Hi! As someone who started watching during S7 and saw your tags, I thought I’d give some perspective on what the fandom was like during that period 😂 For me personally, I lost most of my hope for Gallavich endgame after 7x11. The Mexico send off just seemed very final to me and that hope decreased even more when they announced they were bringing Trevor back in S8. (Luckily that relationship ended up having no depth but lmao). Most of us started hoping again for endgame after S8 when Cam announced he was leaving the show in early S9. We didn’t know if we’d actually see Mickey again but we were crossing our fingers that they’d write Ian off by sending him to Mexico for off-screen endgame. And then Mickey appeared in 9x06 and the fandom exploded.

Everything went into turmoil again later when Cam was announced to be coming back for S10 but Noel hadn’t been yet. (I guess they were still negotiating his contract?) We were afraid Ian would be let out of prison and Mickey would not, and that it would be S6 all over again. But then Shameless pulled a twitter stunt where they pretended a fan hacked their official twitter account to announce Mickey’s S10 return. (I suggest you look that incident up if you hadn’t heard of it. It was a pretty epic social media stunt). And it was all very wild lol.

Basically, this ship put me through the ringer. But I still probably had it easier than the people who watched 5x12 and 6x01 live 💀

First of all oh my god! This is all I wanted! I need to know how this felt.

Losing all hope for a gallavich end game was probably so fucking sad. Like, I know I only started watching shameless for them, and I guess for most people it wasn't the case, but still! The fucking heartbreak oh my god. I cried at 5x12 but I KNEW they got married, so I held it together. Y'all are strong as fuck.

I bet they were trying to really squeeze all the publicity they could get because bring back noel was a fandom demand as far as I heard. (obviously he wanted to be back too, but I heard the fandom fought for it to be possible)

Honestly I feel like I missed so much for joining so late (also with no hope for more content) but at least I didn't have my heart broken to piece a billion times. I mean, I did, but I knew it was temporary.

I see a lot of season 6 talk recently and tbh it's an interesting one because rewatching season 6 can be difficult. Because it actually is so hard to have to sit through the anti-mickey rhetoric that the writers were forcing, but watching Ian become an EMT and learn to accept his bipolar is so beautiful (Caleb can choke but like the rest of it).

I feel like people have this idea that if you criticise anything about season 6 then you hate all of it and you're completely writing off the whole thing, but I think both ideas can exist together tbh. Like i loved watching Ian become and EMT and come back to himself, but at the same time, I really had no interest in watching him in another relationship at that point tbh, it seemed like it was just too soon and they forced it simply because they wanted to make mickey a terrible villain. Which is painful to watch after they'd spent 5 seasons building a complex, flawed, loving, multi-faceted character only to minimise him to an abusive thug just because of a BTS issue with cast and showrunners. And it's okay to not like that imo.

But there is also a beautiful and important story about Ian finding himself again, and watching him accept his bipolar. Like the joy that scene where he talks about it with the rest of the EMT's gives me is insane it's sUCH beautiful scene.

Anyway what I'm saying is I don't think one opinion cancels out the other. I don't think voicing criticisms of mickey's characterisation or some of Ian's actions means that you're writing off the whole season, or that you're villainising Ian's whole character, or acting like mickey was perfect. In the same way that loving Ian's storyline doesn't mean that you have to agree with or even enjoy every part of the season. If you do then cool! There is a lot to love and defend about it. But it's okay that people don't like elements of it.

There are parts that are not nice to sit through as a Gallavich fan imo. And I think it's okay that a season that doesn't feature your favourite character isn't your favourite season. And it doesn't mean you're writing off the journey of self acceptance Ian goes through or that you're a bad fan or whatever. And it's okay if you loved the season because of that journey. I'll agree that there probably are some people who are extreme on both sides but I just don't think you have to be one or the other.

There are great parts to talk about but it's okay to talk about the flaws and the uncomfortable parts too.

hii, can i just share something that amuses me both with people who are cheering lou’s supposed ‘absence’ from set, as well as those who are seemingly already mourning bucktommy..

i used to be in the shameless (us) fandom and spent so much time (literal years at one point) trying to spot noel fisher (and at a few occasions also cameron monaghan) in bts pics or videos for any hopes of their characters either getting back together or remaining together, and one thing i realised is that so much bts material just does not get shared.. i was little else but making myself feel bad without any real reason and found that its just no use. (also fun fact people kept saying noel was never going to return, yet - spoiler alert - their characters were endgame wooop)

so whats funny to me is the fact that filming for 911 has only just begun, it hasnt even been that long yet, and yet so many conclusions as to the entire upcoming season have already been drawn?

(btw im not trying to make fun of anyone feeling however they’re feeling, im just saying let yourself have fun since we have absolutely no clue how s8 will pan out (lord knows tim does not know either atp lmfao) and we still have some time to go till the first ep actually airs)

I'm 100% with you on this. I was raised by Gallavich and Britin (brian and justin from queer as folk) and they taught me that we have no idea what's going to happen, so I'd rather just enjoy the ride.

I'll never tell anyone how they should feel, but I encourage people to have fun and don't worry before the episode airs. We got Buck eating Tommy's face in the middle of a hospital hallway, and we had no idea that was gonna happen from the bts.

maybe lou is gonna show up tomorrow, maybe he won't, but that means nothing until the whole season airs.

FIVE SONGS TO "KNOW" ME

I love going down a rabbit hole about Cam and Noel and thinking about what could have been between them.

But when I try to step in their shoes from like an actors perspective, I completed understand what Noel meant when he basically said it's easy switching from himself to Mickey because Cam makes it easy. Like how they already get along and are goofy with one another and when they get in to character, it's that but different. Cam looks at him different when in character. And I think it's amazing that they were able to figure out how to give 100% to their characters relationship because of it. You can even tell when there isn't 100% . I'm guessing when Cameron is hesitant with Noel. It also feels like Ian isn't being 100% either. Like cam is afraid to cross some lines. .

For example, (idk if this goes against popular opinion) but their reunion jail scene. Noel is very good and smooth with his delivery but cameron did give me slight hesitation with their improve of him laying on him and kissing him. Noel practically had to pull him down. It makes me wonder if it's because it had been years and Layla was also there... ) . But going in to the last season, it seemed like the hesitation chilled out. They clearly agreed no tongue (besides their last big make out session when he calls mickey a barbarian). And it felt comfortable again since they got to hang out on set and be friends again.

Jeez I rambled. What's your opinion?

My opinion is that to play Mickey, your entire heart, mind, and soul has to be fixated on Ian. And vice versa if you're stepping in to play Ian—your entire visceral being has to cry out to be with Mickey.

So when Noel and Cam get into character, you're seeing real love that their characters are feeling for each other. And when the cameras cut, you're seeing Noel and Cam's real life friendship, which was super playful and affectionate. Very easy to conflate the two.

I know what you mean about that prison kiss. It was Cam's last ever scene on Shameless (or so we thought), his last ever onscreen Gallavich kiss (as far as he knew), so why didn't he devour Noel's face, right? 🙃

It could've been the way the director wanted him to play that scene—be too awestruck by the moment, so that Mickey had to pull his face down, etc. Cam has said in interviews that it was improvised, but I've seen script pages that suggest it wasn't. So, I'm not sure what to make of it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

As for the no-tongue stuff in season 11, that was the unfortunate fallout of #metoo and Covid. Nothing was as raunchy anymore once they began using mandatory intimacy coordinators. Sucks for us, but I agree, we got a nice amout of BTS shenanigans, even if they were wearing masks for most of it. 😩

*Actually, I stand corrected. The jumping into bed thing was not improvised but the kiss was. At least on paper.

Atp I'm genuinely wondering whether I should just drop BTS and Jikook and just focus on JM, the only one who gives his everything for his work, not even an ounce jealous of anyone and is ready to give his own spotlight to his loved ones. While The negativity I feel from certain members towards him is so high. With JK too, he wasn't able to stay a bit more or visit Jimin during FACE era but got time to travel half world to see Tae. Ik jikookers like JK thus not calling out his bs and only dragging Tae for his double face. Jimin might love both of them so much so he might not be expressing this distaste but Jimin doesn't deserve this bro. When he'll find someone who'll genuinely be there for him whenever he needs him ? Atp the only one who has genuinely supported his all ventures is Jhope. They are the real soulmates of the group not the one assigned by Fandom.

I am so confused by your ask, anon. Is there a different JK other than the one I know? Which BTS do you mean? Because the one I know has member JK who has always put Jimin first. Always protected and defended him even when he didn't need it. Always been there for him.

Music is almost everything to Jimin the perfectionist and JK has always been there to help him. Be it a listening ear, or vocal lessons. Its literally INSANE to me when people like u come to me to denounce JK for something V did. JK who btw, has always corrected any misinformation thats been laid down by V. JK who purposely doesn't feed the vermin if he can help it.

As for not visiting Jimin's promotions a) they were short as hell. we even saw how shocked JK was to find that out during that Jimin live where he asked to come visit and Jimin informed him he was done. So you've conveniently forgotten that JK was asking to go see Jimin. b) Jimin went to live with Pdogg during the production of FACE. We have talked about this alot already but he did so to avoid distractions and I bet you his boyfriend would have been the biggest distraction of them all. So don't be blaming JK for a decision Jimin made. c) last but not least please stop conveniently forgetting just how much JK promoted and supported FACE. Something he never did for any other member.

U wanna stop supporting BTS and JK, you do you. But don't sit there and say JK doesn't care about Jimin or has never supported him because you would be lying.
