refuse to break it. You didn't know much about said promise but what you did know, was that sooner or later, you were going to learn precisely what ties you dad had with the Southside and attending Southside High was probably the best opportunity you had gotten in a while, even if no one else saw it that way.

Chuck Cooper (fc; Paul Rudd)
Tumblr media
Christian Cooper's dad & Cameron and Callie Cooper's uncle! It would make more sense if he were Cameron’s dad ya’know personality wise lmao. He's a shifter and business studies teacher @Havensdale High.
Literally legendary back in his day for being The Party. You weren't living until you'd done body shots off the back of Chuck Cooper's car. Any parents from Havens would know him for this TBH. The Ricky Beaumont of his time.
Could not be more laidback! Wouldn't ever have a clean t-shirt if it weren't for his wife reminding him he'd worn that one for like, 100 days in a row. Would probably be dead without his wife from lack of remembering to eat, sleep, keep his head on his shoulders.
A cool teacher. A relatable mess who eats instant noodles in class and occasionally takes a nap. Fun lessons though, moves the furniture around his classroom a lot. Much cooler than Cooper.
Lowkey riot. Very lovable. Misses his wife tonight but has chaperoned every prom since starting his job @Havens High.
His wife is Mrs Claire Cooper - owner of the town's bakery "Claire's Cakes"!
Thinks Mr MacDonald looks real life gorgeous tonight. Probably watches Outlander.
Here 2 have fun and hopes Cooper might have at least snuck in a flask of alcopop.

FRIENDS DON’T LIE — SWEET PEA ft. ARCHIE!
o. the summary: in which being with sweet pea was something you were determined to keep a secret. but when toni blabs to her new girlfriend, things take a tremendous downfall with archie andrews! — warnings include: angst cursing sadness.
You weren’t ashamed of Sweet Pea. You were proud of him in every aspect of the word. Hiding your relationship came down to the simple fact that being a Northsider came with an unspoken title. Mixing with the Southside was just something that wasn’t accepted ( with a small exception for Jughead Jones ) at Riverdale High. Even Betty Cooper had a mean run in and you and Sweet Pea both knew being with him would bring a hurricane of Reggie and Chuck down onto you. He didn’t want to worry every second of the day that they had done something to you— and you just couldn’t handle their torment without breaking.
But when the Southside closed and your boyfriend was now attending the same school as you, the topic of going public was an idea hanging over the top of your head. Sweet Pea hated seeing all the Ghoulies hit on you and the football players try and swoon you over with an invite to Pop’s for a milkshake. He wanted to show everyone you were his girl and you couldn’t blame him. You wanted to show everyone he was your boy.
The thing that was stopping you was your tight knit friendship with Archie Andrews. You knew his grudge on Sweet Pea would make you have an ultimatum of choosing your boyfriend or bestfriend— and you weren’t sure you ready for that choice.
Sweet Pea was becoming impatient, and Reggie Mantle wasn’t helping the situation out at all. It was like he knew something everyone else didn’t and it worried he might bring something up to Archie in spite of the Serpents. However you had figured it was just Reggie being his usual asshole self.
You didn’t think Toni would start dating Cheryl. Although you knew Cheryl really didn’t care about the whole Serpent vs. Bulldog thing. She seemed like she really loved and help an appreciation to Toni. The only thing you didn’t want to happen was for Toni to think it was safe to tell Cheryl about you and Sweet Pea— because no matter how good Cheryl could seem, every light has a switch to turn to darkness. And hers was easy access on her neck like a necklace.
The night air was cool as you and Sweet Pea stood in front of your house. A smile painting your face as his warm hands slid around your waist and held you closer to him. “I wish it could be like this all the time.” You heard him mutter in your pulled up hair.
Frowning you pulled away. “Like what?”
“Like you love me.” Sweet Pea answered. “I feel like you’re ashamed to be with me Y/N. Cheryl doesn’t care if people know she’s with Toni. She parades her around like a doll. Why can’t you just suck it up and tell people about me. About what we have?” Sweet Pea asked.
“Nobody liked Cheryl to begin with.” You threw your hands up in the air. Sweet Pea rolled his eyes and crossed his arms. “It’s not that I don’t love you because you know I do.”
“Do I?” Sweet Pea scoffed. “Because it seems you’re too worried about that Andrews boy than to be fully committed to me Y/N.”
You opened your mouth to answer him, but before you could a head of firey red hair crossed your vision. Your head snapped to the side to see a pissed off Archie stomping towards you and Sweet Pea with a cellphone in his hand. “So Cheryl’s telling the truth?” Archie spat at you, ignoring Sweet Pea for the time being. “You’re with this… this scum? After what he did to me and Reggie? After his friends stabbed Dilton in the freaking leg!”
“Watch your mouth Andrews.” Sweet Pea interjected as he watched your face fall.
“Or what?” Archie pushed his shoulders back. “You’re gonna hit me? Or call your Southside friends to come because you fight me one on one.” He quirked an eyebrow. You could see Sweet Pea was trying to hold himself for your sake— but Archie was far from slowing down. Sucking in a deep breath you touched Archie’s shoulder to bring him back to reality. But he only snapped his head towards you and pushed his hand off of you.
“You deserve better than this Y/N!” Archie pleaded. A weight was being placed on your heart as tears started to sting the corner of his eyes. “I’ve known you all my life and this… this isn’t you! You’ve been secretive. You’ve been lying to me and the group. He’s turning you into his Serpent Slut Y/N and you’re letting him. I thought I meant more to you!”
Your heart sank as he called you names. Deep down you knew he was just looking out for you but it hurt to know he thought such low things of your relationship and your character. Sweet Pea glanced over and saw your bottom lip tremble— sending him over the edge as he stepped in between you and Archie. “Watch your mouth around my girl Andrews. I won’t tell you again.” He threatened, his fist balling up at his sides.
Archie didn’t seem bothered as he continued. “Reggie tried telling me something was up with you. He said he saw you and Sweet Pea sneak into the janitors closet last week.” A humorous laugh escaped his lips as he gazed around Sweet Pea’s tall figure to look at you. “But unlike you Y/N, friends don’t lie.”
Deciding to suck up your tears, your hand took Sweet Pea’s fist in your own. Archie watched as you stood beside him. You made eye contact with everything else but his eyed as you stood your ground. “Go away Archie. Tell Betty and Veronica I don’t want to be friends anymore. And if you couldn’t get the memo I don’t want to be friends with you either. I was so worried about hurting you that I hurt the one person who truly loved me. But you couldn’t even give me the time to explain. Friends don’t treat eachother like shit Archie… I thought you learned that when you fucked Betty over for the third time.”
And with that Archie said speechless as you took Sweet Pea and tugged him up the steps to your house. You didn’t bother looking back as you opened the door and tugged your boyfriend in with you. “Friends don’t lie.” You murmured and fell into Sweet Pea’s embrace. Tears trickling down your face as he cooed.
“You’re too strong for this world, baby.” Sweet Pea smiled and kissed the top of your head. “If he’s really your friend he’ll come around. Just give him some time Y/N.”
“I don’t think that’s happening.”
