Being French and trans. Whenever I speak to my parents I have to constantly misgender myself to avoid outing myself. Every time I say I did something, I have to add the feminine ending. It’s horrible for dysphoria, because it’s not just someone else who thinks I’m a girl, it’s me actively saying it. Fucking hate French. Everything has to be gendered.
I remember discussing Tintin casting choices with a friend from Germany and remarked how it was odd he often has an English accent in adaptations rather than a Belgian one, and my friend just replied "that's because Tintin gives incredibly strong English boy energy (derogatory)"
Here in the UK there's a lot of weird classism tied into accents. Today accent diversity and representation in broadcasting is actively pursued but in Tintin's time there certainly was a preferred accent to have.
imagine this exchange happens between pages 28-29 in The Crab with the Golden Claws
why arent people who speak spanish allowed to take spanish class in high school. just cuz you can speak it doesn't mean you can write it and part of the class is writing. just saying
Sooooo now if you’re North African or Black you cannot wear a long dress at school anymore which extend to public servants jobs.
France really said “Wait we need to remind everyone of our Islamophobia”.
Basically the Abaya has been declared to be a religious garnement and as such it is now not allowed to wear it in schools. Given that they cannot differentiate a abaya from a long dress (because there’s no fucking difference) they will have to pick when it’s a abaya and when it’s just a long dress… and as everyone can already see it they will pick by deciding that Arab, Amazigh, North African and Black girls are automatically wearing a abaya.
i applied for a job at a heritage library in the city but they require you to know 3 languages including french and I only know 2 and I don't know french 😭😭😭😭 so I probably won't get it 😭😭😭 but it seems like such a cool job 😭😭😭😭
i hate french. i hate it so much. i had french for 8 years and I can only introduce myself and half-heartedly understand a conversation 😭😭😭
i hate that fucking language. i also hate that jobs in this stupid country basically always require you to know fucking french. i hate fucking french
if you took a language class in school (any level, any language) did your instructor assign you a name from that language? like, when i took french in high school i was assigned a "french name" that i had to use in that class. did anyone else experience this?
“jensen wouldn't be able to differentiate between me and cas” misha my dude jensen is not even able to differentiate between dean winchester and himself so
