I say you americans should have a revolution instead
I'm all for a great governmental upheaval but stupid idiots here can't even boycott chikfilla and starbucks. I just don't think the masses are ready for such a thing to happen right now realistically, not trying to sound defeatist. If a fucking genocide isn't a good enough reason, something domestic needs to happen.
Honestly felt we were on to something and people were finally realizing how fucked things were during covid and when blm protests were in fullswing but that shit got diffused/diverted by people being mad at fucking confederate statues instead. And instead of defunding the police, every city except for like Denver just gave the police a billion more dollars ffs. Regardless, huge respect to people who have protested and continue to protest despite our useless government. Braver than I could ever be.

so this was a big episode even though some of the bad kids didn't have much to do. I'll talk about it through the characters because that's easier for me. More under the cut
Gorgug didn't do much, but he tried, it's just that the thing he wanted to do was talk to Ragh who was in post-grad at a highschool party mode and it was hard. He was a good friend by throwing the contest and he got them a conversation with Lydia about the similarity between the crystals. He still played a good support role as a good friend with his friends backing them up when needed.
Adiane like Gorgug played mostly a background/support role since she gets shitfaced really early on in the episode. Her biggest thing was meeting two of the remaining Ratgrinders. Other than that she helped with the groups popularity and did her best to support her friends, but due to her drunkenness was kind of out of it and in the background for a lot of the ep. Her getting drunk because of her situation was sad, oweing more money due to what happened with Oodles of Strudel and having money problems thrown in her face again since Oisin of the Ratgrinders didn't have that issue due to his family and Ivy poking fun at the fact that Adaine should have old Fallinel money that she doesn't have access to. Still, drunk Adaine herself was funny and adorable, even if the reason she was is sad.
Fig also played a support role, almost literally being the other Kristen for a while to sell her to the student body to seem more appealing as a candidate. but she also attempted to sus out some info on the Ratgrinders to varying levels of success. But I think the big thing she did the ep was being their for Mazey who needed a friend after Fabian hurt her feelings. It was a sweet and genuine moment that I really liked with Fig and also it helped Fig verbalize that she wasn't sure if she still wanted to be a bard which is something she'll have to struggle with
Overall it was a big Riz, Fabian, and especially Kristen episodes
Riz did his Riz thing, trying to juggle multiple things to achieve his goals while still trying to sus out the big mystery. He was all over the place in the best way this ep, He was introduced to at least 3 club presidents of the various clubs he joined which will run him ragged. He did his best to campaign for Kristen while also trying to limit her amount of self-sabotage. And he did his best to work with Gorgug to find out why Kalina said Rahg's name before she got re-corrupted. And of course there is a new mystery with the arcano-tech in Fabian's basement that was messed with. Brennen is clearly setting up something, but I'll also admit I was starting to fade by that point in the ep.
Fabian... was a dick this episode, it was building but now that he is at the party where he can bask in the attention of his peers that he wanted since freshman year and he got the attention of the bad girl Ivy, something he's also always wanted. In doing so he was put in a Betty/Veronica situation where he hurt Mazey's feelings which none of his friends were happy about. Overall he also showed off her classist/elitist side that was there in Freshman year but kind of got worn down over the year and sophomore year. Now that he's the big man on campus and on the inside is terribly lonely, that part of him is back in fullswing so he can pretend everything is fine. The guy's regressing and who knows where it's gonna go. Additionally, he introduced us to the remain Ratgrinders with Adaine, Buddy and Ivy and we got more with Ivy than Oisin or Buddy since Fabian is trying to court her. He also got a new nemesis with Gertie because he was a dick so there's that.
Kristen had a big episode, trying to put her face out there since she's running for class president, but her heart clearly isn't in it. The whole divine situation she is in is crazy so that's understandable. She also was introduced to her foil on the Ratgrinders, Buddy, even though they didn't actually speak since she was invisible. The biggest thing is dealing with her second lost goddess and the phonecall with Tracker. I'm not even gonna touch on that here, that is gonna be it's own post if I can. Still it highlighted a lot of Kristen's weaknesses and harsh as it may have been, Tracker for the most part was right.
As for the NPC's
We got 3 club presidents but the only one who had much screen time was Gertie, who I feel really bad for. She is the club president of a club that has 1 official member, Riz signed up and that's just to pad his college resume. The other bad kids probably made her really happy that they seemed sincere about joining, but then it turned sour when Fabian on his high horse insulted her. So that's kind of up in the air.
We were introduced to the last 3 members of the Ratgrinders and it's kind of hard to gauge what they're like. They seem less antagonistic than the other 3, or at least Ruben and Kipperlily, mary-ann just seemed like done with everything and apathetic than antagonistic.
Buddy, the cleric and Kristen's foil, is a weird case because he's clearly the judgemental church kid. He's the type of kid who will grow up into an asshole, but honestly he seems sincere now at least and I don't think I'm gonna write off a 16 year old who has the same personality as Kristen in her freshman year. Also 2 more interesting things about him is that he is not the chosen one of Helio since that is Kristen and probably always will be which hopefully will lead to some interesting interactions. But also he has not been with the Ratgrinders since Freshman year, he just moved to Solace/Elmville over the summer and was quickly recruited by them so who knows how deep his loyalties lie.
Oisin, the wizard and Adaine's foil, is a weird case because from what we've seen from his short conversation with Adaine he seems pretty chill. There might be a connection between him and Adaine, which I'm not super interested in, but it did happen. Dragonborn Conjuration wizard is an interesting choice He seems nice since when he saw through Adaine's deception he was offering some of the 'extra's' his ancestor gave him. That being said, it's possible he was there to get dirt on the bad kids, it's possible he was the one controlling the ice mephits in the basement so it's hard to say if he was being sincere or not the whole time or if he's like Preston from the Seven.
Ivy is the last Ratgrinder we met, I can only assume she is a fighter since that's the last position open in the Ratgrinders as the Bad kid's foil and is Fabian's foil. She's an elf who uses a bow according to her character art, so I can assume that's her main weapon. We didn't get a lot from her other than she's kind of a bitch and isn't afraid to antagonize people for no real reason other than she can, which of course makes Fabian incredibly attracted to her. The way she acted towards Fig disguised as Lucy Frostblade, the Ratgrinder's former cleric who at least was dead sometime in Sophomore year was interesting. She didn't seem surprised by her being at a party or alive so there's that, but also it sounded like they have something to talk about which the bad kids don't know about.
Overall a fun interesting episode, I'll admit I'm not a huge fan when the party parties. I'm in my 30's now, but the party scene was never my thing growing up in real life so I'm not a huge fan now. But it was fine overall.

Hey it's been awhile, hope your doing good, staying busy, working towards your goals and taking time to do the things that make you happy.
I've been good, refocusing and reorienting things in my life. I'll be moving in just under a month and with work fullswing in the busy part of the year free time is sparse. But as I find myself taking a minute to sit and have a little bowl of banana pudding I thought I'd drop in and check on things. I miss talking through things, expressing myself with written word and whining sometimes, I miss reading some of your adventures and thoughts too. Hopefully you'll forgive me and be here when I get back after things settle down?

you don't have to share this if you don't wanna, but it really is a breath of fresh air on here to hear people actually point out what is obvious regarding the whole harry/zayn/1D thing. it is so clear that work on making harry the next timberlake was going on fullswing and zayn made a very smart decision for his career. he must have pissed so many off with that lmao and i am glad!! but also one thing that always confuses me is why louis INSISTS on them having been perfect best friends. the only person in the band he has publicly shown his anger towards is zayn. i have believed in larry for ten years now (although my understanding of it doesn't match most others’), but all throughout mitam promo I was very *side eye* towards louis and harry suddenly being friends laughing around interacting again. i still look at that time with so much skepticism. i would love to hear your thoughts (anything around what i rambled, and only if you like)
cannot believe we r still having these conversations in the year 2023 but i think we will always be having these conversations bc we will never know the complete truth. anyway i do think zayn & louis were genuinely really really good friends. they both have a similar working class background and both seem to take immense pride in it, so naturally that would lend to a strong foundation in a friendship. and idk to Me it isnt that confusing that louis would be angry with zayn. like i dont Approve of the things he's done/said to/about zayn but it i can understand how that would happen. people tend to be more hurt by those that are closest to them and those they value most. whether zayn left for his mental health or because of industry politics or both, it's understandable that louis might be more angry with zayn than if it were liam or niall—because he was always closer with zayn.
but anyway!! mitam erea is sooo fascinating to me esp as a larrie bc genuinely why were harry & louis all of a sudden besties in a way we hadn't seen in years? there was that theory abt them being promised a coming out and that was plausible at the time and even a Little bit in hindsight but maybe not. or it could be bc they were trying to divert attention fom zayn's departure and they had to do something to keep the fans happy & afloat, a very large chunk of whom at the time consisted of larries. who knows man. we will never find out what actually happened and none of it will really make a lot of sense. soooo much drama and over a boyband!
tldr i think louis' anger was borne of love bc zayn was his closest friend in the band and he didnt rlly know how to handle the departure

[ intro ] — wc. 1.1k
Shit. You can’t help the frustration welling up in your chest. It was dark, rainy, and above all else, you were exhausted. As if matters couldn’t get worse, your chauffeur had been called in to assist the chairman, your father, with other business partners – effectively leaving you stranded outside the hospital’s back entrance. Calm down, Y/N, you tell yourself, taking a deep breath to quiet your tired irritation.
You had been called to the hospital to monitor a board meeting while your father was attending a private convention hosted by a sister hospital. Usually, your duties were more prevalent by title than actual business ministrants, but there was little room for arguing when you knew you had the credentials to be deemed an appropriate substitute.
While you appreciated the medical field and all the professionals within their respective departments, medicine was not your passion. Despite this, your family deemed it vital that you attend a prestigious university and earn highest marks towards degrees in Public Health, Biochemistry, and —eventually—Doctor of Medicine. You do well enough in your studies, ranking within the top 10 of your class, but it felt listless, a secondhand dedication.
You clutch the handle of your umbrella tighter as a cold gust tunnels through the channel of highrise buildings. Fuck, if you knew you’d be stranded you would have just called a cab, but you knew your chances of getting one as the evening rush loomed into fullswing were next to none. Grumbling under your breath, you smooth the front of your dress’ skirt down, ignoring the chill seeping into your skin.
Just as you were about to count your losses and spend the next hour futilely waiting for an open taxi, you hear soft, measured steps coming from behind you.
“Are you waiting for someone, Miss L/N?”
Dr. Zayne. You immediately recognize him – how could you not? He’s one of the hospital’s most accomplished, not to mention most attractive, doctors. You’ve had a handful of professional conversations with him, though they seldom lasted more than three turns of pleasant respects. You usually sought to avoid the doctor, despite his calm and, albeit standoffish, demeanor. You told yourself it was simply because you had no desire to exchange faux pleasantries, but a small truth lay in the fact you were bashful around him, embarrassingly so.
The independent, educated, prodigal daughter of the Asko chairman, reduced to a blushing mess because of the mere presence of a handsome doctor? The thought had you chewing on the inside of your cheek as you quietly mutter, “Good evening, Dr. Zayne.” You want to cringe with how nervous your voice sounds, you hope he blames it on the chilling rain. “And no, I’m afraid my driver is busy attending to another assignment.”
You finally risk a gauging glance at him under his own black umbrella, noting the hint of dark circles under his lashes. Something small pangs in your chest. Pushing it aside, you give him a small bow, a polite smile on your face. “I should go to the main entrance, please excuse me.”
His smooth voice stops you from bolting to the door. “Are you planning to take a cab home, then?”
You blink up at him, head tilting ever so slightly, brows gently pinched together, “Well, yes, that appears to be my only option..” And you swear you see the corners of his mouth twitch, just the ghost of a shift.
“I’ll give you a ride, don’t worry.”
You hate it, the way heat immediately creeps to your face. You shouldn’t be blushing like some high school girl in front of her crush, you’re an adult, dammit. And besides, it’s just a friendly offer, right? Just a colleague helping out a coworker. Right? So why was your face so red?
“Hm?” you try to catch your faltering expression, mustering an air of professional courtesy. “Oh, that’s okay, you don’t have to-”
“It’d be rude to leave a young woman by herself in a time of need.” You swear you feel every ounce of feminism leaving your body as he steps off the curb of the sidewalk, offering you his hand. “Besides, you’ll catch a cold if you stay out in this weather for much longer.”
With that, you wordlessly accept his hand, carefully stepping down to make sure your heels don’t trip you. He releases your hand once you’re on steady feet, and you follow behind him as he leads you to the hospital’s underground garage. The rain that was drizzling atop your umbrellas quiets as you stare at his back. Broad shoulders are visible even under his suit jacket, and it has you wondering what other secrets are hiding under the surface of the private doctor.
Your wandering thoughts are cut off when you make it to his car. You offer a quiet murmur of thanks as he holds the passenger door open for you. You take the five seconds it takes for him to round the car to quell your rapid heartbeat, praying he doesn’t notice the tension in your hands.
“You live near the park in District 19, right?”
You nod, marginally surprised he remembers that small detail. “Yes, on the eastern side of the city.”
Zayne lets out a small hum of acknowledgment before adjusting the dials on the console, a soft waft of heat alleviating the cold from your skin.
The drive is mostly silent aside from the subdued sounds of the radio. Luckily, your apartment isn’t too far of a drive, but being confined to a shared space with Zayne for 20 minutes made your nerves alight with restlessness.
The car rolls to a stop at a red light, the fluorescents of passing buildings reflected off the wet streets, casting an incandescent smear of color on the windshield. Your hands absentmindedly fidget in your lap, your teeth gently chewing on your lower lip.
“Thank you again, Dr. Zayne,” you finally manage to speak. “I truly appreciate your kindness.”
The surgeon gives a small dip of his chin, his hands skimming over the steering wheel as he pulls into a parking spot in front of your building. “It was no trouble at all, I’m happy to have been of help.”
And that was that. Just a cordial, professional favor between two associates. You just couldn’t figure out why, as you stood in the vacant elevator to your apartment, your heart felt like it was going to ricochet off your ribs and out of your chest.
