2022 Duggar Predictions Review

Michelle has been pretty quiet this year but the reason for this doesn't seem to have been leaked. Unfortunately no holiday to the clink for Jim Bob.

Thankfully Josh was sentenced to 12 years in jail with all appeals so far rejected. Anna has been very quiet, apart from hinting that there is more to the story (there isn't).

Another quiet year and no courtship for Jana.

We did get a pregnancy announcement (in late Spring, not summer), the baby was indeed a boy and Charlie arrived in September. There have been more trips this year to 'help' people around the world, including Ukraine.

Jill and Derick welcomed a baby boy, Frederick in July. Thankfully I was right and they opted for a planned c-section. Jill has been seen with the family but I don't think it's been at the TTH. Derick passed the bar and is now an attorney in Oklahoma and Arkansas. There haven't been hints of changing views as of yet but hopefully soon. No signs of starting school either but I think they will enrol the boys when they find the perfect school.

No dog and no pregnancy announcement. Lots of speculation though, especially recently.

They are releasing another book, Becoming Free Indeed, in January. Jinger and Jeremy are also moved house, albeit still in LA. No pregnancy announcement. Jeremy Vuolo is still Jeremy Vuolo's biggest fan. No trip to Arkansas but various family members have been to see them.

No pregnancy announcement as pretty much all Duggars are staying out of the limelight. Joe and Kendra did welcome another baby this year, confirmed through fine tuned snarking skills, and it's looking increasingly likely that it's a boy. No house move as far as we know.

Josiah and Lauren did welcome their second child, a girl named Daisy. It was confirmed through the church's Facebook page. Daisy is estimated to have been born in March.

I was off - but only by a few months. Joy is pregnant with her third child, a boy and due in May.

Indeed we did have the sex reveal in January. Baby Truett was born in May. Katey is currently pregnant with her second child, a girl named Nora Kate, and due in May. No attempts at politics. I guess it isn't the right time after recent events.

We still don't have confirmation on when they got engaged but they announced they were on 6th January. They married on 26th March, eight days before Jed and Katey's first anniversary. They didn't leave Arkansas and live in an RV. They are expecting to welcome their baby girl any day now.

It's been pretty quiet from everyone else, although whispers about courtships have circled.

From Jana and Stephen's Wedding Venue?

It’s Derek’s wedding day!

The Landgraabs rented out the biggest megachurch in Tartosa for the occasion, since both families are pretty large.

Here are the families and the guests settling in for the ceremony!

Bo, as Derek’s best man, was the first to walk down the aisle.

Then came Mary-Faith and Geoffrey, who was tearing up. Mary-Faith is his eldest daughter, so this is the first time he’s had to give a daughter away at the wedding altar. Such a blessed moment!

Then, finally, the vows.

Of course both of them saved their first kiss for the wedding altar, so they ended up bumping foreheads when they went in for the kiss. Aren’t they adorable?

At the cake cutting, Derek tried to do a flip with the knife and wound up giving himself a small cut. Mary-Faith is getting a crash course in the ‘exasperated wife’ department!

In a delightful moment of comedy, Derek shoved wedding cake into Mary-Faith’s face. He’s such a jokester.

Then the first dance. Don’t they look so precious together?

After their honeymoon in Tartosa, Derek and Mary-Faith will be moving into a lovely house near the Landgraabs in Oasis Springs. One day Derek will inherit our family home. Johnathan and I are so proud of our son and eagerly look forward to his season of married life.

Congratulations are in order!

Lotanna and Tori got married at Old New Henford Baptist. Lotanna had his own cottage built not far from the church using money saved from his landscaping business. Tori’s also helping out their income with her work as a Smexus ambassador. All of my siblings were at the wedding, except Onyinye, Adaeze and Chidi, which I definitely expected. It was a beautiful wedding nonetheless!

She said yes to the dress! My mum, sisters, cousin macie, and I travelled to be there for Celeste's final dress choosing. She was between 3 options and wanted us all to be there as she made the final choice between the 3. The dress she ended up choosing looks absolutely beautiful and if she looks beautiful in it now, she's going to be absolutely gorgeous when she's all done up for her wedding day. She found her dress in a cute boutique in between Northbury and Britechester whilst on a visit to Reid and his family, and because of where the shop is we were able to visit with Reid and his family while we were in the area.

Celeste is the last of the sisters to get married, so we all got together for the final time that we're going to have this moment as sisters. We all joked (and got a bit teary eyed) that the next time we do this with any close families it'll be us with our daughters! It's cool to see how the wedding trends have changed over the years, I got married in the summer 10 years ago, Kristyn got married in the spring almost 4 years ago, Sabrina got married in the autumn 2 years ago, and now Celeste is getting married in the winter. She's chosen Macie and I as her maid and matron of honour, and it's such an honour to be there for her and stand by her side as my little sister marries the man of her dreams.

Celeste's future mother-in-law, Beatrice, is such a wonderful woman! It's a blessing to have a good relationship with your mother in law, and we thank the Lord for them! According to Celeste, our mum would randomly get emotional at the thought of going to see Celeste in her wedding dress for the first time, and when we saw her in the dress we all immediately understood! Not long now until she's changing her last name!

Your Guide to Catholic Weddings

Y’all, I love a good wedding. In recognition of this fact, I thought we’d take a break from the heavier stuff and peek into the future. You may recognize some brides and bridesmaids, but no spoilers—you won’t see who they’re marrying.

Also, I’m writing from a US perspective. There are Catholics around the globe, so in reality there’s much, much more variation than you’ll see here. But this post reflects my experience as someone who’s experienced Catholic culture in multiple parts of the US.

All right—let’s take a walk down the aisle!

The Traditionalist Catholic Wedding

Format: A simple marriage ceremony followed by a full Latin Mass. One popular tradition at the end of the Mass is for the bride to place her bouquet in front of a statue of the Virgin Mary and spend a few moments in prayer.

Attire: For the bride and bridal party, shoulders and upper arms MUST be covered. Wraps or cardigans may be used to accomplish this if a suitable dress can’t be purchased off the rack (particularly for bridesmaids). Head coverings are required for women, and accordingly, elaborate bridal veils are common.

Music: The Mass itself is usually chanted. For the processional, popular choices include Charpentier’s “Te Deum”, Parry’s “I Was Glad,” and various hymns to Mary. There’s also “O God Beyond All Praising,” one of the very few post-1960 hymns deemed acceptable to traditionalist Catholics.

Fun fact: The Catholic Church actively discourages the bride being walked down the aisle by her father, saying that it’s a relic of a time when women were treated as property. In the US it’s permitted as a matter of “local custom,” but many traditional Catholic brides opt to walk with both parents or with their soon-to-be spouse.

The Standard Issue Catholic Wedding

Format: A brief wedding ceremony inserted into a typical Catholic Mass.

Attire: A little more modest than a non-Catholic wedding, but you can get away with bare shoulders, depending on the priest. Veils are treated as a fashion choice rather than a required covering.

Music: Recorded music and secular songs (except for some classical pieces) are strictly prohibited, but within that parameter, choices vary widely depending on the couple’s preferences and the abilities of the musicians. Popular choices for the processional are “Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring,” “Canon in D,” Clarke’s “Trumpet Voluntary,” and various works by Handel.

Fun fact: It's customary to invite the priest to the reception (where copious amounts of alcohol will be served—Jesus turned water to wine at a wedding, after all!). At the most recent wedding I attended, the priest was last seen donning a purple cowboy hat and joining a conga line.

The "Oops, I Married a Protestant" Wedding

Format: Similar to a standard Catholic wedding, but you only get the first half of the Mass: the Liturgy of the Word, aka Bible readings. Also a few prayers, most notably the Lord's Prayer.

Attire: Same as the standard Catholic wedding.

Music: Similar to a standard Catholic wedding, but priests are generally more agreeable to including Protestant hymns when one party is, in fact, a Protestant.

Fun fact: The Church has no issues with a Catholic and a Protestant having a full Mass for their wedding, but somebody will have to tell Grandma that she can't take communion in a Catholic church even though she's been doing it in her own church for 80 years. You may also have to endure complaints from Protestant relatives regarding the "Catholic calisthenics" - sit down, stand up, kneel, stand up...

The Catholic Beach Wedding

Format: Catholic weddings MUST take place in a church. This can present a problem if your heart is set on a beach wedding. But if you have the money and the logistical know-how, there’s a solution: Find a Catholic church located near the ocean and have your wedding there.

Attire: Ranges from traditional to modern, but generally on the loose, flowing side due to the beach setting. Also, expensive—if you have the funds for a destination wedding, there’s generally money to burn on a gown.

Music: You have two choices: take your chances on the local musicians, or fly in the musicians of your choice (provided that the hosting church will even allow that). Aren’t logistics fun?!?

Fun fact: Because most priests are reluctant to perform weddings for people they don’t know, Catholic beach weddings are usually BYOP—Bring Your Own Priest. Given the massive amount of paperwork that is required to perform a wedding outside your home diocese, the poor guy will probably need a beach vacation after everything you’ve put him through.

2022 Bates Predictions Review

No baby for 2022. The house is looking great though.

Unfortunately no baby this year. They have been promoting their business a lot but it doesn't seem like Michael has been allowed to get a job so she can use her degree.

Erin hasn't really commented on her ovaries this year but thankfully Finley was born healthy. I was wrong about the house as they've moved to Florida.

Lawson and Tiffany married in May. No attendance from Bindi but yes I'd say it was over the top compared to some of the other weddings.

Nathan and Esther announced their pregnancy on Mother's Day and their daughter Kenna Joy was born in October, which is pretty much the end of the year.

I was wrong about the pregnancy announcement but right about them adding to the family in the next few years. I knew Maci wasn't their final child.

Tori was indeed pregnant when I wrote my predictions. She and Bobby welcomed Cambree (no K name) in August.

Trace and Lydia got engaged quicker than I was expecting with their engagement in March and wedding in October.

Turns out Layla unfortunately wasn't the only one experiencing health issues this year. Zade was born in mid March, they moved house but kept Izzy.

No pregnancy announcement for these two.

Katie did struggle with being away from her family and there were a lot of trips to see her in New Jersey. Baby #1 was announced in August and Hailey James is due in March.

Jackson didn't join the police and instead got himself a girlfriend. Kelly sadly lost her mom. It was a fairly quiet year for everyone else.
