my fibro meds have truly destroyed my tolerance for antihistamines
#blue chatter#my nose has been v stuffy this week!#I take a Benadryl (already a bad idea) expecting mild spiders and feeling a bit sleepy#and Pass The Fuck Out for 7 hours#okay cool. I’ll do Claritin. it’ll take longer to work but that’s okay-#Pass The Fuck Out For 7 Hours#okay. sure. fine. I’ll take half a Benadryl; it’ll work less effectively but I rly would like to not be so stuffy-#guess what! Pass The Fuck Out For 5 Hours!#which is. teeeeechnically shorter. but still defeats the point#I’m gonna try half a Claritin but those pills are so small already#I know my gabapentin has warnings about anything with drowsiness as a side effect so I tried to do rly low doses#bc it also has those warnings for alcohol and I can drink one drink and feel like. just a tiny bit tired and otherwise fine.#so I thought an antihistamine would be no issue. I was WRONG.#also for context before my fibro meds I was able to take a 24 hour Claritin and be barely even tired#or take 2 Benadryl and feel sleepy and spidery but not actually *fall asleep about it*.#the spiders are unpleasant but Benadryl does work faster for existing stuffiness/allergic reactions. Claritin for me works better as a#preventative measure than a treatment once I’m already sniffly.#by spiders I do mean tactile hallucinations. which funnily enough I have not gotten at all taking Benadryl now.#BECAUSE IM ASLEEP#not awake enough long enough to feel imaginary spiders! which would be an improvement except I cannot keep falling asleep when I’m busy!#this is also why I’ve only been testing this on days I know I won’t have to drive or go to class/have things due that day#bc I suspected the sleepies would be worse even if I did not understand the magnitude#as a side effect I’ve now ruined my sleep schedule enough that my body is used to taking a midday nap and expects it#which is Not Helping

My Neurologist wants to increase my Gabapentin further. He wants me to take 600mg 2x daily. They also said that I do not have small fiber neuropathy so I asked what else could be causing this burning in my hands when I touch something cold (even for a few seconds - something like a cold can; ice is noticeably worse). It happens with hot things as well but not to the same extent. As well as the uncontrollable movements in my fingers that's like stimming (could be stimming - though I'm undiagnosed with autism) made worse when overwhelmed. I spoke with his nurse and she said she'll get back with him/me.
They're increasing my Gabapentin because I'm having seizures multiple times a day for over a week now. 😕 So hopefully this increase in medication will help that. It's not very pleasant.
I'm glad I do not have small fiber neuropathy though!
As an aside, I think I had the longest seizure of my life yesterday. It lasted for a few minutes and felt like… you know when you go down on an elevator/rollercoaster? That feeling you get? Well it was that but full body and especially in the brain. It came in waves. All I was doing was washing my hands too. It can happen when I'm sitting down doing nothing but I noticed that it's more frequent with something like washing my hands. 😮
Having seizures, especially multiple times a day, is really exhausting. And I'm not sure if it's worse or not to be fully aware when it's happening (I'm aware when mine happens). But I will say that it's a little scary either way.

The Side Effects of Gabapentin
Gabapentin is often prescribed for conditions like nerve pain, seizures, and anxiety, but like any medication, it comes with potential side effects that users should be mindful of. Common side effects include dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, and difficulty with coordination, which can affect your daily functioning. In some cases, gabapentin can also cause more serious reactions such as mood swings, depression, anxiety, or thoughts of self-harm, particularly when taken alongside other medications or alcohol.
Additionally, there is a risk of respiratory depression, especially in individuals with pre-existing respiratory conditions or those misusing the medication. It’s important to communicate openly with your healthcare provider about any other medications or substances you’re taking to minimize the risks of adverse interactions.
At Legacy Healing Center, we understand the complexities of medication management and provide personalized care to ensure your treatment plan supports your overall well-being.

Roland had an accident last night, which is really unusual for him, since he’s infamous for holding it for ages if it happens to be raining. I’m hoping it’s just the stress of the last two weeks of being in pain and that hopefully it’s a one time fluke

Replies to @/pir8core :
I talked to my doctor about it and I’ve been adjusting from taking it daily to either taking it when needed. So currently I would only take it when my numbness affected me, so probably only every once in 3-4 days.
Replies to @/babybluewings38 :
Currently adviced by doctor to take it super early like around 5-6pm ! So if I crash for like 12hrs I would be able to wake up by 6am to get ready to go to work by 7am. So far I’ve only taken during weekends.
Replies to @/faustxs :
It’s actually Gabapentin 300mg! It’s also used to treat epilepsy but I’m taking it for my nerve pain, mainly related to my hemiplegic migraine.
got prescribed nerve pain medication with side effect that could knock me out for hours, leaving me drowsy for the whole day
but if I don’t take it (because I still have to go to work and drive!) I have to deal with numbness and tingling pain
this game is rigged :)

to be honest voltage gated calcium ions do osscilate to release magnesium in the VTA (ventral tegmntal area), magnesium is then transposed to cascade dopamingeric, gabageric and glutamatergic system, this happens in a 2:1 ratio, ok? the breakdown of ethanol creates aldehydes because of our evolutionary entanglement with the rotting of fruit, we only know of like maybe 6 mammal lineages that have this relationship to ethanols, this causes the ethanol molecule to be cleared from gabageric receptors (and a handful of other less pertinent receptors) pretty rapidly compared to other gaba shaped friends. iles the alcohol (and likely the aldehydes) changes the cellular chemistry and suppresses the livers ability to reuptake circulating magnesium, this can lead you to have diahreeha after drinking, the magnesium salts are expelled and through reverse osmosis water is pulled into your guts lalalalaa third wave farming technology and dwindling soil nutrients lead to bigger vegetables with less of the chemicals in them that you yummy need inside you, probably atleast 75% of americans deficient in magnesium due to diet = depression and fatiqued workers of the counter, magnesium oxide is the most common form of magnesium sold, it has a bioavailability of less than 1% and goes straight into your guts in the same manner as previously stated, glycinate bonded magnesium, this is the best choice, maybe other forms can help you too but glycinate is the most effective with the least side effects, a max bio availability mix can be good, if you get headaches from taking magnesium it probably means your other electrolytic levels are lown and the magnesium is competing with your potasium and sodium levels, drink a little bit of pickle juice every day it will love you, listen to me, im crazy and rambling but if you take any drugs, alcohol, adderall, meth, weed, gabapentin, benzodiazapines, those are eating out your magnesium levels to produce their effect and the diet of your environment is not replacing that, you cna also eat lots of nuts and avacados and other fatty protein stuff but farming problems lol take the magnesium pill, take the fucking magnesium pill, take the right one, dont just buy the thing you find at the grocery store, its probably the kind thatll pass right through you, great if you are constipated, but not much else, research magnesium immediately, magnesium supplementation more effective than SSRIs, are you depressed? tired? TAKE THE MAGNESIUM PILL, the right one lalalalalaa

Hey darlings, I saw my surgeon today.... and now its the thinking game... so to speak, he gave me a different medication to hopefully help with the pain, Gabapentin... So now I know its something used for the gyn stuff, but at least Im no with puff the magic dragon...
Now here is the thinking part, and if anyone has experience with a total hysterectomy or no longer has ovaries I would love your advice
He wants to see if there are any other things to help manage the pain. Maybe my bladder is causing issues? He wants to double check.... like the change of medication and some physical therapy, this would be in fact my third surgery for endometriosis.
His concern was that since im still young, removing both ovaries to try and see if that helps with the endometriosis is risky.
The side effects of taking both ovaries terrify me. Ive known about them, but it finally hit me like a ton of bricks, I am already in risk of bone and heart problems due to my Hashimoto's disease, I know that. ... But now Im scared if I take away the ovaries that that will double....
Im absolutely terrified and Ive cried a few tooo many times today.
I thought about just removing my damaged ovary, but that doesn't really guarantee the endometriosis coming back. Even if I end up with a yearly surgery ... anyhow
I am open to advice and suggestions

She did get to cuddle in bed all night because of it though so I'm sure she thinks of that as a net positive. She's currently sitting outside the bathroom while my downstairs roommate showers meowing up a storm though so I think she's okay. That's normal Mouse behavior. She wants to lick his shower water off the shower floor and walls.
Poor miss Mouse can't have gabapentin unless she's showing visible signs of pain now, she got bad ataxia from it and was so sedated that she didn't even meow for like 8 hours. She's still a little wobbly today, but otherwise recovered from the med side effects.

Got a new medication last week and it's scary how much better I feel.
I'm diagnosed with fibromyalgia and have been on morphine for years now. My doctor have been very resistant on giving me epilepsy medication for it because "[I'm] so young and there's side effects" (mind you she put me on chemo for a while for my arthritis.) only once I went to a pain clinic and they recommend the new meds did she agree to it.
Anyway, I'm on week 2 on gabapentin and I'm already feeling better than I have in years. It's supposed to take a couple of months so I'm weary for it to just be placebo but if it is working... If I'm actually getting better and can have a life again.. fuck this is scary.
I've been in constant, agonizing pain since 2019. I'm scared of how my life will be without the pain. I'm also terrified that the beds aren't actually working and I'm gonna slide right back into the pain.
I'm also pissed that if they do work, my doctor cept the right meds from me because I'm 'young'

So I had my doctor’s appointment today and I am pretty happy with the outcome.
My doctor diagnosed my joint pain as fibromyalgia based on the lack of results from other avenues and the fact that anti inflammatory medications don’t have any effect on me.
She also did this weird thing where she poked on me in places that are apparently sensitive to those with fibromyalgia and lo and behold - they hurt.
She’s having me swap out my current antidepressants for a new one known to help with fibro pain because I can’t take medications like gabapentin due to previous side effects I had taking it a long time ago.
I am trying not to feel too hopeful that this medication will help because I don’t want to be let down, but I still have a little bit of hope it will. While there’s no excitement in being diagnosed with another pain condition - it’s really nice having a clear answer as to why I’ve been having this pain.
If anyone has suggestions on ways to help fibromyalgia I am all ears :)

My favorite thing about drugs is when your side effects are things the drug is supposed to treat, and so the only results in search engines you get of other people also experiencing them is Reddit.
Tl;dr, I took my last fucking Gabapentin last night. Smallest dose Gaba, btw. They prescribe this amount to cats. And maybe the issue was I took it "early", because I had to wake up at 4am for work, but good goddamn.
Normally, I take one, go to bed, sleep through the night no problem. Wake up a few times to pee but it's fine.
Last night? Woke up two hours later to pee and discovered my neck felt like it was on fire in the same way too much menthol can make your skin feel like it was on fire. And I have neck issues, some nerve compression somewhere, so that sensation? Not Good for my anxiety. So I spent like 15 minutes getting anxious because My Neck and tried to calm down and go back to sleep.
El-Oh-El.
Now anxious, the Gabapentin, designed to treat nerve pain, anxiety, nightmare disorders, blah blah, proceeds to make my dreams hella convincing nightmares about horrible medical events. That require hospital trips. Like, my fingers that suffer from the nerve entrapment now are blue and that's Bad and off you go to the ER, then you wake up like, "Jesus Christ," and go back to sleep only to run into another stupid medical nightmare, only this time, you "wake up" from it into another one.
I did that like 4 goddamn times. For seven hours. I feel like I got no sleep. Neck doesn't feel like it's burning no more, yay, but like.
Why the FUCK does taking the drug "too soon" for your sleep schedule result in either 1) the type of sleep where you never enter REM properly and can hear everything going on around you, or 2) ~Anxiety-induced Nightmare Land~?

Well you see they vibrate and if you put them on sensitive body parts they feel absolutely divine.
If you're feeling a little kinky, they can even be inserted into specific orifices to enhance that feeling, though you should absolutely never put one without a flared base in your asshole, and dont use the same one for your asshole and vagina (if you have one)
Have you girlies heard about these new things called vibrators?
Absolutely life changing they are
