ALRIGHT!! I MADE A starter menu with currently just 1 button that leads to level 1 and i made code that if you touch an obstacle (like spikes and later on enemies!!) you will go to a very nice and motivating touchscreen i will make more comfy to look at then it is rn, it'l have a go back to menu option and a restart level option. the main menu will have another menu with all the levels layed out.i have no idea rn how i will make this idea work but i want it so that you can only click / pick a level if you have finished the level before, i'm thinking of a variable thats like var is_finished = false, and if you finish it gets set to true and the next level is like if is_finished: go to next level. but idk

Of course! Have a lil WIP of her in all her evil glory 🥰 (Hope I can finish this anytime in the next century lol)

Her name is Sandra, she's a war cleric of Gruumsh/oathbreaker paladin and she's Totally Bad Not Good Unredeemable. I haven't posted much about her bc I'm still in ACT1 with her (Im replaying Khael and campagn that takes priority).
fun fact before I even got through half of ACT1 of all the compainons only Astarion and Shadowheart were alive/present. I dont know how long theyre going to last though lmaooo
She's another iteration of my DnD character Alasandra, who Ive played for a couple years in a homebrew campagn! I also played with her in Solasta (another DnD game, that I suggest checking out!) He's all three of her together for the meme:
I also technically have a Redeemed Durge character that's based on another DnD character! His name is Chan, he's a warlock and a cinnamon roll who can do no wrong 🥹 (which makes me chosing him as a durge an awful parent)

never found those aus interesting either, but I'd say it's more attractive to work with an existing material over making own thing, because 1. the raw skeleton with established foundation, characters and relationships is alfeady there, and 2. there's a higher chance it will have an audience to share it with. you could find people for an original thingie, but it's Extra Work
these people wouldn't survive a day in the original fiction mines

This is basically describing 'flow', which is a well known concept in game design
getting mad enough at video games that i have to stop playing and make a chart
#also in psychology broadly but i encountered it first in game design#vidya gams#id in alt#so youre very right OP!#for people not versed at reading graphs: the 'patronizingly easy' side of the horseshoe would be high skill/low challenge#while the 'refunding your game' is the high challenge/low skill corner#so the horseshoe is the other diagonal#and where it intersects the flow channel it's green and enjoyable

#same gamers when the game doesn't have a big bright sign telling them where to go : im lost brooo bad game design wtf#YEAH turns out making paths visible to the player is a very important aspect in a game Who Knew#i'm not a fucking mountain hiker i'm not gonna carefully study the walls of a vido gam cliff to know where i can hang on to it#put some indicators on that shit. like yellow paint.#''b-but yellow ugly'' yellow is highly visible dipshit it's so you spot that the wall is climbable immediately#rather than reaching a wall assuming it's a deadend and going around the entire map 15 times before finding out you can climb it#it's video games it has dragons and aliens and robots and huge gun but you can't suspend your disbelief for a yellow streak on some rocj#name a more iconic duo than gamers and complaining about basic accessibility features
