i will truly never be able to move on from nathan coming down the stairs to kill neil BAREFOOT !!! like it's something as nonchalant as an every day household chore. even the literal trash in that house likely faced a more dignified end because at least he would have to put in the effort of getting fully dressed to take it out

i am thinking once more about how Wymack is from Baltimore. and Nathan Wesninski presumably has been in Baltimore for a decent portion of his life to get the city in his Official Murderer Title. The EC (if i remember right) says Wymack left home at 14 and eventually dropped out of high school (later got his GED to go to college), but he was probably not doing great all things considered: violent household, parental neglect, homelessness TLDR schoolwork not really a priority or maybe he just told someone to fuck off. and Nathan is an asshole who knows when that started.
ANYWAY all this to say I think they were in the same after school detention. maybe even just once. and Wymack doesn’t really remember, maybe it comes back to him in Neil’s third year, when Nathan’s posthumous trial is public and Wymack sees a photo in the papers with a cruel smirk and a forehead scar that looks so familiar. He tells himself it must just be resemblance to Neil, but the memory does come back.
The boy at the desk by the window, twirling his pen with the absentminded smugness of somebody who knows they’re the smartest in the room. The boy who had watched intently as Wymack had pulled the his too-small scruffy hoodie over his face, not quite enough to hide the black eye he was sporting. The boy who has offered him gum once, seemed to recognise the two of them as the same in some sort of way, maybe the violence, maybe the detention. Maybe he’d just been entertained by Wymack’s squirrelly nerves and jumpy disposition.
And I don’t think Wymack would ever mention this to Neil. He doesn’t like to talk about Baltimore, neither of them do. But just to check, double check, he digs out an old yearbook and there’s the photo he was looking for. in the back, with miscellaneous candids of the school’s nobodies, the dropouts, assorted photos. black and white print, a few others in the background, one tall and scrawny boy startled, scruffy, and clearly uncomfortable, sat near a boy with wavy hair, a cutting smirk and air of relaxed confidence, twirling that pen in his left hand.
Wymack closes the book, pours himself a stiff drink (changes his mind and slugs down half the bottle), and never opens it again.

I can imagine how at some point Nathan Wesninski kidnapped some poor writer and made them write down his biography. Did they publish it as fiction after his death? Or they had guts and pull out real names and shit? Have they waited for a trial to add details from Neil? Have they published it purely from their perspective as a kidnapped victim? Or have they played a card of a villain that was misunderstood? Did Nathan tell them about Moriyama?
Yeah, maybe he’s lost a leg or something, but at least he’s set for life with the money from this book adaptation.

Bloody Hearts
strap in for some Nathan/Mary LFG
Nathan first meets Mary at 25
The Moriyamas and Hatfords were not enemies but they didn't really get along
however, they still negotiated on some things
and in one such case, mary came with her brother as Hatford representation
And Nathan was hooked
she wasn't pretty per se
but something about her captured him
perhaps it was the way she looked at everything as if it was below her
or that her nails and lips were a matching shade of blood-red
but he was infatuated
once the negotiations were over he approached her
convinced her to leave with him
to go get a drink
and drink they did
Mary was certainly one to hold her liquor and practically drank him under the table
but she wouldn't go home with him
no matter what he did
but she would be in town for a couple weeks
and so he tried again
and again
and again
and by their 3rd date in 2 weeks she finally came back with him
he didn't expect to be the one who ended up flat out on his back though
yet he did
bending to her every whim and desire
and his fate was sealed
he married her that very next year
and within 2 had her pregnant with an heir
one who came out a spitting image of himself
it was everything he could have asked for
until Nathaniel wouldn't stop crying
wouldn't even let Nathan hold him
his contempt grew from there
and then the boy was too softhearted
and Mary would only defend him
taking up all of her time and attention
and so Nathan did what he always did
he butchered
he butchered their son and had Mary watch
insisting they could make another one
a better one
one that didn't cry at the sight of blood
But Mary was more clever than that
she resented him for the death of their son
he could tell
but he never expected to wake up one night with those blood-red nails around his throat
trembling around the trigger of a gun that she held to his temple
kissing him with those ruby lips once more before she pulled the trigger and ended the man she once loved
but she couldn't dawdle
she had an empire to rule

okay so yall know how in like shows, books, movies just a lot of media's there's characters that do a bunch of fucked up stuff, and like a lot of people will get like complaints/criticism/hate ig for either writing stuff for said characters cosplaying said characters and stuff and like I'll be honest here I'm a hotd fan I'm a aegon fan like do I support the shit he has done NO I don't support it, (unless were on about after his sons death with the war and all then yeah sure I do to an extent, the same way i support team black) I find his character interesting, heck I find Nathan from aftg interesting.
are there fandoms that make different versions of characters yes there are, I'm pretty sure there's a fannon version of aegon that didn't sa anyone and I'm pretty sure people who do hotd fanfic with ocs and pair them with characters use that version heck I have aegon fanfic in the works however the character is diffrent to fit the plot of what I'm writing with said oc character I have (I just outed myself for this oh well)
but like don't send hate to actors who portray the characters because it isn't there doing there just doing their jobs

Nathaniel Wesninski, if he had stayed with his father... really just an excuse to draw Neil as Timothee Chalamalabingbong when Jo rejects him... lol.
Tumblr media
I tried to colour match the best I could but there were so many wrinkles in his clothes I couldn't be bothered to draw all of them!

I love Andrew Minyard as a criminal justice major. Just imagine the possibilities that could happen!! He'd 100% write a paper about nature vs nurture that is about himself and Neil (only if you read between the lines can you tell that tho)
Oh man!! An idea is coming into my head as I think about this!!
Okay, okay, so imagine the following.
Andrew is in his The Serial Killer's Psyche class when he learns about the more recent recent killers, including The Baltimore Butcher.
He lowkey becomes fascinated with the whole thing.
(It's the knives)
And goes down a rabbit hole looking into anything and everything regarding the Wesninski family.
He learns that Nathan was married and had a son, Nathaniel, with a member of another known mafia family from across the Atlantic, Mary.
The son would be the perfect killing machine for these two.
But then he learns that Mary and Nathaniel died tragically in an unknown form.
"The family wants to keep their privacy in these hard times." The press says.
Despite Andrew researching for days (he even went to the library once!) He can't find any record of how they died, but their death certificates have the same time stamp on them so at least he knows they died at the same time.
After finding out as much as he can about the family, he is (and he would never admit this to anyone at all ever) solely on the side of the cops in believing that Nathan Wesninski is The Baltimore Butcher despite there not being enough evidence, etc etc.
Having learned all he could, he all but forgets about the Wesninski family.
Fast forward to the next semester when Kevin tells him they are going to Arizona because he found them a new striker.
As Neil is trying to catch his breath from Andrew hitting him, Andrew is suddenly excepiencing a new phenomenon to him "familiarity"
For some reason, this flight risk reminds him of someone, but he can't quite remember who.
This is new.
Not remembering something.
Is his memory failing him for the first time ever?
He blames it on his meds and moves on
Everytime he sees Neil after he moves to Palmetto, he has the same feeling.
Ever. Single. Time.
It is increasingly aggravating and intirely too intresting.
After weeks spent trying to remember who Neil reminded him of, filing through every person he's ever encountered, and Neil's skitish behavior, he decided that Neil must be a threat.
Why else would his instincts tell him not to trust Neil?
Why didn't he react to the Moriyamas coming south that fall?
Why couldn't he fucking remember where he knew Neil from???
His shell cracked a little bit and he decided on impulse that Neil was going to Eden's with them
Andrew was practically vibrating with rage by the end of that night.
"Who are you?" Andrew asked.
"Wha- I don't understand? I'm Neil?"
"No. I know you, but I've never seen you before." Andrew watched as Neil tensed, wondering what was running through the runners head.
"We don't know each other." Neil made as if to walk away, but he didn't make it far before he had to grab the wall to stabilize himself.
"I know you." Andrew said, grabbing his shoulder.
"No, you don't." Neil shoved him.
"Do you work for the Moriyamas?"
"You think I'm a mole?" Neil scoffed, but it was more slurred with the drugs in his system.
"You're something. And I know how to properly dispose of a body." Andrew said lowly, threatingly, putting both hands on either side of Neil, caging him him.
"So do I." Neil's voice was steady, and he shoved Andrew back as far as he could before taking off.
Neil feeds Andrew half-truths the next day at Wymacks, saying that he must have seen him on the street somewhere. He honestly had no idea why Andrew recognized him.
Andrew doesn't believe that, but he believes Neil's half-truths about his family and lets him go.
Eventually, the familiar feeling is exchanged with actual recognition, and the books continue on as normal
UNTIL
Andrew gets out of Easthaven and sees Neil with his blue eyes and Aubrun hair and brused face, and Andrew freezes for only a moment.
But for that moment, it's like a Christmas tree lighting up in Andrew's head.
Neurons firing and connecting dots he didn't know went to together.
Nathaniel Wesninski stood next to his family
Nathaniel Wesninski protected his family while he was in rehab
Nathaniel Wesninski has been alone with Kevin every night for the past 4 months
Nathaniel Wesninksi was a runaway
Nathaniel Wesninski was alive
Nathaniel Wesninski
Andrew doesn't know what to do with this information yet, so he does nothing
He goes about his decided itinerary for the day
He still doesn't know what to do until "I never understood why he liked knives."
Everyone else was thinking Riko, but Andrew was thinking Nathan.
He decides then and there that he's not going to say anything until Neil tells him.
Neil's "I'm Nathaniel" hits Andrew like a gut punch.
He already knew it but now it's confirmed.
When Neil goes missing, Andrew was the first to tell coach about Nathan's release from prison.
He persuades Coach (read: stares down repeating "Baltimore") to take them to Baltimore because that's where Neil is.
Books go on as normal
Life seemingly goes back to normal after summer break.
They start the new semester with significantly fewer worries, and Neil is figuring out his newfound freedom.
Andrew is in his Advanced Psychology class when Nathan Wesninski is brought up again.
The professor - fortunately for her sake - doesn't mention Neil or Nathaniel at all but assigned them an imaginative assignment
They are to pick a serial killer and study what is known about their at home life and write a paper about what it might be like to grow up in that kind of enviroment
Andrew was going to ignore this assignment, but Neil found out and thought the whole thing was hilarious.
Neil finds out that Andrew was entirely too fascinated by the Wesninski family.
"You liked me before you even met me."
Eventually, they decided that Andrew didn't have to write the paper.
"Mr. Minyard. It is your turn to present."
Andrew and Neil walk to the front.
"This was a single person assignment, Mr. Minyard."
"I think a first-hand account is better than anything I could have come up with. Don't you think?"
"First hand?"
"Hello Andrew's classmates. I'm Nathaniel Wesninski, but please call me Neil. Fair warning. If you ever call me Nathaniel, I will kill you."
They spend the rest of the class basically ragging on Nathan the entire time

Okay, so, hear me out—
We've got our square share of Riko-Neil's-abusive-ex fanfiction, and the idea is wonderful, truly delicious! But.
What if...it was Lola?
Like— let's pretend for a second that Nathan isn't that bad. A local mobster perhaps. Or just an average alcoholic, throwing kitchen knives at his son during the long benders.
Lola works for him and is—obviously—obsessed with the man (eww)
She is older than Nathan's son, Nathaniel —let’s say about a ten-year difference — and the boy is so delicious! He looks just like a younger version of Nathan himself and is way easier to manipulate. (yes, I'm thinking about this part of the king's men)
Tumblr media
So she does manipulate him, abuse even. Clearly it's grooming, 'cuz when she starts Nate is still a minor, and that helps her to build an even stronger connection between them.
Nathaniel Wesninski knows that he is just a more amenable replacement for his father. He hates her. But he's way too deep in that shit to stop, because her continuous manipulation has paid off.
So he suffers. Nurtures his silly little crush on the best friend and surrenders all his resolve to not drag Andrew into his mess — ever the martyr.
Nathan sees everything and doesn't give a fuck.
Andrew sees everything and hates himself for making a deal with Neil, according to which the rabbit gets to fight his own battles.
Foxes are foxes.
Riko is a bitch, but otherwise harmless.
And perhaps Stuart saves his unlucky nephew once again.
Am I writing this? Yes

🐝 How To Make Friends, Influence People, And Get Away With Murder
"How To Make Friends, Influence People, And Get Away With Murder"
nathaniel didn't quite believe it when his father told him that they were cutting ties with the moriyama's and needed to make a big spectacle of their parting ways. nathaniel definitely didn't believe it when his father showed him a picture of the moriyama's most prized possession. kevin day's death would send ripples through the entire empire; it was suicide on nathan's part. nathaniel wondered if he was just finally bored.
with freshly dyed hair and a sparkly new passport, nathaniel finds himself in an empty orange accented locker room in south carolina, at some ridiculous time of the night. judging by the bag nathaniel had nearly tripped over while he snuck in - he'd picked a good night to carry out the hit. he traced the outline of a knife he'd sheathed on his forearm, and waited, and waited, and waited.
"who the fuck are you?"
nathaniel wasn't expecting to look up into the eyes of a short, blond man instead of kevin day. his target stood tall over the other man's shoulder, and judging by the fact he hadn't ran at the sight of a wesninski, kevin didn't know who he was looking at. nathaniel prayed to god for some luck, and stood up with an outstretched hand.
"neil josten," nathaniel said. "and i want to play for the foxes."
(aka nathaniel has to carry out a hit on kevin, but when he gets caught in the process, he creates neil josten to infiltrate the foxes. but so many lies in one group of people is bound to end badly - and in great, big, mess, too.)

au in which nathaniel is married to riko
okay so
in this universe there's no mafia, the moriyamas are just filthy rich businessmen, but nathan still is a serial killer
things go a bit different in the sense that nathan kills mary when neil is 10 bc he loses his temper and keeps neil practically captive in that house, torturing him endlessly until nathan slips up and somehow the fbi finds the evidence they need to raid the house when neil is idk 15 ish and they end up killing nathan and neil is sent to foster care
he doesn't have as bad a time in foster care as andrew did, some parents like slapping him around, but some are genuinely nice people
ultimately tho he's not adopted by anyone by the time he turns 18 (he tells himself he doesn't mind, who would want a damaged and quiet and sketchy and flighty kid in their family anyway?)
he's left on his own, to figure out how to be a real person, an adult, with no home, no place to stay, no friends, no family, nothing but himself
he goes through a few years where he just lives on the streets, spending the little money he has left on food, going to shelters when he can, traveling through states until he gets to new york
he's attacked and harassed by some guy at some point outside a bar or something and he's so dazed he cant even fight back, but someone fights back for him
and its riko moriyama, famous fucking exy star and professional athlete
he saves neil and he takes him to his place, where he lets him stay and recover and hey, he's actually kind of sweet, and he really cares about neil, and maybe it wouldn't be so bad to stay with him? and when riko kisses him the first time maybe its not so bad? and maybe when they start dating he's incredibly loving and he gives him gifts and it's the happiest neil has been? and maybe when riko proposes neil says yes and they get married and they're happy? genuinely happy for once?
except that at some point, the love becomes anger, the sweet gestures become punches, the care becomes jealousy and control and pain, and what was the best thing in neils life becomes a nightmare once more
(and maybe he blames himself, maybe its neil thats the problem, maybe its him who brings out the worst in people, maybe he's doomed to this cycle of abuse)
its not until riko beats neil withing an inch of his life that neil runs
OH SHIT WAIT LMAO I FORGOT TO SAY
neil doesn't actually go by neil throughout all of this, he still goes by nathaniel, his legal name, nathaniel wesninski is married to riko moriyama not neil josten
so neil runs and runs and runs with what little money he could steal from riko and he adopts neil josten's identity until he physically cannot keep going
luckily for him, his collapse happens far enough, all the way in seattle in the same pharmacy that medical intern aaron minyard was buying some supplies
so yeah aaron freaks out and almost calls an ambulance but neil stops him bc he's scared bc riko might not have mafia connections in this universe but he has so much fucking money
and it takes aaron and katelyn and abby on the phone for them to fix a heavily beat up neil who should definitely go to the hospital but this is the best they can do
(aaron just assumes he's homeless, and he cant pay the hospital, and he's a fucking softie deep inside so he does everything he can to help how he can)
and maybe when kate catches neil sneaking out one night, she does everything to stop him and offers him safety and maybe the exchange some truths, maybe kate guesses that neil had someone that abused him, maybe someone he loved and neil is scared and he doesn't feel like he can trust anyone but something about kate makes him break down and tell her what he can while making sure he doesn't reveal much
and im taking too long but basically aaron and kate take neil in and they introduce him to the foxes and to the legendary kevin day and andrew minyard, professional exy players for the seattle exy team
and well it takes time and lots of trust before neil lets himself open up again
but its in the form of andrew minyard and the way they can both respect each others boundaries, and neil tells andrew about nathan, but never reveals the truth about being married or anything about riko moriyama
until andrew asks neil to marry him and well
it all goes to shit lol
neil cant bring himself to tell andrew the truth and it all becomes a mess and andrew breaks things up and neil becomes a mess as well
(bc its true, it's on him, its always on him and god he never learns, he never fucking learns, he doesn't fucking get happy endings, he doesn't fucking get good things)
and he tries to leave aaron and kate's place again, and he's successful this time and he's on his way out of seattle when he stops by a gas station to get some food and he has no idea of where he's going and he hesitates for a while, until he catches the eye of andrew on his car outside, and andrew just looks away and leaves and-
and if neil was hesitating before he's sure now and he has to leave for good and he has to leave and get away and never come back and
and he runs right into riko moriyama as he's leaving the store
to be continued maybe??
