That scene broken something inside Gallavich Nation...we were used to suffering but that scene was our last straw...
And the stupid ending with Sammy aiming a gun towards Mickey 🤦♀️ like Mickey would end her in 2 seconds, he always had a gun on him but noooo, let's make it a "comedy" scene with him running away from a rain of bullets 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
shameless writers knew what they were doing to us when they introduced caleb. You can't tell me they didnt.
A, one of the best known and loved scenes of gallavich was them drunk walking home and singing love is a battlefield. Right before Ian got taken, the two of them were planning on going on an actual date. Like a fist actual date, since both of their other relationships had been with either woman or middle aged men.
B, they knew everyone would notice that caleb literally took Ian's first official date. that broke me in general. but,
C, during said date, Ian began to tell Caleb how Mickey's idea of a date was to punch him then fuck. This was basically a punch to the stomach to all gallavich fans, and i'm convinced that was exactly what the writers were going for.
Because Ian could have 1.) had experience with dates if sammi didnt call the cops. 2.) not have had met caleb if sammi didnt call the cops. 3.) still been with mickey if sammi didn't call the cops.
Therefore, everything I just talked about is completely Sammi's fault and the mental hospital is now rightfully her home.
i think that we didn’t get enough information on mickey’s arrest.
i mean, we literally didn’t, they didn’t confirm that he and sammi had both been arrested until the recap in 6x01- so they literally chose not to add the footage in 5x12. but i think that there’s more to the lack of information than just not seeing him handcuffed.
why did sammi know that mickey had tried to kill her, but not debbie? could sammi hear them plotting? i could see her coming after debbie more than i could see her coming after mickey, even if she did despise him. she knew debbie was more valuable to the gallagher’s (no hate to mickey, but fiona and lip weren’t too fond of him), so if she did hear, i could see her plotting against debbie. and in 10x08, we do hear terry talk about how no matter what, people are always going to assume it was a milkovich even if it wasn’t, so it’s likely that she just pointed it on mickey and they went with it. however, sammi and multiple other people would be able to confirm that mickey, debbie, and liam were home at the time (not like anybody would suspect liam of the crime, but regardless). i could see mickey, fiona, and sean all lying and saying that debbie wasn’t there, but i don’t know. i think that they’d still interview her, and maybe she’d use her lying skills from aunt ginger, cousin patrick, and the pregnancy she was then hiding, but maybe she would be bad at it. that’s the thing, we don’t know.
but fiona had to have known, right? all of this talk about torturing sammi, debbie basically confirming that she and mickey were going to go torture sammi, and then a week or so later sammi shows up claiming that mickey tried to kill her? how could she have not known? did ian ever find out? i feel like season 6 ian would be upset, but also tranquil (trying to hide that he still cares, as we see in 6x01), however, i could see season 11 ian being upset if he hadn’t known until just then.
also, mickey was originally set to be released in 2023 with good behavior. who knows what sammi’s sentance was, but knowing her, she probably didn’t have good behavior. i could see her seducing someone to get out, though, just like mickey. i honestly don’t think she’s currently in prison and i wish that they had visited the storyline again because maybe she was even out in season 11.
and i know that the real answer as to why we didn’t get a lot of info on what happened to mickey, sammi, and debbie was because noel wasn’t being paid enough and he wanted out. still, it’s something in the storyline and shameless struggles with writing characters off/finishing storylines, making it so that the fandom ends up explaining it better than they do.
Time for Gallavich wedding headcanons:
1. Besides edible boxers from Carl and the honeymoon Car from Liam, what wedding gifts do they get?
2. What flavor was their wedding cake?
3. How the fuck do they have 120 guests at the wedding? Who are they inviting? (only to claim they have no friends a season later?)
4. Why did Ian say Mickey and not Mikhailo?
5. What's one thing in the wedding that way important to Ian? (Chiavari chairs level important)
Good Saturday morning to you my lovely @gallavich-headcanon 🌹🦋
*sharpens claws, opens dictation app*
Let's go...
1) Sandy convinces Debbie to weld them a custom set of manacles (leather cuffs, with the kind of chains you'd use to tie down a junkyard dog). It's accompanied with a greeting card handmade by Franny.
Lip gives them a gift card to something stupid like McDonald's in front of everyone, but then in private hands them an obnoxiously sweet 5-page letter wishing them all the best.
Tami promises them haircuts forever.
Frank promises not to throw up all over their wedding shoes.
2) Ok, call me old-fashioned, but I'm a sucker for a properly executed sponge cake that has an amazing filling & is topped with a perfectly paired icing. So, they go with two flavors. 'Cause why the fuck not?
Half the cake is a white sponge with a chocolate ganache and a white almondine frosting.
The other half is the same white sponge with a raspberry filling and a white frosting that has a hint of citrus in it.
3) I literally have no idea how in the hell they got 120 guests at their wedding. I imagine some of them could be former prison buddies. Maybe one or two from the club. Maybe Mickey used to roll with some of them back when he would do runs or shady shit? And it could be entirely possible that the guest list simply grew completely out of hand 'cause Mickey, in his "fuck you, Terry" giddiness told all of his guests to bring as many +1s as they wanted.
And the fact that they ended up with zero friends at the beginning of S11 could just be pandemic rules. Me, personally, I ended sloughing off a few people from my life during the pandemic. But, conversely, I ended up adding a bunch of new people to my circle. 🤷🏻♀️ Who knows. It's Shameless, best not to think about it. 🙃
4) OooOoo, THIS is the question I was hoping and praying you would ask me!
That wedding vow, whisperer-sigh Mickey™ we get?
Mmm, mmm, mmm. It's my headcanon that Ian has been saying Mickey's name just like that since all the way in S5.
Don't believe me? Look:
As you said, he goes from "Mick" to "Mickey" on his phone's caller ID in 5.11 —a highly emotional episode. And I'm damn skippy every time that his phone lights up in that episode, Ian says Mickey™ all soft and whispery both out loud & in his head.
In fact, I totally think that he says Mickey™ just like that at any & every highly emotional moment.
Hence, no Mikhailo at the wedding.
5) Ian 100% refuses to have "Living On a Prayer" as a wedding song. If you ask him, that would be the most tragic entrance song for the otherwise beautifully-planned wedding his fiancé willed into existence. From the very first moment that Mickey suggested it, Ian knows he hates that song.
Not in general, just as a wedding march.
But he can't tell Mickey that. Not with the way Grumpypants has been stopping around breaking shit. So, Ian bides his time, looks for his in... finally, an opportunity.
The rest, so the cliché goes, is canon history.

Have a lovely weekend. Always fun to hear from you. 🥰
Hey Macy 💗 if you could fix one thing about Gallavich in canon, what would it be?
hello darling anon xx, so lovely to have you back in my inbox! 💌
i’ll be the first person to admit i have many grievances with canon. not so much with their characteristics or anything like that but more about the situations the writers put them in and how they were handled. there’s a lot i would change but i think my biggest grievance is the 5x12 breakup scene, and here’s why.
i know why they did what they did. i know why the writers decided to have them break up in the wake of noel leaving the show. it probably made logical sense to the writers at the time but i don’t think it was the best decision they could have made. there were so many other directions they could have gone with this storyline. what if sammi never showed up? after all, there wasn’t a single good reason to bring her back for that last scene. what if they had more time? what if mickey had been able to reassure ian that he was right, he isn’t broken, and he’ll love him through it all? because we know that boy loves ian for everything he is, exactly as he is. what if ian had more time to explain himself, to get the big emotions out in his speech and then have a moment to regroup? what if they [audience gasps] had a chance to talk it out? what if it wasn’t a unilateral decision? maybe we could have been given a more satisfying conclusion to their story, even if it did end in a breakup.
what would i have selfishly wanted to see? i want my The Notebook “it still isn’t over” moment. i want mickey to grab ian by the arm and spin him around and kiss him. i want him to hold his face and wipe his tears and tell him that no, he’s not broken. he doesn’t need to be fixed. he’s IAN, through and through, and always has been. and he’ll love him despite it all. i want an honest declaration of love, a fucking conversation, a kiss that shifts the earth on its axis. THAT’S what i want. that’s what i need. but that’s what fix-it fics are for, right? 😉
I doing a rewatch and its not only just what they did with Caleb that hurts, it's also with Trevor.
I've seen so many parallels to Mickey. Like Ian going to Caleb because he "needed" someone . The way young Ian went to Mickey.
The writers suck . But they also sucked at creating new romance for Ian. Because everything felt like Mickey was the blueprint, the original. Anything that Ian did with them was subpar and forced compared to when he originally did it with Mickey.
He wanted to go on a date with Mickey.
He went to Mickey when he needed someone.
Mickey cared about him so much deeper than anyone else.
Mickey understood Ian.
Ian could be himself with Mickey. Some times he felt out of place with Caleb and Trevor.
And it's funny that Ian judged Mickey so much when he himself wasn't much different. He fought people just as easy and got mad just as easy and was just as socially inept some times .
Etc.
You know whats also funny? Mickey was the ONLY one that cared to give Ian his pills himself. I think I remember Trevor just asking, "Are you taking your meds?" I dont know about you but the person I'd have chosen was Mickey, the one who cared the most. Oh, and, personally, I think none of Ian's other 'love interests' were funny. Mickey had the better humor out of all of them.
Trevor did nothing but involve HIMSELF into Ian's family life. And since he had different opinions on family (referencing to that Monica scene,) Ian probably felt stressed when he old Trevor about disconnecting with family or being mad at someone close to him. But Mickey, has a shittier family of his own, and knows how it feels to be degraded and abused by his OWN family. He wouldn't care, probably agree, say that family can be a bitch sometimes, etc.
Caleb was mostly okay before the cheating, its just, the unknowing of the past was beginning to break them apart in the first place. If it were Mickey, Ian would know tha Mickey would understand why he did what he did, and Mickey was there since the beginning, with a few prison exceptions, so he would need much 'explaining.'
Ian was used to Southside, so I don't think he was used to people who (I'm pretty sure) were from out of town. People with nicer families and better forgiving talents. And they don't understand him like he doesn't them.
Hi! As someone who started watching during S7 and saw your tags, I thought I’d give some perspective on what the fandom was like during that period 😂 For me personally, I lost most of my hope for Gallavich endgame after 7x11. The Mexico send off just seemed very final to me and that hope decreased even more when they announced they were bringing Trevor back in S8. (Luckily that relationship ended up having no depth but lmao). Most of us started hoping again for endgame after S8 when Cam announced he was leaving the show in early S9. We didn’t know if we’d actually see Mickey again but we were crossing our fingers that they’d write Ian off by sending him to Mexico for off-screen endgame. And then Mickey appeared in 9x06 and the fandom exploded.
Everything went into turmoil again later when Cam was announced to be coming back for S10 but Noel hadn’t been yet. (I guess they were still negotiating his contract?) We were afraid Ian would be let out of prison and Mickey would not, and that it would be S6 all over again. But then Shameless pulled a twitter stunt where they pretended a fan hacked their official twitter account to announce Mickey’s S10 return. (I suggest you look that incident up if you hadn’t heard of it. It was a pretty epic social media stunt). And it was all very wild lol.
Basically, this ship put me through the ringer. But I still probably had it easier than the people who watched 5x12 and 6x01 live 💀
First of all oh my god! This is all I wanted! I need to know how this felt.
Losing all hope for a gallavich end game was probably so fucking sad. Like, I know I only started watching shameless for them, and I guess for most people it wasn't the case, but still! The fucking heartbreak oh my god. I cried at 5x12 but I KNEW they got married, so I held it together. Y'all are strong as fuck.
WAIT WHAT MEDIA STUNT? I need more information!!! does anybody have screenshots? links? I need to see it all RIGHT NOW! I'm going to lose it!
I bet they were trying to really squeeze all the publicity they could get because bring back noel was a fandom demand as far as I heard. (obviously he wanted to be back too, but I heard the fandom fought for it to be possible)
Honestly I feel like I missed so much for joining so late (also with no hope for more content) but at least I didn't have my heart broken to piece a billion times. I mean, I did, but I knew it was temporary.
