EVERLARK: THE CLASSICS #2
For the Crown by Court81981
Published: 2013
Chapters: 18 | On going
I'll be bold to say one of Court's many masterpieces such as FTC is an Everlark classic albeit it's on going status. Hell, we should all be thankful it's still being updated, as many early everlark authors are either published authors (like HGR) or inactive in the fandom.
FTC touches the plot points of Keira Cass' The Selection series with its own everlark twist. This fic, first and foremost, is such an entertaining read particularly the banter between the girls and the way the characters fit their roles so well (honorable mention Haymitch's and Delly's!). Peeta's royal essence is edged with his confidence and determined mindset towards everything. Our boy knows what he wants, which doubles his charisma. Katniss, on the other hand, explores the depths of her regards towards the soon-to-be king and with the system itself.
Much like Crash My Party, A Favorable Wind, Windfall, etc., Court's detailed writing captures the characters so well I can actually feel Peeta's charisma and resonate with Katniss' cluelessness and curiosity. The pacing makes me eager, Plus, the growing suspense in the later chapters escalates the eagerness of devouring this fic. We all can't wait for the next chapters!

Hi! Thanks for keeping us up-to-date on Court and her fics. I don't think Windfall has been mentioned lately, do you know if she hopes to finish that one too? I just reread it and am dying to know what happens with Glimmer (don't want to spoil it, but specifically about the big thing she claimed). Hope all is well with you both! <3
From Court:
“That fic actually only has 3-4 more chapters and an epilogue—which of course is written. It’s just other stories have been flowing better. I’ve been trying to get ahead in a few so I can post more regularly in the coming months. I’d say I’ve got 3 One by One chapters banked, 2 for FtC and one for SMU. And CMP’s last chapter and epilogue are done. It’s only this current chapter that’s giving me fits. 😂”

My heart stops whenever I see a white rimmed square moodboard with writing in the middle because you trained me to think about For The Cameras so whenever I see that I just immediately think you updated. And yesssss last night you did😍 the way I ran to ao3 🏃‍♀️💨 Speaking of the moodboard I have a question about the text you put there. Is there a particular logic behind it? How do you decide what goes up? All the love to you and mutt 😚
Tumblr media
Anon ilysm 🥺
Okay so storytime from the Making of FTC 😂
Back in 2020 when we started posting FTC I knew from the start that I wanted the moodboards to be something different than what I did for the other fics. I've been making moodboards for years now (and by that point it had already been 2 years worth of work) and I've developed a certain style and preference, but even so, I really really wanted the ones for FTC to be different and special, and I knew I wanted to keep the same style of moodboard for the entire fic. Because I'm annoying like that about certain things aesthetic wise 😂and idk I just thought it would be a cool thing to do for a multichapter (idea that carried over to the moodboards for Moonlight 😉).
I was immediately sold on the 3 vertical pics - blank middle - 3 vertical pics format, even if my go-to is usually 2x4 horizontal pics. Something about it screamed showbiz to me!
As for the text, I knew from the start that I didn't want it to be the chapter title. Nothing wrong with it (I do that for Moonlight) but I wanted something else for FTC. In most of my moodboards I really love to include a bit of text if possible, and by 2020 I was a lot into making an edit with a quote from the fic itself. So it felt natural to do the same for FTC but I wanted the text ✨️ to pop ✨️ and also be something that hints to the content of the chapter. And I found a pretty good solution imo 🤭
Chapter 1 moodboard has the question that Margaery asks Jon: "Have you made your choice yet?" Because it's just so central to that first chapter, isn't it? By the time we were ready to post chapter 2, I fixated on the idea that I should always stick to things other characters tell Jon or/and Dany. This is why the chapter 2 moodboard has the line that Margaery says to Dany: "Hope to hear from you soon".
I try to switch it up every chapter so you don't always get something that's being told to Jon for example. Oh and obviously some chapters have a line that's said to both of them together (ex ch 3 "Speak now or forever hold your peace" — again, Margaery saying this to jonerys before they sign the contract).
And the font reminds me of Hollywood or something you'd see on a magazine 🤭 so that's why I picked it.
Okay this was waaay too long of a reply but your question was very cool and I loooove talking about this stuff! I obviously take it way too seriously sometimes 😂 *coughs* like when I did that storyboard for Amy's fic. I clearly have issues 😭

do you prefer to plan an outline and write chapters individually and post them or write the entire thing and then post them (whether it be posting it chapter by chapter or all together at once)
Lol doesn’t my posting schedule speak for itself x) I absolutely cannot understand how people manage to write it all and then post. I have great respect for those who can, but I don’t understand. I would never have the patience. I need to post as soon as I’m done. If I’m extremely inspired I can have a few extra chapters sometimes, but it’s rare. I write it I post it.

Hello anon!
So while the next chapter is started, I am putting off finishing it while I finish a different WIP.
The goal was to have the WIP and 2 chaps of FtC done by the end of February as a birthday present to myself...but not sure I'll meet that goal.
I think I can for sure say that there will be a chapter late Feb/early March.
Fingers crossed honestly...good vibes and patience are appreciated my friend!

WELCOME BACK ONE AND ALL!
Welcome back to MY take on Toppat!Charles, the series that gives you... angst and cliffhangers in every chapter, just like Game of Thrones😅.
In case you haven't read them yet here are links to the first three parts, which I recommend you read because the brief recaps don't do them justice.
Part 1:
Part 2:
Part 3:
BRIEF RECAP AND HEADCANON TO FOLLOW FOR THE POST TIME!
After his attack on Burt, Charles has caved and is now open to what Right has to say and vice versa. Henry and Gerneral Galeforce, more Galeforce, have been contacted by the Center for Chaos Containment and offered their men for one Henry Stickmin. Ellie has been good emotional support, but Henry goes against Galeforce and Ellie in order to save his friend.
Got that? Great!👍
So what's the headcanon this week? Well, @triple-threat-toppats and @azuri-the-imperfect-artist have AU's/headcanons that Toppat-ing is in Henry's blood, whether that be biological or otherwise, and we'll be meeting a new character this chapter who ties this all together perfectly😈.
We all good? FANTASTIC!
LET'S DIVE IN!!
We pick up where we left off with Henry outside as a receptionist, of sorts, freaks out that he called, telling everyone on the floor and shouting for an official to take the call.
Through this entire exchange, Henry rolls his eyes at how much of a fan boy the receptionist is, groans that no one can find an official at two' in the moring, and eventually takes a seat and listens as a few mid-ranking officials argue about who gets to talk to him; 10.6 anomaly, he's a pretty big deal to them.
They all fall silent when a man shouts, "Hand 'im over to me."
Henry should be scared, but he's glad that FINALLY someone is on the other end to talk to.
"Mr. Stickmin," says the official. "Nice of you to call."
"Who am I speaking with right now?" Henry asks as he stands up, not at all interested in playing games. (The irony that hit me after I typed that🤦‍♀️😂😂)
The official scoffs, "Not one for banter. I respect that. Son, name's Corporal Bill Bullet, leading official of the Center for Chaos Containment. How can we help you at this hour?"
Henry paces as he continues talking. "You talked to General Rupert Galeforce, right?"
"We did, actually. About you, but you probably already guessed that."
Henry looks back at the toppat orbital station, staring at it as he stays silent. Again, he is not in the mood for games.
Bullet sighs on the other end of the phone. "Guess you calling means you've made you're choice?"
Henry is quiet for a second and swallows a lump in his throat. "What happens if I agree to the terms?"
"Take a guess, kid."
Henry sees flashes of his life if he is in the CCC's custody and groans at the migraine said flashes give him.
"You're quite the interesting person, Henry. Robbing a bank with a bag, breaking out of prison by dogding and throwing bullets before stealinga police car, stealing a diamond by pushing yourself off a bridge, taking down the toppats, and escaping a maximum security complex with barely even a scratch."
Henry bites his tongue as he remembers those moments and their alternative paths INCLUDING the fails.
"But you didn't just get a few scratches, you did? 10.6 is a pretty high rating on our meter. Can't imagine what would happen to a person who causes as much chaos as you."
Henry shakes his head and snaps, "Just tell me!"
Bullet is silent once more, disappointed at how he can't at least tease what is essentially a rabbit walking right into an easily seen trap.
"We'll study the source of your... ability. How one person can live one life before jumping to the next, but existing like he did before that life ended.
"You may be a young man, Henry, but you've probably lived longer and died more than the rest of us put together. Why is that? How, excatly?"
Despite the knot forming in his stomach, Henry nods and hums to let Bullet know he's listening.
"There's also a certain balance to the world, one that shouldn't be bothered, 'less we want to cause A LOT of collateral damage. Lead to a lot of people getting hurt, cause a lot of casualties. You already lost one person you care about. What if you lost all of them?"
Henry gulps as he remembers the complex riot and how a robot was sent to tear down the museum he stole the Tunisian Diamond from.
Any of those people could've easily been Ellie or the General or, if he'd gone down the Toppat route, the entire clan.
Bullet may be manipulating emotionally, but he kind of has a point.
The chaos Henry causes is extremely dangerous, if what we've seen in StD, ItA, FtC, and CtM are any examples. Imagine if he had caused that sort of chaos in a major city, like real world New York or Detroit.
I don't know about you guys, but if something like any of the games happened IRL, all caused by Henry, there would easily be cities flattened to the ground with COUNTLESS fatalities.
"Helloooo? You still with me, Mr. Stickmin?"
Henry snaps out of his stupor and takes a deep breath before talking again. "Promise me you'll help. I want your honest word."
"Which I'll stay good on as long ad you keep your end of the bargain," Bullet retorts. "A quarter of our forces at your disposal to help you get your friend back as long as you turn yourself in to our facility. Deal?"
Henry is silent again, but when he speaks again, he tries something:
"Will I still talk to anyone outside? Send them any letters?"
"Not really. Think the government would handle our research well? Or what you can do?
"Last chance, deal or no deal?"
Henry stares up at the sky, counting the stars and moon, and then watches orbital station drift across the sky, covering part of the moon.
"Sir, we have a situation!" Someone yells on the other end.
Bullet does one if those angry growls or snarls. "Don't keep me waiting on your answer, Henry. Our resources are limited, too. Make your decision and call me back the second you do."
"Sir-"
"I'M COMING!"
The call ends and Henry lets out a sigh as he drops to his knees and then hugging them to his chest, shaking and now doubting whether or not he's making the right choice.
Unbeknownst to him, however, Ellie had followed him when he walked out and is struggling very badly with hiding her tears and sobbing from Henry, who is over a few feet away.
JUMP TO SOME FAN SERVICE!!😍🤩
Er, Charles. Jump to Charles. I SAID CHARLES!!!!!
Charles is mostly done showering, mostly because he's done washing and cleaning himself up, even shaving because he looks better without facial hair, and is now simply standing in the shower and letting the water fall on him.
He can't exactly remember how long it's been since he showered last, but he doesn't bother trying to because it only makes him think about how the government destroyers were blown up and anyone who managed to get on the station was killed as a message to the government and Henry and Ellie, and as an example for Charles, in case he gets any ideas.
He keeps thinking about how Henry looked at him before he went unconscious, how Henry did nothing to help him even though HE could've done something. He had before on missions, so what had stopped him then and there?
"I was wondering the same thing," Right says, though Charles doesn't hear him over the water running.
Charles gasps as he slips to the ground and realizes how he's thinking about his friend, forgetting Right was standing on the other side of the wall and curtain to keep an eye on him, just in case.
"N-no," Charles says to who he thinks is himself. "He... He wouldn't just leave me. None of them would."
Right rolls his eyes at this and steps closer to where he's in front of the curtain, though he does grab a towel. "You know, you talk to yourself a lot. 'S kind of freaky."
Charles curls into himself and into the corner of the shower and covers his ears. "Shut up! Just shut up and leave me alone!"
"How long have you been here?" Right asks as he looks up at the ceiling. "And why isn't Henry here to get you out? Aren't you two supposed to be friends?"
"Stop it!" Charles cries, curling into himself further.
Right smirks and decides to twirs the knife. "He helped that Ellie girl, didn't he? When she needed his help? I wonder if what they say is true? Birds of a feather flock together? They're both criminals, so I wouldn't really blame them for teaming up."
"SHUT YOUR STUPID MOUTH!" Charles screams. "YOU'RE WRONG! ALL OF YOU ARE WRONG! HE'S COMING TO SAVE ME, THEY ALL ARE!"
Right's smirk drops and he raises and eyebrow before drawing back the curtain.
Charles flinches back, covering his head and waiting for the strike.
But it never comes.
He looks up at Right, who's standing and giving him a look that says very clearly, 'I'm getting sick of your shit, stop.'
The two stare at each other for a bit, Charles wide eyed and scared before glaring as hard as he can.
Right keeps his bored expression because while he's probably in the best shape he's been in in a WHILE, Charles has lost at least twenty-five pounds and is cowering in the corner of a shower with long hair and clean shaven face; one lesson they teach you: you don't always need a mirror to shave your face.
The two continue their staring contest until Right slings the towel over his shoulder, takes off his top hat, and reaches into the shower with his cybernetic hand and turns off the water, flicking any off his fingers before stepping back and putting his top hat back on, Charles staring the whole time in case Right attacks him.
Right doesn't, of course, and tosses Charles the towel before pointing to a set of clothes hanging behind him and , just something neat but comfortable, not exactly a sweater and sweat pants, but close enough.
He then walks away until he's facing the door, his back to Charles.
"Hurry up and get dressed. Your room's ready."
Charles dries off and does get dressed, but he's careful to not take his eyes off Right.
First this guy got Charles captured and isolated him from everyone else, and now he's letting Charles shower and have his own room?
What's he up to?
Don't worry, he doesn't talk to himself this time.
Charles finishes putting on the clothes Right gave him, and looks at the towel he'd just hung on the hanger that held his clothes. Then he looks at Right, who's back is still turned.
You know EXACTLY where this is going.
Charles takes down the towel, careful that it doesn't hit the wall, and starts twisting it up as he sneaks up to Right, who either looks down at a wrist watch or checks a pocket watch because now he's getting a little bored.
Just as Charles is about to get the jump on him, Right pivots to face him.
"Good. You're done. It took you long enough."
Charles is absolutely speechless as he goes completely pale his face drops.
"Here, let me take that for you." Right pulls the towel out of Charles's hands and unwinds it. "Shouldn't do this to a wet towel. Could get moldy."
Right nods his head as a 'follow me' and leaves the showers.
Charles remains shell shocked for a minute and tries not to burst into tears at how his plan blew up his his face, but ultimately walks after Right, who strides ahead with a smile on his face.
Think Henry got away with that call? Weeeeeeeelll...
CUT TO THE GOVERNMENT
Galeforce SLAMS his hands on his desk, making Henry jump slightly in his chair and Ellie flinch against the wall, her arms crossed and shoulders hunched.
"HAVE YOU LOST YOUR MIND!? ACCEPTING THE DEAL MADE BY THOSE NUTJOBS!? WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!?"
Henry's sign is sloppy and fast, but the general still understands it. 'Wanted Charles safe.'
"So do we, Henry, but not by selling one of our best!"
Henry shakes his head and signs again, this time more clearly. 'You can't make me change my mind.'
Ellie speaks up after being silent for so long: "Henry, think about what you're doing."
'Already did. Made up my mind.'
"Son, it's not worth it."
Those words hit Henry harder than they should, making him grit his teeth.
"Trust me. Those CCC guys are nothing but trouble. We can't accept their help."
Henry shoots up to his feet. "I DON'T CARE!" He screams. "CHARLES IS TRAPPED IN SPACE WITH NO ONE TO HELP HIM AND IT'S MY FAULT HE'S UP THERE TO BEGIN WITH, SO LET ME FIX THIS!"
No one talks as Henry pants, falling back into his chair and holdong his head in his hands, pulling slightly at his hair and shaking.
"It's all I can think of doing. It's our only option. I can't think of anything else."
Ellie and Galeforce exchange glances before turning back to Henry, who leans heavily on one hand or arm as he meets their gaze.
"You're sure you know what you're doing?"
Henry looks at them both for a moment while not speaking before nodding slowly. 'I can't think of anything else. The corporal hung up before I could say yes. Someone talked about a 'situation.''
Ellie and Henry stare at each other, the former more puffy eyed than she was last night because this could very well be the last time she sees her friend.
She doesn't want him to leave, but if it's really his choice, who is she to not support him after all he did to help her?
"When do you-"
'I'm going in to visit later. Called back and told them I'd gove my answer AFTER I talked to someone.'
Both look at him incredulously.
"Talk to who?" Galeforce asks as he turns his head to look at Henry through the corner of his eye.
Henry takes in a deep breath through his nose and holds either of his hands at the top of his head, raising them up and down, gesturing a top hat to them.
BACK TO CHARLES
Right leads Charles to the room and watches him walk inside and look around, almost confused because it's been so so long since he'd last been in a normal bedroom. And because there's a chance this could all be a trick.
"Been a while since you had a decent room. Prob'ly nicer than what you're used to."
Charles takes a seat on the bed and keeps his head down, confused and tired of Right's games.
"You don't really believe Henry's gonna save you, do you? It's been a while since the last destroyer was sent and the government has more pilots. You military people are pretty easy to replace. You are just a pilot, after all."
Charles keeps his head down and lets his hair hang; it's obviously grown longer and Right gave him a razor but no scissors.
"Why are you doing this?" Charles asks. "What do you want from me?"
Right fights a smile and approaches Charles, taking a knee infront of him and waiting for the pilot to acknowledge him, which Charles does by picking up his head and meeting his eyes.
BACK TO THE CCC HEADQUARTERS!!!!!
Henry is being led by four guards and Bill Bullet. He hasn't gotten a lot of sleep, but he's good at not showing it.
"Weird request to visit someone before you make your decision. Usually we don't allow visitors." Bullet turns and sees Henry keeping up behind him, zoning out slightly but snapping out of it when he sees him looking. "You're not as talkative as you were on the phone the other night."
'Only way to contact you,' Henry signs.
Bullet smirks a little bit. "You deaf in one of your ears?"
'If I need to, I'll talk. Otherwise, I'll sign. Now where is he?'
Bullet sighs stops at an acrylic wall, seeing a doctor talking to a man.
Henry bristles slightly before calming himself back down.
"Guessing you two haven't talked in a while. I love reunions."
Henry narrows his eyes at Bill and gestures to the room. 'Private?'
"Enough. Don't worry, we won't listen in." Bill then grabs Henry by his jacket lapel and shoves him against the wall, catching the attention of doctor and occupant. "But I'm warning you right now," Bill growls as he leans close to Henry's face. "Try anything funny while you're in there, and I'll make you regret ever being born."
Henry nods and Bullet backs off him, letting him collect himself as the doctor walks out.
"Sir? He's done with his tests. His vitals and mental state are stable. He's also ready to see his visitor."
Bullet sweeps a gesture to the door. "He's all yours, Mr. Stickmin."
Henry nods and enters the room, his eyes on its occupant.
The two stare at each other for a bit, taking in each other's features.
"Hello, Henry."
The man in this room used to be moderately fit, and a REAL charmer, but years spent in the CCC's facility have taken their toll. He's gotten skinnier, his face is wrinkled and sunken in, and his hair, while it's slightly longer than Henry's, is greying and becoming thin. He doesn't look terrible by any means, but he has definitely seen better days.
He has cybernetics for both his arms and one leg, along his spine, neck to tailbone, and in part of his jaw. Where his left eye used to be, the eyelids are closed and flat; he's not even allowed to have a glass eye.
Being overthrown by Reginald Copperbottom, both literally and figuratively, forever left him with a permanent reminder.
The two stare at each other for a little while longer before Henry replies to the notorious worst leader in the toppat clan's history.
"Hi, Dad."
The two continue staring, Henry shuffling in place and Terrence rubbing his neck.
Henry signs, 'How is it here?'
"A hell hole. Nothing to do, no one to talk to, and you only get something when they say you can. Other than that, it's peachy."
Terrence's eye darts to the guards and Bill before moving back to Henry. "Guess what they said was true. You're actually coming here so you can save your friend."
"Yeah," Henry replies after a second.
I know I'm putting in a lot of pauses, but these two don't even send letters to each other, so sharing a room and having a conversation for them is awkward and extremely uncomfortable.
Back on track, Terrence scoffs at Henry's line of thinking, commenting, "And I thought these doctors were crazy. Let me guess: Reggie decided to take something from you because you took something from him? He always was a child."
'Reginald's been in prison since I arrested him.'
"You arrested him?" Terrence repeats as he stands. "The leader of the toppat clan, the most infamous group of bandits and thieves, and you just turned him in to the government? Why didn't you join him, you would've been perfectly fine!"
'Right hand man has my friend, I need to get him back. That's why I'm here.'
Terrence puts his hands on his face and groans. "No. Do not tell me I'm hearing this." He meets eyes with Henry, who nods with a shrug.
"You broke out of prison with a bar from your own cell, stole a diamond on a scooter, and escaped a maximum security prison, but you arrested the leader of the toppat clan, the son of a bitch of did this to me-" Terrence holds his arms out to gesture to his cybernetic body. "- and gave him to the government, but didn't see his lap dog wanting to settle the score or even the odds with you!?"
'A lot goes through my head on missions, okay!?'
Terrence nods, humming cheekily. "I'll bet. Think it would've gone better if you'd used that gun you had? We both know he wasn't going to do anything."
Henry sees himself charging at Right rather than throwing away his gun, but signs back, 'You don't know what he would've done. You haven't seen him.'
Terrence points to a tv in the corner of the room, one right next to the camera. "Saw how he got an upgrade. You can groom and pamper a dog all you want, its bark will still be worse than it's bite."
Henry spots Bill talking to the guards before waving at him and tapping on his wrist, more specifically on a watch. 'Don't take long.'
"Saw their orbital station, too. Like hell you're getting your friend out of space. And like hell sunglasses over there is gonna let you out of his sight if you're serious about that deal."
Henry looks Terrence directly in the eye and nods. 'I know.'
Terrence's face drops as Henry continues.
'During the mission, I hesitated because I was scared he'd kill Charles, my friend. I helped the government by giving them plans, but nothing worked. This is my last option. You are my last option. You weren't around then to tell me what to do, but I need you now because for once I have everything I could ever want, and I'm about to lose it all for being a coward. I know you're not going to like it, or even care, but I just need you to be here when they bring me in. Just be there and tell me I did enough for once, when you're really around. That's all I need right now.'
It's this that makes Terrence drop the "tough loving father" act and makes him realize that this is for real. This is not his son saying, "I made a mistake, fix it for me." This is his son telling him that this is his plan and he needs support to know he's doing the right thing.
Henry is extremely shaky because this is something he does not do with his father. They aren't usually open with each other, as in they do get emotional; toxic masculinity at its finest... and daddy issues.
Regardless, Henry collects himself before signing again.
'I'm going to agree to the terms. If they can send a piece of the ground to space or erase the universe, then they can help me. It's all I can think of doing that'll work.'
Terrence is quiet for a moment, looking at Bill and the guards as they gossip about something before turning back to Henry.
"Are you absolutely sure about this?"
Hebry nods. 'It's all that I can think of that's going to work. Again, if they can send a chunk of land of space or erase the universe, then they can help me.'
Terrence steps back and shakes his head.
"You're going to die here. You know that, right? I'm telling you now it's not worth it."
Henry's face drops.
"Look, I get it. You never were good at keeping friends, but, Henry, I'm telling you, just let this guy go. Do you really want to spend the rest of your life locked in a cage?"
Henry shakes his head as he signs. 'No, but I'm not going to abandon my friend like you abandoned us.'
"I had a clan to run, Henry!" Terrence snaps. "I wanted you to stay, have an easy life, but no. You two just ran off on me!"
'Just because something's easy doesn't always make it right,' Henry signs. He begins signing something else, but stops before continuing. 'Look. I'm accepting the terms. I wanted to tell you now ao you're not disappointed later.'
Henry holds up a hand in farewell and turns to leave, ready to get back to the base and start forming a new plan.
"Henry?"
He turns to see Terrence staring once again, but also sees his throat bobbing, like he's coughing or about to be sick.
"Good... Good luck. Getting your friend back."
Henry's eyes widen and he shakily nods. 'Thanks.'
The two stare at each other like before, but this time they slowly advance towards one another, maneuver their arms until they're in an admittedly awkward, uncomfortable, but welcome embrace; again, emotion is not their strong suit.
"You're going to regret it. Turning yourself in. Life's for living, and you're throwing it away."
Henry pulls back and waves 'goodbye' once more and leaves the room.
"Took you long enough," Bill says as Henry rejoins him. "Have a nice visit?"
Henry narrows his eyes.
"Well, you got your visit. Hope you know how to get into that station."
Henry takes one last look at his father before nodding.
'The terms-'
"Same as advertised," Bill interrupts. "A quarter of our forces as long as you come quietly so we study your ability."
'AFTER my friend is rescued and safe.'
Bill waves him off. "Fine, yes. After your friend's back home and safe." He holds his hand out infront of him and Henry. "What do you say, Henry? Do we have a deal?"
Behind the acrylic, Terrence watches the two of them, his hands against the wall and his eyes on his son.
Henry keeps his eyes on Bill's hand before looking into his eyes. With a mental push, he claps his hand into the corporal's and shakes it, nodding.
"Deal."
Terrence bumps and shakes his head against the wall. "You idiot," he murmurs. "What are you doing?"
AND THAT'S A WRAP ON PART 4!!!!! Oh my goodness, did I enjoy writing this one! A lot of twists and turns and opportunities to just leave you all hanging, I'm not even joking. I haven't really written manipulation or character dynamics like Henry's and Terrence's before, and I think I did pretty well.
Again, check out @multiverse-madness and @azuri-the-imperfect-artist for their Terrence Suave AUs because they are both amazing artists and, honestly, do better with the character than me.😅
For real, all of you, thank you, thank you, thank you, so much for your patience with this one. Like I said in my update post, I have a lot going on in my personal life and just couldn't get in a good creative mindset to do this.
I know we didn't see a lot of Charles this time around, but that's gonna change in Part 5😈
ANYWAY, thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed, and HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!!!!

Happy Fanfic Writer Appreciation Day, Alice! Just wanted to let you know that FTC is easily my favorite Jonerys fic, and I've read a lot of them. You and Amy are both great writers but together you are unstoppable! Hope you don't mind an FTC related question or two. 1 - Will the Starks show up in FTC beyond a passing reference to Sansa (perhaps in a holiday visit to Winterfell)? 2 - Have you and Amy outlined how many chapters will be in FTC? Just wondering how much we can look forward too!
Thank you darling! 💜 truly means a lot to hear that!
About the Starks in FTC, like we've previously mentioned, they're going to make an appearance at some point 👀 can't reveal the how and the why though 😗
And regarding your second question, I don't have a clear answer for you. The entire fic has been outlined until the very end, but it hasn't been split into a definitive number of chapters. That's the thing, sometimes we have to shuffle things around and tbh with our word count going up...it's hard to say (at least for now). You might have noticed that in the last 2 chapters the timeline has slightly started to pick up. I know it took us a long time to cover month 1 but it was because so many things needed to happen and trust me, the slow burn is killing us just as much if not more. However, the remaining 5 months will pass by much quicker.
But basically, if you think about it, we have 5 more months of the contract (although we're already quickly approaching mid October...so more like 4 and a half) and the ending to cover. What I'm trying to say is you still have a lot of this fic to look forward to 🤭

William Byron Rumford (February 2, 1908 - June 12, 1986) was born in Courtland, Arizona, and arrived in Los Angeles with his mother and stepfather in 1915. After finishing his studies at Sacramento Junior College and UC Berkeley, he earned his pharmacy degree at UC San Francisco. His marriage to Elsie Carrington in 1932 produced two sons and a daughter. He worked as an assistant pharmacist and as a venereal disease investigator for the state. In 1942, he purchased and renamed Rumford’s Pharmacy. He was director of the Oakland chapter of the Red Cross, president of the East Bay Health Association, and was on the region’s Democratic Central Committee. Elected to the California State Assembly in 1948, he represented Alameda County, Berkeley, and part of Oakland. He was an early member of the East Bay Democratic Club. He served eight consecutive terms as 17th District Assemblyman until 1966. He sponsored a measure in 1949 that ended segregation in the California National Guard. He introduced legislation about fair trade and small businesses, child polio immunization, atomic energy conversion, and environmental pollution. He is remembered for three pieces of legislation: the California Fair Employment Practices Act of 1959; the Good Samaritan Act of 1959; and the law that bore his name, the Rumford Fair Housing Act of 1963, which failed to survive a referendum challenge (Proposition 14) but was upheld by the SCOTUS and served as the state’s main enforcement authority against race-based housing discrimination until the passage of the Federal Civil Rights Act of 1968. He accepted an appointment as Assistant to the Director of the Bureau of Consumer Protection in the FTC. A Mason and a Shriner, a member of Alpha Phi Alpha and Sigma Pi Phi Fraternities, the Commonwealth Club of California, and a trustee of John F. Kennedy University. A stretch of California State Route 24, a postal station at the Oakland Federal Building, and the William Byron Rumford Medical Clinic are among the landmarks named in his honor. #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence #alphaphialpha #siggmapiphi https://www.instagram.com/p/CoKZAA1L7vm/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

How to Choose a Good Financial Advisor - A Lawyer's Perspective
How to choose a good financial advisor and finding the best one for you is much like interviewing candidates seeking employment; you are the employer and the advisor is the employee. Working in the area of estate planning, I can offer some criteria I look for in light of my experience working with financial professionals.
Here are seven tips when "interviewing" candidates that are competing for your business:  learn about the chevron restoration plan
(1) Qualified Referral: Did the candidate come to you, or did you contact the candidate, based on a qualified referral? By "qualified referral," in other words, is the candidate someone who was recommended to you based on their proven success with their clients, or is it someone whom is referred to you because of a person you trust that is making a recommendation? Keep in mind that advisors are in a business which relies heavily on referrals. Advisors are also in "sales." Therefore, they are frequently soliciting referrals from new clients who have yet to "qualify" the referral based on empirical proof of their advisor's actual performance - though the client may have received good advice or service and thus wants to promote their advisor.
(2) Objective Ratings: There are sources such as A.M. Best and TheStreet.com (formerly known as Weiss) that rate financial companies with an A,B,C, (+/-), system. These are helpful to know if the advisor works for a well rated company or firm. Yet, at least with A.M. Best insurance and financial companies pay for their ratings to be published, which then calls into question objectivity. So, rely on more than just one rating source. There are also the Better Business Bureau reports (BBB), Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), as well as the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) that announce any wrongdoings committed by financial among other companies. Searching through the above will at least reveal any "red flags."
(3) Compensation Driven Advice: Unfortunately, those in financial positions may like other sales-related industries be held to scrutiny. When it comes to making financial recommendations, advisors' own compliance dictates acceptability, to some extent, based on whether the product advised passes a "suitability" test. The SEC thus has some built-in consumer protections in its regulations. However, the financial industry is very clever in making product recommendations that can get around suitability restrictions in attempting to be one step ahead of the SEC. As such, know how much your advisor is making on the deal as well as exactly what his or her company's share is of the compensation. The lesson of the past is that advisors are notorious for making recommendations based on compensation.
(4) Do not be fooled by guarantees of any kind: If your advisor guarantees anything, be highly skeptical. Some financial instruments, such as cash value in a whole life policy, can have some degree of guaranteed protection of principal. Yet, with any third party holding your money or assets, even if FDIC insured, there are no 100% guarantees - although there are some financial instruments that are safer than others (FDIC insured being relatively safe). In fact, promises of guarantees on financial products or plans that are not so can get an advisor in trouble with his or her regulatory agency.
(5) Good Standing: It is not offensive to simply ask about an advisor's good standing with his license and/or any disciplinary actions that may have been taken. You may even request that he or she furnish paperwork demonstrating a "clean record." Why not? Employers obtain background checks on employees. Right?
(6) Who is on the advisor's team: Know all the "players" on the advisor's team who will be a part of making recommendations and managing your account. Does his or her company have someone watching your money all the time? Will your investments be frequently assessed for risk and will precautions be taken ahead of market crashes like the one experienced in 2008 and 2009?
(7) Availability and Specialty: If your advisor or someone on his or her staff does not get back to you before the end of the day or at least first thing in the morning, this gives cause for concern. Good advisors tend to get back in touch with their clients within 24 hours after they are contacted, usually within the same day. On another note, is your advisor specialized in anything important to your needs. It is one thing to have an advisor "tend to your needs," but is he or she knowledgeable in desired products and areas that matter to your financial bottom line, such as in variable annuities, variable life insurance, long term care insurance, ETF's, etc., or college planning, distribution planning, aggressive growth investing, commodities, etc.
In addition to these seven tips, make sure your advisor takes ownership for bad recommendations as well as be modest about good ones. These indicate someone who is likely more accountable and less the defensive or ego driven type. Otherwise, it is good to know that someone will do everything they can when things do go wrong.
Ultimately, there are going to be advisors that are good and bad; the advisor that is good for you is equally important to choosing someone who is "good." A professional recommending the best products to meet your goals and protect your money is critical. Therefore, doing some of your own due diligence in financial products is a good idea despite seeking an advisor for their opinions. The money and finance section at your local book store ought to carry good publications that will assist you. In the end, seek a neutral opinion from someone outside the financial industry who has no reason to either defend or criticize companies or advisors themselves. Financial industry people may have a tendency to protect their own or be too quick to criticize another. After the recent aftermath of this recession, caution and deliberation with your current advisor or in finding a new one are well justified.

i’m gonna be real with you ive never finished og naruto all the way through (it’s so long and it stresses me out to have that many episodes but also omgod there’s so many episodes!!!) and i’ve never touched a single episode of shippuden and half of the characters i have no idea who they are but i just read through all of ftc (i saw some fan art of it and i kinda saw sakura with a badass sword and was like hell yeah and then i saw naruto with his mask and went HELL YEAH and then i saw sasuke looking fierce with his? small pointy things? and went Hell Yeah and then a small soft moment with naruto and said awww) and oh my god first off you’re so good at story building and like i feel like i understand clans and relationships and stuff better now obviously things are very different in your fic to how og naruto goes but like i think it’s finally clicked in my head the entire world of naruto and i’m like more pumped than ever to try and commit to finishing og and moving into the movies and shippuden but i just kinda wanted to say i guess second? point here (thank you for the break reminders at the end of the chapters i seriously binged and got so lost in what was going on) i’m in pain bc of the characters and stuff but it’s so good i cried my eyes out and came back for more i know i’m probably like spoiling a lot of naruto for myself but your fic is just soooooo well written and the plot is so thought out and things are surprising! and things hurt! and things also just really sooth the soul! i’m not sure where i’m going with any of this i just kinda wanted to slide in here and let you know that ppl are reading and absolutely enjoying every chapter and every plot arc and every character! and that also your fic is maybe encouraging someone (me :/ ) to actually get through naruto like they promised they would like 3 yrs ago also your fight scenes are really nice to read that’s kinda weird to like just come out and say that but i wanted you to know that i’m really not sure how to end this bc i wanted this to be short and not overwhelming but whew this is getting kinda long so i’m just gonna leave it at i love the platonic love and relationships that you built out and just how truly written kids are in your fic bc like their kids but also kids are kinda… people too with their own brains and thoughts and actions like what happened and how all the characters reacted was never forced and the adults making bad decisions and everything just made sense and it was out there! uhhhh i could go on for literal days i’m gonna have to wrap this up i’m sorry for just spewing this all over your inbox any ways small message in case this was overwhelming: thank you for writing ftc i’m about to start part 2 i will most likely be back to shower you with some hugs or maybe a gracious thank you for ripping my heart out idk depends where the last chapter is i’m leaving now 💞
Had no idea we could now leave asks so long lmao, but that's good! It's funny to me that you people often apologize for "too long" comments, I can't speak for all fic writers everywhere but to me there is no such thing. The longer the better. Who's gonna complain about getting love and support thrown in their face? Not me that's for sure.
Have to admit that this gave me a bit of a scare though because in my notif' I could only see "i’m gonna be real with you ive never finished..." and I thought it was going to be "never finished your fic bc it sucks" or something. I live in fear of people hating on my writing lol.
Anyway, thank you very much! Always a very nice feeling to get told that I'm not too bad at this fanfiction thing haha. If it makes you feel any better I never finished Naruto Shippuden either. I'm glad you had a good time with this fic, thank you for telling me! Hope you and everyone else will like what's coming too :)

Finale | Beauty and the Weeb - Josh
Tumblr media Tumblr media
youtube
Tumblr media
Today has been weird. I woke up with Tay mad at me, Emma got Kimmi’d and now Tay and I are stuck working together? What are we The Beauty and The Weeb? Jacob is in the best position this round and I need to be on the same page as him. I can tell Ari is defending Dan for some reason because they wouldn’t vote Dan.
Tumblr media
BIG SIGH
I have never ever in my life been so sad after a challenge. Like damn, these people really hate me huh. Like Josh, fuck you dude. What have you done in this game besides be Nic’s puppet and then be Emma’s puppet. Goodbye! Jacob!!! Ari and Taylor’s medallions were literally RIGHT THERE to smash and you did what? Smash mine? Ugly.
I am like 99% sure that I’m getting voted out tomorrow night because of my association with Ari. Which kinda sucks, but it is what it is.
Taylor is trying to tell me she thinks she can flip Josh on Jacob, but honestly idk about all that. Part of me wants to tell Jacob that she’s coming for him, but also, idk if I can trust any of them. Taylor also has been saying that if I’m down to target Ari at f4, then she could use her idol on me and then we can take on Ari together at f4. Idk if she just like drank the stupid juice or not, but that works for me? But will I be targeting Ari at f4 if they don’t win immunity? Idk about that. Hopefully I have immunity and we can get Taylor’s ass out of here at 4. The other option is that I go with the idol play plan, then let Ari know last minute so they can’t do anything stupid, and then vote Taylor out with Ari.
I have more options than I think, but I just don’t have the mental capacity to think them all through just now.
Tumblr media
I can't believe I've been playing this game for over a month. I'm so exhausted maintaining different relationships especially now when there's only 5 of us. I can't be caught playing both sides at this pivotal round. If I had it my way I would vote out Dan rather than Jacob but I can't even do that because Ari and Taylor refuses to vote out Dan. Here's how I think the vote will fall
Ari - Jacob Dan - Jacob Jacob - Dan (Possibly Taylor but I'm not counting on it) Taylor - Jacob
There is no way Jacob stays unless I can somehow convince Ari or Taylor to switch their votes. What the heck happened this round that made Taylor wanna work with Dan? Do they have a Final 2? Dan did give his money to Taylor the round Ali went. Dan is just the player that just won't go AWAY. I made a final 2 pact with him just so he doesn't vote me out this round but I don't intend to go to the final 2 with him. I don't intend to be in a final 2 with anyone here at all! The only scenario I can see myself having a chance to win is if I am at the Final 2 with Jacob because every single player here is going to win over me and it sucks.
Tumblr media
youtube
Tumblr media
I hate that I feel like every round is about me. Like that’s cute bc I love the attention, but also like come on y’all.
Obviously I’m worried it’s gonna be me tonight some how but I really don’t know what else I can do other than follow my gut with this vote.
I’m seeing where Taylor is at rn and acting like I’m worried that Ari and Jacob might vote me this round. If I’m able to convince her to idol me I’m obviously gonna get Jacob and Ari to vote her out. But we’ll have to see how that convo goes. She isn’t answering me which is concerning.
I’m not convinced that Josh will vote for Jacob and is going to vote for me because I think I scare him? I’m not really sure what the beef is there. Apparently he told Ari that he fears that Tay and I have a f2. Which I guess is sorta true but I also don’t wanna go to the end with her at all.
I’m hoping for an easy vote that either sends Josh or Jacob home tonight. That’s all I want universe. Help a boy out.
Tumblr media
im going 2 be sick. im getting 5th but like.........its ok i guess <3
Tumblr media
i have to win this for jacob.
there is no other option.
Tumblr media
The way I voted Josh and Jacob still went home bc of Ari!!! Omfgggg. I’m dying honestly. Thank god for this blinding light twist bc I didn’t get EXPOSED.
And I fucking won the immunity challenge. Who said a gay can’t spell? XOXO!
Honestly getting to final 3 is just so gratifying. I really would love to win the final immunity too to kind of show I have some challenge ability haha. My plan is to study the season because in the past I’ve seen the final challenge be season trivia so I really need to go back through and study shit. I feel like I have a reasonable shot at winning against most people but I know I’m gonna get TORN UP by Nick. I’m afraid to go to the end with Taylor and Ari because of their game, but I’m also afraid to go to the end with Josh because of his social connections. This is gonna be a tough tough decision and regardless of what happens I’m gonna piss someone off.
Going with Taylor seems like an okay move because I know I’d at least have Ari’s vote but I think it’s a toss up for the rest of the votes. Ari has been talked up as THE THREAT all game and honestly I see it, but they’ve also not played as flashy as I have. I have a lot more survivor-esque aspects to my game in my opinion. Like me literally attending every tribal council except for one, and being vulnerable at most of the tribal councils. I think a jury will like that I had to do what I had to do to survive. Then with Josh, I just don’t think I have a chance at many of the jury votes (Jabari, Nic, Emma) specifically, but I might pick up Jacob, Ari, Ali, and Brandi. With Taylor deciding if she wants to be bitter and tie it haha.
I mean my point here is that I’ve set myself up to have options. I know I probably won’t be player of the season but dammit I feel like I’ve played such a strong game.
Tumblr media
youtube
Tumblr media
It’s moments before f4 tribal council and I’m at peace with my decision.
I recognize the power that is Ari. I recognize that they may beat me. But I also recognize that I’ve made a friend for life. And that’s way more important to me these days. And if that’s an accolade to their social game, so be it.
I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again. I would literally die for Ari.
Tumblr media
youtube
AND NOW I GOT A LEGACY ADVANTAGE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! h*ck
it better be an add-a-premerge-juror because i don't wanna be MEAN
Tumblr media
This was a good ending chapter for my ORG career. I came into this game with no expectation. I took this game phase by phase. Preswap, swap, merge, end game. I knew I wanted to play differently than I have before. More loyal and less shady. I think there were moments when I was definitely tempted by people to revert to my old ways, but temptation doesn’t always mean you follow through.
I feel my game showed restraint. I stuck with Ari because I always knew they had my best interest in mind. Did I know every detail of their game? Nope. Did I need to? Nope. I still got here. I used information I had wisely. I knew when to call it quits with a plan and hang back. I never wanted to be the reason the vote switched to me.
That’s not to say I didn’t have many close calls, because I definitely did. But I survived. I went to all but one tribal council, and I survived. My social game got me here when I got swap fucked. I fucking did that.
Regardless of what the jury thinks of me, I know that I played a game worth making FTC. Is it a winning game? That’s not for me to decide officially. But, to me I’ve won. I’ve won in ways that go past having my name in a winners circle. I’ve learned so much about myself through this game and through my friendships with others. And that’s okay with me. I look forward to answering the questions about my game, but there is one thing I will not stand for and that’s being made to feel badly for the decisions I made.
At the end of the day those decisions were mine and I stand by them 100%.
This may not have been my first rodeo, but in a way I’m happy it will likely be my last.
Much love ORGs. You’ve given me a lot ✨😌
Needless to say, that was rough. Rougher than I expected tbh.
I probably should have fought more, but I fought so hard in this game that I was so beaten up by the end.
To say I’m proud of my game is an understatement. I played so well in my opinion and frankly I wouldn’t change a thing. To finish my org career with a second place finish, makes me so proud. From a 17 year old kid with an attitude problem, to a 26 year old kid with a slightly smaller attitude problem, I can thank ORGs for a lot of my growing up.
They’ve taught me to value my strengths and work on my weaknesses. I owe a lot to these silly games.
To be proud is to be fulfilled. And I am fulfilled. Time to check into my room at the retirement home ❤️

that final tribal council was ROUGH........ i think i did okay but i'm stressed over all the things i forgot to mention, definitely said "social" too many times, didn't get to talk about all the specific strategic choices i made...... i feel confident of 3 votes (jacob, taylor, ali) and that's it i seriously don't know what's gonna happen but either way i'm very proud of myself and i'm proud of dan and it has been an honor to be in this rodeo <3 so long and thanks for all the scorpions
